So fun. Just go. Here's the thing. You need to go ALLLLLL the way to the end of Pier 39. You go into the Players Sports bar or something. Then, you go paaaaast that bar. Then you are in this arcade. It's got a giant space invader which is...random. Like, bring the kids to the arcade that's past one bar and right before the other? Whch brings us to the other bar. So, you go past the arcade and then, THEN...you are at the Luau. I went on a Friday. They had a guy with a guitar doing great covers (excellent version of Walls Fall Down by Tom Petty). The drinks come in fun glasses, there's a great view of the water and we had a great time. It wasn't busy which...maybe not so great for the Luau, but it was perfect for hanging out with a bunch of friends. read more

Nope! Skip this place! I waited for 20 mins for a cup of cold stale coffee because I couldn't order just a glass of wine without a giant meal, and then they never reheated it or gave me a fresh cup when I asked. Horrible service and what we did order was less than worth the price. read more

Decided to take a walk down the Pier and found Luau Lounge with a decent outdoor setup so we decided that's where we would stop for lunch. We ordered Garlic Fries to start with some waters and a couple soft drinks. Soft drinks are canned and you have to ask for a cup with ice, no big deal. We ordered a steak, 2 bread bowls, a burger and kids chicken strips. Burgers bun had MOLD. Pointed it out to one of the waiters/food runners who said he did not think it was mold but would take it back and have it remade. Just a few minutes later the chef came to our table to apologize because "that might have actually been mold" Says he's rushing the order and will have a new burger sent to the table ASAP. The bread bowls were hard as a rock as if they had been sitting out for a day. Clam chowder was okay, nothing special tasted like your typical Progresso. Steak was ordered well done, came out medium/medium rare. Took 2 bites before deciding not to eat because the meat had a funny taste like it just started to turn but was cooked and served anyways. Kids chicken strips were served with tartar sauce..? Fiancé decided to try one since his steak was not good only to spit it out because it was chewy with a fishy taste. So by now we've wasted an hour and a half, we're still hungry and will still have to stop somewhere else to grab something for at least my 5 year old who was still hungry after eating nothing but fries since it was the only food that seemed safe. This place NEEDS a visit from a health inspector before someone really gets sick. I understand businesses are doing what they can to continue to operate through this pandemic however serving food that should have already been thrown out is absolutely not acceptable! read more

Bar/lounge tucked in the back of Players Restaurant and arcade on Pier 39. I really enjoy the ocean views at Luau Lounge and it's more intimate setting. The service is great. The food is the standard you would find at a tiki lounge. I ordered vegetable pot stickers and garlic fries. Food wasn't great but the drinks, service, and atmosphere will keep me coming back. read more

Got seated here despite attempting to eat at the half empty Players Arcade. Not sure what was up with that. What gives this place zero stars is being ignored for ten minutes while the sole server/bartender entertained himself and his friends by spinning plates instead of serving customers. What a cluster F. Just close if you don't want customers. Then you can spin all the plates you want in peace. read more

This place is really cool. It's at the end of Pier 39 downstairs through an arcade and at the very back of the pier. You can see straight out to Alcatraz and the windows open and giving you a great Breeze. I tried the pu pu platter which had 3 large pieces of boneless fried chicken, 2 pork tacos and ahi tuna over seaweed salad. Everything was just okay. There wasn't much flavor. There was a small little side of very watery ranch dressing. The Poke didn't have any soy sauce, and the tacos were pretty dry. It needed some more sauces for sure. read more

I recently visited Tonga Room and was extremely disappointed. I needed to find a tiki bar/lounge to make up for such a bad experience. Found Luau Lounge at Pier 39 and the experience was amazing. We had the best bartender who made the best drinks ever! Phillip is the man. When he says he makes good drinks, he is a man of his word. We had him keep it coming for as long as the kids' game cards lasted in the arcade. The lounge is tucked away in the back area of the arcade with stunning views of the bay. If you need a place to escape while the kids are at the arcade, Luau Lounge is the spot. read more

Came in for a drink yesterday and it was a cool spot. Been to the pier many times and just walked by, but we also weren't looking for drinks. Came in and ordered a pina colada with my wife and it was the best one ever! Ok, other than from Velvet Margarita in Hollywood. The bar keep was attentive and friendly. He kept busy and was also serving tables, which I thought was awesome. There's an arcade in the back with some pretty cool looking games, but we didn't play this time. This place is amazing. The location is to die for...right on the bay. You can see the bay bridge clearly. Love love love the bartenders Joel and Allie. They are so attentive and fun. Great selection of alcoholic beverages and great food. Great place to hang out any day and game nights are out of this world They do need to change their music selection and play more contemporary music. Best place on the pier to grab a Mai Tai. Well... it's a pretty good place to grab any drink or some good grub actually. Fantastic water view of Alcatraz and the bay. I've been here about 3 times total. The experience has been okay the past 2 times before last weekend when we went. We looked around for a place to enjoy a drink and food but every place we wanted to eat at had a long wait so we decided to come here since there were tables available. We stood at the front for about 5 minutes before the hostess came. I didn't catch her name but she was an Asian woman. There was 5 of us. She wanted to sit us in the corner where it was a table for 2 when there was a bigger table open. So we asked to sit at the bigger table and she said "that's a table for 8." With an attitude. When all the other parties only had a table of 5-6 people sitting at an 8 person table. So I'm not sure why that would be a problem. She said it would be 30 minutes before the table is ready but after 5 minutes someone had it ready so we went and sat down. She didn't come by to check on us or bring us menus. After 20 minutes of sitting to see if she would even pay attention to us, which she didn't. My friend for up to get menus for us and then a waitress finally says oh she didn't bring you menus. It took about another 15 mins to have someone come get our others and about another 30 minutes to get our food although we mainly ordered soup bowls and it wasn't busy. It was not a good experience at all. They messed up on one order and our soups weren't hot, more like just room temp. I will not be coming back to this place again. We were so disappointed and we only stayed because we were starving and every where else was too busy. read more

Came in to this place tucked away in the very end of Pier 39 for a drink and appetizers. We were amazed at the view of the bay and Alcatraz felt like we could touch it. The bartender was very nice and prompt giving us service and let us pick were we wanted to sit. After taking in the views of the boats zipping and sailing by, we went to the bar to order (we're chatty bar people). We order the vegetable pot sticker and chicken wings naked original recipe. The pot stickers were pretty good but the wings were by far superior. Would order the wings again and pass on the pot stickers and try the Kahlua pork tacos :) Mai Tai for the wife, excellent and beer for me. Hint..go through the arcade to the bar tiki bar area and not the front bar if you want the view!! read more

Came in to have an Irish coffee while on vacation and closed out my tab after one drink and paid with a credit card. I decided to stay a little longer and have a second drink and charged it again on the same card and they had to get a managers approval to allow me to charge it! Bartender Collin had an attitude and took my card. This is only for a second drink mind you!! Told him it was BS that he had to get a managers approval to charge for another drink! The service was below average to average waiter spilling waters as he came to table, also reached over my plate while eating to serve another at our table water. Food quality was fair, yes even clam chowder, dry crab roll, and steak entirely over cooked. I guess ask for rare steak. May taste good? View is great, but maybe get a drink. The food is very bland with no sauces. Also tourist should know on top of tip and 9% local tax, there is another surcharge for eating at restraint in San Fran ours was $4.35 additional. We added crab into chowder and got a bread bowl as well, we never asked. Added crab in chowder is $5 upcharge, and another $5 for bread bowl never ordered. Waiter not very English proficient. My husband wanted to go here to watch a Cubs game and he could care less what it is like as long as the beer is cold and the game is on. The location is great and the environment is fun but the food was below average in my opinion. The service was a little slow and they were not very crowded. This lounge is such a hidden gem... Go through the actual Players Sports Grill into the game room and then passed it there is Luau Lounge tucked in the corner with beautiful views and a Hawaiian decor. When we came, the place was pretty busy: about 10-15 patrons in the bar, two 10+ large-group tables and a few two-tops. The bartender was all by herself, so I'm assuming someone called in sick (or perhaps they have less than perfect scheduling practices). I have no idea how she managed to get to everyone promptly yet at the same time made us feel tended to like she is not even in a rush... seriously - in the past I worked in restaurants for 10 years and I have no idea how she was doing that... We came to see her again the next day, but she was off... however, we at least got her name out of our second visit - Allie. Overall - fine drinks, good views and at least one awesome bartender. :-) read more

This is for the Tiki Bar at the back of the Players Bar and Grill on Pier 39. Service was amazing, views of the Bay Bridge and Alcatraz were incredible. They have a pretty good beer on tap selection, and the bartender, Shayn, made great cocktails as well. Definitely recommend it for the view and the service - just go to the Players Bar and find your way to the very back. Seriously though, it's in the very back of the place, through a full arcade, and its worth finding your way back there. read more

My family and I found this place on Monday afternoon after we took a boat tour of the bay. The views were amazing and our bartender Ally made us great drinks and was fun to chat with. The kids played in the arcade while we sat and relaxed. Didn't get to eat but will definitely be back. read more
