If you're looking for homemade breakfast treats and coffee, LuAnn's is a fantastic home town favorite! They have their regular restaurant (Rte. 83) which has a decent size dining area with a breakfast and lunch menu that won't disappoint! I figured the restaurant was good on it's own, but now they built a second location with a drive thru window. This new location is across the street from the Big Y plaza in Ellington. The staff in both locations is super friendly, service is quick, and of course the food is fantastic! I can't say enough good things about LuAnn's. I went to LuAnns on a Saturday morning to enjoy some coffee with friends. The place was very popular and all the outside seating was already taken, but luckily they had plenty of indoor available. They have a lot of drink options and all reasonably priced. Their snicker doodle coffee was particularly good! They have a lot of food options as well, I'd say they are a bit pricey but definitely quality. Folks inside were friendly and quick to serve the people in line. I recently visited Luann's Bakery and Cafe and was pleasantly surprised by the small town ambiance. The inside of the restaurant had a nice cottage core atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming staff! We enjoyed their chicken fiesta wrap and honey mustard grilled chicken wrap which were very filling and delicious. The side salads were accompanied with a house dressing that had a sweet garlic vinaigrette that was incredibly delicious and left us wanting more. Luann's also had an extensive variety of baked goods and other treats to go. We sampled their pumpkin pie fudge and cookies and cream fudge which was decadent and delicious! Highly recommend paying them a visit, looking forward to eating there again. read more

Luann's hits it out of the park on every category. Food is fresh, tasty and the combinations of ingredients is creative on regular menu items and daily specials. My favorite coffee in the state, not sure if it's the beans they use or the equipment, but it is amazing, and reasonably priced. You can get it hot or iced, and each month they pick a beverage that they donate $1 for the sake of each drink to a charity (charity changes monthly). I usually get the quiche and side salad combo for lunch, and no breakfast is complete without an insanely good cinnamon roll. I love supporting local businesses, and they make it easy by being one of the best spots around! So go in, get a yummy meal and beverage, and sit down and enjoy yourself! read more

I'm in town for my little girls swim meet at the Y and we had some time to kill between the warm-ups and race so we headed to this cute cafe I had bookmarked to grab lunch. My one regret is that we live an hour away because EVERYTHING was so delicious. The latte is so yummy. The salad was fresh, the dressing and croutons were a 10/10. I got the Miss Mollie panini and it was literally Christmas on bread. Amazing! Never had anything like that, perfect for a fall day. The praline and cinnamon sweet flavors of the baked ham were so delightful. Will def look to be back sometime. Also, peep the cute pay it forward board. This is a cozy breakfast spot on the "East side" as I like to call it to catch up with friends over coffee. I met a friend here today for breakfast based my fellow Yelpers recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. The customer service was great and the restaurant was warm and cozy with a fireplace and views of glistening snow in the neighborhood. With some help, I ordered and tried the chocolate chip scone with a scrambled egg bowl (toppings of red peppers, onions and roasted sweet potatoes), and black coffee. Coffee was good. Egg bowl was tasty but I didn't really enjoy the eggs because they weren't soft scrambled eggs but the toppings helped with flavor. I couldn't tell whether the eggs were fresh eggs or egg beater eggs... it had no butter to soften it. The scone was really good. Suggestions: the staff should bring silverware with the food once it's delivered at the table or have silverware + napkins at the table. I was a little confused but my waitress was very helpful. Overall great experience and I'd recommend LuAnn's to friends. I'd certainly return to try more baked goods. read more

Heard about this place but was blown away on our first visit! All made from scratch baked goods. One of a kind dishes, pastries, sandwiches, espresso drinks. There is a take and bake selection fridge and freezer full of homemade goodies! I had the Marianna with a blueberry scone, my husband had a maple bacon gourmet breakfast sandwich with a peach cinnamon roll-Both were incredible! Espresso drinks and bottomless coffee were better than local coffee shop chains. They had handmade local gifts in their gift shop. The bakery items are all made on sight and the cupcake selection was mouthwatering! The service is super friendly. Loved visiting this local bakery! The owner and his family are all involved in the business and it shows! Nothing goes unnoticed. They really know how to take care of their patrons. Luann's is an amazing bakery that I only found over a year ago due to the Ellington Farmers market which they have a booth at! Luann's is so popular that when I went to buy something they were sold out and it still has over a hour or more to go. So of course I went to the main bakery to check it out. Their cupcakes are fabulous and delicious and very decadent ! They look so good and taste the same. Their pies are really really good and they make some fun and different combinations which recently bought which was a peach/raspberry pie which I really liked . I have had their blueberry and mixed berry and strawberry rhubarb pies and all are really good. Their crust is yummy. This Thanksgiving I have my order in for pies, cupcakes and dinner rolls. They are now making gluten free for the holidays and a select group of pies, pecan, pumpkin, apple crumble and blueberry crumble. Can't wait to taste them! Love it! The food here gives me a headache. Literally my head was pounding for hours after I had their drinks. And I've been here multiple times they all gave me headaches for some reason. I ordered a MariAna on Wecca (sp?) bread. It was Turkey, cheese, bacon, & tomato. I asked what Wecca bread was & was told it was like a white bread. Ok. Sounds good! I don't know how it took me so long to learn about this gem since I grew up in nearby Enfield, but once you know about LuAnn's...you KNOW. The ambiance is wonderful, the staff are so friendly, and the baked goods are equally beautiful and delicious. Since I'm vegan, I can't try everything available, but it's fantastic that they have options for me. (The vegan blueberry donut is particularly tasty.) Currently, with coronavirus spreading throughout Connecticut, they are making deliveries to local healthcare workers. I connected with Josh to see about how I could get a facility included, and he quickly made a delivery happen that was hugely appreciated by staff. This was the staff feedback: "The food from LuAnn's was AMAZING! They sent salad, wraps and the most incredible cupcakes! Many staff have said they are the best cupcakes they have ever eaten in their lifetime!!!! Everyone was grateful and appreciative for the meal!" In short, not only does this place have good food and good service, they're also good neighbors in the community. This review is long overdue, and I'm not sure I am allowed enough characters in this box to fully express how much our family LOVES LuAnn's. Everything about LuAnn's is outstanding, but I will try to just focus on two of the most amazing parts: the staff and the food. Our family stops here multiple times per week (not an exaggeration), and we have yet to order something that we don't love. The sandwiches, soups and salads are all delicious, and ALL of the pastries and cupcakes are so, so good. In fact, we have pre-ordered cupcakes from LuAnn's (cookie monster themed, as they will make them whatever flavor and theme you want!) for every birthday party each of my sons has had in the past five years and they are always a highlight! Now, for every birthday party we have, our family and guests says, "I was hoping there would be a LuAnn's salad and cupcakes at this party!" (you can also order catering sized salads--the house salad is a huge hit every time for us). Then there is the staff---always so friendly, so happy and so helpful. They even greet you by name :). Luann's doesn't typically stock vegan pies, but we asked for a special order and are now addicted. We buy at least one a week. FANTASTIC!! So far we've had blueberry, cherry, apple and strawberry rhubarb. My very favorite is the cherry which is tart-sweet and so yummy. Crust is flaky as can be. Daughter's favorite is apple and husband's favorite is strawberry rhubarb. They do NOT last very long in our household. GO VEGAN! My husband and I had a lot of time to kill while in CT for a wedding. We found this place by chance after a little Google search for some coffee shops in the area. Probably one of the best coffees and scones I have had in a long time. I also got a breakfast sandwich that was phenomenal. The bread they served it on was exceptional. My husband also loved the berry muffin he got. We ended up grabbing some cupcakes on our way out to bring to some friends and they were a huge hit. Great lunch at Luanns today. After going to the main location a few times, my bf and I decided to check out the drive thru location and it did not disappoint. Although the line was kind of long with cars, it moved pretty fast and we were at the ordering station before we knew it. I was a little under prepared and ordered the first things I saw on the menu: a frozen Carmel latte, pulled pork sandwich which came with a side (I picked a salad w/ the house dressing) and my bf got a cappuccino with a lemon poppy seed scone. Ever thing we ordered was delish and so fresh. The salad had the yummiest croutons I've ever had ( they tasted like thanksgiving!)! The pork sandwich was perfectly crafted with sweet and tangy bbq sauce, cheese and red onions. The frozen latte was so good too!
