This is the first time I've felt the need to write a yelp review. I go to this location a lot because it's closest to my house, but "Alma" who works the drive-thru is terrible. There is always something wrong with my order when she's working. Either she gives me the wrong thing, forgets to give me something and I don't realize until I get home, gives me cheese after telling her I don't want any (it goes to waste), or she gives me a large drink when I ask for a small (I've been told they're the same price but I want what I specifically ordered). I will not be going to this location anymore because I'm just fed up at this point. And I don't want this to cost her her job, but she needs to be told to do her job a little better. read more

Ordered something at the drive thru today and found a curly hair in my maccaroni and cheese. Was already in my mouth when I found it. Disgusted! Not the first time I've had issues with the cleanliness at a Luby's location. Thought I would give them one last chance but this is it. I loved Luby's growing up but, sadly it seems everything has significantly declined over the years. The food & service are simply not what they use to be. Worst service I've ever had here. Our usual wait person wasn't here today. One guy that has worked here quite a while (and never gives good service) took Mom's tray to a table but never came back. A new guy brought out her tilapia when it was ready ..... but never came back to see if we needed anything. I had to get our sauces, refill our drinks, and get our carryout boxes. No tip today! I usually give at least 20% to the lady that waits on us if she's here. She brings everything we need up front, keeps refills coming, and has the carryout boxes ready when she sees we're through. I would give zero stars for service but the food was very good. read more

Don't know why I keep coming here, it gets worse every visit and it makes me sad. I keep wishing for the Luby's that I grew up with, where the food was hot and fresh and the ice tea lady always made sure your glass was never empty. I used to love the fish here at Luby's, but the service alone doesn't want you to go back. The staff is very rude and rushes you. If you don't know what you want, you'll get attitude or spoken to very rudely. The prices have gotten outrageous. Who pays almost $30 for 2 people at Luby's? I have to agree with Luis R. My last trip to Luby's on Mason Rd in Katy AND Luby's on Westheimer in West Hou, will be my last. With a working mom I too, was raised on Luby's menu, so I will miss the quality of food Luby's was ONCE famous for. The current prices are outrageous. I have even skipped the tea, which is the only constant good thing and I never get dessert...my bill is still too high for a lunch cafeteria. The cornbread consistently tastes like it was made last week. The yellow squash/zucchine was swimming in red grease. The liver and onions are still 'almost' worth ordering as a single entree/takeout. I had there Tampico chicken it was awesome. The gravy for the mash potatoes was excellent. The price a little pricy. Well worth it.

I've probably eaten at various Luby's over 500 times in my life going back to the days when it was Romanos. In the last few years Luby's has gone from a great family value with great food at a good price to an over-priced hit or miss place. Some items are very good and consistent, but so many have gone downhill over the years. Luby's is simply not the place it used to be. The prices are ridiculous and the portions keep getting smaller and smaller on everything. This location in particular has always had some of the rudest and least attentive people of any Luby's that I've ever been to. We used to bring our family of 10 here for weekend dinner several times a month. Everyone finally had to admit that it sucked and wasn't worth it any more. For years they had the rudest cashier in the history of the world. Never once in over 5 years did she ever say thank you. Just really odd that someone like that would have that job. Skip Luby's, no matter how much you used to love it. Especially this one. My mom loves the one on Post Oak in comparison. Apparently they care there, make good food and try to be friendly to their customers. read more

The quality of food is poor and food temperature as well. The price can quickly add up which is abut upsetting in my opinion. Not impressed with their Thanksgiving Day food. Using preformed turkey slices that taste better from Hormel or HEB, no cranberry sauce, gravy and feeling ripped off from asking for s side of dressing and only receiving no more than normally comes with the turkey, does not bode well for this location. I ordered through take-out. The cashier was also told not to sell sides, only. However, people were ordering only sides and getting them from another cashier. This will be my last meal purchased at this location. I hated when the one in City Center shut down. One person ahead of me who just ordered gravy was still waiting and complaining as I was leaving. read more

The last two times i have been to Lubys i have used the drive Thur. BOTH times they have been out of fried chicken. Normally they open each order and show you whats inside to make sure the order is correct. Last night they did not seemed to busy. I pulled up checked my orders and i did not notice until i got home that they did not put in the two jellos. The person taking my order seemed to have a attitude. Over the past 10 years Lubys service and quality has declined. Will be spending my money somewhere else in the future. read more

Went in to pickup the Thanksgiving dinner order I had placed online. Well they did not have my order ready as promised and had no record of the order being placed. I show the man waiting on me my email confirmation. He took someone's else's order that was similar to mine and made a couple of changes and I was on my way. Now I have had the Luby's dinner before and was satisfied however this the food had no flavor at all...quite disappointed and will never makes this mistake again. I don't get it I have eaten at this Lubys probably 5 times in the past 2 months. I never read the reviews because a lubys is a lubys is a lubys But I have found this one to be a pretty good one. The service has always been excellent and the waitstaff very attentive....almost too attentive. The food is always tasty, the portions huge and the prices reasonable. It's just good comfort food. It's always clean. I eat out ALOT. Every day I'm working I eat at least one meal out. When I want some home cooking and not fast food I come here. I'll keep coming back. read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I stead of going through drive through, I chose to walk in to place an order. There were no cars in the drive thru at the time. Once I was inside the pickup or side the attendant instructed me the only way I would be served would be to go through the drive thru. I asked her could I placed an order and she told me no to come through drive thru! She was rude and refused to take my order. I always visit this location but that has now changed. We go here on Saturday's because kids eat free. So this Saturday we went as usually to get the deal, but unfortunately they charged us for the kids meals because we have it to go. Now the kicker is that we always get it to go and all of a sudden we getting charged. When there is no where on their website does it say dine in only. Went in at 7:30 PM last Wednesday and had some issues the next day. My two year old took an extra day to clear up, but his twin sister faired much, much worse. It is now Sunday and her diarrhea has still not cleared up. Thank god no fever, but her movements have been producing uniformly pale-yellow and very soft stools-like lemon-colored cheez whiz. And the smell- jeezuz! I should have known better as Luby's seems to be in its death-throes and has been on artificial respiration provided by the denture wearing demographic, and it is about as vibrant as its majority patronage. To be fair there are some that are fine, but this one should be passed. These is a black eyed pea, a Denny's, an IHOP, and a few more upscale family places that are relatively close, so do yourself and your kids a favor and drive on. read more

Went to the Mason Road Luby's location in Katy Texas tonight and had a bad experience yet again. Tonight when I was going through the line when the server was putting the Broccoli on my plate another server who was working the to-go orders literally took the tongs from her and took it off my plate and put it in a to-go container then came through when she was getting me another one to replace it and took that one from her for another container, WTF. Then after I got pass this idiot I was greeted by our hostess who asked me if I wanted any A1 and when she went to go get it she went over to the to-go station and started helping pack orders so yet again WTF? I went and got it myself and after a quarter of the way into my meal she came back by talking to herself about having to quit forgetting things. My wife's food was cold (how does this happen) and my food was dried out. I am not expecting a five star meal but fast food comes out better than this with half the aggravation. My other bad experience at this location was near the end of last year when my wife had a coil of stainless shaving in her food and when we asked for the manager just to make him aware of a possible issue he had an attitude with us just short of accusing us of putting the shaving in the food to get a free meal and stating they do not use stainless cookware in the kitchen. I am 54 years old and make plenty of money and have no need for a free meal thank you but would like to get good service! I have had other issues with this location and feel that Luby's may be a thing of the past like most restaurants that have lost the art of good food and polite service other than working to get to your wallet. read more

The family and I have been coming to this location for at least 20 years. This establishment is clean and well run. The food never disappoints me. The Tilapia is always well prepared and like most of the meals at Luby's costs less than $15.00 when paired with two vegetables and /or sides and a soft white or wheat roll. Like the food, the desserts are well prepared and fresh as food turnover is rather quick at most Luby's locations due to brisk foot traffic. read more

Half the time we order take-out. Most of the time they do not have the entree my wife orders. This location could learn a lot from the Luby's on Westheimer/ Kirkwood. There are too many veggies that are canned. Personally, I feel this Luby's needs a New Manager. It's getting a bad reputation! read more

I agree with most of the negative reviews. I used to love going to Luby's with my family but now I find it too expensive these days. The ice tea price is outrageous as well. Also, I don't like the way you are forced to pay while you wait in a long line with a tray of food which is getting colder by the minute. By the time you get to your table and sit down, the food is definitely cold. They should utilize the waitstaff and have them handle your bill. read more
