Went to Meineke where they told me they couldn't weld my exhaust because it wouldn't pass smog and then wanted $60 to bend a factory mount and use an impact to tighten some bolts more. I'm no mechanic but I do a lot of auto repairs myself. Didn't like what they said so left. Stopped in here at Cars and Muffler. Really trusted them with the work before giving them the ok. Fixed my exhaust for me faster than I could get signed up on their computer. They really know their stuff. Asked multiple questions and gave great answers. I needed to get a brake and lamp inspection for the DMV. There are not many shops that are certified to perform this service. I checked the YELP reviews for a couple of them and they were not positive with reviewers writing that the shop claimed that they had not passed inspection. I chose to go with Cars Auto even though they were more expensive than the other shops due to their positive YELP reviews. My car was ready before the time expected and I passed both inspections without worrying if I was going to be ripped off. I brought my car in for service and a Catalytic Converter cage. Turns out the cage wasn't needed due to the location of the CC, but they went ahead and etched the license number on the CC anyway. They found a nail in my tire that the tire place had missed -- and fixed it at no charge. They sent photos of the stuff that needed repair or replacing. Called in the morning, mentioned they were recommended to me for a smog check, and to check if they were busy and Mike indicated they were not. Explained to him that I needed to get the cats hot and would want to roll in and test right away. He was very curt, not very friendly, and I guess the best comparison would be the smog version of the Soup Nazi. I went all the way down there from Culver City and when I arrived, they were not testing anyone and I went in to get things going. I have to say, he has got to be the most disinterested person I've come across lately. No sense of urgency, had my car idling for about 10-15 minutes (after saying they would get it going in 3) and so finally I was so irked by the whole lack of desire to help that I told them I was leaving. Leaving to drive a half hour across town to Koreatown to try another shop. That's how frustrated I was with their lackadaisical attitude. It's like they had too much business to be bothered. Hacks! I brought in a 1992 Buick Riviera making a grinding noise when rolling. Was told I needed the front axle bearings replaced. 2 days later and out $600.00, I picked up the car and was told "Well, we fixed most of the noise". No change, another shop diagnosed it as a transmission problem. If these people can't tell the difference, they're in the wrong line of work. I came in to have a problem fix. When they gave me there inspection results, they'd tried to tell me my brakes needed to be renewed which didn't make since to me because it was not what I brought the car in for. Furthermore a had gotten new brakes a year prior. Once the car was running again, my brakes were making so much noise suddenly. They weren't making this noise before I brought the car in. I feel that they knew I was desperate and they wanted to take advantage of me. I'm truly upset, these people are crooks. I drive for Lyft but now thanks to this I can't work until I get this problem that wasn't there in the first place fixed. Terrible service and the fact that I can't prove it makes me sick. Went here because my truck exhaust was too loud. I went to 2 other muffler shops before I can here. Both didn't understand what I wanted, one of them sold me a muffler that was still extremely loud, and the other offered me a muffler $100 over what Cars charged me. My 2005 Audi A6 had a crack in the exhaust system. It had had a similar issue a few of years ago. The Cars folks had fixed it back then with a quick weld. When I heard the car make the same noises, I brought my Audi in again. Michael saw that another crack had formed below the original weld. This place is a real joke the owner is very vague with the work performed. I recently took my r.v. into his shop and asked for the water pump to be replaced and to fix the carburator. This business charged me $4600. Dollars let 8me spell it out four thousand six hundred dollars. Before paying the bill i asked him to show me exactly what was done. Without saying anything he got behind the wheel and started it up (which took 3 times to get running) i stood outside in front looking under the r.v. to see if water was leaking and saw that now there was oil leaking from the engine. I asked him about it (the owner mike) and he said you didnt pay for that. What i asked and he said you didnt pay for a new motor. I was shocked i knew by his attitude that we werent gonna get any real service from this tweaker. So we left and couldnt believe what happened or should i say didnt happen. As we got 1 block away the r.v. died we had to restart it after 4 cranks it started running. We barely got another few blocks and it stopped running again. We turned it back on and then went to a storage yard to park it. We turned the r.v. off and it continued running dieseling and spurting then a load bang and back fire. When we checked the invoice it said he performed was a smog c heck that we didnt authorize some belts changed a weld done on the thermastat housing cause he said that part is no longer available (which is a lie) parts are available i checked at autozone And claimed the water pump was replaced. Im questioning whether that was done at all. dont think they did anything at all and this cost us $4600. Dollars. This owner mike is rude and a crook i am mechanically inclined and know how to do this work but didnt have the time. And because tge r.v. is in my wifes name he avoided me and got her to sign the release. When i asked what she was signing he said that im releasing the vehicle back to you. We are at the same spot i was to begin with an r.v that isnt running properly and out $4600. Dollars which i could have used for a reliable mechanic and have an r.v. running in top performance. We are taking pics and video of the r.v. so all can see and hear for our court hearings because this needs to be handled legally. We would never take our vehicle back there to do any repair work of any kind. We will find another source and would never go back there or recommend this business to anyone. When i asked him about the carburator work he said i never asked them to do that and its not free what did you expect a new motor. Remember the oil i asked about and he said we didnt ask for any work to be done. Well on the invoice it states they did an oil change using synthetic oil. So he lied about that too. This business is not at all reputable to me and all should be very cautious doing business here they only care about getting your money and have an excuse for everything when your vehicle still isnt running good. Decide for yourself everyone wouldnt you be upset to pay $4600. Dollars and your vehicle still has problems. I dont care what you take your vehicle into a shop for it could be without an engine and for $4600. Dollars there are thousands of shops that would have gladly put an engine in and make sure it is drivable. This is what cars automotive is incapable of doing dont lose your money go somewhere that proudly backs there services cause these guys dont have ethics at all. read more

We had a fan issue that was resolved but we specifically asked to have the battery checked. Said it was good. Less than a week later - far from home - the battery died and when AAA showed me the battery it was clear they hadn't checked it. If I could give this place a zero, I would...I spent a lot of money and have been left with the feeling that I was lied too without making all the necessary repairs that I requested....and was it as damaged as they stated as such as I am not sure at this point....first there was the fact that I was told it would take 2 days and it ended up taking 2 weeks plus...part wasn't sent but not called to inform of extended time needed then bolts were missing from kit, then broken bolt to extend it more time...my truck was damaged with door dings in their cramped lot and 2 large dings in my hood...and I was blamed by Michael that it was like that but had no photos to back up his claim...so.. they took it to a ding specialist, the paint job came back a total disaster. I was told no touch up paint would be used and that is all they used..and used a compound on the hood that literally damaged the paint worse than it was when I gave it to them. After a week I took it back due to the repair not fixed, (radiator) they had it for a day with the diagnostics of the problem being the radiator cap....I took it to Phillips and Sons in Torrance and they diagnosed the radiator is leaking...another $1500. Do not take any vehicle to this mechanic with his unreliability of staff as well of his temper his high and Michael will blame you for all their mistakes....I asked Shirley to take photos of all the work that was done...not one photo was taken..I specifically told her about my radiator leaking from the very beginning and it was in the notes from day one but not one word after was written and no work done. My fault for not reading everything on the bill after 3 weeks off time to ensure it was all done. This place is a AAA recommended mechanic and AAA has failed to do anything to satisfy my expenditure with their recommendation....failure on both AAA and CA&M.....just add an S to the front of that last acronym and that is how I feel.... do not go to this mechanic and do not ever trust a AAA recommended place to touch your vehicle... read more

:( If only I could give no stars. Went here b/c my poor muffler was draggin on the ground. Weird huh? Yeah, especially when I didn't hit anything and nothing hit me. Anyways, I called and Mike answered, he was ok over the phone and said to bring it in. Kool right? Well I came in and he looked at the car and without even checking underneath it he basically said something to the extent of: "Who did you hit? or uh...who hit you? Because you're going to need a new muffler, etc.etc." I looked at him crazy, then looked at my boyfriend with that, 'Seriously?' look. My car had NO rear damage AT ALL! I told him, "I didn't hit anyone, there was no accident." His response was, 'Well you hit something." EXCUSE ME, but just because I'm a female driver DOES NOT mean I don't know how to drive. Get that outta your head buddy. I drive very well thank you. So he said something about how my tailpipe was all bent and he'd have to replace it with a new muffler and blah blah blah. My boyfriend excused us for a second and we decided we just wanted him to get my muffler back up off the ground and secure it. That's all. He was hesitant to do that. See, he was trying to sell me something I didn't need. If my muffler was all choked up and hardly any exhuast coming out like he said it was, my car would have problems running. I drive that car from Redondo to Santa Monica everyday no problems. I know BS when I hear it. Don't go here. P.S.- Their customer service sucks. They didn't even greet us when we got there.
