Update for the Thanksgiving pick up experience. Spoiler, we were very pleased. They open at 11 am but on Thanksgiving, plan to get there earlier to get in line or you may need to wait a while. We got there at 10:30 am and there were already at least 100 people waiting in the drive thru and walk up line combined. Everyone in line had big smiles on their faces, probably because they knew they were not going to need to do dishes later. We were in the drive thru, about 10-12 cars from the window and once the line started moving at 11am, we waited about another 30 minutes to get our food. We listened to our favorite podcast and had hot chocolate while we waited. Everyone, from the front to back house workers, were working incredibly hard to deliver everyone's comfort food. Luby's usually runs like a well oiled machine, but they really shined on this holiday. Note that some options may be limited or you may need to pay more for items not in the holiday menu. Everything on our plates was delicious and perfectly portioned with desserts that were the sweet cherry on top.

1st Time Here on Palm Sunday and probably my last time. I wanted to sit down and have a meal served to me for a change of pace. I had the Ribeye Special and I was expecting something worthwhile but I was disappointed. So I sat down with the rest of my side dishes, waiting for my steak to get cooked & brought out to me*? Which took forever, so I started munching on my sides.... I has mashed potatoes and gravy with sweet corn. Plus a plain old bun. It was already getting cold while I was waiting to eat my steak with it altogether. Which most restaurant's serve in this fashion, but not here*? Cafeteria style dining is okay, like in the Military or back in School, but not like this & now? I'm not a fan of this type of service. Perhaps, because I had to wait for my steak to be cooked or something. In any case, small portions and a thin steak with mostly grizzle & grease on it....plus I had to wait for a steak knife to eat this too? $19.99 Ribeye Special was like $30 buck when I added a soda drink & slice a keylime pie‍ Needless to say, I wasn't very impressed with this whole experience & lackluster food. I mean it was bad, but it sure didn't make my mouth water or savor the moment neither. ‍ Sorry, but I'm a straight shooter when it comes to explaining & my tastes and likes or dislikes. So far in Texas, I haven't really been knocked out or impressed when it comes to my tastebuds & particular anticipations. This is just a regular deal and nothing special.

My favorite Lubys has to be this location on Huebner! Employees are always so welcoming as we walk in and in the ordering line as well as the servers. Food portions are always big and everything is delicious. My favorite would be the fried fish, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes with a white roll. When the turkey and stuffing is available that's a must as well. I love how this Lubys decorates for different holidays, tables are always clean, always lots of seating room and it's just a cozy atmosphere.

It's been a while since I've been to Luby's. They closed the one I usually went to at Las Palmas. I've visited this one on and off over the years when I was in the area. Right now it is a nightmare to get in and out of. Floyd Curl road is torn up and you must go in via another parking lot and ditto out of it. If I had not deliberately driven to this one I wouldn't have stopped at it. But I was in the mood for Luby's. Just plain cooked food. I had hoped for roast beef but I don't think they have that anymore. But I'll never pass up their chicken fried steak. Now for my mystery....I always, for 30 plus years, get a LuAnn plate. But my tummy was rumbling so decided to get the full sized. Maybe she misunderstood me but I thought the steak looked smaller like the LuAnn not the slightly larger one next to it. Whatever...I was only charged for the LuAnn with military discount. Now a cafeteria is hard for me since I have trouble standing and the couple in front of me had trouble deciding what to order so I was in pain as I went down the line. They had a great variety of veggies, which I love, and a nice selection of meats. The salads looked very tempting. I got a double portion of sweet potatoes for my veggies and a piece of cake for dessert. I was a little afraid that the cake might be carrot which I don't care for. It was but a pale version of that which is why I was not sure. I added cornbread which was a little dry. The chicken fried steak was as wonderful as memory said. Indeed all was good but the slightly dry cornbread. It was still tasty. So wish the one closer to me was still open. I go to the Fredericksburg rd one occasionally. One great thing is that they always have someone come to carry my tray. They are always very nice and welcoming and make you feel wanted there. Both military and senior discounts are available. It's not fancy food nor rich sauces but great plain cooking.

Baked Almondine Combo top of fish was over salted

Poor service and food was overly salty. Didn't treat my senior mother right she sat by herself and yet wasn't noticed or waited on, yet others that were alone were waited on. Sad way to treat someone who paid good money to be ignored just for tips. Need improvement.

I must confess - I haven't eaten at Luby's for quite a while, but back in the day...their food was my jam! Heart and fresh, hot and flavorful, lots of choices and won't break the bank. This year my clinic got their Thanksgiving plates and these things were SAD! Rolls so we're hard and stale that they must've been leftovers from last year's Thanksgiving. Green beans came right out of a can with no flavor, mashed potatoes were also bland, dressing - no flavor...just cold soggy bread crumbs, gravy was thin, and tasteless. The turkey was super dry and no flavor either. The ham tasted the best of out the whole plate, but way too salty. Canned cranberries was just canned cranberries...what can I say. This plate went right into trash with my hopes and dreams today.

My favorite. All comfort food. Yum.

If you are in a rush and in the medical center, this place is very affordable and fast. No staffing issues here. Who does not like fried fish, and comfort food like mash potatoes and Mac & cheese! I had the full size fried fish. Which was crispy and just like I remembered. As well as the mash potatoes and Mac & cheese, still wet, creamy & tasty! Nothing has changed. The fast service leaves a lot of time for you to catch up with your lunch mates.

Phenomenal drive thru service at this medical center location off Floyd Curl Drive. My order was perfectly packed and portions were large! I appreciated that the drive thru staff didn't just pack wet stuff with dry stuff because that can be a soggy mess. Our food was prepared quickly, service was super friendly and the food was hot, fresh and tasty per usual. I love Luby's and this is hands down my favorite location in San Antonio.

I ordered jello & got "THREE" cubes of jello with no whip cream. They say they put the whip cream on other desserts. CHEAP

Stuffed had great reviews on Yelp and it said it wasn't normally busy at this time, so we decided to check it out. When we got there, we were greeted by the staff and they have a nice size menu from breakfast burritos to lunch options, and we chose the fish tacos, the Philly cheese egg rolls, the bean and cheese platter and the meat lovers burrito, and because it was Father's Day, my husband was able to add extra meat, a drink and chips for an additional $5 . After waiting for maybe 7 minutes, our food was delivered to our table and the portion sizes are huge. Definitely make the dollar amount worth it. We all loved our food and because we ate it there, it was all hot and fresh. The only improvement that I would give, is that they add some type of salsa or dip that can go with the chips that they have. I used my husband's sauce from his Philly cheese egg rolls, and it definitely elevated the chips. The portions were so large, that my kid and husband both had to get to go containers, and my husband ate the burrito a day later, and he said it was amazing. We will definitely come back when we are in San Antonio. And if you have not checked it out, I would highly recommend this, hidden gem!

The Morning Wrecker is basically all of my favorite breakfast foods stacked into one massive sandwich. A perfectly cooked chicken fried steak, crispy hashbrowns, and two over easy eggs sandwiched between a fluffy cat head sized biscuit before being smothered in savory sausage gravy and topped with shredded cheddar cheese. It's definitely a gluttonous meal, but I split it with my buddy and it was absolutely worth the calories and carbs. Every bite delivered exactly what I was hoping for. It's worth stopping by Bobbie's Southern Kitchen for the Morning Wrecker alone, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. The service was great and it has that bustling diner feel.

My husband and I had been trying to eat at Bobby's Southern Kitchen for at least 2-3 years. Every time we'd stopped before, the wait was around 2 1/2 hours, and since we were always passing through on our way home to Houston, we never had enough time to stay. This time, we planned our morning around finally getting to eat here. We had spent the weekend in San Antonio and were driving to Dallas before heading home, so we made a point of arriving shortly after opening (a little after 8:00 a.m.). There was no wait, we were seated immediately, and our waitress was wonderful. I wish I could remember her name because she was friendly, attentive, and did everything she could. Our food came out quickly, probably within 15 minutes, but that's where things went downhill. The food wasn't hot. Mine was warm enough to eat, but my husband's breakfast was actually cold. His hash browns were cold, his sausage patties were cold, and since he's someone who really enjoys his food served hot, it immediately ruined the meal for him. We let our waitress know, and she came back to take only the hash browns from his plate. That surprised us because most restaurants would prepare a fresh order rather than reheating part of the original meal. When the hash browns came back, they still weren't hot enough, so unfortunately they didn't solve the problem. For me, the food itself actually had good flavor. I ordered the sausage biscuit with soft scrambled eggs, sausage patties, and a side of grits. The biscuit was good, the eggs were cooked just the way I like them, and the grits were honestly one of the best parts of the meal. They were creamy, had a great consistency, and were well-seasoned with really good flavor. If everything had been served hotter, I honestly think I would have loved my breakfast. My husband ordered a simple breakfast with eggs over medium, toast, sausage patties, and hash browns. I don't necessarily think the food itself was bad I think serving it cold completely changed his experience. What makes this especially disappointing is that we arrived shortly after opening, so we expected everything to be fresh and piping hot. I honestly don't know what happened that morning, but after waiting years to finally try Bobby's, it just didn't live up to the anticipation. The service was excellent, the food had good flavor, and I truly wanted to love this place. I just can't overlook being served a breakfast that wasn't hot, especially first thing in the morning. I hope this was just an off day because I'd like to believe our experience wasn't the norm.

We started with the beet and dill salmon on crostini, which was such a fun and memorable dish. Piling everything on yourself made it interactive, almost playful, and you could make each bite as beautiful as you wanted. The flavors were bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. We ordered all of the entrées--choucroute, hanger steak, and sweet pea risotto--and every single one was delicious. That said, the risotto completely stole the show for me. Creamy and rich without being heavy, it was packed with mushrooms, sweet peas, and delicate pea shoots. The salty, umami depth from the cheese paired beautifully with little bursts of sweetness from the peas--it was honestly exceptional. Outlaw Kitchen is the kind of place where everything works together: the food, the service, and the space. It feels intentional, personal, and special without ever being pretentious. The patio is lovely, but I imagine it can be uncomfortable in the summer heat. Now for the food. Overall it was good. I found some components spectacular, but felt like some lacked seasoning. I was looking forward to the arancini the most. The croquet itself was crunchy and that cheese was definitely telefono style, but needed some seasoning. The pomodoro was tasty, but the basil made it fabulous. Y'all know how I feel about basil. The ravioli was filled with spinach, mushroom, and ricotta with a brown butter sage sauce. It was delicious and the portion was perfect. My favorite part though was the crunchy shitaki "bacon"and butternut squash. I would take a bowl of that in a heartbeat and would absolutely go back for a butternut squash main dish. It was perfectly roasted and full of flavor and those shitaki were amazing. The preserved lemon vinaigrette over lettuces was phenomenal. Incredible fresh flavor. Desert was chocolate torte and sour cream ice cream. The ice cream was the absolute star of the show. The sweet vanilla was incredible. I sampled the halibut and shrimp and it was perfectly cooked. I would definitely come back to try other offerings.
