    Cheeseburger combi
    Dan W.

Somewhere in the grapevine area on my trip from Sacramento, I was craving either a Chinese food lunch special...or burger. The mapquest led me to a Chinese restaurant in this shopping center, but the big lettering of "Burgers" caught my attention. Starting off, this is a SOLID 3...a 3+, if you will. I miss regular mom and pop shops serving basic food, as opposed to Sacramento which for some reason tries to cook above its station in its bougie-ness. The gentleman was friendly, took my order, and they got my sods for me. I ordered the ordinary Cheeseburger combo. The burger would not grace a magazine cover, but it tasted....like a tasty cheeseburger should. Good meat, and I could taste the gooey melty cheese. The fries were burning hot, and the potato was soft on the inside. Though probably not entirely their fault (thanks, inflation), my only knock is $17 seems a bit much. I only visit So Cal twice a year at most, and want to try a bevy of other restaurants, but if friends ever wanted to stop here, I'd be happy with another cheeseburger combo

outrageously small portion for the price

prices are outrageous. ordered a chili cheese fries which was $12 and was expecting a pretty generous portion. instead we got something less than half that size. they literally gave me a handful of fries. maybe the size of a large fries at mcdonalds. there were so little fries i could easily count the # of fries! stay away from this place, super greedy.

    Breakfast Burrito and spicy salsa

My boyfriend and I walked over to finally try Dena's! After seeing consistent crowds around the ordering window, I knew this would be a must-try gem. You are able to order outside from the window or dine-in inside or on the patio. There are lots of pothos plants if you make it indoors. We both got breakfast burritos. I got the bacon and ham with spicy salsa and he got the combination with hot sauce. The portion size for the price (and quality) was worth it! The spicy salsa had a gradual kick but definitely made my burrito. Can't wait to come back and try some more of the menu!

Casual fast food restaurant that has a pretty extensive menu. From burgers, sandwiches to burritos and salad, there are lots to choose from. Order was ready in about 10 min. Food was decent.

Always feel welcomed when I come here. I had the chicken taquitos plate today, and an iced coffee that was delicious. We came in (4 of us) before the lunch rush which was good my order was ready in less than 10 minutes. This is not only a fast food restaurant they actually prep some dishes at the moment as well.

Cheese fries ( i think it ) only had monterey cheese , they were out of the mixed one they usually use. But it was still good

Hi, went again tonight , haven't been in months. Wanted to try pastrami melt on sourdough and cheese fries. But he did say he was out of cheddar cheese. So could only use monterey jack on the fries. But on the pastrami i wasn't sure what kind of cheese they use or if we choose. I think he said he has cheddar. I don't know, honestly i get confused with different cheeses ( unless i see it ) in front of me in the package , lol. But both were good , only thing is the pastrami melt was not grilled as much as it could of been , and one reason is , he hardly buttered it. So next time i will be sure , to mention i like them buttered and grilled /melted good !!! :)

Overall an OK burger experience. I drive by everyday and wanted to try it out. Just got a plain cheeseburger. Food came out quick. It is exactly what you would expect from a small mom and pop hamburger shop. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing exceptional or exciting about it. Very standard. Pretty decent and satisfied. Pasadena just has too many good restaurants within 5mins that it would be hard to come here instead of all the other choices out there.

I'm so glad we did because we had a wonderful time. Right off the bat, however, I want to point out that this is a cash only establishment. Yes, they do have an ATM inside, but if you want to avoid what I'm assuming is a crazy service fee, bring plenty of cash with you because this place isn't the cheapest meal in town. It's not expensive, but it's not cheap. Also, there is very limited parking so just be ready to park on the street a bit away and walking in. The location itself is small. Narrow and deep. They squeeze in as many tables as they can around the walls while having a long countertop that runs the length of the kitchen. But, with all that said, and with them trying to cram in as many people as possible, it didn't feel too cramped. Only time we really felt the high density was when one of my kids needed to use the restroom and we had to find somewhere to stand and wait for it to become available. Outside of the front of the restaurant, there really is no space to just stand around. The food itself is wonderful. The burgers are no nonsense. They're not trying to be anything other than just a classic diner burger and fries. And that's exactly what I want from a place like this. Nothing is made for Instagram or to chase a trend. This place knows what they're good at because they've been doing it for decades and they don't stray from that. It's a total 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality here and it's better off for it. My son got the chili and demolished it. I was worried he wouldn't like it, but it was anything but the case. I haven't seen him eat chili that fast in a long time. The dessert was good, but probably my least favorite part of the whole meal. I think I just wanted something different than what I ordered. I got the peach crumble and, while tasty, it just didn't scratch the pie itch I wanted. It was the perfect blend of soft and crispy. The crumble was good, but I think I wanted more of it. I'm being picky here, but I think it just slightly missed the mark. I really enjoyed my brunch at Pie N Burger. It was a wonderful outing. From the friendly staff to the classic food. It was just nice. And I absolutely look forward to coming back. Again and again.

The…read morerecipes and the preparation techniques are still part of the perfection of Pie 'N Burger tradition. Who would have thought that a sandwich from 1924 would continue to be a classic landmark throughout Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, and the US? When I lived overseas it was one of the few places that everybody knew the name of and what it was known for... it has become a part of an American tradition. When I walked into the quaint location, just off of Lake Avenue on California Boulevard, I felt like I was brought back to another era. Brianna was working the counter area and asked what I'd like to eat. I asked for some suggestions; I wanted a variety of different things that would give me a sense of what they could do as an old-style diner. She was quick to talk about the original Pie 'N Burger cheeseburger. I let her know that I wanted the deluxe edition. It's called the Big Ben. It's a double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato pickles, onions, and bacon. This sounded perfect. I also wanted fries and onion rings. Chicken tenders were next on my list as people had talked about how good they were with their homemade dipping sauces. The Apple Pie was the sweet conclusion of my takeout order. I enjoyed the ambiance as my food was being prepared. There was a great smell and sound coming from the kitchen that indicated that everything being made as customers waited. After a short time my food was ready. I was asked if there was anything else that I wanted to add to my order, and was handed the bill. It is well known that cash is the only accepted payment. And they do have an ATM available. When I got home and unpacked my order, everything was still hot. I wasn't sure what to start with first! I decided to try each item as I unpacked it just to get a sense of the flavor. French fries were great - long fries with a crisp exterior and great for dipping. I decided to dip in the blue cheese rather than using the traditional ketchup. Good choice, their blue cheese and other sauces are homemade. You can taste the difference. Onion rings were also crisp exterior surrounding the onion. Also great for dipping! Chicken tenders were fried with a lightly fried exterior and moist and tender. This is a great appetizer to share. The Big Ben Burger lived up to its reputation. Large, flavorful, and a great eating experience. The American cheese with the lettuce tomato pickle and bacon was a great mix. The flavor of the meat was prevalent. To say that it was a mouthful would be an understatement! The dessert was the piece de resistance and worth waiting for...Apple Pie. The crust embraced the flavor of the filling. Flavorful apples with a little bite. Definitely homemade and full of fond memories. Like a really good apple pie should be. The best part about this experience is that I now look forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu. The Patty Melt, French toast, chili cheese fries, and boysenberry pie are all on my list to try with my next visits. Great experience, great food, friendly service!

I thought I already reviewed the best burger in Pasadena!…read more On my first visit, a standard burger was $3.95. I forget what it is now-- $6??? As good as this burger is, it's still a deal. Super Burger is owned by a super-nice Korean family. There are various Korean dishes in their menu available but I only go there for the burgers. What makes their simple burgers so great? First off the burger patty-- the patties are formed in-house. The cooked patties have that irregular edge that can only come from being hand-formed; imperfect and delicious. These aren't the frozen discs delivered by a freezer truck. The ratio of the ingredients are ideal. -- The tomato is sliced to the perfect thickness -- The freshly-shredded lettuce doesn't manspread and take up too much of the burger's real estate -- The thousand island dressing marries the freshness of the veggie section to the animal part perfectly -- The burger patty's girth is appropriately balanced for the other ingredients. -- Their buns have that old-school yeast(?) flavor not available in stores. Their burgers are lovingly prepared and assembled with care. This is why whenever I go, there are always people there. Seating is strictly patio style, looking out onto the intersection of Altadena and Villa. There lot is small lot next to the stand. I'm not sure if it's shared with another business. Street parking is available. Even though super burger is basically a corner burger stand with patio seating, the place is always clean. Super Burger is definitely a sure thing.
