The food is fresh and the staff is kind. I can tell why they have so many accolades. Rare to find a breakfast spot that can do it all. The vibe is casual, this place could be your next weekly tradition. Prices are fair. My recommendation try the home made jam, you won't regret it. It may sound like a lot packed into it, but don't let that deter you.

Delicious pecan crusted bacon. Unique and absolutely fantastically creamy and savory baked eggs. The "canoe wreck" was a conglomeration of tofu bits, onion, large potato chunks, and some sort of curry or otherwise Indian inspired thin sauce. It was truly a pile of food. Can't say I appreciated it due to the lack of actual tofu chunks and how it all glommed together into a mildly spicy curry type mix. Not appealing to me. The toast and bits of fruit on the side were nice. As usual they had multiple delectable bakery offerings such as a thin mint brownie and various cookies and mousse type desserts.

Came here on a Saturday morning. Ordered the waffles and the shipwreck. Also ordered the Lucky's signature latte which was very big and sort of sweet. The portion sizes were nice and very filling. I would say the toast is a little bit on the oily side. The jam used on the waffles were also pretty sweet. Overall, I would come back here again probably one of the better brunches I've had. I also like that all of the ingredients are locally sourced. The wait on a Saturday morning for two people wasn't too long and the servers were very nice. The interior was a little bit cramped, but it only added to the cozy feel of the restaurant.

This place is straight out of a Hallmark movie. SO cute and the staff were so friendly. This is a farm to table restaurant and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and ingredients used. I got the Biscuits and the Turtle Latte and both were to die for. Probably one of the best breakfast/brunch spots! Excited to come back and try their vast selection of baked goods and lunch menu.

Out to celebrate a birthday and had to check out this highly rated breakfast spot and it did not disappoint. The staff was very welcoming and the food was delicious and the s'mores latte was a great way to warm up the cold day. Best latte ever

I'm sorry to report that Lucky's is ABSOLUTELY worth the hype! We went on a rainy day, so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The service was fast and the workers were friendly. The food was phenomenal. I got the waffles and they were cooked very well. Light, fluffy, the homemade whipped cream was so good, and the strawberry rhubarb topping was to die for. The coffee was tasty, and the biscuits were delicious too. Overall rating: 5/5 stars What an amazing experience, there's not much else to say. I'll definitely be returning.

Cute little cafe in the heart of Tremont. Food is always great and was even featured on Diners Drive In's and Dives. Service is always friendly but they do get slammed, so just enjoy the coffee or tea and enjoy a relaxing morning.

We walked in at 11:40am on a Sunday and were told about 35 minute wait. (We gave our number and they called when our table was ready.) There didn't seem to be a waiting area inside so we walked around the neighborhood a bit. We were pleasantly surprised when only 11 minutes later we were called to be seated! From being seated at 11:52am... our food didn't get delivered until 1pm (not a typo). Our server was lousy. We asked for water 3x and never got it. We ended up walking to our car and bringing in our water bottles. He did acknowledge us eventually and took our drink orders. We were told that he'd take the drink order then the food a little later. When he took food orders, he didn't write them down. He had to come back to our table several minutes later to confirm our order before ringing it up. We saw him return to other tables to ask them to repeat their orders, too. We watched another table in his section repeatedly ask for water. We saw a table change their mind after waiting so long before being acknowledged. We watched him interact with a table (who had been warned of how slow he worked) tell him that she wanted to order both her drinks and food all at once. He flat out told her NO. So she just ordered food. It was a very frustrating environment to be in, as we saw other tables getting much better/quicker service from other servers and watched him not seem to care. We told ourselves that we would leave if we didn't get our food by a certain time. Then I convinced my husband to wait 5 more minutes. At 1pm it finally came out. (The potatoes weren't cooked as requested, but there was no way we were waiting any longer, and we received an item we hadn't ordered and sent back. Perhaps if our order was written down, this could have been avoided.) The bacon was delicious. We both enjoyed our food (was it really good or were we just starving, idk). The menu items were unique and sounded great. I probably wouldn't opt to revisit Lucky's (based on this experience).

Stopped by Lucky's in Cleveland to load up on carbs before a marathon. The food was excellent! I got the Shipwreck (eggs, toast, etc.), and my husband had the waffles. The bacon was delicious but extremely crunchy. And a special shoutout to the coffee: it was huge! Definitely the biggest cup I've ever been served.

I absolutely love Lucky's cafe for breakfast. Located in the heart of Tremont this quaint restaurant is a true gem. My friends and I went for a girls brunch on an early Sunday morning. We arrived within 5 minutes of them opening and we were able to walk right in and be seated immediately. Parking was available on the street but the spots get taken fast so prepare to walk if you have to. All the staff were so welcoming and attentive. Our waitress was so sweet and took great care of us. The food is so fresh and delicately crafted. I ordered the smothered cheddar biscuits from tv lol they were truly a star of the menu to me! A must try for sure. I also had a fresh cinnamon roll and that was tasty too. I will be back more often to try more menu items in the future. I rate this place a 9.5/10!

Popular brunch spot in tremont, known for their two Foodnetwork featured items (Biscuits and Lucky's Rueben) and their amazing cinnamon rolls. Their speciality coffees are also worth the hype! Get up early on a weekend and get in line for Lucky's Cafe! The wait normally isn't bad, and if there is a long wait, stop by a neighborhood coffee shop (Roasted, Civilizations) to grab a coffee. When the weather is nicer, their patio is also open, which allows for more seating! Stop by Lucky's if you haven't had a chance!!

I don't usually go for sweets at brunch, but I tried the waffle and it was absolutely amazing--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of flavor. I thought I ordered hash browns, but they turned out to be more like oven-roasted potatoes--and honestly, I wasn't even mad because they were still incredible. Parking was surprisingly easy, and the staff were kind and welcoming. The coffee was just okay--nothing special--but everything else made up for it. Great spot for a cozy, satisfying brunch. Just had brunch here for the first time last weekend and have to say this one is topping the charts as one of my favorite places to eat in Cle. They have a garden out back where they grow all their own fresh produce. Amish locals came by to drop off hand milled flour and other farm grown products while we were there. They have a covered outdoor patio with darling hand-painted tables and fence, and an artistic walkway. Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious, presentation is unique and adorable (check out the lemons on a stick in the attached photo), portion sizes are generous, and prices are reasonable. All in all a fantastic little restaurant. I just wish they had more than one restroom! read more

My friend treated me to lunch here. This is one of her favorite spots in Tremont, and I can see why. It is a very quaint place. Food actually tastes and looks homemade and I believe they use local ingredients. I ordered the bacon mac and cheese. Our food took a long time to come out. The mac and cheese was pretty good but the cappuccino I had was amazing. Everything was a little too pricey for me so I probably won't be frequenting this place often. read more

This is by far my favorite place to grab brunch in Cleveland. It's independantly owned, employs great wait staff, and hands down the best food. You can always identify a quality organization by thier actions, and after they picked up our tab when a sign fell on my wife, it became very clear that this is one of those operations. Highly recomended! read more

I'm from SFO area but was visiting Cleveland for family gathering. I saw Lucky's review on yelp and wanted to try. Even my husband who is originally from Cleveland and his sister, plus mother all did not know about this place. We all had a great experience. Right after we got there, the line got long so we were lucky. I think they are very creative. I will go back again to try other dishes. next time I will share the main dish so I have some space to get some desserts. read more

Went there for lunch. I had the the grilled cheese with butternut squash soup. Soup was really good but the grilled cheese was greasy. My friend got the mac and cheese. I tried some...good but very salty. Food is supposed to be all homemade so i was expecting something a little more healthy tasting. A touch on the pricy side too. read more

I just don't get the hype of this place. Once you walk in, it looks like a nice, quaint little dining spot that you would find in Lincoln Park in Chicago. Place gets a star for that. Once you get to the menu, you get intrigued by the offerings. They look nice and creative along with some very recognizable brunch items. Then the execution. Sorry, but I was utterly let down the two times I ate here. The second visit had me excited on a house hash special. I seriously drowned that thing in hot sauce to help it out. I tried other peoples plates and had the same reaction again. I am a passionate food person but I am not snob. This place is so underwhelming. The price point doesn't justify the execution. It almost makes me angry. That being said, I will go to other places. read more

We went to Lucky's Cafe because of its appearance on DDD. The brunch did not disappoint. From the delightful atmosphere to the attentive service, it was an overall fantastic experience. The portions are huge, and they were reasonable when it came to substitutions, and they even had soy milk for coffee --BIG BONUS in my book. I just don't understand why there is still a surcharge. It's just good karma to throw in the milk your customer can have if they are already ordering a big breakfast, but that's a minor detail. The potatoes were perfectly crisp and well seasoned, and I was over the moon that there were some healthy options, including a veggie omelette. We also bought a package of granola as a gift for someone. The granola was also great, but holy cow on the price! Definitely not something we would buy again, but it was a nice one-time splurge. Although we sat inside, it looked like there was a lot of outdoor seating in the back, and there was also a nice area to get coffee and pastries to go. Since I'm not one to order pancakes and other bread products, I cannot judge the quality of the more carby menu options, but if you're look me and love brunch and are always on the hunt for a healthy choice at a place where your dining companions have other, equally tasty options in the carb department, this is your place! read more

Pretty amazing. I saw this on diner, dives, and drive-ins. The food was stellar. The whole place is pretty awesome and very much a quaint restaurant. I will be coming back for the Ruben. The Potato salad is AMAZING...Holy crap it is so delicious! haha...sorry I had to say that. read more

Recommended by our waitress at Nemo. Small, but strong menu. My first time having biscuits and gravy. I'm always afraid it will be gluey and soggy, but I felt confident it would not be here and I was right. Somehow the incredible biscuits stayed perfect under all those eggs and that amazing, amazing sausage gravy. Pot of French press coffee was perfect. Another spot to remember for my next time through Cleveland. Also, the most cheerful waitress possible. read more

Farm to table breakfast is really nice. The waffle was TO DIE. my husband got the biscuits in gravy and we split the veg omelet. The wait was crazy so I ordered us lattes while we waited which took 15 just for the lattes to be made. It seems like a popular spot but the barista is pretty overwhelmed. We sat outside on some nice picnic tables. It was a nice morning. read more

Amazing breakfast/ brunch spot in Tremont area. Parking is curbside and might be hard to find on busy Sundays. We got an order of the mac n cheese fit the table.. Delicious! I first heard of this place on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" and immediately knew I had to find out how amazing it was for myself. Although the prices are on the high side, our breakfast was amazing! I had the biscuits and gravy, which were the most delicious biscuits and gravy I've ever had in my life! My mom had the waffle which literally tasted like dessert! I also had a delicious mocha that didn't even last until my breakfast arrived! I will most definitely be going back to Lucky's if I'm ever in Cleveland again! read more

Got a half order of waffles and the burrito, my sister got a half order of waffles and an omelette. 2 coffees. Total $51. For growing their own food and using local farmers, it sure seemed way over priced. Waffles were excellent, not worth $13, but still good. The burrito and omelette were just okay, nothing special. My sister (a vegetarian) asked for no bacon, but was quickly told no substitutions, so keep that in mind if you plan on going. read more

The waitress only came by to check on us once. Didn't offer jelly or anything for toast. $13 for a grilled cheese and soup! Pretty expensive stuff. Not many vegan or healthy choices at all, not many choices period. Tofu scramble was okay, way too many veggies not enough tofu or potatoes. Ordered hash browns and got home fries. Good location. Clean. Friendly enough. Won't go again. read more

We used to love Lucky's but today was definitely a let down. The staff was complacent and pretentious. We stood waiting to be acknowledged or welcomed as several staff members stared at us or walked around us. I have a food allergy and when I asked the waitress if the shipwreck could be made without eggs, she laughed at me and said that it was pre made, contrary to their mission statement, and couldn't be done instead of offering any sort of help. The food was not up to its usual standard as well. The Mac and cheese was way too salty and soupy. The biscuits and gravy were covered with green onions and came with the tiniest side of potatoes. Don't think we will be going back! read more

History

Established in 2002.

Once a lonely, yet cherished, coffee shop, with Heather's bakery in the back, Chef Heather took the reigns and started making Sunday brunch in the tiny bakery. Before the present kitchen was added, Chef Heather and her crew were serving 300 to 400 brunches, Saturday and Sunday each week to long lines of hungry, dedicated fans drawn to her exquisite renditions of traditional favorites. Her very first menu item remains on the menu today as a perrenial favorite: The Shipwreck - A blissful blend of hash browns, farm fresh eggs, seasonal veggies, bacon, and cheddar cheese, served with house-baked Como toast & fresh fruit.

Chef Heather has been in the kitchen since childhood, when she worked in her mother's catering business. She was one of the owners of The Peterson House & Bear Cafe in Woodstock, NY where she developed her James Beard-recognized dessert, the 40-Layer Cashew Crepe Torte. She was a major force in the renaissance in rustic baking while running bakery operations for Grand Central Bakery in Seattle. She was also instrumental in developing the original pastry menu for Starbucks - some of which survives today in her coveted Ginger Chewie cookies. Loved and admired by other chefs as well as hungry patrons, Chef Haviland has consulted on a number of restaurants and bakeries and was the opening pastry chef for "fire food and drink" in Shaker Square. Most recently her charm and laugh have gained popularity through numerous television appearances, including the profile of Lucky's Cafe on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food Network in October 2009.

It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. I could have easily had a whole stack of the pancakes. The staff was friendly, and though the place was busy, the service was efficient. Excited to come here again! It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

I just love the story; this brewery is downtown in a huge building that looks almost too big for what's inside. It's an old newspaper building, hence Masthead. But even more fun, the original name of the city was "Cleaveland" but it couldn't fit on the newspaper masthead, so they simply shortened it to "Cleveland" and here we are today. The brewery name is in reference to these stories. They have a ton of seating, and a well planned ordering area as you enter. They have high tops, bar seating, and huge long tables for large groups or to share. They also have a great outdoor seating and standing area along the city streets lined with trees. The bartenders were all super friendly and efficient with all the customers constantly coming up. I got a great flight of styles, I wish I had the time to have had more; next time. Our table ordered a bunch of different pizzas to try; I loved the crispy yet soft crusts, cheeses, oils, and fresh ingredients on tap. Prices on everything is reasonable for the quality. This was definitely a favorite stop of the day, and a must-visit if you're on a beer tour of the area.

I visited Cleveland for the weekend and was psyched to find the best brunch place. I'm all about the brunch! Yelp's clear winner directed me to Lucky's Cafe. I obliged, however, truth be told, once I saw the name Grumpys, I thought thats gotta be the greatest place ever. But Yelp won out...big mistake. I ordered the shipwreck, a scramble of eggs, cheese, potatoes, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It was good, not great. Satisfactory in every way but just didn't leave me thinking I just ate at a great brunch place. It was just very ordinary and standard. I thought the saving grace of this place could be my order of the pecan encrusted bacon, but no such luck. Honestly, I was so pumped for this bacon. It just sounds so good. Unfortunately, what I received was three long, yet limp strips of bacon covered in brown sugar and topped with a dusting of pecans. Theres nothing crusted on this bacon...it all just falls off. Theres no life, or crispiness, or crunch to it. So disappointing...since that name, pecan-encrusted bacon, just sounds so amazing, ugh! Frustrating Anyway, I was very disappointed with my trip to lucky's cafe. Not bad...but not great. Next time I'm in Cleveland, I'll be taking my talents to Grumpys! P.S. Who are all you people that LOVE Lucky's? Are you masochists that enjoy being treated rudely by a homely waitstaff? Enjoy paying over $25. for an unhealthy and mediocre breakfast? Love a place that puts a big desperate poster of Guy Fieri on their window? I don't get you Lucky's people. I don't get you at all. To say that I dislike Lucky's would be an understatement. I out and out hate it. From their inflexible chef who seems to believe her "recipes" are such sacred cows she cannot even leave a slice of cheese off to accommodate for allergies. To their cheap and tacky country-kitsch interior/exterior. To their rude waitstaff (especially the counter people). I hate it all. Much of the desserts taste like a big slab of butter. Pay over $5. for soy drinks. Their farm to fresh guise...as if it is a healthier and more responsible way to eat. Take one look at the chef. You will see how healthy it is. Don't even think of eating here if you are a vegan, have any food allergies at all, or like be treated politely while dining. This is a really cute place with totally spot-on service. It's a little on the pricey side, though. My French Press was $7, BUT it was a HUGE French press (easily 3 cups) of the most *perfect* coffee I've had in years. Being a bit of a coffee connoisseur I'll happily pay for another one of those. The waffles, however, were $14 and not my favorite. They had a vanilla pastry cream on top which was good, but it then had this rhubarb and strawberry compote that was way too sweet for me, and there wasn't any sort of saltiness or crunch element to break that up. I would definitely come here again for the French press alone, and maybe try something else off of the menu, probably on the more savory side. read more

Never has it ever happened when I was not excited to comer over this breakfast place because it always up my hopes whenever I visit even when I am not having a good day because the staff here is very friendly and kind bunch of people. Second, and most important thing about this place is the joyous nature of food. I always struggle to order to food here because I wanna have everything and usually what happens here is that I order almost everything. And naturally I could not eat all, I ask them to pack the leftovers which last me an entire week because the food is so good and the serving size is great too. However it is way overpriced for what it is. $17.50 for a pulled pork sandwich" $13.50 for breakfast burritos? Other than that, the dining experience was pretty much abysmal. Out food took over 45 minutes and our server was non-existent. And to top it off we were charged for a coffee drink we had already paid for while waiting. How is the place getting all these rave reviews? The waitstaff are snooty hipsters that seem to have better things to do than pay attention to when you need stuff. There are no substitutions or omissions which is just stupid (why can't I just NOT GET the bread on my plate? doesn't that save them money?). The food is all swimming/caked in/smothered in butter and cream. Don't get me wrong I love my soul food. But this was just bad. And when I got a muffin it was stale!
