After Thanksgiving & have been to 4 free Turkey luncheons. I was so thrilled to go to LUBYS today, Saturday. I heard it was "crazy busy" on The Holiday but yet Today it was Calm, Cool, Collected, Clean, Friendly & DElicious ! I really LVE this LUBYS. The manager on duty was serving the salads. He was especially polite. My 2 friends asked alot of questions, I was embarrassed but he was glad to answer them. They are very paticular so to make them both happy, he said all the right true things. The cashier Mary R, very efficient & funny. Mary said she had been there 5 Yrs. I think for service/restaurant work that long is good is a sign of good MGMT Also our attendant was excellent, Esmi, was great, quick & funny. We had a great Delicious lunch. Stuffed after turkey ? Come here for Chicken Fried Steak, lumpy (good) potatoes, cream gravy, PIE, Sweet tea, cabbage, cucumber vinegrette salad, shhhh (but don't tell anyone that I know.) I have only eaten breakfast in the morning on weekends here. They serve the basic minimal on the weekend. Eggs, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits, potatoes, a mexican style hash, bacon, sausage, toast. I have been here a few times for breakfast but it is really a hit or miss for decent food. The first time i was there about 930am and the food was fresh and hot and very tasty. The second time I was there about 9am and the food was half and half on fresh and tasty side. I could easily taste and tell it was left overs being served that was nuked in a microwave, but thought it would do. The third time was just horrible. Got there at 945am and all the food was cold, old tasting, no flavor, undercooked and improperly nuked in the microwave. It was just really really bad. So, in short, it is a hit or miss for breakfast that I will pass on it and go elsewhere. read more

Loved the food, the atmosphere music. Dining room attendant turned me off, barely smiled, made me feel like I was bothering her. I overlooked that because the food was delicious! Cherry Pie was so good! (at home, the next day) . New to this area of Houston I am glad that I live this close to Luby's. I will return but only when I am hungry. read more

Great service, terrific food, good value. I hadn't been to a Luby's since about 1995. I was checking out the menu board at the front of the line and the guy behind the counter asked what I'd like. When I told him I wasn't sure and was just sorting it out, he walked me through the options and set me up. Big portion of Chicken fried chicken (excellent), dirty rice (so good), roasted potatoes (surprisingly good) and on his recommendation, a yeast roll (solid). $10.99. Went today for the first time in a year. I surprised how much fresh food was on the line. Reminded my wife and I of Luby's long ago. The food was hot and fresh. The pinto beans were excellent. It was so good we got a to go order for my father-in-law. Chicken fried steak. He loved it. Our table waitress took our to order and handled it very well. We will be back. Never again. No silverware. Lady in front waited 11 minutes for someone at the salad bar. No one came. Wanted fried fish and cabbage. There wasn't any. Was given a number. No fresh bread. No adult sized cups and no ice. I had my niece with me and she wanted it, that's the only reason I stayed. Paid for the meal. Sat down. Got up after ten minutes to get my fried fish and cabbage. Still no ice. Managed to get the fish from the guy working the line. Gave up on the cabbage. Still no ice. All the workers kept saying is, "Tell Pedro." Finally, a Black older gentleman puts ice in the machine. Very disappointed. Never. Never. Never again. read more

On my last visit here I went through the drive thru to order my lunch. I was super sad when I got to work only to find out that they had given me all my sides but missed my main entree. I called Luby's and spoke with the manager and they said if I came back they'd give me a full meal and apologized. After work I drove over there and I was pleasantly surprised at how even though they had only missed my main entree, the manager packed me a full meal and even gave me desert. What should have been a bad review turned into a good review because I really appreciate their excellent customer service skills. Very, very helpful and nice employees. They're sweeter than the sweet tea. I loved the little cashier who chatted me up about her Labor Day plans, all while working quickly to ring me up. Even the rough looking customers, with decorated teeth, were very gentlemanly and courteous. I guess that's what some good fried square fish will do to you. read more

Food is good but somebody needs to tell ALL of their servers to keep their HANDS OFF and out of my food! Yuck. Unsanitary. You often touch patron's hands when handing them their food. Then you put your hands in my food to push it on the plate. Horrible. Happens at most of the Luby's locations so I wonder if that's how they are trained. I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit to this Luby's yesterday. The shopping center in which it is located is a bit run down, so I have avoided it, but it's truly a gem in the area. This was probably the cleanest, best looking Luby's I've ever been to. The food looked so yummy and so fresh and hot. I got the fish almondine with cheesy cauliflower and fried okra with a side of cornbread. It was all super good, especially the fish with the side of tartar sauce. I didn't love the okra because there wasn't a crunch to it like I like. There was plenty of staff and they were all attentive as I walked in the door with curiosity. read more

Ate here on Sunday night because we wanted something quick, fairly nourishing and moderately priced and didn't feel like dressing up. We occasionally eat at a different Luby's closer to our house, but, we were already close to this one. The food was typical Luby's quality and selection, the serving staff were very nice , but the one man asked me three times what I wanted, then tried to give me a "to go" box after he had asked me each time if it was for here. Pay attention people! The check out lady really had an attitude and was hanging all over the counters and huffing and puffing about something totally unrelated to us. I realize it was close to closing (an hour) but we were not the last people to come in. They do not seem to have a separate line or check out for to go orders and I think that throws everyone off. When I wanted to get some change to leave a tip on the table for the waitress, I couldn't get it because the cashier had already started to ring up a to go order which wasn't put together right. She can not start another order while one is still open. Then after waiting about ten minutes for that to go on, she tells me she can't open her register without me buying something. I had already bought my meal with a debit card. Isn't there a manager or someone with any authority to over ride these rules and handle situations when they arise? I'm not sure if it was just the time or day we went, but, I don't think we'll be back to this location. read more

Typical Luby's...standard american fare....the reason i wanted to be sure to give a review of this place was due to the service. We've been to the Luby's twice, both were on a Sunday afternoon. They need to do something with the 2 girls working the dining area. There is an older woman that works the dining area as well but she is great. The 2 younger girls are a problem. They're HORRIBLE! they play all day and then expect a tip, HAAAA!! you're already actually not waiting tables nor do you even have to take food to tables then you want a tip for doing nothing?? they spend time talking to each other, laughing at some of the customers, and on their phones. For example, last time we were there my wife and i were trying to get their attention for some more water. they were too busy playing and talking to notice and we were never tended to. This is ridiculous. The first time we were there another customer told another worker about the girls playing and how they look like disinterested in doing any work. If this Luby's management sees this, you know who i'm referring to....yall probably wanna get this fixed read more

We love this Luby's! The staff is like a second family and always greet us with smiles and are ready to take care of us every time. The food is fresh and the atmosphere is the typical wonderful Luby's I remember from childhood. I've visited most of the Luby's around Houston Texas but this one is the worst by far. We call it Low-Tech Luby's because their Wifi never works. Never. Not one time. If you go to their web site and attempt to look at their menu, well again it never works properly. I assume because the clientele is mostly minority so they feel they don't use the internet or check the menu for daily specials. Of course they are WRONG. They never have a complete menu. Most Luby's will have chicken pot pie on Mondays or Tuesdays. Not here, they are never consistent about anything. I attempted to buy some gift cards for my brothers birthday and when I asked a few employees about it, they all looked confused and nervous like I just asked for the country's nuclear detonating codes. Low Tech Luby's only hires loud mouth sistas and mumble mouthed immigrants with limited English skills. Hey, it's your store. Don't eat here if they won't respect you. read more
