The best Lucky store i've ever seen. Unassuming from the outside. As soon as you enter, straight ahead, there is a hot food station. To your right there is a separate bar area. YES!! A bar! There is a sushi station and an entirely separate sandwich and chicken station. This store is giving Whole Foods vibes!!

This is a life style supermarket. It has many cool sections for food and beverages. The whole store is clean and organized . The displays are interesting and eye catching. I love that they have tables for you to enjoy the food right after you buy them . They have a big grilled in the back of the store . You can buy steaks, filet of fish , wings , sausage , etc for them to grill . You only need to pay for the price on the package . How fun !

This Lucky is the premier Lucky. A cashier told us that it was created as a flagship store, something that all the other Luckys could aspire to. It seriously has it all. Not just your usual made-to-order sandwich/deli counter and salad bar, but barbecue bar, fresh sushi, pizza, burrito bar, ramen, fried chicken, but also if you buy vegetables in the veggie section you can have them cut up for you. Besides all the ready to go hot (or cold) food areas and seating (and drinkery) you have an entire very nice grocery store that has it all - beautiful flowers, bakery, wine selection. Except it turns out, no pre-cooked bacon! Maybe I just couldn't find it but it is my new time saver when I have a Bacon Emergency and the San Juan Capistrano Vons has 4 brands. I'm just saying..... c'mon Pleasanton! Ok, you have many other redeeming qualities, I'm sorry I yelled. So nice to have this Lucky so close to our Pleasanton home!

I have to add an update on the Automated Robot Grocery Delivery, it is pretty amazing and AWESOME! We needed a few grocery items last week on a rainy day so we had the Robot deliver it for us! Ordering is done through the Starship App and you even get to pick a song that you'd like the Robot to play when it arrives! How cool is that!! The Robot arrived in a reasonable amount of time and we could track it via the App. Such an amazing and innovative way for contactless delivery! The neighborhood kids are LOVING the li'l Robots moving around dropping off groceries!

Beware of this store! A lot of their items are expired! This is the third time I have found expired items on their shelves. Last time it was Pickles (yes, pickles!) and honey mustard. I've also noticed that their deli has gone downhill since they've opened. What happened to your smoker? what could have been a great store is now worse than ever. Stop selling expired food!

OMG! I have not seen the new remodeled stores! What a surprise! We had reservations at De La Torres and my husband wanted a drink. I noticed the patio and asked if we could check that out. We walked in and boom! Beer and Wine! We technically could have gone here for dinner and been totally fine. Lots of featured local beers/wines (i.e., 21st Amendment, Altamont, Wente, etc.). We sat outside and enjoyed our beverages before making our reservation. I told my coworkers and they were saying they have to check this out (because they didn't believe me).

This is great store, especially compare to what it was. There is so much selection and the hot food area is very complete from juicy brisket to Poke' to a burrito bar. Can't leave out the Hummus area! Instead of going into good prices and plenty of fish and meat selection (plus they can grill for you) I want to point out a seemingly absurd policy. I ordered a smoothie from a very nice lady and a custom burrito (Could not post up on the trifecta as there was no shrimp in sight) also from a stellar employee. I handed them both a few dollar tip and neither wanted to take it saying "it is against Lucky policy." WAT?!? What kind of dumbass policy would not allow a CUSTOMER to tip if they choose to do so for a combination of good food and excellent service? I left the money anyway and if either of them get in trouble from management, the manager can fire me. Someone please explain the logic behind this as it is annoying going into places that throw tip screens in front of you while paying for doing almost nothing in comparison to the effort these two woman put into making me a nice meal. Next time I might bring in the Cash Cannon just to prove a point. Photo is my custom burrito that had chicken (freshly cut in front of me from a grilled chicken) loads of gauc, light rice, cabbage, onions and peppers, yellow and white cheese, cilantro lime sauce, and made on the premise Pico de Gallo. BOOM.

Did it say European pastries? We had absolutely no room for a single thing, but European? Traditionally European desserts are not heavy on the sugar, don't have all the food coloring, and additives. Ding Ding plus Ding my mind spins fast as my hubby is getting pulled at a rapid pace towards the door. He says "No Way" I say "For another time," as we don't live in the area. We walked in to see cases of pastry delights. I turn back as hubby dares not to enter entirely into the temptation. As I look back I see stacks of boxes, walk over to discover they are all pies! Anyone that knows me knows my last meal in life would consist of Berry Pie for dessert. I look and there it is a Mixed Berry. I turn and ask the lady after she was done with her customer how much for this delight? She said it's $24. Without question I grabbed said pie, and went to the register. I told her that Berry is my favorite, and she went on to say that every Friday is Pie Day. She also mentioned that if I ever needed anything in particular, I could call ahead. She could have it prepared for me. Wonderful lady and beautiful service. Might I add that a pie of this weight and stature normally runs about $35 even $40 in some places. We had a slice the next day because I could not bear it any longer. Without lie this is the best pie I've had in years!!!! Years or even perhaps ever. It has to be realized that if there is Berry Pie of any kind on the menu it will be ordered even to go. There were actual whole berries, and it was not full of sugar like some pies. You can taste the natural fruit of summer, and the crust was perfection!!!! Now I have to wait for a Birthday to order a cake. I'm sure it will be divine! I could take a pic of pie now but it's partially gone. Not so picturesque.

We got the buttercream bread, sweet rice donut, chocolate cloud cake, milk cornet, and the strawberry milk bread. For drinks we got the red velvet hot cocoa and the caramel macchiato. The buttercream bread was my absolute favorite out of the bunch. The butter cream wasn't too sweet and the bread was sooo soft. The ratio of cream to bread was just right, so each bite of bread had a sweet balance of the fluffy cream. The sweet rice donut was okay. To be, it could have been more softer, but it was expected for it to go stale a little bit since it's been out lying for a while. Some things are just unavoidable. The chocolate cloud cake was really good, but there was so much cream. Unlike the buttercream bread, there was imbalance here, but I adored the giant strawberries sandwiched between the cream. The consistency of the actual cake was perfect though, because sometimes I know it can get really soggy from the cream. Next time I would give another cake a try instead. The milk cornet was great! Tried it out because it seemed really popular; there was only one left. This pastry like a croissant stuffed with milky cream. The cornet was perfectly crunchy and the milk cream wasn't too sweet. Next time, I want to give the blueberry version a try. The strawberry milk bread impressed me. It was super soft, and I like how there was a really small amount of cream. Like, I understood what the cream was trying to do there. One bite of just bread would be pretty dry, but a little bit of cream can help smooth things out but still keep the spotlight on the bread. The red velvet hot cocoa drink was what surprised me the most. I suppose this drink is Valentines day edition, so it's not always here. I was so surprised when I opened the lid and saw hot pink foam! Like, DANG! Tous les jours really went out of their way to give us a sip of Valentines day! This drink is on the sweeter end, though. A friend said that the caramel macchiato was just okay, nothing surprising or impressive about it. I guess it was a safe order. The baristas were really efficient with our drinks; both drinks took five minutes or less! I love the interior of this bakery. So cute yet so easygoing. Perfect ambiance for catching up with some girlfriends!

When that happens, I have to give them kudos because at some places, the changes are so subtle they're almost meaningless. The drinks were OK, and they did the job on a a cold and rainy morning. As for the pastries, they were just OK. I've had better at other bakeries (and other branches of this same company), and with the plethora of options around for baked goods, you can find better. With that being said, it may just have been the couple of choices we had for food. The ube filled baked good was not very good, but I say that as an ube fiend. I have ube a lot, including back in the motherland. It was more like taro than ube, when it came to taste. As for the quantity, there wasn't a lot of it either.
