I don't think I need to add another review of the Churros from Lucero Bakery. They are outstanding, perfectly crunchy, not overly sweet, and just enough cinnamon. I ordered 20 of them and it only took about 10 minutes. They provide fast and friendly service, and offer a variety of baked goods. But I really only came for the Churros. Sorry no photos with this review. You'll just have to go there and try them out for yourselves. read more

My go-to bakery for birthday cakes. They match the inspo pictures for each cake perfectly! I recommend them to everyone and guests at our parties always tell us how great the cakes taste (on top of the cakes looking so cute). They reply to emails fairly quick and have great service overall. read more

Came on to order a 3 leches cakes for my daughter's birthday. We brought in a picture of the cake when placing our order. The cake was made exactly as my daughter requested and it was delicious! Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was due to the wait when placing the cake order. We waited over 1.5hours just to place the order. The lady taking orders was busy handling phone calls and in person orders. Owners should have someone help her with handling phone calls. Other than that. I recommend cakes from Luceros! read more

I've been coming here for years and the tres leches cake and the churro relleno de cajeta are my favorite! They've gotten busier due to popularity and I wish they had more organization when it is busy, but overall the expansion and renovations look good on this place. Definitely recommend! read more

This place is excellent. Churros are amazing when fresh and warm and are still good later in the day. We called ahead by an hour for an order of 50 churros, and everything was warm and ready by the time we arrived. We paid by phone and pick up was super fast/easy. Bought churros for a party and they were a hit. FYI there's parking on-site as well, a few spots up front and a lot in the back. read more

This bakery used to be located in a small storefront manned by a few people. Fortunately, the business has done well and grown to a stand alone where they have a variety of delicious treats and drinks. But for me it's all about the churros! The churros here are like the ones at the border with great crunch, balanced sweetness, and a pretty good portion. Thank you Lucero. read more

More than just churros! This was my first time ordering a custom cake and I'm blown away by the results. They worked well with my broken Spanish and had people there who spoke English to help out with anything that they didn't understand. I literally went in there with just the concept of wanting a Selena cake, after looking through ideas on my phone I found my favorite and they said they could do it. I gotta admit that I was nervous not knowing exactly how it would turn out but it was literally perfect, every detail was exactly how I was expecting. I got it in tres leches, as someone who has had plenty of Porto's this blows them out of the water. Everyone was asking me where I got the cake and saying it was way better than Porto's. So in the end, not only did I get a cake that looked amazing, but it was beyond delicious. The price was not bad at all compared to what I was expecting. Pickup was very easy, they wheeled it to my car and it was secured in a big box. I had to also order churros though, get the 50 pack and your guests will be very thankful. We just got the plain but it looks like they have all kinds of flavors. Will for sure be using them again when I'm getting another cake or just want to stop by for a quick dessert. read more

This place is a like finding a unicorn!!! There isn't any other place I can think of that sells Churros. Did I mention they have churros!!! The staff are super friendly and really helpful. Their service is really quick since their menu is really simple. Churros, churros, and more churros. I definitely recommend this place if you're having a gathering and don't know what to bring. Terrible service. I placed an order over the phone and went in to pick it up but they said they never received the order and told me to go to the other bakery down the street so I drove there but it was closed. I called the number where I placed the order and no one answered. So I drove back to this bakery to check again and then the cashier had remembered after I came back that there was a phone order. So they just sent me in a whole circle for no reason due to them not paying attention. Then they charge me twice $48. I left the store because I was running late to a funeral that I was taking these items to and had noticed they charged me 2x's so I called back. I spoke to the supervisor at 12pm on 11/22 and asked to refund me my money. They stated they'd call me back but never got a call back and I called back but I keep getting the run around and have yet to get my money back that they robbed me for. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THEY ARE CHARGING YOU!!! read more

The bakery is so popular that there are often long lines out the door, but with only two cashiers, the wait can be frustrating. Adding more cashiers would make a big difference in improving customer experience. Oh man they went from 5 stars to 1 star! Well of the 4 plaine churros they were all hard on the outside and raw on the inside. I am old enough to know raw and cooked or soft set. They were the worst churros I ever had but then they were cheap.....I got what I paid for. I know most people will eat anything and since they paid for it they will eat it. I will take one bite then trash it if it is not up to par cheap or not.....most times it goes back. Then there are times that can't happen so in the rubber maid. I really wanted to like this place I was excited. The one saving grace was the tres leches cake was good. read more

I purchased a Nuñez Tres Leches cake, but the cake was extremely dry and hard, as if it had been sitting there for several days. A tres leches cake is supposed to be moist and soft, but this cake was the complete opposite. No one at the party ate it because of how dry it was. The next morning, June 13, 2026, at approximately 11:40 AM, I called the bakery and spoke with an employee. He seemed rude and uninterested in helping resolve the issue. He told me to bring the cake back, which I had no problem doing. I arrived at the bakery around 12:00 PM, only to find the business completely closed with the blinds down and the doors locked. What makes this even more frustrating is that the employee knew I was on my way, yet failed to mention they were closing. In addition, the business hours listed online state that the bakery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:00 AM to 7:00 PM, which was clearly not accurate. I will be returning on Monday to request a refund and return the cake, since the bakery is closed on Sundays. I am very disappointed with both the quality of the cake and the customer service I received. Customers who purchase a tres leches cake expect it to be fresh, moist, and soft--not dry, hard, and inedible. I hope this issue can be resolved appropriately. Thank you.

The texture was gummy and it lacked the flavor and moisture I was expecting from a tres leches. Maybe they just had an off day, because the reviews are mostly positive, but unfortunately, our experience with the cake was disappointing and definitely would not buy a cake from here again.

The bolio with cream cheese and jalapeño is really, I have also tried the bolio with frijoles and queso. The frijoles were very tasty and had chile de árbol. The cheese was more to one corner of the bread and it was gooey. I didn't like the cheese in this one. I will try other flavors though, I'm making this one of my panaderías now.

If you're looking for great Mexican bread and pastries, this is definitely the place. However, on Mother's Day (May 10th), I decided to try their menudo for the first time and purchased 3 orders. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The menudo was extremely bland and seemed to be missing basic seasoning like salt and oregano. Normally, bland food can be fixed at home with a few spices, but the bigger issue was the large amount of grasa (grease/fat) in the caldo. The grease was very dense and excessive. I tried removing as much as possible, but there was still too much. In fact, I had to serve my mother the menudo without the broth because of how greasy it was. My recommendation: stick to the bread -- it's great. As for the menudo, maybe this was just a one-off experience, so others may want to give it a try for themselves. I personally hope they improve the recipe because it's difficult finding a good Sunday morning menudo spot in the Downey area.
