I'm giving three stars because usually in all the times that my wife and I have been there, this place has been excellent. Tonight it was terrible. I don't know if they have new management, new cooks or what is going on. It took ten minutes for us to get our drinks (we ordered water), we both ordered medium rare steaks and they came out well done. My steak was so black and charred i could hardly cut into it and it smelled burnt. My wife's french onion soup came out looking like broth with no bread and hardly any cheese. The manager ended up bringing us all new food but we spent double the amount of time there, seeing people that came in after us come and go. The whole experience was very frustrating and they didn't even give us a break on our bill. I guess we will start driving to the Lucky's in Bay City if Midland's location is going to be like this now. I don't review many places because I tend not to be a complainer but we were very taken aback by our experience tonight. read more

This place has gone downhill tremendously after covid. The quality of food is terrible. I believe the owner decided to buy from cheaper vendors as the price of meat and fish and other things increased. Heck, even the delicious bread from years ago is changed and is just ok. If you are going for steak chicken or seafood just go elsewhere. About the only things worth the price are the happy hour food choices and even they are bland GFS type food. We took our mom to the Midland location today for her 80th. The cleaning spray smell was overpowering. Of 5 meals, 4 were not good at all. Burger was way undercooked. Lettuce was brown and the fries were wilty. Madelions were actually a piece of steak they cut into pieces. The coconut shrimp were tough rubber And worst was mom's prime rib. I don't eat steak and this is my favorite steakhouse. Because their pecan crusted chicken salad with blue cheese, pecans, and all kinds of other goodies is enough for three meals and to die for. And of course the garlic bread. How to describe the garlic bread? Just crusty, garlicky, buttery ecstasy. And all you want. Save up all your weight watcher points for a week and then splurge. The wait staff is always happy to oblige whatever iteration you want of this dish. More of this less of that always with a smile. Stay as long as you want. Been coming here every day this week since I'm in town for a local Church Leadership meeting and I have to say the service has been great. Even though they are struggling with the lack of help the staff is doing all they can to make sure you are in the know. The salads are amazing and everyone loves the cheesecake. My mother and I both ordered take out. We were tired and hungry and didn't want to have to think too hard about dinner, so to get something sure to be of high quality we ordered the lobster tail and I got a "prime rib". This restaurant clearly saves the worst portions for those who are foolish enough to order takeout, because you can't send it back to the kitchen. My salad was acceptable, but the croutons were oddly soft and chewy. The "prime rib", despite costing $28.00 was thin, dry, and came with no au jus. So it didn't taste like prime rib. It was more of a large pork chop that was completely dried out and hard. It was horrible. The Lobster tail tasted ok and was cooked well, but they didn't include any melted butter so again it was like only having half of the entree. My mother ordered the blackened mahi mahi and said that it was good, but she thinks she was given salmon instead. I will never ever order from this restaurant again. read more

We stopped by this chain restaurant in midland after a long RV trip. It was pretty busy, which was reflected in our service. We were seated right away due to our reservation, but only received our ice waters upon order. The bread, I must say, was scrumptious. It went downhill from there. We ordered our meals, and after that it took another 45 minutes to receive our cessation salads, which for the record, HAD NO CROUTONS. I was disappointed to say the least. When our meals finally arrived, I was confused. I look down at my 7oz steak, and to my surprise it was MARINATING in a puddle of juice and oil blend. IM SORRY- did I order SOUP with my steak?! No, no I didn't. The mashed potatoes had a hint of a chemical taste- which paired great with my over carbonated Shirley temple. After chewing my steak, my jaw was comparable to that of Angelina Jolie's. The waitress was nice, however overall the service and food was not. The three stars was generous. read more

We have visited the Bay City location at least 20x and never come away disappointed. The same can't be said for the Midland restaurant. 1. Asked for dressing on the side, would have returned it but given the half ripe tomatoes and at some point frozen cucumber, and our waitress not returning didn't bother. 2. Filet medallions with shrimp scampi was a joke. Asked for them to be done medium. As you can see they ran the gambit. First one was rare, last one was a puck. I'm sure this had everything to do with the thickness. An expeditor brought it meal and left. Still no waitress. 3. Shrimp scampi was a deep fried shrimp plopped on top of each medallion and some cream sauce thrown on top. The breading was falling off due to the wetness. Finally, after 10 minutes of receiving our meal our waitress returned. The mashed potatoes were so dry, you needed the butter from the bread to make them edible. We were out celebrating our last mortgage payment and we're looking forward to a lovely meal. As I looked around and saw many people ordering burgers, it dawned on me that this is no longer a steak house but quite possibly a pub. They did comp my meal, but the manager stood several feet away arranging tables and never came to speak with us??? read more

i made a reservation a week ahead at the Midland, Mi Lucky's for 12 people for a family get together. When we arrived they didn't have our reservation and acted like we didn't make one, then they said the manager that took it didn't write it down and she didn't work there anymore. They were busy but asked us to wait a short time for a table to put together, but in the mean time several people came in that they set at tables. Nobody even apologized to us for the mix-up and they didn't seem interested enough to accommodate us, So we had to call around and Boston Restaurant was more than willing to accommodate us and we got us in right away. I think your staff needs some training on handling reservations and try to make amends some how. My husband and I go there to eat all the time, but I don't feel good about going there anymore. read more

My elderly parents couldn't hear anything we were saying so we couldn't visit. This was at 5:45, not closing time. In town for business. While this establishment is nicer looking than it's sister in Bay City, the food isn't as good in my honest opinion. I visited twice over a period of two weeks and I'm just not impressed with the quality of their steaks. I tried the ribeye on one night and a filet on the other. The ribeye was tough and fattier than what can normally be found at other steakhouses. When I had the filet, it tasted as if it was cooked on a dirty grill with bits and pieces of charred remains from prior cooks accumulated on my steak. One would hope that the grill chef would scrape the grill in between one steak to the next. After two disappointing visits, I don't think I'll risk being disappointed again upon return visits to Midland. Two stars because the waitstaff were pleasant and helpful. read more

Was a very big fan of Lucky's steakhouse growing up so I thought it was a no-brainer of a nice place to go. I ordered the filet with fries and a salad. The salad was disappointing - in fact I wish I got lettuce with all the dressing they gave me. Fries were just fries, just wish they didn't taste like they were microwaved. The filet is the reason I wanted to write this review though, for a 28$ dish make sure not to ask for medium because you'll get raw. The plate was flooded in juice and still far from tender. We used to like going to Lucky's and the food was good, especially for the prices. However, the last two times we ate there, the food was not very good at all. Four of us ate and nobody liked their meal. One had to send back their fillet because it was still alive. When it came back it was dry and tough and we questioned whether it was a fillet. It appeared more like sirloin. I had the blackened mahi mahi and it was way overcooked and dry. The drinks were even less than desirable. The server tried to make things better but was inexperienced or just not very good. The tables are way too close together and it is hard to feel like you have any privacy. We love Lucky's but lately it hasn't been the greatest. Who's ever in the kitchen needs to go back to reading the recipes because there has been way too much salt added to the food. I get why restaurants add more salt but, when the food has to be choked down because there's way too much salt it's not good. Please cut back on the salt!! read more

Have been there several times, and the food is always great! I recommend you try the salmon, any of the salads and the carrot cake is fantastic (and huge)! Appetizers I have tried (and love) are the stuffed mushroom caps and calamari! Also, their baked potato is "killer"! For the quality of the food, the prices are surprisingly good, too! Typically, I enjoy going to Lucky's. They have really good food and the staff is very friendly. However, this review is not a 5-Star for multiple reasons. The experience we had this week was not well. I called to make a 14 person reservation (this hasn't been an issue in making reservations previously). When I called, they had just opened for the day. I spoke with a younger employee who told me, "I'll ask the manager but usually we require 24-hour advance notice for reservations." Once he asked the manager, returned to the phone and said, "Yeah, the manager said we can't make your reservation for this evening...even though it is a Monday and Monday's are our slower day of the week, we only have one reservation right now, but we still can't make a reservation for you. I'd recommend calling back this afternoon and let them [the hostess] know you'll be coming in with a large group and they should be able to accommodate you." I informed the employee, "I've made reservations similar to this in the past and it has never been an issue. Did something change?" He replied with, "yes, it changed." So, I called back at 4 pm that afternoon and spoke to a different person stating, "I called earlier and whoever I spoke with wouldn't make a reservation but we have a group coming in at 6:30 pm for dinner of 14 people." Her response was, "Okay, I'll let the hostess know," then hung up the phone. I arrived early to ensure we could get a table; I did notice that "group of 14" was written down by the hostess. Upon arrival, the employee seating guests stated, "we have people at the party tables right now so soon as they are done we can seat you. It will be 20-25 minutes." My thought was, "alright, well good thing I came early so by the time the rest of our dinner group arrives we can be seated." Our complete group all arrived by 6:35 pm. I had been waiting ~20 minutes thus far; we did not get seated until 6:55 pm. The waitress was friendly and professional. We didn't leave the restaurant until nearly 8:40 pm!! That is over 2 hours from when I arrived. Another note - I ordered the Parmesan Chicken. This is my favorite dish at Lucky's. Never have an issue with it...except for today. When it came out it wasn't breaded and had a different taste that usual. The green beans were stringy and not fully cooked. It was very disappointing. In Summary: The people I spoke with on the phone were not very helpful, didn't seem to want to help, were a little rude in their tone. The food was disappointing. Had a longer wait time when we were told 20-25 minutes. Not a good experience this time. read more

The biggest thing saving this is Jessica, our waitress! She was top notch, brought a good vide, and was always at the table making sure we were taken care of. I didn't wait a second for a new beer! Chicken tenders were a little dry but was made up with the great honey mustard and sweet potato fries. I had a porterhouses and asked for medium rare, it was on the edge of that and medium, lost little bit of its juice but was really good. Sautéed mushrooms were top notch! Traveled to the beautiful city of Midland and went here for dinner. I heard great things from the locals about this steakhouse so we had to check it out. First thing I noticed was there was wine on every table. Instantly sold! The table bread that was brought out was fresh and hot. Another check! I ordered the filet medallions with mashed potatoes and spinach based on a recommendation from the waiter. It wasn't a long wait, food came out piping out it was extremely good. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars because, the food wasn't as flavorful. For the amount of food we received and the pricing, couldn't beat that! Since the general manager stopped by our table and asked us to write a review, here it is. The good: We were seated quickly, and service was pretty quick for the most part. Bread & butter was brought right out. We were celebrating our anniversary, and ordered a bottle of asti spumante. It arrived quickly, and was quite cold. Salads were brought out fairly quickly. We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 came out before we finished our salads. The not so good: As I said, the asti came out quickly, but with dirty glasses. 1 appetizer came out quickly, and after about 20 minutes, we found out the other wouldn't be coming, as they were out of it. We each ordered prime rib & lobster, the lobster tails were very over-cooked. My baked potato was room temperature. Our waiter brought another 1 right out, not much warmer. I doubt it would have melted the butter. As the manager knew it was our anniversary, she offered us free desserts. nice gesture, but we didn't bother. This was our 1st visit to Lucky's, and I wish I'd taken other reviews more seriously. $100 for the 2 of us is far from our most expensive meal, but it's not cheap either. The food overall at the Midland's Lucky's is pretty good. In particular my husband and I love the stuffed grouper. We also love the firecracker shrimp and so much so that we will eat it as a dinner. It is sold as an appetizer. The reason a four star is that this restaurant shows "no consistency" in the sauce that goes on it which is what makes this dish!! We like the sauce so much that sometimes we ask them to replace the lobster sauce that comes on the stuffed grouper with it. They rarely make it correctly anymore & it truly in our opinion "WAS" the best dish on their menu. If I want it made right then I have to go to Bay City's restaurant as apparently they get it right every time!! We just visited Midland's restaurant today & had the same bad experience with the sauce. We reported to our waitress whom said she will pass it onto the manager. At this point we have been disappointed enough on this dish there that I'm going up the ladder to corporate & reporting the problem. The firecracker sauce we received taste no different than the lobster sauce & that needs to get fixed as the dish just isn't the same!! This isn't a high-end restaurant so anyone reviewing based off that will be disappointed. It's a chain steakhouse that's throughout Michigan. The menu is huge. It gets surprisingly busy. But instead of a closed-in feel like a lot of steakhouses, Lucky's has a lighter feel to it. There's seating outside near a decent bar area with the sit-down, nicer section on the other side. The prices are good. The service is fine... but has to work out some kinks since it's still new. As with a lot of steakhouses, the portions are large. Meals come with bread, which may have been the best part of the meal. A lot of my table went with fish options and I'm not sure I ate real flounder. But whatever. It's a steakhouse in the middle of Michigan. A lot of their meals came with tons of sauce, which overtook a lot of the protein's flavor. The food is fine and probably not four stars, but comparing to other steakhouses, this Lucky's has a cleaner feel to it with the patio and bar areas. I'd say this spot is best for groups because the food isn't something you need to enjoy in an intimate setting. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in midland. Sometimes the service is less than acceptable but the food is good so we keep going back. We do have a favorite server Donald that always does an amazing job. The sirloin and lobster are my favorite. The last time I ordered to go the lobster was gross and unedible but it's usually good so we'll try it again. read more
