Nice date spot. Order at the bar beer. Although our top two beers were tapped. The food was good. Got the smash burger and sweet potato fries. Both were really good. Service took awhile to order but it was a Friday night.

While the burger in this photo doesn't look like much, it surely satisfies! Double smash burger patties, onions, pickles, cheese and sauce. So simple and yet so good. $12.

Came here during Portland beer week and I loved the restaurant itself along with the service. It was such a great vibe amongst all the patrons and staff members. They have so many options for drinks. Though, the Portland beer week we were able to choose a taster tray and the majority of all the beers we selected to choose from were not great lol but we know there are plenty more options on their regular menu that are so don't be discouraged. Love the variety that they have!

Parking is hard to find especially after work hours. Inside this beer bar ~ cozy two tops or larger booths for four. Not an interesting vibe despite above average furniture. Expansive outdoor seating. Hard to find clean tables inside or outside. So many taps. Great selection. Decent special brews. Service ~ downright entitled. It is not logical to self seat, then have to come up to the counter, talk over shoulders sitting at the bar and bring your own drinks back. The apathetic attitude should not be in this industry. Get your own water is what they say. Food menu is so-so, bar snacks and sausage overcooked over greens. Just not good. Just come for the beer and not much else.

What a great tap house with lots of local beers and lots of seating. They do seem to have a partnership or preference with a few, given how prevalent they are on the taps. The food is to be expected bar food. Hits the spot while drinking beer but not the consideration when selecting a place to go out. When we sat down at about 3:30ish on a Thursday, at the bar, service was pretty good. However when they got busier, even with more staff, the service became spotty. Everyone does order at the bar for food and drinks so it can get uncomfortable crowded during a rush.

    Old Fashioned

This place absolutely nails the laid-back, open-air bar vibe. The patio is spacious with string lights overhead, communal picnic tables, and a casual crowd that makes it easy to settle in and relax. Perfect for golden hour drinks or catching up with friends as the evening rolls in. I tried two cocktails: * The first was a Cucumber margarita that hit the spot with just the right balance of citrus and spice. The mint leaf garnish added a nice aromatic touch. * The second was a classic Old Fashioned served in a custom LL glass -- smooth, slightly smoky, and well-crafted. It's always a good sign when a bar treats the basics with this much care. The bartenders were friendly and quick, even with the crowd growing steadily. The ambiance feels thoughtfully curated without trying too hard -- a little rustic, a little modern, and all-around inviting.

    Hugo spritz and peach margarita

Great place to watch football, there are big TVs, and the bartenders were attentive even though it was packed on a Saturday night. They also have an outdoor seating area and a wide variety of beer and drinks. We got the peach margarita, Hugo spritz, #25 and #18. Also ordered tater tots, 10/10.

Basket of tots and enough ketchup for about half of them. Nobody came to ask how food was so I guess it was okay.

Don't bother ordering food. We ordered a Cesar salad with chicken, a basket of tots and a sausage. After waiting at least 10 min at bar to order was told food would take 30 min, it was about an hour. Not 40 min, not 45..an hour. One cup of ketchup for a basket of tots? I was concerned to go ask for more thinking that would be another 10. Lackluster service. I was surprised to see people coming in. I get it was busy, I don't get a kitchen cannot get food out. It's not top end food either. It's pub food. No need to return.

Smash Burger, edges were smashed, but don't be deceived, this was not a smashed patty

We sat outside, they have heaters. We thought they were known for their smash burgers, we were wrong. There was a thin edge but the burger wasn't smashed, the patty was over salted. The bun was too thick, over all the burger was dry. Three people at my table ordered the smash and we won't be ordering it again. This review is based on our smash burger experience.

Unicorn Stuff & an Old Fashion

Loyal Legion is a reliable stop for delicious food and tasty cocktails. I always order the loaded fries and Unicorn Stuff (gin &lemon). The interior is open and cozy and there is a large outdoor seating area as well. The only downside is that you order food and drinks at the bar and the line gets backed up. The prices are a bit steep for self serve, however the food and drink always satisfy my appetite.

McLoyal smashburger and sweet potato fries is my go-to meal when I stop in here. My son tried the Falafel burger and tots but ended up eating my sweet potato tots! We ordered the pretzel with cheese sauce and it was an ok snack. I love the variety of taps and ciders. They have a great outside patio when the weather is great this is my favorite place to be.

You could call me old fashioned but that's a whiskey preposition . It doesn't take much to convince me to come to a place that has a good old fashioned and my hubby knows how to play with that weakness .He frequents this place and so while we were in the area, he recommended we come in for a drink . We were seated immediately, as the place was not too full on a weekday night . Love the high ceilings and the spacious vibe that this place has. The booths provide privacy as well as comfortable seating . In addition there is also bar seating. As highly recommended by the hubby I got myself an Old Fashioned and thoroughly enjoyed it .. so much so that I got another one right after it . The alcohol list is impressive and I can see why my hubby likes coming here . We also got the Hummus plate and The double smash burger. The burger was ah-mazing ! Everything from the bun to the patty was utter perfection. There isn't much in terms of service interaction on your seat because you order at the bar and get your drinks yourself but they do get the food out for you . They were fast and efficient from what I could tell . It was a great spot to chill out , get a good drink and dinner and I do see myself returning as well as recommending them to others.

There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. Absolutely lunch was a wonderful change of culinary pace that I am excited to try again soon. This restaurant was recommended to me by some friends I hold as having excellent taste. All they mentioned was French inspired or French fusion, and knowing I haven't been to many of those my wife and I went here without looking at the menu. Looking at the menu, I'll tell you that it was not what I expected so much so that I forgot to take pictures of it because I spent all my time trying to decide what I wanted. I think not looking anything up was probably the best decision I could've made because that led to us choosing some dishes that I think we normally wouldn't have ordered. We tried to steam cheeseburgers, the steak, tartar, garlic, fries, foie gras dumplings, and gnocchi. Also got some specialty drinks. Service was amazing, if I was really nice, did not take too much time at all to get food, and the food itself was special. (Specials is the best word I can use to describe discovering new flavors, my age ) Two thumbs up, will be coming back again, and excited to try everything on the menu! Also, note that they do have some parking in the front of the building so if you're going for lunch, try there first instead of worrying about parking blocks away.

If you only hit one craft cocktail bar on your visit to Portland, make it this one…read more Wax Social is a speakeasy and vinyl listening lounge tucked inside a Best Western in the West Hills.. and I mean that in the best way possible. Super moody lighting, hundreds of framed musician photos covering every wall, warm comfortable seating, and a custom hi-fi sound system that will rearrange your expectations for what a speakeasy bar and listening lounge can be. It's a hidden gem in the most literal sense: no signage on the outside and nothing to tip you off as you enter the building. To find Wax Social you walk through the hotel lobby at 9900 SW Canyon Rd, up a staircase left of the registration desk, and look around until you find a frosted glass door marked "Listening Lounge." Open it. You'll be glad you did. Start with the cocktails. The menu is split between elevated timeless classics and original house creations, and both sections of this cocktail menu can bang. The King of Pain is rum-forward and finished with an orange coconut foam that looks as good as it tastes. The Watermelon Man showcases Japanese gin and elderflower in a refreshing and complex profile that's hard not to love. The Sweetest Taboo is a mezcal drink built around blue maize, red bell pepper, pineapple, and lime that hits that rare combination of bold and perfectly balanced. Light My Fire brings blanco tequila and Ancho Reyes together with habanero bitters for real depth. If you want to wander off-menu, they can handle that flawlessly too. Over several visits I've enjoyed a Paper Plane, Tommy's Margarita, Gimlet, Last Word, Too Soon, and others, all executed perfectly. On one visit, the guy next to me at the bar was visiting Portland from Sweden and ordered a Flip. I've been to a lot of craft cocktail bars and never heard someone order one. Clayton, one of the bartenders, didn't blink. Went right to work making a luxurious Flip from memory that the customer couldn't stop raving about. I was impressed. Clayton is also working on several rum-forward cocktails coming to the menu later this summer - I love rum drinks enough to say that sitting at the bar talking shop and the concepts he's tinkering with is worth a visit on its own. Full mocktail lineup, plus wine, bubbles, and craft beers. Now about the sound system. DJs spin all-vinyl sets of funk, soul, R&B, and deep cuts across decades on a custom hi-fi setup that sounds absolutely incredible. Even when the DJ is in full flow and the music is turned up, you can still hold an easy conversation with a group of six or eight people. I've been there with a large group in the back corner on couches and comfortable chairs and everyone kept commenting on it. The music is present and powerful and somehow never swallows the laughter and conversation happening around you. They clearly built this bar around the music. The food is a genuine surprise for a craft cocktail lounge. Think small plates/tapas in terms of dining style: you come for the drinks and next thing you know you've ordered half the menu, made a dinner of it, and somehow backed into a beautiful evening of food, drink, and music. Must-orders: ahi poke nachos, deviled eggs, braised pork gnocchi. Don't overlook the shaved asparagus and white bean salad with sherry vinaigrette, Manchego, and crispy shallots. Simple and elegant and every bit as good as the more indulgent plates. Steak bites and shrimp are worth ordering too. Bring friends so you can order more and share. Owners Sean and Travis are present most nights, greeting you at the door and checking in at your table. That care shows in everything here, including a staff that knows how to read the room. A few things worth knowing: parking is easy, the location is simple to reach from Portland or Beaverton, and the bathrooms are spotless. Open late on weekends. Whether you're planning a romantic date night in Portland, a special occasion, a group night out, or just a solo evening at the bar with someone who really knows cocktails, this is your spot. The lamb butter rice had a similar issue: very salty, with only a small amount of lamb and a relatively small portion of rice. The server was very nice and friendly and did a great job taking care of us. The atmosphere is probably the biggest draw. The restaurant has a beautiful, almost jungle-like vibe, with plants hanging throughout the space, making it a fun and stylish place to relax and enjoy some drinks. Overall, we spent about $70 for two entrées and two drinks, which felt a bit pricey considering the portions and the saltiness of the food. The food wasn't bad, but this isn't the place I'd choose if you're looking purely for great food. It feels more like a place to enjoy the atmosphere, have some creative drinks, and hang out.
