Service:
Raina was great! Very knowledgeable. Made great wine recommendations for our drinking guests. Very attentive without hovering. Raina and one of the hostesses kept wine/champagne and water glasses full all night. Some of the best service I've received in Tallahassee.
Meal:
Our group of 6 ordered the Pimento Cheese Fritters, Crispy Calamari, Crab Cakes, and the Fried Oysters as appetizers for sharing. The hands down favorites were the fritters and oysters. I LOVED the calamari, but it needed more of the wonderful sauce to compliment the beautifully fried calamari. It's reminiscent of the MASA style calamari, if you're familiar with that Tallahassee restaurant. The crab cakes were good, I really liked the play on succotash, the pickled green tomatoes were divine. I had a Caesar Salad before my entrée. It left a lot to be desired. The romaine was unevenly cut and had very large pieces of lettuce still attached to the rib. Very very lightly dressed with a good not great Caesar dressing. Croutons were very good and I really liked the addition of fried capers. Some room for improvement here. For dinner I ordered the Herbed Salmon, homerun. The crispy fingerling potatoes and garlic spinach were simple incredibly. The tomato lemon broth velouté was terrific and the dish overall was perfectly seasoned and balanced. My wife had the Shrimp and Grits, WOW were we impressed. The shrimp are fried crispy as opposed to sautéed making for a great counter-texture to the Coarse Ground Creamy Bradley's Country Store Grits. The Country Gravy with bell peppers, roasted corn, and Bradley's Sausage was inspired. My wife nor I have ever seen anything like this(she is a shrimp-n-grits connoisseur). The dish is served with four massive, perfectly fried Gulf shrimp and a mound of creamy cheesy grits cooked to a satisfying al dente. Our table-mates ordered the NY Strip, Andouille Stuffed Chicken Breast, and the Snapper St. Charles. All were outstanding and were served with very complimentary sides from the sautéed broccoli rabe with the strip to the sweet potato ribbons on the snapper and the bacon braised collard greens with the chicken. For dessert the group split the Stuffed Brownie and the Salted Butterscotch Pots-de-Creme. The pots-de-creme was my absolute favorite. The texture was firmer than a custard but so smooth and rich. Magnificent butterscotch flavor very comforting, not too sweet. The fresh whipped cream helps cut through some of the richness and helps lighten the dense creme.
