We went through Lowes to have a new garage door opener installed. The people at the store were very nice however, there was confusion around whether we brought the opener home or if the installer picked it up. After playing phone take with the installer we finally set a date. We asked that they call a half hour before arrival so we could get home from work. He did not do that and therefore left bc we were not home. We gave them another shot and he did in fact call ahead this time but he was over a half an hour late. read more

I asked for help to bring a door from a top shelve ( need to use a ladder to bring it down). I asked 3 assistants and none of them bring me the help, it is a very unfriendly place. I have never seen this in other Lowe's. I was like a idiot wait for half hour. I finally gave up and drive to Home Depot. Guess what? my door is easily found and I can get it by myself. Moreover, I found the door with pre-drilled options, which was not existed in this Lowe's. Apparently there is some management problems and they stop thinking for customers. Might have made a mistake going to Lowes to purchase door for apartment building I own. Very helpful when I was in the store; decided to have them install door and told that their contractor would be calling me in a couple of days to set up appointment to measure area. Well it's been a week and nothing! Getting the run around when I call and being told they will call me later that day. That is 3 days in a row. I only gave one star because very helpful in store but what point is that if you need to take it a step further and have them contact you and have installation of product. I'm usually very understanding of people in retail and don't expect people to be over the moon to provide customer service. People have bad days, people dont get paid enough, some customers are terrible to deal with, etc. That said, this was easily the worst customer service experience I've ever had in any store. I tried to go in to buy a piece of plywood and get it cut. Found the plywood (which weighed more than I do and had a few feet on my height) and proceeded to try and flag someone down to help me. Associate 1 was friendly but went to go flag down someone in lumber as it wasn't his department. Fine. Comes bad 15 minutes later and tells me that he doesn't know where the lumber guy went. Not his fault, i told him I'd circle back again to check after I picked up some other items I needed. Associate 2, I found in the lumber department and seemed very willing to talk to me until I mentioned that I was looking for help with regard to cutting the plywood. Magically he had to go all of a sudden and scurried off. Weird. Associate 3 was a woman I found in the lighting aisle, the first associate on that half of the store that didn't seem to scurry away as soon as they saw a customer. She helped me find someone who would help me with the plywood and led me to Associate 4. Associate 4 (who i'd spotted earlier helping burly men move lumber into their cart) said "Sure, I'll cut it for you! Just bring it over to the saw!" and proceeded to briskly walk away. Didn't tell me where the saw was or even consider the fact that I was not a burly person and might need some help with the physical act of moving a huge sheet of plywood off of a shelf that was out of my reach. At that point I'd been there for close to an hour so I just admitted defeat and walked away. I can deal with the eye rolls, i can deal with being made fun of for being a little girl in a big "manly" store or whatever. But I can't deal with specifically asking for help that is well within the realm of the associates' jobs and being practically ignored. read more

Path of Least Persistence. Always prefer Lowe's to other home improvement stores however, The Saugus MA store hits ROCK BOTTOM. Stopped in to buy a snow blower. The salesman was excellent but I needed to rent a Van to transport the machine. They have a Hertz Kiosk for rental of a VAn but...... was not working. The help at the service desk (young high school + 1 or 2 years) could care less. Selectively ignore you until they have to say something. Called the Hertz Company myself to ask for help which they were glad to give. They asked to speak to a manager to give him a code which needed to be typed in to reset the machine. Almost no help from any manager. Finally one of the clerks at the service desk said we don't pay any attention to the Hertz Kiosk. I asked if anyone had successfully rented the van. No one had any idea. That was three or 4 weeks ago. I went back today thinking the problem must be fixed by now. (Yet another snowstorm coming)The Hertz Kiosk machine was up and running but no agent answers. Once again no managers, no one with any knowledge or interest to help. The best I could do was to find out that the "Hertz Yellow bar code cards are all gone". "Yeah we have to order more of those'" HOW DOES LOWES SAUGUS MA stay open?? The closest Lowe's to East Arlington/Somerville is in Saugus, so that's where we went this weekend to use our handy Lowe's coupons that we got in the mail for 10% off. Why not? Usually if I want building supplies or home hardware I head to the Somerville Home Depot, but this was a chance to explore the "Other giant home improvement warehouse". Generally I don't find much difference between Home Depot and Lowe's, and this time around, I didn't either. The Saugus Lowe's is your standard giant warehouse with aisles of everything from lumber to lighting, plants to paint, bolts to bathtubs. That being said, they have a giant outdoor section with a decent selection of plants and seeds as well as garden accessories. The staff was also very friendly and seemed to know what they were talking about....although we didn't ask any hard technical questions, mostly "can you cut this piece of wood?" or "do you have this?" We did have a minor setback when we came home to find out that the wood-cutting guy had cut the piece of wood we bought 1/4" too long for the shelves we wanted, so that was another 20 minutes or so outside with a clamp and a coping saw to get the shelves down to size. Oh well. I do recommend the wood cutting service, as the guy was friendly and helpful and it took about 2 seconds to cut, but I suggest that if you use it to bring a tape measure and double check their measurements after the fact, so that you can go back and get it fixed right away if it turns out that they cut to the wrong specs. I don't know if we'll come back any time soon just because I don't see how Lowe's much differs from our own Somerville Home Depot, but as a one-stop shop for home improvement, it does a pretty good job. read more

Want to improve your home, get all the junk you bought at Lowe's and haul it to the dump. Huge big box store just an indoor landfill. No wonder the USA has a solid waste crisis. Nothing cheap either - same prices at local ACE hardware. I can't believe I bought a few hundred dollars worth of stuff here yesterday - already throwing one thing out - serves me right for being greedy and stupid. Trash goods at high prices. Shower caddy pole, $19.00. Amazingly complicated to assemble with springs and collars and metal tubes that clatter to the floor until you get it right. Once in place, it slips and collapses, crashing in pieces on the floor of the shower. It's in the recycling bin now. Over-the-toilet cabinet, that was supposed to take 50 minutes for one person to assemble, took my carpenter father in law and me over an hour and a half. Dowels too small, doors warped and do not fit right, uneven gaps in joinery, looks cheesy, a waste of $139.00. Wish I hadn't bought it - will replace it with something respectable soon. Bought two metal outdoor chairs at $37.00 ea and correct cushions, $36.00 ea. Finish already chipping and rusting. Low, low quality. With sales tax, a cost of $323.00, all for foreign-made junk that I am going to replace in months. Stay away! read more

Back in November, I made an online purchase for in-store pickup at this store. Then a month later, I decided I didn't want it anymore and assumed my orders would be canceled automatically. That's what usually happens to items not picked up. Today, I find out I never got a refund. I decided to check the orders online and guess what. All the orders show them as being "Picked Up" which is very suspicious. Basically, Lowes scammed me because I have never been to this store location. Does customer service exist in this store?, a 90+ degree day i brought my mother to buy some (30) cement squares for a patio .. we were going to buy 60 but since we walked into the garden shop with the cashier just sitting on the bags of soil with no hi how are you nothing!, so we walk to the aisle to pick up the cement squares, with not 1 but 3 guys walk by the aisle look & keep going .. get all of our purchase by ourselves .. This is the second time that I have had this experience at this location. I went to Lowe's for the reason of exchanging the propane tank for my grill, a simple task, shop around for a bit, then when checking out, let the cashier know that I want an exchange. The cashier was nice enough, said thank you and paged the person responsible for exchanging the tanks. I went outside, grabbed the empty tank out of my car and patiently waited next to the tank cages for some one to change my tank. I waited 25 minutes for the person to come assist me. I lost track of the time because I was checking social media on my phone. It was not until another shopper came out and was waiting for the same thing that someone came out to help. I was in the process of calling the store and manager to inquire why it was taking so long, but the attendant came out of the store less than 2 minutes after the other customer. This my second experience like this and now I am not going back to this store, or Lowe's. read more

Worst customer experience I've ever had. Happy with the product, unhappy with the service. I visited Lowe's in Saugus on July 11, 2015 to buy an above-range microwave oven, and had a very positive in-store experience. I ordered the microwave and was told it would be delivered to the store July 28 and installed 2 days later. My experience with Lowe's went downhill after that. July 28 came and went; no word from Lowe's, no word from an installer. When I called to inquire I was told the microwave had not arrived from the manufacturer. On August 6 I finally received a call saying my microwave had arrived in the store and I would be hearing from the installer. No call ever came. The following week I called Lowe's again and they said my microwave would be installed Sat August 15. The installer would call to set up a time. No one called. I called Lowe's again and was told the installer would call Friday night. No call. I called Lowe's again Sat morning and was told I would still hear from the installer. No call. Finally Lowe's decided to hire a different installer, and scheduled me for Sat Aug 22 between 9 and 11. I stayed home and waited. No one came. At 10:30 I called Lowe's and was assured I was on the schedule and someone would be coming. No one came. Lowe's said they could not reach the installer. Finally they scheduled me for Tuesday August 25, and the installer did show up. He said he never received any paperwork from Lowe's for the Saturday installation. I asked Lowe's for a discount and they only offered $50 off on a $500 purchase. read more

Was not impressed, I bought a piece of outdoor equipment and it worked properly for about 1 week. I went to have it repaired and it took 1 month and when I got it back it still wasn't fixed. They returned it, I got the same piece of equipment and it still did the same thing. Would not recommend products from here. read more

After having the most bizarre experience at the Saugus location, all I can say is I agree with the many, many 1 star negative reviews here. We bought a few items and went to check out. One register is open with an actual person. So we're putting items up on register for the lady to scan and several.items have no price sticker for her to scan. Mind you, there are 2 other employees standing right there looking on, she says I can run to the aisle and find ones that have prices? How about the other 2 useless bozos say something like " Let me get that for you" or something. My wife said forget it, I don't want the items without tags if we have to run around trying to find ones with tags. Mind you, we left about 4 items at the checkout which we would have bought. About $40 worth of lost sales. The woman then tells us they dont have any bags to put our purchases in either. She says " I know, I know, well you can complain to the manager or corporate, but it won't matter"???!!! What the hell? No help, no nothing, except oh well, what can you do? It's clear this location is going out of business. The management must be a bunch of idiots. Sad that this is what it has come to. Also they have a sign that says "Open interviews on Wednesdays" they clearly hire anyone on the spot and must give them zero training. Look like a bunch of carnival workers at a fly by night circus. Pathetic. I hope they show all these terrible reviews to the GM. But I doubt they'd give a crap. GM is probably looking for another job as we speak. I would be. Stay away. I enjoy Lowes. I am doing small renovations to my house and very very helpful when it comes to answering my questions. They have what i need and are near my house which is an extra plus! Just be careful to check everything before you leave. I bought a sink and had to take it back twice because there was damages behind the packaging. Save yourself the trouble and go to Home Depot. They fill the isles with display stands and you can barley fit down with a cart. Can't even fit down isles if you have a wagon with lumber. Recently came here for yellow dish gloves, which they don't have. Then came here for a black head house broom and guess what they don't have any on the floor. Then came here for a corner trowel and guess what they might have one in the back hahaha. Total trash of a store. I received the email telling me my order was ready so I went to the Saugus store only to be told they could not find my order so they wanted me to wait while they put my order together from the sales floor. After waiting what seemed like forever I was told sorry we don't have the items you ordered in stock any longer so we can't help you. I said the order has to be here if I received an email saying it was ready. The response was sorry someone must have forget to mark your order. Then to add insult to injury a few days later I received another email telling me my order is still waiting for me to pick it up. I go here often. Lowes Saugus has a great selection of tools, paints, supplies and very knowledgeable staff who greet you and are willing to assist unlike the "orange store." One time there was a complete set of Irwin Spade drill bits that were priced wrong (big time wrong) and when I went to pay for them and they came up as one price, I told them they were listed at a different price (I even took a picture of the display) the cashier did not give me a hard time at all. They honored the price they were displayed at. Yesterday, I went in looking for a product. Even though they have it in their system as something they can order but don't stock, the nice gentleman told me of a janitorial store in Lynn where I could get it that day. He went the extra step and actually pulled it up on his computer so I could get the address and number. This is what I call customer service. They are ALWAYS having Saturday clearance sales where you can get great deals. read more

This place is an insult to customers. Unfortunately, it's the closest place for me to get some stuff, so foolishly I block it out of my mind what this store is like and go there just HOPING I might find what I need, and god forbid if I actually need help from anyone. Tried to order carpet there and arrange installation. Placed the order and next day called the store over and over for 40 minutes with no response before giving up. I cancelled, went to a local carpet store and had it installed within 3 days. Just ordered on-line for pick-up, 2 lousy items that were noted as at least 7 in stock. Ordered yesterday and still not ready for pick-up today. So I went to pick them off the shelves myself and they didn't have the item. I get disgusted just about every time I go in there and feel like a fool for all that I have spent there over the years. I'll pay more at local hardware store for less aggravation and waste of my time. I often go to the one in North Conway, NH ,and Saugus store should take some lessons from them. read more

This has to be the WORST customer service I have experienced. It seems that everything is done by one incompetent individual, and when he is not in the store no one else can proceed. I requested a measurement for a door. Even though I spoke with the representative 2 times, and gave him my number, the number on record was incorrect. So after a week, with no contact from anyone, I called back to find that whoops, my number was never entered. I then waited several more days, after which time I called to request my deposit back. Its been a week, and I have not received my deposit. If the initial individual I dealt with is not around, it seems the rest of the support staff have no idea how to log into the system and complete anything. This person can never go on vacation or quit, so inept as he is, he seems to be able to answer a question without hanging up on me. This location is giving the entire company a horrible rating. read more
