I want to commend this Lowes, their merchandise is more upscale than Home Depot overall, and the store is bright, large and clean. A special shout-out for Kathy Moran in kitchen counter department. She was very knowledgeable and helpful about countertops. I ended up not being able to use them as the slabs I wanted weren't quite what I thought, and she provided me with excellent customer service all the way through. If you need new counters, she is the person to see, Lowes is lucky to have her as an employee. read more

This is the worst home improvement store location. I ordered a closet organizer three days ago for curbside pickup and went to pick it up today after getting the email saying it was ready. With two small children in the car, I called the curbside number 9 times, getting no answer. I tried both the curbside option and customer service option but could not get anyone on the line. Finally, after 29 minutes, I dragged my kids into the store to customer service, where I asked to speak to a manager. He could not speak because he was on the phone with another irate customer. I was told by an associate that they can't answer the phone because they get 300 orders a day and only have one person working curbside. So does that mean roughly 300 people a day have this same experience since they can't be bothered to answer the phones? If you can't properly staff curbside pickup, you definitely shouldn't be offering this service. What a disappointment. (In contrast, Vernon Hills Lowe's fulfilled the same order I placed for a second closet organizer within 3 hours, and it took 10 minutes from when I pulled into the parking lot to when I drove away with the organizer loaded in my trunk for me. Order placed the same day-seems like the Lowe's in Northbrook just has extremely poor management and staffing practices.) read more

After visiting a few other hardware stores in the area (Home Depot, Ace, Menard) this Lowe's store was the only place that went out of their way to find what I was looking for. While i didn't find it in the store, the Lowe's worker went to his in-store computer and searched the internet. He ended up finding a site online that had exactly what I wanted and wrote wrote down the information on some paper so I wouldn't forget. That same employee also directed a woman to a nearby plumbing supply store after they were unable to find parts for her Kohler faucet. The employees at the other hardware stores I visited never offered that extra help. I do prefer Home Depot for their selection of professional grade items but their employees aren't nearly as helpful. That kind of customer service is what other stores should strive to match. read more

This is my go-to Lowe's. They're really good about helping out. Even if the staff has no idea what you're looking for, they will stick with you and try to help you out as much as they can. The garden section is nice. The paint area is also very cool. I can always count on someone there to mix my paints. I very much enjoy the race car shopping carts for my little kids. It keeps them occupied while I browse. read more

Had a great experience ordering a grill, I was able to speak to someone and get the grill ordered within 5 minutes. The gentleman was very helpful and professional. I needed to call back to provide my payment information and he called to follow-up to make sure I submitted the information so he could get the grill ordered from Weber the same day. We ordered new windows in July and got a call that they were in Aug. 10. We did not hear from the installer until September (and no response to our calls). We scheduled the install for 3 weeks later. On the day of the install, Lowe's called me and said they didn't have all the parts! It is now October and I have not heard from them since...no apology, no response to my calls, nothing. I never write reviews. I feel like I had to this time. Not only was my service excellent, I think these warehouses only get bad reviews. My wife and I went on a Friday, we were immediately greeted at the door and were asked if we need help (I'm pretty sure his name was Chris but am terrible with names). Heck yeah we did. I had an extensive list that included a leaf blower, toilet seats and other odds and ends for a new house. He walked us up to two different aisles and gave us precise locations for the other stuff we needed. This really helped and most the time this level of service is not seen at most big box stores. I ordered an "in-stock" garage door and nothing has gone well with this order. Apparently, to Lowes, in-stock means 4-6 weeks. Once it arrived it took a week for the installer to come and install it. He took down our garage door and then realized that the company sent the wrong hardware so he couldn't install our new door. I took a morning off of work to be here for the installer and now I have no garage door. DO NOT order a garage door from Lowes. read more

I'm disappointed that I have to give them one star. I had a bathroom remodel and the garbage job they did should be an embarrassment. The paint job is sloppy and the bathroom looks unprofessional. If you want quality find random people standing in front of home depot. they have a better work ethic and will do a better job. I spent more money falsely assuming it would be better quality. 6 months later I already see the cracks in the molding. I complained and heard nothing. Avoid this at all costs. I don't know a single person who had a worse experience than me with lowes. read more

the hardware part of this store is cool but i would never use them for doors. they ordered the wrong stuff 3 times in a row. replacing 10 doors turned into a 4 month project that forced me to take 7 different days off work! No one person owns any project, you get bounced around to different managers that only manage to piss you off and not deliver, blamming the last person you spoke to. if I wanted to mis measure and order the wrong stuff i would have installed the doors myself. read more

We had doors installed 2014. The handle has been falling off for 6 months. Today when the door jammed from the outside I was motivated to fix the problem and called at 9:00 AM. He took a message along with my number and said someone would call back. At 10:00 I called after not hearing back. This time reception said they would direct a message to millwork. By 11:00, I drove over to Glenview to get someone's attention. Walking through the store I noticed it did not seem that busy. When I arrived at the counter for my department, three men wearing Lowes uniform were chatting between themselves. Until I cleared my throat, they would have continued. Ira finally turned to me casually. How can I help you? I told him I had twice called about the issue and he offered that he'd been there all morning and never received a message. I began to wonder if I'd been calling the wrong Lowes until i pulled out my phone to verify through Ira that yes, that's the correct Lowes. I said that my second call was messages through switchboard. He looks up at his computer and said, Oh yes. I see here you called. This means that Lowes does not pay attention to customers. This also indicates that employees are not interested in the customer, whether through phone or in person. This also indicates that you need to have time on your hands if something goes awry through Lowes because you will need to get in your vehicle, travel to Glenview, and hope that your face will get noticed if you plan on receiving service from Lowes in Glenview. read more

If I could give this store -100 stars, I would, but unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow it. I am writing this review as a warning to other consumers to avoid this place at all costs!!! We purchased a sliding patio door and installation form Lowes back in September. The door arrived at Lowes in the second week of October and we set up the installation for November 15, 2017 because the contractor did not have time before then. When the door arrived, Lowes was supposed to inspect the door to make sure it is in good condition for installation. When the installer arrived to pick up the door for us on November 15, it was broken. The door was sitting there for a month and the whole thing could have been avoided had one of the Lowes' employees actually done their job and inspected the door. THEY HAD ONE JOB. When asked for an explanation of how this could happen, every employee and manager was dumbfounded. No accountability whatsoever. At this point, Lowes gave us some compensation for their major failure after we requested it, and we rescheduled the installation for a month later and Lowes ordered the replacement part. We made a HUGE mistake by giving Lowes a second chance to remedy the situation - we should have just received a full refund and purchased a new sliding patio door elsewhere. On December 13, 2017 (the rescheduled installation date), the installer calls us again and says the part is again broken. Not only did they not inspect the products that they received once, but they made the same careless error twice!!! The receiving manager even lied to us in the morning of December 13th, assuring us that the door has been inspected and ready to go. We were not about to give Lowes a third opportunity to screw us over, so at the point we received the rest of our money back. We have lost the last three months, and if we didn't choose with Lowes, we would have already had a new sliding door! Now we are stuck in Chicago winter scrambling to find someone that could install a new door as soon as possible. I will never spend another cent at Lowes after this horrible experience. Don't waste your time at this store dealing with these incompetent employees! read more

We had a fence installed by Lowes and the installers were awful! They left behind a 10' pile of debris - tree branches and other yard waste that they had to clear away to install the fence. It is still sitting there in the middle of our back yard 3 weeks after installation. They installers trampled all our plants and destroyed our garden. They dumped the concrete they removed from the post holes of the old fence into the garden behind our bushes. Really ratty work. DON'T use them! read more

I too don't understand the low reviews of this store. I had to purchase a flower pot and altogether 4 different people helped me in the process including the cashier. Everyone was friendly and helpful and they helped me find what I needed. This is the garden area. I don't have much experience with the other areas. read more

This store took 8 weeks and 10+ conversations and still not able to sort out a mistake they made on our online order of a casement window, despite the fact we provided clear and detailed order history information. We make online order on 11/15 for a casement window and picked store pick up option. They first mistakenly returned our order due to some kind of confusion they had on 12/5, then promised to have the product ready several times on the phone but could never deliver. After Christmas we went to the store to meet with the employees to clarify this issue face to face, then we found that they did not even know which item was missing the whole time, until we gave them the product id in store. All their earlier promise of delivery were lies. Since this meeting 3 weeks have passed, and we still don't have the window ready. To give you a sense of how ridiculous they are, it took 4 - 5 phone conversations over 2 weeks for them to give us an estimate of product arrival date, which is today. By now it's 2:30 in the afternoon and I still don't have the window yet. When I called the store, the lady who answered the phone was able to see on her record that the window is supposed to arrive today, and asked me to call her if I don't get the window by 5. The only logical conclusion I can get is if I do call her at 5, she will tell me a new delivery date. From my observation, either the store associates lack the problem solving skills to sort this thing out despite our help, or lack the willingness to work on this, or both. I ran out of ways to help them solve this problem. If this message gets to the management of Lowe's they can either treat this message as ways to improve their store service, or disregard one customer's experience as not important them. read more

They really screwed up my bathroom remodel. The guy in plumbing with whom I was working managed to sell me a shower base and a shower door that don't work together. Since I trusted him I didn't find that out until my contractor had poured the concrete around the base and laid all the tile. At that point it was too late to change out the base and I was forced to buy a different glass enclosure. I talked to the manager expecting him to help me out and he told me all he could do was sell me an enclosure that was double the price of the one that didn't fit. I pointed out that it was Lowe's fault that I bought them together in the first place and he said the guy I was working with was not typically in plumbing and was just helping out, so he didn't know what he was talking about. Maybe the guy could have mentioned that to me when he was selling me expensive things that didn't fit together???!! read more

Worst experience EVER. Bought and paid in full for kitchen cabinets in march and the job will be hopefully finished today...aug 13th! Horrible installation experience and Roberta was difficult, didn't keep her word, and talked down to us. Save yourself the headache and all the phone calls to lowes to get problems corrected --- buy your cabinets with contractors and designers who actually see the kitchen space and care to do a decent job. It was a huge hassle trying to coordinate between designer, install dept and their contractors who didnt care about doing a good job. Everyone blamed the other and had a million excuses! It is easier to ref a fight between my three kids! Who has time for lowes' unprofessional behavior. And I love how lowes is constantly calling to check if you are happy but as soon as we voiced our problems and disappointment they haven't bothered to call back. Never step foot into lowes again and strongly recommend that you not walk away but run...fast! read more
