Cheeseburger
Danielle S.

Came here about 10pm, and they only allowed to go orders because they close at 10:45pm. The wait for our food wasn't long, maybe 10 mins from the time we ordered. We ordered a basic cheeseburger, pastrami burger and a small chili cheese fries. The fries were slight soggy by the time we arrived at our hotel, about 10 mins away. The chili was good and the burgers are good and messy. It's definitely a good place to go for a neighborhood burger joint. Their burgers are filling especially the pastrami burger, tons of pastrami.

Got the breakfast burrito and added a pancake to it (secret menu item) This thing was delicious. They give you so much food when you order you will definitely get two meals out of it. Classic breakfast diner vibes 63+ years of perfection wrapped in one epic breakfast burrito.

This is my go to spot for a good breakfast burrito or any burrito for that matter. They also have phenomenal burgers. I don't think I have ordered anything that I didn't like.

So, the history is what brought me to Lucky Boy. The prices are why I won't be back. I was blown away that a pastrami cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings was an eye watering $24.09. Like...pardon me? This was a first visit and it will be my last. Kind of explains why the place was a ghost town inside. How disappointing.

Lucky Boy is a Pasadena classic! The burritos are huge and super satisfying -- definitely get the special breakfast burrito, it's the best one . The service is always quick and friendly, and the staff are great. I haven't tried anything else yet, but the burgers always look amazing. Some people call these LA's best breakfast burritos -- I'm not sure if I'd go that far, but they're definitely very good. The walnut location has that classic diner vibe, with plenty of parking, which is a huge plus. A true Pasadena staple that's absolutely worth checking out!

Fried zucchini

An essential Pasadena spot. The price and quantity of quality food can't be beat! It's a very casual dine-in or take-out spot within walking distance of Old Town. While the fried zucchini seemed initially pricey, the serving size was plentiful for 2 (and made for great leftovers in the air fryer!!). Definitely going to get my burger cravings taken care of here!

I love coming to this location it's very retro. You order from outside. They're very fast with the preparation of your order and I feel like the cooks and workers have a great relationship. You always hear them talking and laughing in the back it just feels so warm and comforting to walk into like they're family.

Great food fast service huge menu. Best zucchini fries around. Only thing I don't recommend is the tuna melt as the tuna salad comes cold.

Love when the hash browns are crispy in there mmmm! I will say their salsa is more of a hit or miss, sometimes it's flavorful n spicy which I love then sometimes it lacks heat & doesn't give much of a taste! So wish it was more consistent! When I come for lunch I'm a sucker for a good cheeseburger, yellow chilis & onion rings! Mmm it's yummy! I've heard these breakfast burritos are the go to if you want a breakfast burrito and that…read morestatement couldn't be more right. This is a burger joint with a diverse menu, including one of the biggest breakfast burritos in town. I got my burrito with bacon. The burrito comes with hashbrown style potatoes, eggs and cheese - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage for your meat (or have it without meat). The bacon was crispy and remained crispy when I reheated my other half. Not only is the bacon crispy, the burrito has a generous amount of it! Oh and the other plus - the tortilla does not come wet and soggy and remains in perfect condition if you have leftovers. The burrito comes with only one salsa and to be honest, you really do need two for such a big burrito. I'm a green salsa girl but I asked what I should go with and I was recommended the red one (the green one is supposedly spicier). The red salsa did not disappoint other than I needed one more for my whole burrito (there's no kick to this salsa but it's tasty). The burrito itself isn't bursting with flavor on its own and it requires the salsa to compliment the other ingredients. But, who eats a breakfast burrito without salsa? There is ample parking in their parking lot and there's seating both inside and outside. I will definitely be returning to satisfy my breakfast burrito craving very soon and if this is what you're looking for - stop reading reviews and go get you one at Lucky Boy (it's served all day).

I always start off my ratings with cleanliness. I worked in a high volume restaurant back in the 70's. If you weren't doing something you were cleaning. Ordered the classic burger, fries and coke. Picked up my order after a short wait. Cleaned off my own table and sat down. Burger looked decent, fries looked amazing and can never say anything bad about a classic coke. First bite of the burger was a little disappointing. Burger was thin and seemed overcooked to me. I thought it was dry. Roll, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo were ok. Not bad overall but for some reason I expected a better burger experience. Let's talk about the fries. Truly classic French fried potatoes. Perfectly cooked. Light golden color. Nice texture and flavor. What every French fry should look and taste like. Coke was great. Sorry to say I was not impressed by the burger. This was my experience on 05/09/2026. Could have been cleaner and maybe the burger not overcooked. Your experience may be totally different.

I thought I already reviewed the best burger in Pasadena!…read more On my first visit, a standard burger was $3.95. I forget what it is now-- $6??? As good as this burger is, it's still a deal. Super Burger is owned by a super-nice Korean family. There are various Korean dishes in their menu available but I only go there for the burgers. What makes their simple burgers so great? First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. These aren't the frozen discs delivered by a freezer truck. The ratio of the ingredients are ideal. -- The tomato is sliced to the perfect thickness -- The freshly-shredded lettuce doesn't manspread and take up too much of the burger's real estate -- The thousand island dressing marries the freshness of the veggie section to the animal part perfectly -- The burger patty's girth is appropriately balanced for the other ingredients. -- Their buns have that old-school yeast(?) flavor not available in stores. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business. Street parking is available. Even though super burger is basically a corner burger stand with patio seating, the place is always clean. Super Burger is definitely a sure thing. It is the finest example of what a basic, standard burger can be. Bun, burger patty, lettuce, tomato, and dressing doesn't get better than this.

Everything! Love it…read more Yummy food.. Nice people. I grew up in padadena lots of great food places.

05/14/2026 A truly…read moreiconic Pasadena landmark! My history with Connal's goes back over 50 years. As a kid my Mom would take us there often for a Grinder and Soft Serve Cone. It was always a real treat. As a teenager I dated a couple of the girls that worked there so I was there on the regular in those days. In my 20's I lived right up the street and hit them up quite often. I don't get there as much as I'd like nowadays but when I do, it is always consistently great. Times have definitely changed but Connal's quality food and super customer service has not! I am a huge Combination Grinder fan and have not ordered anything different for well over 30 years. They are always stacked with lots of high quality cold cuts and delicious Provolone, crisp shredded Lettuce, thin sliced Onions and Vinegar and Oil on a delicious French Roll. In my teens and 20's I did try many samplings on their vast menu and as memory serves, everything was always delicious. Today's Grinder absolutely hit the spot! It had been a while since I last tasted one but the Combo Grinder most definitely never disappoints. I went for it, and got Zings (Zucchini Sticks and Onion Rings). Super hot, crisp and very tasty, especially with some Bleu Cheese Dressing. Jesse took my order and he was very personable and showed me some excellent customer service. If you are looking for some great grub, you cannot lose with Sandwiches By Connal. It is not the original owners but they have kept the same quality and standards over the years.

Once upon a time, we lived dangerously close to this establishment, and I've honestly thought about it more often than I'd like to admit ever since. So when I found myself in Pasadena a few weeks ago, you better believe I was coming back. I ordered my usual: an unbelievable burger, fries, and a Coke--of course. But the crown jewel of the meal, as it has always been, is the fried zucchini. I have never found better fried zucchini, and trust me, I've been trying for years. Service at the window was just as friendly as I remembered, and we grabbed a spot tucked under the patio instead of staying inside--perfect for people-watching as folks came and went. There's something really special about being welcomed back by a place that tastes exactly like you remember. Connal's still delivers.
