Anyone thinking of ordering appliances on line from Lowes should read this review. I was attracted of course by their great deals on home appliances, specifically a new refrigerator. My old fridge was in pretty bad shape and I was renovating my kitchen so it was time for a new one. I picked out a great Whirlpool to match the oven we already bought at Lowes previously. (Had to by the floor model because they didn't have any in stock). Tried to by the new fridge at the Lowe's in Laurel but after 45 minutes they finally figured out they didn't have any in stock. So I purchased it on line at the Lowes website, great deal, easy to buy, free delivery to house, what's not to like? Problem is they don't really have any of these refrigerators to sell. Purchased it on line 6/6/18, after purchasing it, received an email saying the delivery date would be 7/4/18 (a month later? really?) Good thing my old fridge was still creaking along. Got and email 7/1/18 confirming the delivery on the 4th and saying I would receive another email telling me what time, whoopee! new fridge will be here soon. Never received a time confirmation email. So I called the customer assistance line in the original email, after being on hold for 25 minutes and switched to 3 different people I was told to delivery would not be until July 18th which was when they were expecting a delivery of these refrigerators. Makes me wonder if they really have anything in the warehouse out back. When I asked the customer service girl how reliable this date was she said barring any shipping problems other issues they should have them. (sounds like another disclaimer). I'd expect this kind of "get you to commit then string you along to keep you from buying from another dealer" tactics from Crazy Ray's Discount Appliances and Car Parts but expected better from Lowe's. Caveat...I'm a regular home depot customer. 1. Because Lowe's employees always manage to annoy me 2. Their prices are higher 3. I hate the color scheme, and 4. Every time I visit their tool section, I feel like a lab rat. But I do visit whenever I can't find what I'm looking for at HD, (I guess as a last resort. I didn't have time to go to Restore to scavenge the part.) Today I visited again and to avoid any problems, I stayed away from the employees... Found the part that I needed and got out of there. The background music is catchy and the tool section still freaks me out... I'm sure each Lowe's tool section is violating some fire code for not having exit signs. They last thing I want is to be found burned alive amid Chinese made Kobalt tools. Not bad today... An employee almost said "have a nice day". I would go to this Lowe's again :) read more

DON'T BUY BLINDS TO HAVE INSTALLED BY LOWE'S!!!!!!!! Worst experience not worthy of a 1 star. I paid for my blinds in October of 2017 with a projected installation date of late November. The job was not completed until March 2018. After several store visits speaking to 2 managers, numerous calls to the store, an installer that did not show for a scheduled appointment for measurements, incorrect measurements, incorrect installation, and warped blinds, I contacted Lowe's central office hoping to have the problem resolved. After several apologetic conversations with empty promises to correct the problem, I stated that I needed to consult an attorney. The central office representative informed me that they were told by management not to continue a conversation with a customer if the customer mentioned consulting an attorney to resolve a problem. This statement did not deter me as was intended, Two weeks after this conversation, my blinds were finally installed correctly. However, prior to the installation I received a box of blinds that did not match the measurements of the contents of the blinds inside the box and one set of blinds were not delivered. A few days after my blinds were finally installed correctly, I received another box of blinds that I did not order. And to make matters worst, Lowe's offered to compensate me for the inconveniences and problems by offering a $50.00 Lowe's gift card. I declined the offer. This offer does not adequately satisfy the lack of customer service endured, time and money ($1,400.00) spent. DON'T BUY BLINDS TO HAVE INSTALLED BY LOWE'S!!!!!!! Lowe's really needs to reevaluate their installation department or think of reinstating an installation department. read more

All I needed was two boards for a project. I went to Lowes, found the right size board, it was just 10 feet long. But, no problem they have a station to cut lumber. Too bad there was no one in lumber to help me. I walked all the way over to plumbing before I found someone. "I don't know anything about lumber" the man says "talk to the lumber people." Another staffer walked to lumber with me - to verify what I was saying I suppose. We went to the cashier for contractors. "Sure, we'll cut lumber he says, but you have to buy the board first." And so I did. When the lumber people returned they blocked off the aisle, did some work with a fork lift, then opened the aisle back up. "Now you can ask them" the cashier says. And so I did and before both the lumber guys could flee. "No" says the lumber guy, "we don't cut treated lumber." Now, I cannot fit 10 feet of lumber in my car, and anyway I just needed two boards 34 inches long. So I carried my ten feet of lumber the length of the store to get a refund because the contractor cashier can't do it. A complete waste of an hour. read more

I was at the Laurel location yesterday shopping for a door. Unfortunately we weren't able to get the proper assistance because the employee by the name of Brian that was there and decided to huff and puff and state that he was never going to be able to have lunch and then goes "yeah alright come on what do you need" when we asked him if he worked at the door department. After his reaction, I decided that there was no way that I'd want him to help us with our door. Completely unaccepted and unprofessional. I'm extremely appalled by the lack of professional customer service that I saw last night. The manager Adam said he would look into it and tried to help us but I don't think he was too familiar with the system. Just stay away. Trust me. Waste of time. read more

Customer service was so bad, that it's shameful and a near embarrassment. One month ago, I ordered an upright freezer - not online (I'm old-fashioned like that), but in the store. The young salesman who placed the order, informed me that my freezer would be delivered within two weeks. Two days prior to the delivery date, I confirmed with Lowes on the delivery date. The sales rep I spoke with, informed me that the delivery of my freezer, wouldn't be until a few days past my original date. A few days past isn't so bad, but then - in my email, I was informed that my freezer was never even shipped out to me and would take possibly another two weeks for arrival. With steam coming out of my eyeballs, I headed over to Lowes and inquired with the manager as to the reason for this. The manager, Brandon Conner, confessed that he hadn't a clue as to what went wrong. He actually blamed it on their computer system. So, I promptly cancelled my order - headed for Home Depot and purchased a cheaper model, just as nice freezer. See, every story has a silver lining, somewhere. The morale of this story - shop someplace else for your appliances. read more

Last week, I ordered a brand new 18 cu ft Frigidaire Refrigerator on the Lowe's 800 line, got a good deal, and had it set to deliver today about Noon. The truck from the Lowe's in Laurel showed up a half hour early, which was perfect, the 2 guys hauled away the old one, and brought in the new one. When they unpacked it, they discovered a dent on the front of the door. Sensing that this would work out, I went ahead and signed for it. The delivery guys were very professional and helpful. So I called the Laurel Store Manager, another real professional, and very nice too, came to terms, and everything is great. All in all, at every single step from my first phone call to their 800 line, placing the order, getting it delivered, and fixing an issue, everybody at Lowe's HQ, to the delivery guys and Store manager at Laurel was there for me 100 percent. As a long time HD customer, I am now a fan of Lowe's. Recommended ! read more

WOW! I was surprised at the service I received at this store, it was "as good as it gets! (from the 5 star rating) It was not like that a few months ago when I was in this store in fact it was NOT a good experience at all, however I was just in there and OMG (as my daughter says) what a change in customer service, the product was actually on the shelf and the overall experience was great!. Every employee was friendly, smiling and helpful....they actually made me laugh. I am hoping that this is not just because of the holidays, either way I will be back to check! read more

This has got to be my favorite Lowes Store. They have great customer service and I can always find what I want or someone who can help me find it. My boyfriend says I should have stock in Lowe's as often as I go in there (ha). I went into the Columbia store and just didn't feel as welcome and goodness me - just didn't get the attention I wanted when I was looking for something. I called ahead. I gave them the brand, the ID number, and the name of the color paint that I needed. The person at the paint desk pulled it up on the computer and told me they could match it. I had him double check twice. Then I drove half an hour, waited on line twenty minutes, only to be told "Oh no we don't have that, there's really nothing we can do." So that was an hour round trip, I would say Lowes basically stole 10$ of gas money out of my pocket. Since I was there anyway, I bought a paint roller. When I got to the checkout line, it did not have a tag. I was sarcastically told I needed to go find one with a tag, because, obviously after all It's MY responsibility to tag their merchandise. But they made sure to say have a nice day when I left. That was helpful. read more

DO NOT contract for a flooring job through this Lowe's!!! Unless of course you like headaches and aggravation. The flooring staff is completely incompetent and the people in the installation department are not helpful. I signed a contract and paid for a job in full at the start of May. After several blunders I had to re-sign the contract 3 times. First they forgot to include the cost of glue and other key materials; then they forgot that the materials had to be delivered to my house in advance of the work; then they had to reschedule delivery 3 times; then only half of the materials were delivered; then when the workmen finally came out to do the job they couldn't b/c Lowe's forgot to tell me that the materials needed to sit inside the house for 48hrs (not in the garage); then on the day the work was actually being done (8wks after this saga started), the last version of the contract didn't include the workmen moving furniture off the floor; and finally there was a surprise delivery of more materials about 3hrs into the job. If it didn't happen to me this comedy of errors might have been funny. They tried to appease me by giving me discounts, a small refund on a gift card (some of which they took back), and then they started eating costs because of all their mistakes. The workers were great. Showed up on time, were very professional and courteous, and did a good job. Do yourself a favor and cut out the middle man. read more

I have had the worst experience with Lowe's Flooring Dept and the Coordination/with their vendor Carpet Warehouse. The reason I am rating Lowe's so poorly is because this is the company I initially had interaction with, now because there service is contracted out, that's where the problem lies. It took a simple carpet install less than 300 sq feet (not even the entire basement) in a historical house in Washington, DC basement turn into a four day project. First of all, what really disturbed me the person from Carpet warehouse come out and did the measurements, then they are compiled or transferred to Lowe's or wherever, what I gathered from this whole scenario we have people who lack Project Management and Communication skills, and they need to get their tools up to date. Had the person from Carpet Warehouse who came out to take the measurements did a sketch of the layout right then and their not go back to wherever and try to figure out what was said. I did not have to initial off to his measurements, thought we were on the same page of the layout when he left, think again, I'm on page1, he was out in left field. Now after I scheduled my appt for install, it was being delayed because for some odd reason I do not know what they are doing, I even wonder if they know what they are doing, the job the day before my schedule, did not entail the carpenters were going to have to move furniture or something to that effect, now that delayed them and now it spilled over to my appointment because they did not finish their job the day before how absurd!! Now my appointment had to be rescheduled. When the two supposedly carpet experts arrived at my project the next day, the carpet was not measured correctly. From the exterior wall to the interior wall was about 2" too short. How absurd!! Then the carpenter is telling me a square section in the basement was not included and that is why the carpet measurement was off, bologna, because if from exterior to interior measured no problem what did that have to do with the other section....Now he does not have enough carpet to do the nine steps. Also while taking up the steps he split the wood in two steps, do you think Lowe's or Carpet warehouse even offered to fix it or replace the steps, and this is the kicker, the bedroom door that that carpenter took off told me I had to get someone to put it back on because it need to be shaved because now the carpet and padding that was put down their made it unable to shut. Then they left nail tacks sticking up in the steps when they left, didn't even have the audacity to put padding over it, when I distinctly told them it is small children in this house.. We went around the barn about that, I do not know why Carpet warehouse do not send out professionals who know certain houses, historical, modern, traditional etc. Now they were sending someone else on Sat, who couldn't make it, now it is Sunday I feel confident that this person is going to do a good job, but don't ever go to Lowe's in Laurel for flooring service or do business with Carpet Warehouse in Ellicott City, Md the worst experience I have ever had with any Contractor and I have worked with Contractors in Home Improvement over Fifteen years, with all that being said I am also going to write to BBB and provide the pictures of this situation and how they had no respect for this property and trying to make their problem my problem by saying the square section wasn't included in the project, but if they have a better system and understanding of what is supposed to be done before they leave the customer then their should never be a problem or misunderstanding unless it is on their part. I clearly told that gentleman how many sq feet I wanted he went over a little so I was cool with that because we are also installing tile and that gave me a better understanding once the carpet was down where the tile begins and where the tile ends. I am so disappointed. I will never do Business with this store in Laurel, Md ever again..... read more

They advertise next day delivery - don't believe it. And if you try to call and find out what's happening with your order after you've waited several days, expect poor service. The phone will ring on their end for several minutes until they pick up. Expect a long time on hold - This place is so broken! read more

Lowe's in LAUREL, MD makes up policies as they go along. They are now requiring that either the card holder pick up orders or that the person picking up on line orders has the card. Our card is held by our GM in the Corporate Office - I don't see her going to Lowe's for parts. And what about our out of state locations? PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NOTHING ON THEIR WEBSITE ABOUT THIS "NEW" REQUIREMENT! At least Home Depot allows you to enter a pick up name. Oh, BTW I purchase for 8 branches in 4 states, maybe not the biggest piece of business (by far) but absolutely the one with the loudest voice that will do everything to steer business AWAY. And I just spent 27 minutes talking to Caroline in Customer Service that very nicely told me tough crap. The 5% discount for using the Lowe's card is just not worth it. This is one of the worst places we've ever dealt with. We ordered thousands of dollars of merchandise. None of it was the correct thing when it came in, none of it came in on time, and everything was dented. The salespeople are beyond incompetent. To top it all off, one of the employees stole my husband's credit card and charged several thousand dollars. Avoid this place! read more

This has become the worst store ever. It was a pretty decent store about 2 years ago but its slowly gotten worse and worse. Theres never anyone in the departments. You have to walk 3 departments over before you can find someone who still cant help you. Whenever you go to customer service there is a super long line with only one associate behind the counter. When you want to speak to a manager you can never get one. From what i hear the associate say on the phone is that the managers keep telling them to get another manager. If I could rate it a ZERO I would! Its horrible. Just say away. Theres a home depot right down the street! read more

I ordered a KitchenAid dishwasher 12/13/16. It was delivered to the Laurel, MD store 1/9/17. I called to verify that it had come in and was told that an installer would call me within the next 24-48 hours. That NEVER happened. After multiple calls to Lowes, I was assured that RSG, one of your contracted installers would do the installation on Jan 20 from 3-7 p.m. I waited and around 6:30 started to worry. At 7 p.m. when the contractor had not shown up or CALLED, I was extremely upset. I called Lowes to communicate the debacle and they could NOT reach the installer. Around 8:30 p.m. that same evening, the RSG installer left a message on my voice mail indicating that he had complications, a flat tire, etc. Clearly he had my phone number and SHOULD have communicated this earlier. After more initiative on my part, calling Lowe's, I was assured a different contractor (per my request) would come out today, Feb. 4. The contractor arrived from Atlantic Coastal and very politely informed me after taking measurements in my kitchen that the new dishwasher would NOT fit. Again, I was furious because when I ordered the dishwasher with a Lowe's sale rep. on 12/13/16, he assured me that all would be well. AC's Mike, left and told me he would return the dishwasher to the Laurel, MD store on Monday. I called the Lowe's store and spoke with a rep. and informed her that I wanted my money back. She told me that the dishwasher would first have to be returned to the store before she could refund me my money. The bottom line is that I do not ever plan to purchase ANYTHING or do business with Lowes again. In fairness to the employees at the Laurel Lowes, they were helpful and communicated an understanding for my frustration. Lowes should seriously screen its' contractors. It is bad for business. Also, it would make sense if a contractor would come out in advance, take measurements, etc. so that no one's time is wasted. read more
