GOAL: Purchase of SYLVANIA 50W Equivalent Dimmable Warm White PAR16 LED Flood Light Bulbs @ $7.14 each. Model No. 79289, Lowe's Item No.783061. Had to tolerate what followed as Lowe's appears only source for item. Lowe's brought new depth of meaning to term "gross incompetence". Liars. When lies exposed, repeatedly hung up upon. Visited Lowe's in Saugus, MA and store had 1. Sales clerk said 10 were listed as available in Salem, NH store and that, if I called, could purchase from there and have shipped to me. I call Salem, NH and personnel advise can only locate 5. Not unusual. So I state grateful for what I can get. But then I am told (1) that store cannot ship (either to me or to Saugus store) and (2) don't know why Saugus personnel told me otherwise. Next go to Lowe's web site which states item available through June 25th at on line "sale price" of $11.68 or 64% higher than what I paid in Saugus store. Listing says shipping available. Trying to discover why price difference and to get at price I paid in Saugus, I attempt to telephone in order (800-445-6937 which is national sales line listed for Lowe's). I am twice disconnected in the process. Then I reach a rep and told that price is actually $5.19 and that there are 18 available in Lowe's Rochester, NH store. I advise that I will take all 18. Then told there is shipping "freight charge" of $95! When I note that is more than the $93.42 total cost of the items which can be sent as a package weighing under 5 lbs. Lowe's rep asks me to wait to see if she can do better. She returns and advises that the price on the bulbs is $7.14 (the price I paid in Saugus) and that there are only 5 units (not 18) in Rochester. She also advises - if I am willing to wait a few extra days - Lowe's will ship 13 more units to the Rochester store, at which time I will still have to pay the $95. in shipping charges. I reply, if Lowe's can ship 13 units to Rochester, why can't it ship the units to its Saugus store so that I can avoid the $95 shipping charge? LOWE'S NATIONAL REP RESPONDS BY HANGING UP ON ME. I then call back again, get a new rep on the phone, ask to speak with a supervisor, and am AGAIN HUNG UP UPON when - after advising that I have already been on the phone with Lowe's for over 40 minutes on the matter -- decline to let the answering rep try to resolve situation on his own. I call back still again and this time able to reach a supervisor. I am civil but advise that I am not pleased at the way that Lowe's has conducted itself in this matter and that customers deserve better treatment than I received. No apology. Instead, told she will try to help but that she will not tolerate receipt of any criticism as to the conduct of Lowe's personnel! She asks for time to look into the situation. When she returns, offers to sell and repeatedly tries to get me to buy 50 watt PAR 20 bulbs and not the PAR 16s that I need. When I advise that I can't substitute Par 20s because they are too large to fit in my fixtures, she then offers to sell me 60 watt halogens. Again, I advise that these are totally unacceptable as I want the benefit of lower electrical cost and longevity. Obvious that rep is totally ignorant as to electrical matters. When she advises that she is only trying to help, I respond fine but we are talking apples & oranges - I am trying to buy apples and she is trying to sell me oranges. At that point she (obviously) reads a printed statement to the effect that the product is unavailable as Lowe's no longer sells the product. I respond by asking who the liar is - all of the Lowe's reps that I previously spoke with offering to sell me the item or herself. She RESPONDED BY HANGING UP ON ME. Wasted over an hour on this garbage. I fully understand that it's a necessary fact of life that items are discontinued or that stores can run out. But that is not what happened here. I also want to emphasize that the local personnel that I dealt with in Lowe's Saugus and Salem stores were courteous and tried to help. The problems arose when I contacted Lowe's national operations - and that is a reflection of the contempt that Lowe's executives have with regard to their customers. It's a 200% F - - "K YOU" attitude. Today, Lowe's operates a chain of 2300 stores, employing 290,000 employees and with annual sales in 2017 in excess of $65 billion. In dealing with me, however, Lowe's acted with all the contempt as if the year is 1870 and that the store is the retail division of a coal mine conglomerate that works its employees (ages 8 and up) 6-1/2 day weeks, pays them not in cash but in chits that are only valid to buy goods at the company stores (at three times what the goods sell for elsewhere) and that I am one of those serfs. As to Lowe's 21st century delivery system, I suppose that I should be glad that there wasn't a surcharge to pay for the hay fed the horses that pull their freight wagons. read more

Joe in appliances was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious. He made sure that the products that I purchased were carefully documented and readily available and when they were not, Joe kept me updated on their possible delivery dates. His attention to detail made my shopping for my all new kitchen appliances a breeze. When the fridge arrived and was "too big", the delivery had to be returned and a credit issued. Joe was right there for me when I needed to select another counter depth fridge. He was just as pleasant for this added purchase. Thank you Joe. Everything looks great! read more

Well, that was a disaster... all I wanted was to get a replacement range hood delivered and installed. I was renting out my condo out to a tenant (I was traveling in New Zealand at the time), so when I set up the online order, I asked them to call my tenant to arrange the delivery/installation. They said they'd added the tenant's phone number to the order. Imagine my surprise when I got a middle-of-the-night (New Zealand time) phone call from an automated system demanding I pick a delivery date. There was no option to speak to a human. I contacted Lowe's and the customer service rep told me that there was no way to tell the automated system to use a different number, and also no way to schedule a delivery date except by going through the automated system. Their only suggestion was to cancel my order. So okay, take two - I canceled my order, and asked my tenant to make the order herself (with me reimbursing her costs), since that seemed like the only way to get her contact information into the system. Delivery and installation were scheduled for a date two months after the original order - which seemed like a long delay, but okay, we waited. Delivery date rolled around, and it turned out that at some point Lowe's had quietly canceled and refunded the order, with no notification to anyone involved. My tenant called customer service to ask why it had been canceled and was told "we have no idea". The sheer incompetence on display was impressive, and has convinced me not to shop at this store again. The only good thing I can say was that the cancellation process was easy and we did get full refunds, so at least this didn't cost me anything (except that three months later I still don't have a working range hood). read more

I have bought a dishwasher at Lowe's in Saugus, MA at the end of November 2016. The dishwasher only arrived in mid-February 2017, which meant that I have paid full price including installation but had to wait two and a half months for delivery. I had to pay extra for installation, since it was dimmed as a two person job and not a one person job. The installers did not bring a mat to cover the kitchen floor and did not clean after themselves, which meant a very dirty kitchen floor. They also did not do a nice finish job, which meant more cleaning of the dishwasher itself and covering the screws that hold the dishwasher itself in place. (It comes with a cover, but it was not installed well) A very unprofessional job. I have asked Lowe's to correct that, but as of today (May 2017) they never bothered. read more

The philosophy of Lowe's seems to be "blame the customer" and "it's not our responsibility, sucker." We bought a snow blower last winter along with a three-year service plan. The salesman said if the unit didn't start, they'd get it working or they come clear the walks themselves. We never used the snowblower last season. When it refused to start in early Feb. during the big snowstorm, I hauled it into the Lowe's store where I bought it. They sent it out for repair--and then called me to report it needed a new carburetor ...for $198. "What about the service agreement,"I asked. "That repair isn't covered," they said. Update 6/9/17 - Stopped by the store this morning and spoke with the manager Ron. Ron was extremely helpful, courteous, and confirmed my order was in fact there. It was nice to have someone solve the issue and apologize for the inconvenience instead making excuses. Thank you Ron! Worst Customer Service I've ever experienced and it's unfortunate because Lowes does have a better selection of merchandise than other hardware stores. I placed an order online 6 weeks ago for pick-up June 1st. I received notification and a call that my order was in on the 1st. I went to the store 2 days later and was rudely told the order was still In Process and to call the next business day. I explained how online the status for the items was "ready for pickup" and that I received a phone call telling me my order was in. The Customer Service Rep wanted no part of it and told me she didn't know why it said that because it wasn't there and there was nothing else she could do about it. She didn't even have anyone physically look to see if the order was there, she just shushed me away. I've called every day since and have been told the shipment is 3 days late...ya well it's been a week now so clearly it isn't 3 days late. I was also told Customer Service would call the manufacturer and call me back with an update...that didn't happened either. I even called back to see if anyone called the manufacturer as promised and the same person who told me she would call the manufacturer now claimed she just got on her shift and had no clue what I was talking about. Interesting since it was the same voice and she had the same name. Not happy at all and still can't track down my order. I guarantee it's there if someone would get off their butt and physically look for it. read more

Tried Lowes in Woburn BUT, at the paint department I was totally ignored. The two men working(???) there fiddled around, looked at me but, Never asked me what I wanted. I left without making a purchase--Home Depot got my business. Foolishly I went back to Lowes. This time the guy was much too busy to bother with me & brushed me off. Haven't been back there for three years. Will have to be desperate or be able to get what I want myself before I'll go back there, besides, Home Depot is closer & cheaper. read more

Don't shop here for plumbing parts, their plumbing isle staff are lazy and useless; when you can't find something that is supposed to be on stock on their website and you ask for help, they respond with "we don't have such thing" or "I don't know" This people need some serious training!! Contrary to the other Yelp reviews, my experience with this Lowes has been largely positive. So far, I've bought a new refrigerator, a new cooktop, and a new dishwasher (all stainless steel) on good clearance discounted prices from the Appliance department during the Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales. Service has been stellar - make sure you talk to Joe or Rich at the Appliance department. My dishwasher was missing a drain hose and some clips, and Rich took the effort to find me a spare hose and spare parts, and took the effort to help me pick out the necessary water inlet hose connectors. Joe arranged delivery of my fridge, and spent time making sure it was the model and size that I needed. I've had a good experience with Lowes delivery as well. They even deliver on Sundays! read more

Lowes is supposed to meet or beat competitors pricing and yet they won't even honor their own pricing. Lowes Danvers MA was selling Utilitech Universal Plaster Frame Kit Item # 0013684 / Model # 9209901 for $1.49 and Lowes Saugus wanted $2.98. When I pointed this out to the late shift Assistant Store Manager, he refused to honor the Lowes Danvers price even after I provided him with a reciept of my purchase. He was rude and did absolutely nothing to correct the $14.90 difference in price. He rather lose thousands of dollars worth or my 2 story addition business than honor a mere $1.49 sale price advertised throught Lowes stores in New England and Lowes On line. I was appalled at his action and told him point blank that I was going to file a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General for False Advertising and have already filed multiple complaints with Lowes.com. I plan on calling their headquarters tomorrow to file additional phone complaints. While $14.90 is nothing for me, this is an issue on principle. The lied about matching competitors price when they won't even honor their own store prices. The nightime assitant store manager that I dealt with last night at Saugus new nothing about customer service and even encouraged me to go to another Lowes store. I told him how bout I take my business to home depot. I told the closing manager that I will see his boss in the morning as I intend to return cart loads of items i bought for my 2 story addition to his story in the morning. He didn't even care! I wished I could have returned the 2 seat jacuzzi that I paid thousands of dollars to buy from Lowes. Its unfortunate that it is too big for me to remove from our new bathroom as we hauled it up the roof during construction. It is still boxed in the new master bath addition. Can you believe that Lowes Saugus doesn't honor pricing from other Lowes stores at least as it relates to this one item that I purchased? We consumers have the power and wallet to shop elsewhere when we aren't being treated right. I plan to be a lot more loyal to Home Depot in my current and future renovations. Good customer service. I ran in, and bought an item. I thought it was new (it wasn't marked as used or discounted). When I brought it home, I found it was a used item; someone had dented it and returned it. I called them. They made things right over the phone; I didn't even have to come in, and they were quite generous about how they handled it. read more

i bought a $1100 snow blower from this store and it has been nothing but a nightmare. After using the snowblower 3 or 4 times the chute broke then the it wont pickup or throw the snow. After finally giving up i elected to try to return it. The store REFUSED to to take it back because it was 45 days after purchased ( their policy is 30 days) the store manager was rude and useless. They finally agreed to come get the piece of crap (free of charge ) after trying to get me to pay for delivery and try to fix it. Its been 2 weeks and still havent heard a word. Where do I begin!!! 1 months after ordering all new appliances they still have not been delivered the day after they were supposed to be delivered I got a call saying they're all out of the fridge when we bought it a month ago on tax free weekend. I was informed the refrigerator would take up to 10 more days but all of my appliances would be delivered the very next day. They never showed up! two days later I got a call saying the delivery truck broke down but he would be here the next morning. the following day the delivery truck dropped off a door not the one we ordered but no appliances. I am a realtor and a property investor i would never be doing business with you again..... I still don't have my appliances and I have no answers $8,000 later what's going on. I must start by saying that too many times I see people blogging their complaints on this without ever giving the establishment a chance to correct the situation, which ultimately will damage a reputation. However, I have given this particular store more than several chances to correct the situation I presented to them. Not only did this store not care, but their corporate office cared even less which was reflected by the lack of return phone calls. Yes, this store offers a larger selection than Home Depot and is great if you just need to purchase some smaller items, however, their ability to provide service for larger items (installation of flooring, kitchens, etc) is beyond an embarrassment. I will never purchase another item from this company and I will be sure to share my experience on several other media sites. read more

I should've known getting an appliance delivered from a big box retailer was a mistake before I did it. On a tax free weekend I ordered a dishwasher on-line to be delivered to a condo I owned but which I live a an hour away from. I scheduled delivery for 4-5 days after their first possible date so I could be assured they'd have it and no excuses. I was supposed to receive a call the night before indicating a 2 hour delivery window. No call came. I called the next morning and spoke to the delivery manager who said he was waiting on the truck and I'd get a call soon to tell me when to expect it that day. I called back a second time and told the same thing. Third time was about 2 pm where a helpful associate informed me the delivery manager leaves for the day by then and unavailable. She helped look but couldn't help much without the delivery manager around. At 4 pm, the third party delivery company called to apologize they would not be making delivery. I took a day off work and drove an hour each way to the condo and wasted a day. The Lowe's delivery manager never called to apologize or rearrange delivery, its was all the third party company trying to get the delivery resurrected. I don't know about other people but if I were in that role I wouldn't go home until I knew every delivery customer was being taken care of that day or called with an apology. I'll still go occasionally to Lowe's for things to get but never order a delivery item and go through that experience again. I should have read reviews here which aren't flattering. I have mixed emotions on this store. First, we ordered flooring that was out of stock, and was told there are 5 deliveries a week. Seven days went by and we found out no one had placed the order. My husband had to speak to a manager and he promptly put a rush on it. Second, I bought a gallon of paint, put in on my walls, and realized I needed another quart. When I went back, I couldn't remember the color and couldn't find the color sample I had taken home, so I had to return home and get the can. Upon returning to the store with the can, someone had forgot to put the label on the can with the paint number on it. Someone was finally able to remind me what color I needed, so I asked for a quart. When I did touch up on my walls later that day, it was a shade darker! Now I had to paint the room all over again! Back to the store the next day and I told Lowe's what happened, and they did the right thing. They gave me a new gallon of the same color for free. Kudos on that one! Nonetheless, I still had to come home and paint the whole room over. read more
