My favorite is the breakfast they give you a good amount and it's always fresh, fast, and amazing. The skillets are the best.

We've lived in the neighborhood for over 4 years and just learned of this place. It's easy to miss; it's not located in a very exciting strip mall. Then again, what strip mall is exciting these days! Anyway, we waited for almost 15 mintues before our waitress even took our order. Then another 25 minutes or so for our food. Felt WAY too long. It was a Sunday, and I think we may have hit the 'after church crowd', but still good service is expected. The prices and food were good; nothing to write home about though. Portions are huge. I got THREE breakfasts out of my omlette and hash browns order. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is REALLY good and is only $2.50! I plan on returning, and hope for better service. read more

I hadn't been here in years and honestly couldn't remember my initial opinion of it when I went this past weekend. I wasn't impressed- hopefully I remember that next time I'm making breakfast plans. Service: Our waitress had a serious attitude. She was pissed off the entire time and didn't smile once. Not once. After she gave us the check we didn't see her again. The busboys seemed nice, but not nice enough to make up for the nasty waitress. Food: Omelets are pretty bland and the "hashed browns" have almost no flavor whatsoever. I wanted to ask our waitress to have them made crispy like I normally do, but honestly didn't want to talk to her any more than I had to. It just wasn't worth it. I also didn't have my hot water for tea refilled once. Parking: They do have a lot, but it's small so don't be surprised if you get stuck on the street. I was lucky and caught someone just leaving, but because I was with my 80 year old grandmother part of why this place was picked was the parking lot. You're informed. The only perks to this breakfast was the fantastic company (for which LG can take no credit for!) and that they offer a waffle as an option instead of toast of pancakes. I love this place more than I initially thought. Lucky Grill deserves the full five stars! I've been back here quite a few times now, and I just love the food here. You can get classic diner favorites, like omelets, melts and soup. I particularly like their Chicken Breast Melt, which is just like a patty melt but with a chicken breast. It's got American cheese, onions, melty goodness. Delish! They also have a variety of great hamburgers. I also think the service is great. The waitresses are always super friendly and attentive, and the food comes out pretty quickly. Highly recommend! read more

Came to this place after a wild night out. I was pretty much starving from all the liquor I had the night before. When we got here we got seated right away. Their orange juice was amazing but their food was just okay. I ordered fried eggs (over hard), french toast and hash browns. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the food but the servers were pretty hot! I guess that kinda made up for the so so food. If you want to grab a quick breakfast this place is ideal. They have a tiny waffle on the menu. One side looks like a normal waffle, and the other side has a pocket that looks like it should be cradling a sausage. I was smitten as soon as I saw it. Other than that, it's your standard diner affair. But it's worth a visit--especially if you're in the neighborhood--for the tiny waffle. read more

This place is a shadow of its former self. We used to dine here with regularity but over the last few years the service has declined badly and now the food has followed. In the last two years I've been in four times and I have had 1) my order given to another table, then had to wait as they re-cooked my food (with no apology or even mention of the issue) 2) the incorrect order brought to my table and then I get an attitude from the server when I point this out 3) to wait for 15 minutes before a server decided she should deign to visit our table and take our order 4) the burger I ordered medium-rare brought out singed to a crisp. I normally tip 20-25% but each of the last several times I've been there I've left a dollar or less, trying to send a message. They don't seem to be getting it. I used to order the Irish breakfast with regularity but they have managed to screw it up each time I have done so the last few years. That's sad because I miss the good fry I used to be able to get there. Honestly, I've had enough. This used to be a great spot for breakfast or lunch but now I wouldn't send my worst enemy there for a meal. The previous owners knew how to run a place but the guys who've been in charge for the last five years just don't. It's so sad because good neighborhood places are getting harder to find. I've only been here twice, both times for breakfast, and both times I've gotten the Irish breakfast. Two big rashers of bacon, two pieces of toast, two eggs, two Irish sausages, two pieces each of black and white pudding both on top of a mound of hash browns. Man, is it a breakfast! The bacon is delicious, thick cut, not crispy but not a floppy mess either. Great white pudding, black pudding isn't really my thing, next time I'll try subbing it for extra white. Eggs were eggs, hash browns were hash browns. I'm not exactly sure what the difference between an Irish sausage and a regular breakfast link is. Seemed a little longer. Slightly different casing, a little softer maybe? Regardless, they're good. Everything needed a little salt, pepper, hot sauce, or chef sauce, but it was all provided so no biggy! Last time we were there my girlfriend got the French toast, which they ask if you want thick or thin. She got the thick toast, said it was good. Service was exceptionally quick the more recent time we went. The time we went prior it was packed, so it being slow then I can let slide. Coffee cup doesn't stay empty for long, and the food comes surprisingly quick. Since I'm only a little over a mile from this place, I'm sure I'll be back. We had an awful experience at Lucky Grill last weekend. My 13 year old son has Type 1 diabetes which requires insulin before eating any food with carbs. About 40 minutes after ordering, our food had still not arrived. I asked the server if she could at least bring out my son's toast. I explained the situation to the server that my son's blood sugar was dropping rapidly and he needed some carbs. About 5 minutes later she had still not brought out the toast. My husband asked another server, who had overheard the conversation about my son, and asked him if he could get the toast. The man replied "it's coming". My husband told him again about the situation and asked if he could at least just grab some bread or orange juice. The server replied "This isn't McDonald's". I was literally stunned that anyone in the service industry could be so cruel, uncaring, and rude. We weren't complaining that the food was taking forever (restaurant was not crowded) we were simply asking to bring bread, toast or oj to help stabilize our son's blood sugar. I had to get up myself to get my son o.j. I was heartbroken for my son that he witnessed someone who was so ignorant, rude and frankly a complete asshole about his medical condition. We left the restaurant immediately after that and I will never return. read more

I work nearby and we have ordered from here through grub hub three or four times within the last 3 weeks. The first time we ordered here we were more than satisfied. The portions were generous and they got our order down to a tee, even threw in a bottle of tobasco. The last time we ordered they messed up our order. When we got there they not only not know where our order was and had to re make it and we had to wait, but they also messed it up. I called them and they told me the menu isn't correct online. I don't understand why they wouldn't correct it then? They said it's just too much information. Not happy about this. read more

Came here Sunday morning to have breakfast with the wife. She ordered the omelette with pancakes, and I had the corned beef hash skillet. Both were mediocre at best. Pancakes were a little dry, omelette was okay, and my skillet felt like it was lacking something. Service here was good though, attentive and courteous. Overall, good service, edible food, okay prices. I might give this place another chance since we're in the neighborhood...maybe they had an off day! read more

Well, I'm only basing this on one delivery order via GrubHub and I'm giving them a LOT of benefit of the doubt, since apparently they're new to delivery/GrubHub, but OH. MY. WORD. I ordered cheeseburger meals and a combo app for my son and I today, for lunch. Ordered before 11, food was supposed to be here at 11:30. At 11:50, I'm starting to get concerned. This is the edge of my "acceptable" window of error - there's snow on the ground, okay it might take a little longer to get here. I'm told then by GrubHub - 10 more minutes. Well, 20 minutes later - phone call. Delivery guy is outside the WRONG ADDRESS. One block south, so it's not even the same street number, wrong street. Finally arrives - 45 minutes late - delivery guy pretty much throws the food at me and runs - food is lukewarm at best. Now, once it was reheated, it was pretty good and there was lots there - my meal included burger, onion rings and soup, plus rolls. GrubHub made things good for me with two $10 gift cards and Lucky Grill is also supposed to be sending a $5 gift certificate, although if the manager contacts me the way he/she is supposed to, I might push them on that. For me to visit the restaurant and use the GC, I have to take the bus and walk, so for $5 off? Meh. Especially since the other reviews here are sort of spotty... Step up your game, Lucky Grill. Your food was tasty and your prices are reasonable, but your delivery is TERRIBLE. Work on it. read more

I have been coming to Lucky Grill since I can remember. I've grown to love almost everything on the menu, especially their breakfast. They give nice sized portions and their wait staff is friendly and personable. The restaurant is usually packed with locals on Sunday morning because of the nearby church services letting out. So if you don't want to wait just a little bit longer, I suggest not going Sunday morning. Favorites: Go on Sunday afternoon so you can get their Cream of Chicken Rice. Freshly squeezed orange juice is so worth the $2.50 Breakfast anytime of the day, with guaranteed leftovers. The first time I went there the servings were large, the service was friendly and the price was fair. Recently, we sat outdoors for a 10 am breakfast on Saturday. Servings were still large and pretty good. It took an half hour to be offered coffee, and 1.5 from when we sat down for breakfast until we received our bill. This place is excellent. Ordered delivery and was told it'd be about an hour. Got it in 25 minutes. Can never complain about that. Then got to the food. I was hankering for a reuben sandwich, and the reuben deluxe with soup of the day and onion rings meal called to me. Reuben was tasty, not over salted and had the right amount of sauerkraut and swiss. It wasn't overpowering and didn't leave me with over-salted dry mouth the way some meals can. We were greeted with a warm friendly greeting of "Oh do you want something to go". It didn't help that the cook pointed out to the waitress that we walked in. Love the food! I've only seen two servers however, one is excellent! And the other one is the pokiest slowest, like molasses in January, server. It's excruciating when she is your waitress. By the time she gets to you you're already aggravated to give your order and your food is so much later than everyone else that has sat in the "other" servers section. It's almost like she's drugged. I've been here a few times. Usually on the weekends it's really busy and its about a 5 minutes or so wait. They're options to sit at the counter on the barstool. I usually get a dark hair waitress who is pleasant but this time i went on the weekday and got a different waitress. She was non very enthusiastic and very monotone. I ordered the country fried steak, hash brown, mini waffles, and side of link sausages. I love that the restaurant has chulula hot sauce. Country fried steak was just ok. We really did want to try someplace new for breakfast, so armed with some referrals we hit Lucky Grill a few weeks ago. The result? Meh. It started out badly when one of the busboys took exception to our choice of tables. Instead of just saying, "Why don't you take this other one?" he actually argued with me about whether it was a table or a booth. (It was both, and the two tables could easily have been separated for two different groups but he insisted that we take the table for six instead.) I was intrigued by the Irish/English menu items and had the Irish breakfast, something I'd missed since The Atlantic closed. Well, I'm still missing it. The sausages were decent but the black and white puddings were only fair, and the rest was unmemorable. My companions said that the corned beef hash was sub-par, and everything else was only so-so. The waitress was very sweet and helpful, so that was a plus, but overall, I'd say that we won't be going back. read more

I've been coming here for 15 years, it changed ownership and now the busboy is the owner and seemingly does not know how to run a restaurant. We arrive during the transition between breakfast and lunch and the place was relatively busy people that got sat after us, received their food before us and then when our food did come out it came out one dish at a time. Rude Rosie the waitress has been there for a long time when I ask her to take something off the bill or do something (even an apology) she said what do you want me to do everybody else had the same bad experience, therefore, you did as well I can't and won't do anything. Usually, the waitress is empathetic to the cause, she had nothing to do with the restaurant's kitchen or leadership having a bad day in the kitchen. I never penalize the server for something they cannot control. It this case she decided to partake in sharing her opinion in a way that was very rude and offensive, highly inappropriate! Stay away from Rude Rosie. I easily spend $500 to $1000 or more per year. I'm sad to say you will never see another dime. read more

I asked my partner if he wanted to order in for breakfast and he couldn't stop laughing. He'd never heard of breakfast delivery. Well take that! Lucky grill provided our breakfast and it was swell. He got an omelette with feta cheese and gyro meat. I tried some and it was excellent. I got scrambled eggs with bacon, hashbrowns with pancakes on the side. I LOVED the pancakes, but I wasn't a big fan of the bacon or the hashbrowns. I felt like the hashbrowns were a bit mushy and the bacon a bit overcooked. But the delivery was fast and it was a pretty hearty breakfast. If you want something simple and decent go here. It was good, not great for me. But I'd probably order again, if I'm feeling lazy. read more

Went there for the first time with my bride and daughter. It was fantastic, much better than it looked from the outside. We went in the late afternoon and had dinner. A large menu, each of us ordered something different and each item was good. The soup was especially good and the break and butter was hot. The lucky grill is a modern American brunch spot. There are 12 booths, 8 tables and a long breakfast counter. The style is late 70s dinner and could be legit. There were two TVs showing soccer on them which could be nice for a football brunch as well. The coffee I got was a bit weak, which is a shame. They do have the full sized sugar container on each table, which I like. The creams are the standard crappy deans prepackaged stuff. My second cup was much better than the first so I may have just got unlucky at first. So overall average coffee experience The style is seat yourself, I came in at 12:30 on a Saturday. They seemed well staffed with a couple of bussers augmenting the 4 waitresses. The staff was attractive and semi attentive. I would not say I felt like they never checked on you but my waitress pulled the wait to check on you when you have food in your mouth move. So professional waitress. I also noticed that this was done to at least the table directly next to me. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. It comes with 2 eggs and hash browns. I added on my typical side of sausage Patti. The biscuits were pre made. They were ok, but nothing special. The gravy was light but flavorless. There was plenty of it but even with pepper and salt it just tasted bland. The side of sausage was also a pass. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hash browns were pretty good. It was interesting to see this come out on a different plate that the BnG came out on. Overall this place seemed average and may be a decent stop if you are in the hood. I would not say that it was a great experience and I would not go out of my way to go again. read more
