Brunch was fantastic. I had the blackened chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It was huge! The shrimp and grits were flavorful and a very healthy portion. This restaurant is a white table cloth joint in disguise. Except they do have white table cloths! Not fancy but has some pretty fancy food. Any grouper dish they serve is true grouper. Oh my... this is my new favorite!!! Walked in on a Tuesday looking for a nice meal with a friend after hearing great things about Lucilla. Well, they knocked it out of the park! The food was incredible. Everything we ordered was delicious, served at the right temperature and plated beautifully. The service was excellent. Our sever was knowledgeable and timed our meal perfectly. We started with the pimento cheese balls and fried oysters. Yum! For our entrees we finally decided on the spring vegetable vol-at-vent and the seared Scottish salmon. The portions were perfect and delicious! I just found out about Lucilla this week while browsing Yelp. The menu looked great and the positive reviews convinced us to check it out. We were not disappointed! We started out with the oysters and pimento cheese fritters. Both were very delicious. There were six in our party and we all ordered something different. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees, but I'll specifically discuss the Snapper St. Charles. It was amazing. The fish was obviously very fresh and perfectly cooked. The whipped potatoes were awesome and the sweet potato ribbons were a nice touch. I honestly think this is the best meal I've ever had in Tallahassee. There are some similar popular restaurants in Tallahassee that I've been to that don't hold a candle to Lucilla. In my opinion, the whole experience couldn't really be improved upon. The food was amazing and the service was attentive, friendly and un-obtrusive. This might very well end up being our go-to for date nights! read more

I treated my son to dinner at Lucilla's for his birthday, and we were both very pleased. We had appetizers - fried pimento cheese for me and crab cakes for him. Both were very good. He had the vinegar chicken and I had the smoked shrimp on greens with noodles for an entree. Both were delicious. I was not as pleased with my dessert - a butterscotch dish that was not butterscotchy enough for my liking. He made short work of his stuffed brownie. I would have had the rack of lamb for my entree, but the price of $38 was somewhat off-putting. We probably will return to sample other offerings. read more

Everything about this hidden gem was superb. I researched and thought I'd give it a try on a recent business trip. My gps led me down a side road to a former Pizza Hut building that was packed with cars. That was my first clue. I had a 30 minute wait on a Wednesday night at 7 pm. Worth it! I ordered the pimento cheese fritters for an appetizer. Holy cheese balls. The combination of perfectly fried pimento cheese and the two sauces, a sweet bourbon peach sauce under each ball and a mustardy one in the center meant I took one half bite per ball so I could get two dips of sauce. My pleasant server brought out a crusty house-made bread (they let the restaurant know every time a loaf comes hot out of the oven)and butter that I finally made her take off the table because it was so damn good I was going to eat the whole basket myself. My entree was the only place there was a slight misstep. I ordered Green Hill Chicken which came with mashed potatoes and green beans cooked perfectly and a well-seasoned creole mustard sauce. The breading on the chicken was over salted to the point it was a bit unpleasant. I was able to scrape it off so I could enjoy the bites with just the sauce. Finally, I received the dessert menu. I'm not much for key lime pie. I live in Fl so it's a dime a dozen. But when I asked my server which dessert was her favorite she convinced me to get the key lime brûlée. It was a heavenly mix of sugary confection with just a tart enough key lime base and topped with Chantilly cream that I couldn't stop saying to no one in particular, "Oh my God this is so good." I loved the surprise of such an upscale meal in such an unlikely location where I could look right in the kitchen and see the chef/owner and his team working. I simply can't wait to go back and sample more from his creative culinary menu. read more

The best brunch experience of my life! Joe Richardson is one of my favorite chefs anyway, so him having the reins at this new venture was a no-brainer for me,and boy, were we not disappointed! Being in the "biz" myself, I am one for detail, and the place setting on the table was stunning in its' elegant simplicity. Therefore, the stage was set! Our very competent table hostess started us out with, not probably, but definitely, the coolest idea for brunch ever! A MIMOSA BAR!! What it is: a bottle of Cava with and assortment of juices, infused syrups, and fresh fruit to create your own unique combinations. I could wax forever about just that but I have to get to the oysters. It doesn't make any logical sense how something could be this good; from how perfectly they were fried, how appealing to the eye, how seamlessly the three sauces played with each other, to how the micro greens lent flavor, texture and eye appeal, this dish is a resounding success! Next, we had the crab cake Benedict (perfect!) served on the most tender biscuit ever for me and the only collard greens I didn't even THINK of putting vinegar on because all of the flavor was already there! ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!! No hubby this time- the girls and I had a brunch date today at this new spot and boy did we find a gem! We started off with a couple Acai bowls and brûlée grape fruits to share. Both were spectacular, I didn't even know you could brûlée a grapefruit-what a treat!! For my main dish I got the crab cake Benedict and I must say it was by far the BEST egg Benedict meal I have ever eaten! Also to share, we got the mimosa bar for $38. With the deal you get a bottle of sparkling wine with orange juice, cranberry juice, pineapple juice and two different types of fruit syrups(I can't remember exactly what they were!!) as well as a plate of assorted berries and fruits. It was perfect for the 4 of us to share! I cannot emphasize enough how spectacular the food and drinks were. The atmosphere itself and the table settings were also very charming. My suggestions to make this place even more romantic and upscale (and nothing here detracts from the 5 star review) would be white tablecloths, hostess wearing all black and wait staff wearing crisp white shirts and black pants. We had the tomato bisque which comes accompanied by 1/2 of a perfect grilled cheese sandwich, the snapper St Charles, cavatappi bolignese and salted butterscotch pot the creme. Visited Lucilla for lunch and was extremely impressed with the food and service. I enjoyed the portobello steak frites and it was an incredible dish and a bargain at lunch prices. The food presentation is great, quality is amazing and I can't wait to return to try more dishes. My ONLY feedback, it that the dining area feels to sparse, something it missing that could make this a very nice, quaint place to dine. Maybe rugs, maybe plants, just seems to need something to fill that big open space and reflect the high quality of food. Stopped in on a Thursday night looking for something to eat. Says it is Spanish cuisine, and I had my heart set on Paella, but it is not a menu item. We started off with some wine - I went for their Navarro Cab, 5 stars, while my wife went for the Milbrandt Reisling, she gave it 4 stars. So far, so good. We ordered the pimento fritters for an app - these brought the rating down. We gave them a 2. Insides were cold, flavor just wasn't there. For entrees, my wife went their Pot Pie, she gave that 4 stars. This isn't like your typical pot pie in the sense of a full crust top and bottom; presented well, tasted very good with lots of vegetables in a good sauce. I went for a Southern classic - shrimp and grits. This also had a different twist on it. The Bradley coarse grits were excellent (as always) but there was also whole corn kernels. Instead of sauteed shrimp, they had a VERY crunchy coating. Different approach but I liked, a solid 4+ stars. I DO wish they had more actual Spanish cuisine items on the menu. I will have to miss their summer wine/dine series featuring tapas paired with wines; perhaps they will add a few items to their menu. read more

I order meals delivered, a lot, too much. It is pretty hard to get really good meals, even from decent restaurants, just because, well... delivery. Getting your meals delivered, by anybody, anywhere, isn't going to result in the same quality of food you can get in a restaurant, so this isn't meant as a dig at the delivery service. The restaurants know they won't have to deal with unhappy customers in person, so.... I usually try to find healthy meals and not a lot of restaurants on the list for deliveries just aren't. Sorry for the long prologue. I wanted to give a clue about readers just how good the food is. I ordered the scottish salmon on june 15, 2018. It came with asparagus, quinoa, a little spring mix, and heirloom tomatoes. And WOW was it good. Everything was perfectly prepared. Even the presentation was nice given it had to be in a box, (props to Bite Squad for keeping it level). The portion was just right for me, unlike some places seeming to think people would like more mediocre food.. Lucilla will be getting lots of my business in the future, lots, and lots and lots read more

We've been reading the reviews for several months and finally got a chance to give it a try and we were not disappointed! We opted to try several small plates because everything sounded so good which was a good decision. We started with the tomato bisque and grilled cheese which had a nice fresh flavor to the tomato bisque while the grilled cheese consisted of two different types of cheese and Dijon mustard. Next up was the Caprese salad made with a nice creamy burrata. Third on the list came the Crab cakes which had a good amount of crab and was served with an aioli that had just a small amount of kick. The last small plate was the smoked duck breast served with a pear and pecan salad. We finished up with espresso and the white chocolate pumpkin bread pudding which was to die for!! If you haven't given this place a try yet we highly recommend it!! read more
