Bought a $3200 dollar stove, paid another $800 to get it installed. The installer almost set fire to our house when he ran the oven after the install! He left cleaning sponges, scrapers, paper, glue, and tape in the oven. We put the fire out and cleaned the rack and stove. They only offered us a $100 compensation. I was completely offended. We needed to get three major things replaced in our house. The water heater, AC, and furnace. The Lowe's people were great in setting up the water heater appointment within a few days. However, the installers they hired made a change on the type of heater we purchased without consulting us and showed up and even installed the new one we didn't chose. We called the store later, and they did refund us for the unconsulted swap. Then, we found an enormous zig zag dent in the outer body of the furnace which the installers covered up with the manufacturers brochure and quick install brochures. When I removed the clear folder they were in, to stick up these brochures higher on the furnace--there was the signature dent. I call Lowes and they said our furnaces are often damaged like this. We sell them all the time. Yeah, but I didn't want a damaged furnace--nor did I buy one. So now I get another 50.00 credit. Learned my lesson about using these big stores to do installs. I'd rather work with the little guy and check up on his ratings then have Lowes pick whichever contractor. Then you're at the mercy of the contractor and have to keep calling Lowes to complain about how crappy the contractor did his job. read more

My countertops were a nightmare to get installed. Now we are 3 years out and the seams are starting to show. So when I called they told me they refuse to cover it because there was only a year warranty. Fine, I get it, but this is a defect from either their sub contractor or the material. I should have known better, don't buy anything major there, seriously. I will not be a repeat buyer. I went to Abt this week and ordered tons of appliances because I will literally not give my higher purchases to any big box store, but for sure won't give it to any Lowe's. I suggest you do your research, I did mine AFTER the fact, and I wish I had done it sooner. Even their paint is crap. This is for their online service. I called to get an adjustment on an item that I was in the process of checking out and within minutes the price increased. I called the next day and the rep could not help me. I called back hoping to speak with a Mgr or Supervisor and the rep on the line proceeded to assist me! I told her I am on my way inside work and may have to disconnect. She then called me back to let me know she has placed the order and needed my security code for my CC. I never called back because I no longer was interested in purchasing the items. Then few days later the products showed up at my house! They fraudulently charged my credit card without my authorization! I called them to rectify the situation to speak to a Mgr and of course was kept on hold! They are frauds and I reported them to my bank!!! read more

What a horrible experience for my husband and I going into Lowe's Store on Army Trail in Carol Stream, IL and spending almost $500. We bought some patio pillows and a rug, and the rug was placed in the bin that said $89 with all over rugs the same size as 8x10. They were all standing up against each other and all said $89. So, a customer didn't just move one, it was the incompetent employees that put them all there. It was real heavy and there were all kinds of patio rugs in that bin that were the same size so the store placed them in the wrong bin, which is not our fault, it's incompetence on part of the staff. I told them that was false advertisement, but we paid the full price of $148 because my husband and I have health issues and it's hard for us to pick heavy things up. My husband is a cancer survivor, lost part of his lung, doesn't breathe on his right side and had heart attacks and has congestive heart failure now. I've had a heart attack years ago, diabetes, have heart issues irregular heart beats and other health issues including low oxygen levels. So, instead of debating to a head cashier about it, we just paid it. Then we bought a plant and again there were no price on it so we had to wait again. People did not wear masks in the store and some were walking around coughing. We wore them because of safety for ourselves and others which we both have a hard time breathing, I was hot and hyperventilating. There was no social distancing in the store because of Covid-19. So I told the cashier I wanted to speak to a manager which all the employees were very young people, with absolutely no customer service training. Then this store incompetent manager came out as I was sitting outside catching my breath. He wasn't very friendly either. I told him about the issues starting with the rug. Again, he said it basically was not their problem which I believe it was. I asked for the CEO of the company's name and address. He seemed upset because I asked that but would give it to me. Which by the way I think these employees feel they do not have to answer to customers. I told him it was false advertising and my husband is an attorney so I know that to be law and he just walked away from me, not giving me the CRO's name or address. He just decided not to deal with us. My husband, I told him he was a customer and wasn't there to file a charge I was quoting the law myself as a customer about false advertising which I paid to try and avoid because of our health. My husband was in the car putting the heavy rug in by himself because nobody would help him. I had to sit down outside because I was having a hard time breathing. Adon, who is the manager walked away from me inside and I followed him to say my husband is here as a customer and I told the girls at the cashier and a nasty attitude young girl said we can refuse to talk to any customer. Really? You just took my $ 481 and now you tell me this. I asked her name and she covered her name up and told me it was none of my business she didn't have a name. They discriminated against my husband and I for being seniors, and they treated us very disrespectful laughing at us. So, this is the kind of service you get at Lowe's in Carol Stream. If these young punks and that's exactly what they are think they can disrespect me and my husband, they are mistaking. It was true discriminations, we were being discriminated against because of our age feeling they can beat us around. Then Adon discriminates I believe against my husband. I'm going to the CEO of the company one way or another. I felt like I was dealing with the rioters burning down the city. Adon came with an attitude before I talked to him. ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT AT ALL! When I got in the car I tested my glucose and it was around 425. It went straight up because of the stress they put on me jeopardizing my health and my husbands and I don't know how it affected my husbands health because he was worried about me. I cannot be more appreciative of Bob (Robert) in the window treatment department. I have worked with him for three custom Windows that are just perfect for my home. He is so nice and great explaining each fabric and helping you through all the measuring and questions throughout the process. I am going to contact thier corporate offices to let them know how great he is. It might be nerve wracking ordering them yourself vs a person coming to your home but a lot cheaper and well with it with Bob's help!! read more

Do not buy a dryers at Lowe's. It is now going on a four month wait for my dryer. This is ridiculous. If the gentleman I purchased the original dryer from what I put down the correct numbers I would've had my dryer because it wasn't stock. Now I get nothing but the runaround from them and they never pick up their phone they never answer their phones this is getting so frustrating. They all blame everybody else. The manufacture the delivery guy. I was supposed to get my dryer tomorrow. They called me from Lowe's and I was excited waiting for the time for delivery. So I tried to call back the delivery people. No answer no answer no answer no answer. I called back and asked for the appliance department. Lo and behold the gentleman that originally sold me my dryer answer the phone but I didn't know that it was him. So he gave me the song and dance again. The dryer is not in yet it is not in our warehouse. According to the big shots I spoke to they had 550 dryers sent to different locations of Lowe's so where is mine. So now they're telling me maybe the middle of September. I'm tired of washing my clothes and hanging them on chairs. So don't deal with Lowe's unless you know you can get your dryer. And I had to take a day off of work, Which cost me money. So who knows when I'll get my dryer very very unhappy with the service from Lowe's they offered no compensation. As a matter fact I forgot to tell you they made me buy a second dryer after they screwed up the first delivery dryer. Who does that it's an exchange. So now that I've vented I hope I get my dryer soon. So do not Go and buy stuff at Lowe's go to Best Buy or Menards. read more

I had a small DIY disaster in one of my bathrooms trying to get wallpaper removed - it left me with gouged walls and wallpaper that just wouldn't come off even when I used the chemical removers at full strength! (I think the previous owner of my house must have applied that paper with SuperGlue!) The guy at the paint counter couldn't have been nicer - and suggested a textured paint that not only covered the remaining paper but allowed me to fill the gouges. The result? A very pretty new faux-plaster look that I absolutely love! Kudos to Lowe's! read more

I spent 15 minutes mostly on hold waiting for the next person who didn't know sh*t. It's not like I called on a weekend when the place is busy. It was 3:00pm in the middle of the week. On my third loop around on Lowe's phone system, back to the same person who answered the phone & sent me off twice before I gave up. I gave it my all to spend my money at Lowe's. Customer service at this store is simply disappointing! Was sent to Carol Stream store from another store after they didn't have my web order for pickup. Turns out that there was a pretty big pricing difference between the two stores. Rather than address the customer problem, the assistant store manager and store manager argued defensively about store policies and how the original store incorrectly set my expectations. The poor customer service attitude among the employees sadly trickles down from the store manager. It says "Customer Service" on the red vest that all employees wear, but the store manager(s) simply don't demonstrate it. I have shopped at and loved Lowes for many years (several as a shareholder as well) but I will now stay away from the Carol Stream store! read more

I am sure most of the workers there at good guys. but the Asst Mgr, Jason is a moron. I bought a Troybilt tractor last year with 2 year warranty. It broke this year, so I had to bring it back via rented flatbed ($$). they sent it to a repair shop, and the shop said it has no oil, and therefore not covered by warranty. It will cost $700 to fix it. I asked the Lowe's staff if there is no oil, but all 3 said there is right amount of oil (this tractor was use only 32 hours). But Jason said, "if the repair guys said there is no oil, then there is no oil" Jason said "it is your fault for not changing the oil this spring, you are supposed to change it each spring". I told him, the manual said every 50-60 hours. Jason said, "it is all over the internet, that you are supposed to change the oil each spring before you use it, so you failed to do that, therefore, it is your fault and the repair will not be covered by warranty, if you want it fix, it will cost $700". I asked him, should I just throw away the manual, and just use the internet for guidance? he replied by repeating his earlier comment, "it is all over the internet, that you are supposed to change the oil each spring..... blah blah blah... He practically dared me to file legal claim for $700. And I will, plus legal cost and any punitive damages the court allows... But how do I prove there was oil, since the witnesses all work for Lowe's? Bottom line, if you are buying something expensive, try another Lowe's or Home Depot with above-intelligent management staff. read more

I have used store pick up numerous times over the past couple years and have needed a good, stiff drink every single time. In theory, store pick up sounds perfect for me. I'm a heavy online shopper and have seen Lowe's advertising touting this option as quick, easy, and convenient. However, I've found it's an absolute nightmare. It has taken at least 45 minutes each time I pick something up. I have no idea why. I've always come with a copy of my drivers license and the confirmation email, and with the exception of the last time, I've attempted to pick up my purchase within a week of ordering. Most of the time they haven't pulled the merchandise and someone needs to run and pick it up off the shelf. Which takes forever because first they check the shelves up front. Then need to call someone in the back. Then they need to call someone to pick up the merchandise. All while they have you stand to the side while they wait on other people. A couple times they didn't even have the item I ordered and had to substitute another item in its place. The last time they told me that I had already picked it up, even though they didn't have a signature from anyone indicating that it was picked up, and I argued with them for over a half an hour before they realized that they made a mistake. The customer service rep asked what I wanted to do. Hmmm... Well, Lowes is sold out of the product that I purchased, so what are my options???? I received a refund for the product, but I would have happily given up the refund to get those 45 minutes of my life back. I informed a manager, Jason, about my concerns. He was condescending and extremely dismissive, and he walked away without attempting to address the issue. He intimated that I was in the wrong, and there is nothing that will change about there process- this is the way it is, and it's not going to change. Even though one of the customer service employees told me that it's always been like this: a disaster. Jason did not seem to care that I left an unhappy customer. I have been shopping for years at Lowes and thought how great it was that they gave a veteran discount. The last time my wife and I did our spring gardening run at lowes, I mentioned the veteran discount at the check out counter. The young man asked for proof. Proof I said, what should I carry there is no ID card for a veteran. Perhaps I should carry my discharge? I was disrespected. I could not get in my house in below zero temperatures after coming home from work because my keypad on the opener froze and the batteries died on the remote. I took the remote to Glen in customer service at Lowes and he opened it for me so I could see and purchase the batteries I needed--and then he put it all back together for me with the new batteries. I was delighted and relieved to see it light up and was able to get into the house immediately when I got home. GREAT customer service--thanks Glen! I will be purchasing Swiss Army knives for myself and family on my next visit. It was quite the handy gaget Glen just happened to have on-hand with everything needed to open the remote and get the batteries out. read more

This lowes store has horrible customer service. Jody the store manager was very rude to me, he acted like I bothered him. I placed 3 orders online for in store pick up. they called and said they are out of stock. but when i went to store i found the items no problem. so i sent them an email. they responded and said they would get back in touch with in 24 hours. that was 4 days ago, and no one ever called or emailed. so i went to the store and I asked to speak to the store manager. he was rude and made me feel that it was my fault. what should of happened was he should have said i will look into it and try and correct the problem. if something is out of stock it should be taken out of inventory so no one tries purchases it online. I bought an artificial Christmas tree a couple of weeks ago. Today I see that they are 25% off so I call the Lowe's customer service line. They take my info and say that the store in Carol Stream will call later to process the sale price which, by the way, they honor for 30 days. I really didn't expect a call, but I got it this morning. On Black Friday of all days! The woman who called was not only pleasant, but processed the whole thing over the phone. It made my $300 tree quite reasonable. Thanks, Lowe's! read more

A bunch of liers and cheats here. The only reason I was shopping here was due to gift cars I had received. First time in I bought a lawn mower that was suppose to come with a free pull behind dump cart. I was told they did not have any of the free dump carts and had not had them for 3 weeks despite it being in that days ad. They then tried to up sell me to a different cart for an additional charge. I then bought a new bathtub and was told in house delivery, nope would only deliver it to the garage. Now I try to get my lawnmower fixed under their warranty and they will not honor what I was told it would cover. Needless to say I am glad the gift cards are gone and I no longer have to shop here. Had very bad experience in Lowes Bloomingdale.Mix of poor customer service and racist attitude by one of the employees.I had a question regarding a product and when I went over and asked this guy helping out customers,he just brushed past me ignoring my question and behaving as if I don't exist.I ignored it thinking he is busy with the other customer.Then after buying all stuff we were standing in the line for checkout and there was this lady behind us.She cut off the line and went ahead for checkout while we were busy discussing something.When we objected she started fighting.She did not look very educated and I was expecting some kind of intervention or some apology from this same guy who was now at the checkout counter billing her stuff but amidst our argument he chose to stay silent and started cracking a joke with this lady and openly declared he will not get involved in this.We complained about the whole incident to the acting manger as the store manager was on leave.I hope they will take some action. read more

Never ever again! I just went in here today after a not so great experience at Sears trying to get a new dishwasher. I have been here quite a bit lately due to constant renovations at home as they are the closest hardware store now that the Ace Hardware is closed. However after today - never ever again. I went to the appliance department where I was promptly ignored for over 15 minutes by Gene, then finally acknowledge and told that he would be with me in a little while. I decided that I wasn't going to wait any longer and started to leave the store. Another employee noticed that I was annoyed and asked if he could help. After I said no, he again offered to help and would see what he could do to make the sale. He ended up offering me 10% off of the appliance that I was going to buy and told the original employee in that department to make sure to give me the discount and Gene got very rude about it - why does she deserve a discount, I'm not giving her the discount. At that point I decided that this company will not get my money for the sale/installation, so I went to hhgregg down the street from them and had an AMAZING experience. I was in and out in less time than I spent waiting at Lowe's, plus I ended up spending a little more money and going to the top of my budget for a better appliance due to hhgregg's wonderful customer service. read more

I've been in this location several times and sometimes my experience is OK, but usually no one there seems to want to help or ask if you need anything. Today I went in to build a kitchen and needed a person in the cabinet department. I arrived at 4:45 PM and went right to the cabinet department and there was nobody there. I looked around for a little while and finally at 5:05 I asked someone for help in another department. They went to go look for help and for the manager. The manager, Lucio, came by ten minutes later barely looked at me and just yelled across from about 40 feet away that the guy was on lunch and wouldn't be back until six and then he was leaving at seven. No one else can help me. I've then asked why they didn't post a sign or anything else so I wouldn't waste so much of my time. He didn't turn around or acknowledge me at all. Very very upset with this service and especially by the lack of a simple thing like posting their hours in that department, and by Lucio, the manager who cannot be bothered to do anything. We will buy our cabinets, appliances, flooring, countertops, and everything else for our new house anywhere but lowes. Just for comparison I went to Home Depot during the same timeframe yesterday, and there were two kitchen specialist there that were able to help me immediately. read more

A friend and I went there to do a simple exchange for an air compressor that started leaking. It was a Saturday night and there were a bunch of young people working there all being very unprofessional. During the return process the clerk even asked us to go get the unit we were looking to exchange for even though there were employees walking all over the place. We went to go look and only found one floor model. When we told him we didn't want a floor model he looked at us like we were being ridiculous and didn't seem to believe us that there weren't other units because he sent an associate over there to look. So after a few jokes with his fellow employees and a phone call he told us that they had 3 in back but if we didn't want the floor model it would be awhile because the person in back was unloading a truck and that was more important than getting our item. The floor manager (I assume) was there as well and after we sat waiting for awhile she rudely asked "What are you two here for again?" we told her we had been waiting awhile for a compressor and she said "Oh" and walked away. There was a differently dressed gentleman walking back and forth while we waited who I assume was an upper level manager and even after 45 minutes of us waiting he didn't even acknowledge that we were there. At the back end of an entire hour the new customer service person got off a personal cell phone call and called the back for a minute- when she got off the phone she said there were none in back and that if we wanted an exchange we had to take their floor model. I asked what about the 3 in the system and she shrugged and said "must be wrong." ... Needing the unit we had no choice to take the floor model which motor case had a crack in it and looked like it was darkened in with permanent marker which leads me to believe that this unit might have been a return. When we left there was no "sorry for waiting for an hour" or anything they just stood around joking and acting like this was nothing out of the ordinary. I've never had a problem at Lowe's before and this was simply unbelievable read more
