The grocery store itself is exactly what you'd expect. The prices are a little bit higher than other nearby grocery stores but other than that it's a functional grocery store. I can never quite figure out the people who work here though. They always seem pissed off at the customers. Most of us are just going about our day trying to buy our groceries and get the self check out terminals to work because they've only ever got one lane open. Food is expensive and every time I come here there's an issue. Whether it's no shopping carts or cashiers giving me a hard time. I paid for my groceries at self checkout and added one paper bag. I asked for the bag I paid for and the person behind the register was hesitant to give it to me. Prices have been so insane we went here instead of our normal market. It felt a little pricier than our normal spot. Over $8 for a box of cereal as an "Everyday Low Price"?! Those grahams better actually be really golden. If they had a clearance rack (general or bakery), I didn't see it. The only advantages to Lucky besides the "Three's a Crowd" policy and not having maddening app-dependent sale prices, were that they carry jalapeno ketchup and generic Hostess pies, and their cake selection was pretty good. This store "laid off" 6 employees all at once, with a two-week notice. But then this store transferred in 6 employees from another store on the same day. One of the 6 people laid off, Jorgen, is a beacon of the community. Shame on this store for turning its back on its community. I enjoy shopping at Lucky because they provide great service, the people are friendly and helpful, and the prices while not always the best are better than safeway quite often and more affordable. The amount of expired goods they're selling is wild. Every time I come here I have to double check everything before I put it in my cart to make sure it's not expired or about to expire. I've brought this up to employees and they say "oh we'll have to look into that" then walk away. There's a couple staff members that seem to care, but most don't. They also don't honor their own sale prices and will leave you standing around waiting for help, but no one comes :) Avoid this location if you can. read more

I got the birthday cake for my son's birthday. I originally was going to order a regular white cake from Safeway and decorate it myself. Fortunately I checked out lucky bakery when I was running errands around the area. Katrina, the cake decorator, was amazing. She kindly walked over when she saw I was looking around and suggested many ideas of how to decorate the cake after I told her about my theme. She's confident and creative so I trusted her and placed the order. I paid merely $50 for a 10" cake and 24 cupcakes. My friends couldn't believe I got the cake from lucky. But then I spoke the assistant to the pharmacist, I was told, "it'll be an hour for my scripts will be ready." I'm like "huh", the doctor told me he called my prescription in before I even left urgent care, like 20 minutes prior.. Lucky's is the standard unpretentious grocery store that's been around since I was a kid. I don't go there for fun--I go there when I mean business. It isn't modern or gourmet or really even close, but the prices are inexpensive, the store is large and uncrowded. there is plenty of parking, and it has more or less whatever you are looking for; if your idea of a grocery store is pondering what kind of rice cake is more sustainably produced and your tastes run more toward free range meat and organic foods, Lucky's isn't the best place. However, if you'd like to select from four kinds of Captain Crunch, a frozen pizza, a case of beer, and some old school potato salad from the deli, all at low prices, this works just fine. Yeah, I don't know...I never really feel welcome when I shop here and to be frank the employees just aren't that friendly. Everybody just seems pissed off all the time. During the shelter in place, an employee refused to ring me up and another time the employee walked away from the register as I was loading my items up. Another occasion, I was told I couldn't pay in the self check out area because I had too many items. Well I didn't have too many items! The locked liquor is all the way in the back of the store and unless there's somebody around there, it either takes forever OR nobody ever comes. So yeah, usually no Hennessy for me haha. They sometimes have good deals that come out in the weekly ads...but that's really the only incentive to come here. PRIMO Pharmacy Service alert!!! This Luckys is clean and efficient and not filled with piles of people either anytime ! But it's the super great and friendly and helpful PHARMACY staff and their service I'm giving the extra star* too! The women have offered me forever! They are the best and I'm very fortunate to have them care for me! The floors are clean and the isles organized! You find what you want here easily and all the meats are at eye level which of course is a stress relief on your search function! The parking lot is kind of crowded as they have a few popular places within 50 yards of the front door of the Luckys so drive slow around it. I don't always shop at Lucky because it happens to be a little farther from my house than another store, but I happened to be driving by and popped in for a few things. Really, I should go there more, drive the extra half mile, because it is a nice grocery store. It is large with roomy aisles, organized, clean and recently renovated. All of the departments (bakery, deli, butcher, seafood) have a good selection and the produce is fresh. The store branding focuses on being located in California, with various signs and promotions highlighting that fact. The wine section has a dedicated case for local wines, which I appreciate. The store has some extras too; house plants, houshold and basic automotive items, plus a pharmacy. The only thing I've noticed in the few times I've been there is they have just a few checkers and the lines can get long if it is busy, but that seems to be the case with all of the local grocery stores. Probably the worst grocery store around. I would say one in a 7-8 purchases of the meat we got a bad one and have to return it. Last time we got t-bone steak and next day figured out it's already smells like &%*% while it was packed just a day ago. I can imagine quality of the cleanliness at the butcher's workplace and general sanitary if meat went bad that fast. I also would like to highlight that employees there are completely unfriendly like people mentioned before. That's why I always went to self-checkout to avoid them. I've shopped at the Cambrian Lucky for 2 decades. Recently they decided to reorganize the store. Whomever did the layout should be given a prize. It is now organized in the newish method of chaos. Nothing makes sense. I just spent 15 minutes trying to find the canned chili. I gave up and I guess I'll have to go to Safeway. BTW - I don't buy meat there. I recently placed an online order for a cake for my son's 4th birthday party. I received a confirmation email for the order once I placed it and then the day before I received an email stating that my cake was ready for pick up at the scheduled time the next morning. When I arrived to pick up my cake, there was no record of my order and there was no cake ready for me at the bakery. I spoke with two women in the bakery, who were not surprised that there was no cake ready, or that they had never seen my order. They said it was because it was an online order. They said they frequently do not receive the online bakery orders. They shared with me that the orders are printed out in the front of the store and that they are often not brought to them and therefore never processed. There was little accountability on the part of the bakery staff or sympathy in regard to this matter. This upset me ever more, as I felt when talking with them more, that I was being told that it was my fault for placing an online order and that is why I had no cake. They frequently replied saying "What do you want us to do about it?". One of the women eventually told me that I could pick a cake out of the refrigerator and she would write Happy Birthday on it. There were only two birthday cakes available at the time, in the size that I needed and neither were the flavor or at all close to the design that my son had wanted. When I shared this the woman said that she could make me a cake how I wanted it, but that it would not be ready in time for my party. I stated that I did not have time to wait for a cake to be made and I was not able to return to pick up another cake as the party would be starting shortly. I also had my 4 year old son with me at the time. After much back and forth and time spent when I should have been at the event location prepping for the party, one of the women offered to make the cake right then quickly and deliver it to the party location herself, which was a short distance away. I really appreciate her going above and beyond and doing this for me. Though I was very upset about what had happened she came through at the end and got me my cake and I am grateful to her for this. I however was and still am very upset by this incident and the lack of accountability and system issues with online orders. I do not believe that online ordering should be an option if the orders are frequently left unprocessed. Not only that, but confirmation/order ready emails are sent out automatically, regardless of the actual status of the order. read more

I've been going there for 10 years and I talk to many of the people that work there. My is regarding the one line versus multiple lines. When I go in and I see multiple lines I just pick one and get in the back of it. We as customers should not be expected to guess whether there's one line or multiple lines. I used to really like Lucky's it was my go-to but lately they've been falling really short. Prices have been going up, there are a lot of items that are not stocked but the biggest downfall is he customer service. They always seem to be understaffed. Any time their self-checkout machines go crazy, they don't help and blame you and are not very friendly when they come and try to fix it. I never ever feel welcomed by the employees there. This store is clean and always well stocked. The cashiers are all nice and items are really easy to find. Store is not overly huge so you can get in and out quickly. If you are looking for gluten free and kosher products, this is the store to go to. Most grocery stores, blend gluten free items with the other regular non gluten free items, but this Lucky store has all the gluten free and kosher items down one aisle, so you don't have to walk down every aisle for each gluten free product such as pasta, snacks, and pancake mix. Lucky was our go to store for years. We had a couple of bad experiences with meat or produce not being the freshest but in general prices are decent and most staff is okay. Bread, meat , and produce at Safeway are better, but more expensive. So there is a man that works in produce, I believe he is Vietnamese, which has nothing to do with this other than helping to identify him. He is super creepy and inappropriate. He approached my family because he was curious why two women came in with a child. I let him know we were married and he kept asking me more and more questions. At first I thought he was curious, but he never stopped. Then anytime I came in on my own he would ask if I liked men. He tried to talk to me about explicit acts and cornered me to tell me he liked me. I reported this to store management and they did nothing about it. They said they would call me and tell me what their plan was. Long story longer they never did anything, never called me, nothing. I went in today, nearly a year later because I couldn't find something at two other stores, the SAME DAMN GUY literally followed me to the canned goods and asked me where I had been and told me how much he liked me. Women, look out for yourselves because Lucky Management sure won't. read more

The management and employees of this store are not following or enforcing the Covid protocols that they themselves are promoting. Just yesterday there were at least half a dozen employees with masks on their chin or below their nose. Several shoppers were allowed in the store without having masks on and I had to tell them to put them on! Having shopped there on more than one occasion there are specific employees that never wear their masks properly. I have voiced my concerns several times and there have been no improvements. Just left lucky to shop for our weekly food it's 9:00 pm. I found many shoppers including all the lucky staff not wearing masks or gloves many touching all the fruits and vegetable of the little that were in stock.There was no not abiding by the 6 ft. Rule of separation. This is so disturbing. We used self check out so when the machine wasn't working the cashier did not ask us to back up! Instead she came right up to our face to fix machine. Also I notice no one cleaning or wiping down before next customer! What is happening here! Get on the ball people!
