    Chicken Katsu lunch special
    Garrett P.

I am a Luau Grill fanatic at this point, going multiple times a month. Everything on the menu I have tried has been absolutely delicious, and they keep their quality is consistently high all days of the week. Their fried shrimp and fish dishes have worked their way into my regular orders of kalbi beef and chicken katsu. Their sauces are so good, it's hard not to just drench the mac and rice. Pro tip: You can change the mac to rice ratio of your dish for no extra charge. I always go double mac and single rice. They're very quick with their takeout orders, always having mine ready when I swing by to pick it up. This is part of the reason why I frequent them as often as I do, they've become my high quality, quick and easy meal which fills me up and often leads to leftovers with their generous portions. The prices are affordable and there are lunch and small meal deals and specials regularly occurring and worth looking into. The restaurant is always super clean and their team is very friendly and welcoming.

Very friendly staff and waited till we were ready to bring out the shaved ice. The katsu was crunchy and flavorful! The shaved ice was wow, wow, wow! The perfect and refreshing cold dessert for the summer. The ability to choose three flavors and add some yummy toppings really ties it all in together. Will definitely be back!

Your standard fast food restaurant tucked away in a busy shopping center. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very attentive and friendly. I had a to go order. It was a mini meal. It was good no complaints. Standard Hawaiian food. It was okay.

We love this place. We decided to stop by to eat before we saw a school play. It's always clean and smells delicious right when you walk in. The food is amazing. My boys like to get the spam musubi and shrimp appetizers. I like to get the salmon plate with rice and veggies. There is always so much on the plate that I can share with my boys and everyone has enough. After we had dinner we decided to try the Hawaiian ice. It was perfectly sweet and was big enough to share. I think next time we will just get one. The staff are always friendly and I think the owner was there. She is sweet and I always try to let them know how great the food was. We try to come here often.

I would definitely come back. Hawaiian cuisine is very similar to Filipino BBQ or Filipino flavors so the food reminds me of comfort food. If you're not sure what to get here, you can try the combo plates that have the different meat options and everything is really good. Prices are really good too, it's not too pricey and you get a lot of food for the price. One plate literally feeds 2 or more people. Parking is a little bit crazy since there's a lot of establishments nearby. No matter what time you come it's super busy so if you're in a rush, this area may not be a good stop for you. Restaurant is clean. The place is fairly new, but you can tell it's clean because I saw employees constantly cleaning up. The place hasn't been too busy when I have visited, but it seems pretty constant with customers. That's always a plus since that tells you that the food is fresh.

This place is my go to spot for Chicken Katsu, it's always so crispy and tender. The one thing i wish was different was the katsu sauce, it's good but it seems pretty watery compared to other katsu sauces from other establishments. The spam musubi is one of my favorites although, it's very filling since they overload it with rice. i love their mac salad here and there's nothing like hawaiian mac. The service is quick and the workers are very nice! The area has an electronic kiosk and you can always order with someone at the front counter if you need to pay cash. The restaurant is constantly kept clean and they have self service sauce and utensil areas for whatever you need.

After running at Riverwalk Park, we were looking for new places to go to and happened to see this restaurant. I have always wanted to try loco moco and I am glad I got to try it here. I am not sure how it should taste like, I thought the gravy was a little bit salty but still finished the whole mini meal, which I think was not mini at all! Our food came with rice and macaroni. Their shrimps and sauces were good, too! I love that they have the kiosk where you can order so I can take my time and explore their menu fully. Judging our empty plates, I think that we will be back!

Was shopping and starving but decided before I went and got a cookie i would get lunch. Ordered the mini meal chicken katsu and I was surprised at the amount of chicken you get. They have a great condiment area. Sell Hawaiian drinks. Super clean. Staff that great you. Even though it is all concrete it is not super noisy. Definitely a great place to grab lunch when you are at Riverwalk.

Don't sleep on their shaved ice!! It reminded us of Hawaii's shaved ice--just as good but cheaper here lol. We customized it to include the flavors and toppings we wanted. The ice cream that it comes with is yummy.

This was my 1st visit and so far so good. I was greeted as I entered the building. There are 2 computers to put your orders in instead of the cashier. On this visit I didn't use the computers. Menu is different in store than on like DoorDash. They seem to be a bit higher. Store was really clean and not so loud. On this visit I ordered the Mini chicken Katsu and man was that packed. I wish it had veggies tho. I also ordered krab ragoons. There were good but needed some kind of sauce like sweet and sour and then it would have been perfect. Over all I liked the food and portions were really good size. I do want to try other meals but I love Katsu. They have a sauce bar which I like but the Katsu sauce was really cold I like mine just a tad bit warm but other than that this place rocked it.

Had to try the only other Hawaiian competitor in town! Had the bbq combo. For this you get a heaping amount of food. About 3 thighs, 2 thighs worth of katsu, and beef. Crazy amount of food. The rice and Mac scoops are also larger than typical! Had to wait a bit for my food so I know they make them fresh. I don't think they have the traffic just yet to cook portions ahead. While you do get 2 days worth, I must say the quality feels lacking most especially with the sauces. The teriyaki sauce is very salty and the Mac is quite bland for my tastes. If you prefer quantity then this is the Hawaiian place of choice!

Luau Grill in Bakersfield offers a delightful taste of the islands, and their Very Tasty Hawaiian BBQ plate is a prime example of why they're my new local favorite. Service was quick, and is a generously portioned meal and truly delivers the flavor and the portion size requirements for a meal above $20 yet this meal is sub $17. The combination of BBQ chicken, flavorful beef, and tender short ribs is a meat lover's dream, each cooked to perfection in some kind of Hawaiian BBQ marinade.(my guess) The meats are consistently juicy and packed in the container. This protein powerhouse about 38g with ample servings of fluffy white rice, steamed cabbage, and classic macaroni salad. It's a truly satisfying plate. Beyond the BBQ, a must-try is the rangoon. These crispy, golden parcels arrive piping hot, after being freshly prepared to order. The filling is a creamy, and the crispy wonton wrapper provides a satisfying crunch with every bite. The temperature of the crab rangoon is a small detail that often gets overlooked, but Luau Grill served them at their peak, enhancing my first overall experience. While this place is casual, the focus here is clearly on the food, and Luau Grill excels in delivering authentic, flavorful Hawaiian cuisine with generous portions. It's a reliable spot for a hearty and delicious meal in Bakersfield. Try this place just once before you head back to your favorite barbecue spot , you wont regret it

Had a wonderful lunch at the Luau Grill! Ordered the Moco Loco. My wife ordered the mini(no so mini) pork plate. I love Hawaiian style macaroni salad, and theirs was so tasty! The pork had a great pork flavor, not too much seasoning. The rice was nice and fluffy. The patty, egg and gravy for the Moco Loco tasted great together! They do have a self service area for sauces, which is nice to see. Seems like too many places are doing away with those. All around an excellent place to eat. Thank you Luau Grill!

Little hidden gems. Lighting is dark with bits color and neon popping through. The Bar Top curves around the bar- there are two booths that seat 5-6 and two short tables next to them- one seats 4- the other will comfortably seat two. There are a few bench style seating areas at the front with some short coffee tables. Think- skater tiki bar. The drinks were good- small menu if you're not sure what you want or are new to tiki. Both sides of the menu are the same menu. There are some nice mocktail options as well- you don't see that often. The service for me is mixed- it wasn't busy- steady but not busy- 1/4 full. I ordered two drinks to start for our table- (no cocktail servers here/not unusual for a small Tiki bar) I asked for a soda water- the bartender looked at me without a word- popped open a can of soda water and walked away. When he walked back by, I asked for a glass of ice- he said nothing and I got an eye-roll huff. I almost left. I don't think providing a glass with ice to pour your canned room temp soda water in, is too wacky an idea to be perturbed by the request. The female who took the order was friendly, smiled and was professional. We got a third cocktail- the Mai Tai. The grumpy bartender was friendlier this time. So, that helped. Maybe he felt overwhelmed and I threw off his groove by asking for water- then a glass... either way- being annoyed wasn't cool. The music.... Wasn't Tiki- it threw off the "Tiki Vibe" and made it feel typical small local bar that serves only Tiki drinks with some Tiki decor. It didn't take you to the land of Tiki- disappointed. Drinks were good.

Of course, I had to try their famous tri-tip sandwich and added a side of fries. The sandwich was loaded with tri-tip, tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce. The fries were a great addition and made the meal even more filling. I also ordered the Southwestern salad with chicken, and when I opened the container, I was honestly impressed by how much food they packed in there. It was huge, fresh, and loaded with chicken, avocado, black beans, corn, peppers, and plenty of toppings. Definitely not one of those salads that leaves you hungry afterward! I also have to give Firestone Grill credit for the sauces. They gave me two large containers of BBQ sauce AND two generous containers of dressing. As someone who hates when restaurants give you one tiny sauce for an entire meal, I appreciated that more than I probably should. No sauce rationing over here! I did takeout this time, but they offer self-seating and have a full bar, so next time I definitely want to dine in, grab a drink, and enjoy the full experience
