    Tian Jin Pancake (original flavour)
    Sylvia Y.

Lu's is currently (and I believe has been for the past year) strictly take out only. I've been here a few years again for a late night snack, I knew they serve beer & specialized in skewers, but only recently found out they're also a Tian Jin style breakfast joint by day. Of course I had to try the classic Tian Jin Pancake, my judgement is always based on the original flavour, with no additional meats. A typical pancake is made with a green bean dough base topped with a thin layer of fried egg, cilantro and green onion on the exterior. On the interior, a thick glaze of a bean sauce, either spicy or non-spicy, and the option of a fried crispy something - sometimes a piece of Chinese fried donut or a fried piece of wonton skin. On most occasions a portion of the original very of pancake is more than sufficient for my liking, it's delicious all around, not too bland and not too overwhelmingly flavourful for a breakfast item. This pancake lacked a lot of flavour, it got boring and started to become a drag to eat a few bites in. I assume it's because I didn't top it up with fillings I.e ham or sausage etc., but the original flavour should really taste good alone, this was sub par. The wonton soup was my favorite of the meal, it consisted of 10 two-biter sized pork wontons in a seaweed & white pepper soup base. The soup wasn't spicy to taste but made me and my stomach feel so cozy on the inside, the best for a chilly / rainy weekend - I'd definitely order this again.

Quite some skewer options here. I tried the house special lamb, beef, scallops, wings, backstrap, lamb chop and their fish with fish roe on skewers. As our side we tried the green onion pancake. Most of the skewers were tasted good. My favourite is the lamb and 2nd is the beef. The scallops were overcooked and the backstrap was too chewy for me. Green onion pancakes were on the doughy side and need a bit more seasoning but if paired with the meat skewers and it's perfect. I like that it's right across from Richmond Centre. So convenient.

If you like what we like, you'll like this place. Yaya and I decided to try this place and come before the dinner rush. Which was perfect timing for a snack for us after a relaxing massage earlier. Hungry for BBQ or grilled meat on a skewer and some cleansing veggies we came here. Upon entering we were wafted with the smells that could only come from countries that cook with Cumin. The grilled meat and cumin smell almost had a Chinese herbal shop smell to it and both of us said we liked this smell. Maybe others wouldn't like it, but we did. Sat down and ordered up a bunch of items from pork belly, okra, tofu, chicken knees, asparagus and bacon, beef tongue and some black fungus salad otherwise called Agaric here. The latter is to help cleanse the body and move the meats during digestion. In other words so you won't get stuck with meat in your belly. Price is reasonable, service is available in English, but they do speak Mandarin. They do have some great looking Mandarin style wuntun soups and seaweed soups which I will have to come for lunch and try them out. This will be one of the go to places now for us when we want yakitori style food Chinese style.

Please don't order Chinese crepes. If you have to , don't add the sausage. Taste wired and gross. Waiting time for food is lengthy.

Courtside Food and Drinks - Good chicken burger and kale salad

I stopped by to watch the Canada game a few days ago, and I immediately loved the atmosphere. The bar had a cozy and welcoming vibe. I sat at the bar, and the service was warm and attentive. I also noticed they have a small patio in the back, which looks like the perfect spot to enjoy a meal on a summer day. I ordered the chicken burger with a kale salad instead of fries. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the sauce was delicious, and everything came together on a soft, fresh bun. I also appreciated that the burger wasn't oversized - it was just the right portion. The kale salad was equally impressive. It was fresh and lightly dressed. I had such a great time enjoying my meal while watching the game. If you're looking for a comfortable spot to catch a sporting event, especially with a group of three or four people, I would absolutely recommend this place.

Furthermore, I feel like a place like this is what Vancouver needs and otherwise lacks: a gathering place for diehard NBA fans in cheer and analyze games together. I've appreciated the service each time I've been to Courtside - staff find a good balance between letting you enjoy the game while also being available (but not pushy) if you want to order more food or drinks. I had a burger and fries at Courtside and found the meal to be decent, however, not spectacular - I think the main attraction is still the atmosphere the place provides

The restaurant dining area is fairly typical looking - similar to Cactus Club, Joey's and Browns. Nice enough and well kept, but nothing outstanding. We tried the following items from the Happy Hour menu: - Smashed Avocado Dip: OK. The dip itself was much spicier than expected, so my wife couldn't eat it. The tortilla chips were good, but found the taro chips not so good. - Miso Tuna Crispy Rice: Good. My favourite dishes of the night. Like a regular sushi, but using crispy rice gives it nicer texture and flavour. - Steak Frites: OK. Steak was the right doneness, but not the best quality. Fries were average, and greens were limp. Service was OK. Our server did the minimum, and nothing more. A lot of the staff seemed to be chatting among themselves, instead of providing better attention to their customers. It took awhile to get plate cleared and get our bill. Overall it was OK. We went for Happy Hour to get better value, and we got that. I wouldn't have been very happy if we got the same food at full price.

A Pleasant Surprise in a New City…read more While aimlessly wandering through a new city, I stumbled upon this spot and figured, "Why not?" With only a handful of patrons inside, my skepticism was high, but the visit turned out to be a positive one. I started with a light crisp draft beer that hit the spot perfectly. For food, I only took appetizers...the roasted brussels sprouts and chicken wings. Both are what you would expect from typical bar fare - tasty, well-prepared and satisfying without blowing you away. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing disappointing either. The vibe is ideal for catching up with friends. The front outdoor patio sits right along side a busy street, yet the noise level stayed comfortable enough for easy conversation. It felt a bit quiet during my Monday afternoon visit on a public holiday, but I can easily see it being a lively and fun hangout on a weekend. Overall, this was a decent spot and a good find. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood.

The second time around wings were better than the first ie my first review! They were crispy, still juicy inside and sauced real well. I've also had their smash burger which has been my favourite meal so far, it's absolutely delicious!! The double patty double cheese with pickles and onions is like a gourmet fast food burger - it has everything you need! It comes with choice of curly fries or regular fries or a salad, always get the curlies they're really good! I also love their Cesars, always really tasty which I find can be hard to nail at restaurants - this one is really good! Service is good, sometimes a touch slow if it's a busy night but always super friendly. The Saturday night crowd is always buzzing because of trivia and it's a fun time all around. We will be back plenty!
