Introduction: I got the Yelp email asking if I tried Lucky Louie, so since I'm currently doing the America 250 series of American established restaurants. I'm going geographically east to west across the US with some states represented and is ending with CA, OR, & WA in that order. But I'll go out of geographic order with a bonus 2nd Washington state established restaurant for Lucky Louie. The original Washington state pick will be a chain place in Columbia, MD about 10 miles from my home. Experience with Lucky Louie: Just last week my girlfriend & I had a trip to Seattle & Vancouver, BC. We arrived at SeaTac airport on time. Our hotel was near the airport. We decided to eat in the airport before leaving security as options were somewhat limited like Denny's, Jack in the Box, McDonald's, etc. We wanted something that might be better here and/or hard to come by near home in Maryland. We walked around the airport and considered Lucky Louie as a strong maybe, but we wanted to see what was out there. We walked up to a Poke place, which was a consideration, but it looked weak, and some other various possibilities. Ultimately, we decided to go to that central area in the airport and go with Lucky Louie. We were pretty hungry after long flight and spending a bit of time walking around (as I needed to get a walk in since I was sitting on phone for 5 hours) to determine what to eat. We decided to split the clam strips for $6.99, which were fried & delicious. I was a bit unsure about how good these would be. But this well exceeded expectations. My girlfriend already knew she loved clam strips, and even said this was amongst the best she's had. We decided to get 3-piece Alaskan pollock each, which is a fish & chips. Fries were solid, but wow the Alaskan pollock was excellent. They also had Wild Salmon strips, but it was a good about $6 price differential. We both decided it wasn't worth it. Salmon is one common thing I make at home for dinner; so I never get out. Granted this was wild salmon, which is a little different, but I figured the Alaskan pollock would be a good choice and not something I could get at home/out in Maryland; maybe some restaurant has locally, but I've never noticed it. This was an excellent meal and a must try for people going to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Cashier was nice too. We definitely had some great meals on the trip, but it was a bit downhill after that. Lucky Louie was the single best meal/food experience we had on the trip. We had some other 5-star meals, but some service issues at the excellent food places that in a couple of cases might lower to 4-star even if food is a 5. Interesting Side Notes: Lucky Louie was specific fishing lure from the mid 20th century made in Washington. Before going through security to fly back home, I glanced at the wall, where it mentioned musicians from each decade. For the 1950's, it mentioned the Kingsmen smash hit "Louie Louie". Although the song was a #2 hit in 1963; it was a cover of a 1957 song by Richard Berry, who performed in the Seattle-Tacoma area and was a local hit song. Further, in 1985 there was an effort to replace Washington state's song to "Louie Louie", which failed but was an interesting effort. Not sure if the song was perhaps a secondary meaning of the restaurant's name song in addition to the fishing lure brand. read more

The crispy fish tacos were pretty good for airport food and adding the mild red salsa gave them a bit more flavor. I'm not sure if they had other salsa options but the salsa wasn't spicy at all so if you like spice I would suggest asking if they have any other options or hot sauce. The tacos came on two tortillas which I thought was a smart idea since most tacos fall apart and if someone is bringing this on a plane that would not be a good scenario. Hello everyone, it's Monday June 1st and Jen & I are headed to Canada then off to our Alaska Cruise, but had a lay over in Seattle Airport so like many others waiting for their next leg of the trip we had to get something to eat, many options to choose from, we decided to try Lucky Louie Fish Shack, we had the 2 piece Alaskan Pollock Fish n Chips with a side bowl of Clam Chowder, the fish & chips were very good and was cooked fresh so it was nice & hot the Clam Chowder was good as well as Jen will try Chowder when ever she can. For an airport fish sandwich, this was really good! I ordered at the counter and they told me exactly how long the wait would be. They were spot on and I had my to go bag. I was so excited when I saw this place on the find me gluten free app (yes gf friends, you should be using that app and cross referencing with yelp). The menu doesn't say anything about GF so I approached the cashier who told me yes they do have gf fish and chips, but only the salmon. She also says they have a dedicated fryer? I told her to sign me up. The fish was fried beautifully. Loved the crispy breading and the tender fish inside. And the tartar sauce was really good! This is one of the better food places at SEATAC, if you're in the mood for fish and chips. I was craving some yummy fish and wanted to eat something a little different before catching my flight back home, so we decided to share a fish basket from Lucky Louie. The line was long (which is a good sign), but the employees moved through it pretty fast (though not as quickly as you'd want at an airport, so be mindful if you are rushing to catch your flight - you may want to rethink ordering food here). My basket had two nice sized pieces of fish that had been breaded and fried in a nice panko coating. It was hot, crunchy, and not oily at all. My fish was flaky and tasted very fresh. The crinkle cut fries were nothing special (and right out of a freezer bag I'm sure), but they had just the right amount of crunch on the outside and soft, fluffy potato goodness on the inside. It's very difficult to find seating here, so we had to take our food and sit on a bench a little ways down in the airport. I really hate when airport restaurants don't have enough seating for patrons, so be aware. It's annoying to have to balance your food while juggling carry-on bags. read more

Considering its airport food which is hit or miss, for breakfast I had the Lucky Double sandwich Apple wood smoked bacon, breakfast sausage, and egg smothered with cheese sauce served on a Macrina Bakery Bun. It was not cheap at $14.49, but what is in the airport?! I will say, it did taste good and the cheese sauce was like a béchamel. It was a good sized sandwich that will def fill me up till dinner as I am on a long flight. Eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon and sausage patty were a step above fast food. The Macrina bun stole the show, it was really really good, i could just eat that plain. Be warned, it is a bit messy too, if you get the sauce on the side, might be easier to manage cleanliness haha. Would I come back? Considering MCDs is charging 7-9 for a sandwich half the size, inside the airport price hike, I'd say it was worth it to get quality without a sit down. read more

Stopped by here for some dinner during a layover at SeaTec. My expectations of airport food are normally lower, so I was pleasantly surprised by our experience here. Their fish and chips were good - not the best but definitely better than I expected at the airport. Pieces are on the smaller end. Clam chowder was good too. Prices are reasonable considering you're at the airport. At the food court, so we had no issues finding a place to sit. A little slower for food but not horrendous. This is my go-to-spot for a gluten-free breakfast sandwich if I landed or take off from SeaTac airport. Usually the lines aren't long and the service is really quick. I generally get a gf breakfast sandwich and make it combo. It comes with a hash brown and coffee/water. I get water cause I don't drink coffee. It also comes with a couple condiments - ketchup and garlic aioli. Once I get my sandwich I generally find a spot to eat and enjoy it. The sandwich I got is applewood bacon, egg, and cheese. Everything was great and if you add in the aioli it makes it stand out even more. The hash brown is pretty good. As expected, airport food is always on the pricier side, and here it's about $10-14 for a breakfast bun, plus $4 for a coffee, totaling around $18 with tax. BUT--it's totally worth it. Most airport sandwiches cost about the same, but rarely deliver on quality. This place is different--it's freshly made in-house, and you can taste the difference. I ordered the crispy fish fillet sandwich, and while it took around 10 minutes to prepare (since it wasn't too busy), it was absolutely worth the wait. The bacon came out crispy but not dry, and the sandwich included a thick, fluffy egg layer--almost as thick as the fillet itself. The fish fillet was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and all of it was served on a buttery brioche bun that really made it feel premium. It's also paired with Dillano's coffee, which was solid for a drip--good enough if you're not super picky. The Dillano's coffee shop across the way actually charges about a dollar more and has a longer wait, so grabbing it here makes total sense. The packaging is clean and travel-friendly, and they even include a knife, which is thoughtful since the sandwich is a decent size. I couldn't even finish mine--it was a bit too heavy for an early morning, but definitely satisfying. If you've got time--like me with nearly three hours before my flight--this is a great choice. Even if you're just an hour out from boarding, it's worth the quick wait. Honestly one of the better airport breakfast experiences I've had in a while. read more

I understand the risks involved with getting a Shrimp Louie Salad at the airport, but it sounded really good and I could not help myself. The location is cute. Love the lighted signs, great central location, and just such a clean beautiful spot. Looks like it belongs on a newly constructed pier or something more glam than an airport. The salad was HUGE and had a ton of toppings. It's also a cold salad, so I didn't offend my fellow passengers with shrimp smell (I hope). The dressing was fabulous and there were two containers of it, for those who prefer a heavier salad. I loved it. All the ingredients tasted fresh, like they were added that day. A reasonable priced, fast place to pickup clam chowder. It's basically a pickup counter and there are lots of seats and tables to eat right around the area. However after eating the chowder, I took a short walk around the area and found another place selling Pike's chowder (the best!) for a little more money. I should have checked the reviews On a positive note The Alaskan Pollock was moist, hot with a nice crispy coating and they let me sub coleslaw for the chips and the slaw was very good. On the negative the portions were VERY SMALL. I purposely ordered the four piece fish N chips and the biggest coleslaw on the menu. The meal only came with two small particularly filled portion cups of tarter sauce. When I asked for an extra tartar sauce I was told the small cups would cost me an extra $1 each. They offered me ketchup to put on my fish (???) at no extra charge, I told them I don't eat fish with ketchup on it. All this cost me $23.35. Date: June 15, 2025, at 12:10 PM I placed an order for a chowder bread bowl on my way to work and specifically requested that the soup be kept separate from the bread, as I wouldn't be eating it right away. When the order was being prepared, I noticed an employee with a headscarf scooping the soup directly into the bread bowl. I asked if that was my order, reminding them that I had asked for the items to be packaged separately. She assured me it was not my order. However, shortly after, another staff member informed her that it was in fact mine. There was no apology--just a dismissive, "Oh, it is your order," followed by a comment that I should have asked them to separate it, despite the fact that I clearly had. I was in a rush and didn't have time to ask for it to be remade, which was very frustrating. Unfortunately, by the time I was able to eat it, the bread had absorbed all the soup and the meal was soggy and unappetizing. I paid nearly $20 including tip, and the experience was disappointing. After having already spent six hours on planes, all I wanted was some soup to tide me over during my layover before my final three hour flight to Alaska. Having arrived at 9:30 pm, everything at SeaTac was pretty much closed. But a wander through the large atrium had me finding Lucky Louie's Fish Shack open with, my favorite soup of all, New England style clam chowder. And it did not disappoint. This is one of my go to spots in SeaTac airport. It has a solid supply of fish and chips, fish sandwiches, and fish tacos. And it's all really good, especially this fish sandwich I'm eating right now, which is perfectly fried and nice and crispy on the outside, with some good seasoning and coleslaw. It's located in the food court area right when you enter through checkpoint 3 and tables can be a little difficult to find in spite of the seemingly large seating area. 3 Piece Fish and Chips w/ Pollock (4.25/5): Fish had great crisp and was still flaky inside. The crinkle cut fries were cooked perfectly - crunchy outside and INSANELY fluffy on the inside. I thought the tartar sauce was average and the fish batter could have been a bit more seasoned, but overall very solid. This will drop you about 20 bucks though, so a bit pricey. Chowder Fries (2/5): It's not really their fault that it's bad, it's really just the concept doesn't execute well. You don't get enough chowder to really get to know what it tastes like, but too much chowder so that it completely sogs up the beautiful fries.
