My husband and I are visiting the Bay City area for a conference. Upon checking in to our hotel I always ask the desk clerk to recommend the best restaurant, without hesitation she said Lucky's Steakhouse. So off we went. My husband had fish and chips that were very good and very typical. I had the grouper, with green beans and mashed red potatoes, it was exceptional!!! The portions were so large we could have easily shared!! Our server was attentive and he was the one that recommended my dish. We are normally fans of Lucky's but today's lunch experience was pathetic. As soon as we sit down, the waitress tells us there is no bread available yet. No problem. The meal was slow coming. My Chicken Swiss sandwich was over cooked hard and dry. Had a few bites, there was no Swiss. Meanwhile still no bread, while we see all of the tables who arrived after us have bread. So we ask for it - 10 minutes later it comes. Then we notice no butter. We flag down the server to get us butter. 10 minutes later, it comes but by then the bread is cold and we're finished with the meal. Bill comes, we were over charged for the mimosa. Flag down the waitress to fix the bill. More time. Ten minutes later we flag down the waitress and she finally picks up the credit card and cashes us out. 2 stars given because the French dip was very good. On the way out we started to tell the hostess about our experience, but another employee interrupts the conversation (something else), so we leave. read more

Our Server Mitchell was fantastic and we got our food and it was delicous and I got refills he even brought ramch out like I asked instead of tartar. Hostess was terrible and a 20 minute wait turned into over an hour wait. You need to avoid this place unless you have eight or more for a reservation. Talked to the manager and she was no help at all. After 1.5 hour of waiting we had to walk out. read more

Unfortunately, tonight was not a great evening at Luckys. I ordered the Cajun chicken pasta. But it was off from start to finish. Pasta, which was limited, was undercooked. This was my first time visiting a Lucky's Steak House. It was a popular place on a Friday night. The dining room and bar area were full. Prices are reasonable. A prime rib and a porterhouse with a beer and martini came to about $60. There wasn't a lot of waste either, which is so common with lower quality meats. French Onion soup with melted Provolone was very good. The Provolone was a perfectly good substitute for Gruyere which I'm sure costs more. A small sacrifice for a lower price. Our server was personable, attentive, and quick. She added to the experience. A good place to eat. read more

Always go there for the big ribeye 22 ounce steak they used to have it now they don't and they're charging the same price for a 16 ounce steak as the 22 oz had a beer and a glass of wine and I told her to cancel my order but she brought me a beer and wine anyways cause I was going to order that with my ribeye steak they are over charging and they charge me eight dollars for a glass of wine when it used to be like 495 overpriced I will not be back read more

Came here on a recommendation from the locals. Great suggestion! Service was fast and friendly. We got a large loaf of garlic bread and whipped butter when we sat down. I ordered a hard cider on tap with a burger and onion rings. My mother got a French dip with sweet potato fries. The portions were HUGE. Often times when portions are that big, I feel they lack flavor. That was not the case here. The burger was cooked perfect and the onions on top were sweet. All veggies were fresh and crisp. The onion rings were thick with the perfect amount of crunch. The French dip came on the signature garlic bread. Each half was a full sandwich and the prime rib was delicious. It's been several years since I have been to a Lucky's Steak House, but this was my first experience at this location. Much like the locations I visited in Davison and Fenton, the ambience of the restaurant provides a formal, yet relaxed dining experience. The service was friendly and responsive, and cocktails delivered from the bar arrived on point. Not having been at a Lucky's in a long time, the seafood section of the menu immediately caught our eye. We ordered the Salmon New Orleans, the Florida Mahi Mahi and a side of lobster tail. As anybody who has been at Lucky's can attest to, the complimentary bread and butter were hot and delicious, and as for dinner, the lobster tail was well done, seasoned and served with a side of clarified butter and lemon. The Mahi Mahi was slightly overdone and lacked taste. The "light sauce of fresh garlic, roasted tomatoes, white wine and herbs" almost resembled a paste spread over the fish and was the origin of taste for the Mahi, which was otherwise bland. The salmon came underdone and soft, similar to what one might expect in sashimi. After requesting for it to be returned to the kitchen to be cooked longer, it returned flaky. The scallops served with the salmon were undercooked both before and after reheating. The flavor of the salmon itself was good, but was overpowered by the spicy salmon bisque poured over it. Both entrees came with shrimp and mussels as part of the sauce. The shrimp in both dishes was perfectly cooked, but the mussels were inconsistent in taste, and the last one I tasted tasted left a sour/vinegar taste in my mouth. Service, bar and ambience - great, especially for the price of the items on the menu, but if you go here, stay away from the seafood entrees. read more

We stopped at their Bay City location to celebrate our anniversary and WOW, is it hot in here! Come to find out, this is a regular occurrence at ALL Lucky's locations, as the owner REFUSES to fix the units for FOUR SUMMERS in a row! it's 91° outside and 81° inside. The poor employees are forced to wear BLACK LONG-SLEEVED shirts and ties in a stifling work environment. The butter for my potato normally comes in a cold ball and it was completely melted. One can only imagine how hot it must be in the kitchen. There are only ceiling fans, no plug in fans as they are not allowed!! The work conditions are like something out of a third world country. I went twice over the last 3 weeks. The first time I went with my boss. They made us wait about 20 minutes for a table. When we were sat there were about 10 open tables in the dining room. I always wonder what's going on when we wait to be sat and there are multiple open tables. I got the Gorgonzola Ribeye with a house salad and brussels. I'm not sure why places serve house salads with wilted or spoiled lettuce. It's a relatively inexpensive item so I guess it's laziness during the sorting process. Maybe they don't store it properly. The steak was completely smothered with the toppings. If I were to get this again I'd get the gorg and mushrooms in the side. Also, the steak was in a puddle of oil/grease. It was so much there was no way to avoid it. It might have been because of the gorg and mushrooms. The brussels were a little over cooked but they were still good. The second time I went was with my boss and some colleagues. Again, we waited 25 minutes and when we were sat there were 5+ open tables.We started with the onion appetizer. I like fried onions. This one was pretty good. I didn't try the sauce. I learned my lesson from the my first visit and got the "small" ribeye and stayed away from the gorg/shrimp topping. I think it was 18oz so it was still pretty good sized. The steak was still in a puddle of grease. I know ribeye is a fatty cut but this just seems excessive. I ordered the brussels again and I got broccoli instead. Not a big deal and I ate them anyways. I didn't make it into downtown Bay City so I'm not sure what else is around. Ate here on Sunday. Don't think I've ever had a steak properly cooked here in the 10 or 12 times eating at this location. You'd think I'd learn my lesson on continuing ordering steak here (I'm going to a "steak house" so of course I want steak) but luckily most times I am here it's for special occasions and I do not have to pay. Steak usually comes out swimming in a pool of oil, not sure what that's all about. The bread however, is amazing and the sides are also pretty good. Love the Brussel sprouts. Crazy to say I've had a better steak at UNO's across the street. They need to hire better cooks or drop the "steak house" from their name until they can work out the inconsistencies. First time to this location and waitress was very pleasant the greeter was there, just there. Filet was cooked to a perfect medium, my only complaint was that the potato was very dry. Prime rib was spot on. Lucky's never disappoints. Still believe Rochester and Imlay are better than this one. read more

Lucks is a fair priced steakhouse. I like the option to add on stuffed shrimp or a lobster tail. The bread before the meal is good. They have great options for sides. The deserts are good with big portions. Personally I'd prefer a disposable napkin vs the non absorbent ones they use. The biggest issue is, today I was told they do not have A-1 steak-sauce. They gave a bottle of house steak sauce that was a very watered down tasting generic steak sauce. This actually stopped me from buying gift cards today which was my original plan. Great spot right next to our hotel. The service was lovely. A gentleman and a lady greeted us at the table just a little over an hour before they close and they were very patient while we decided. The brought their awesome bread seasoned with garlic and salt. I could've made a meal out that. I ordered the chicken gnocchi and it was tasty, but just a touch to salty. It came with a side and I chose the brussel sprouts which were delicious. I wish I was hungrier to finish it all off. They also had a broad beer offering. I chose a local ale that did not disappoint. Pretty good! Fresh bread was warm and good, a whole loaf, similar to a baguette style but tasted more like an Italian bread. Very good. Homemade ranch, excellent. Some others were homemade too. Steak salad was good, the steak was great, cooked medium, was very flavorful, salad was good (normal) lettuce tomato cucumber roasted red peppers & blue cheese. Friend had the porterhouse, looked excellent to me but he said there was a little too much fat (doesn't sound like a problem to me), otherwise great taste. Baked potato was huge, side of steamed broc was normal, still good though. No happy hour but the light beer on tap was like $3 anyway so not a huge deal. Steak salad & 2 beers was about $20. We had a very nice lunch here and ordered a variety of items: Grouper, Perch and a large salad. The Grouper with Parmesan topping & asparagus was nicely cooked but did not care for the parm - not crispy - didn't add to the dish. The Brussel sprouts were terrific with specks of bacon as were their baked potatoes. The side green salads were ok but the cups of potato soup topped with bits of smoky bacon were exceptional.
