Food was and is usually always great but it would've been better if our waitress Robin wasnt nodding off. Her eyes were extremely red and glossy, pinned pupils, you know the whole 9. We ate in the restaurant first, having a few slices, which were great. Next, we ordered for delivery to our hotel. The guy didn't want to get out of the car!!! Like I'm gonna go outside in the rain?? Next delivery was a pizza. Took an hour rather than 45 min. Pizza was cold and crust was hard. Worst part was the delivery woman hiked the price from $17.50 to $18.00. When I mentioned it, she said, We always round up. In my 60 years, I've never heard of such a thing. I might go to the restaurant again, but will never order delivery from them again. read more

There are few times in ones life when you meet a inbred Sicilian of Albanian extraction. The Unibrow is just an example of the unkempt and unclean appearance of the coowner of this so called Italian restaurant who claims that the fine dining experience of his eatery requires at least two hours of waiting. The openers were Pasta Fagioli which was brought out 15 minutes we ordered it. Salads followed but our appetizers never made it and 48 minutes later I demanded that we have the food delivered. The ink brow at the counter is not only rude but the waitress complained to me that he is constantly sexually harassing her. Pitiful. I left my number for a call from the other coowner but it never came. This place should not even be open. read more

Let's start with the pizza, it is amazing! This I cannot deny. My wife and I stopped into their shop on the boardwalk and being a pizza snob I was impressed and satisfied with their huge slices. I was also impressed with their courteous service. So much so that we took a menu back to our hotel. Later the same evening I ordered a pizza to our hotel and this is why the one star. It never came, plain and simple. No phone call, nothing. We are two blocks away and we were told 45 min. At 1 hr 15 min I was going to check the temp of the pizza before accepting delivery but I never had the opportunity. We often eat here and their marinara sauce with basil and garlic is the best in NJ and NY! Meatballs have great flavor, all their selections are delicious. The dining room is beautiful for a pizzeria and spacious. Prices are reasonable and byob makes for an affordable Sunday dinner. Staff is friendly, service great. The food was excellent. The prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was really pleasant--quiet and casual. Our large group was seated and served promptly. Questions about ingredients were no problem. We had a small child with us, and the waitress was so sweet with her, even giving her a lollipop at the end of the meal with a little note. Our group had panini sandwiches and salads. The salads were excellent, and the paninis looked fantastic. (I wished I had asked to taste one of them!) We also got some garlic bread, and it was delicious. The portions were generous, too. I use to really love Luigi's but the past few experiences have been less than tolerable. The food is good, but the service is AWFUL! My last delivery order was over an hour late and stone cold when it arrived. Promise time 45min - 1 hour Delivery time 2 HOURS! I called to complain and I get yelled at by the owner that he is short staffed and if I don't want it he'll call the driver back - the same driver that took 2 hours to drive 3 miles to my house, and keep our order in her trunk in 20° weather. Best pizza in the area! There is always a good selection of at least 10 different pizzas every time I go there. The place is always busy and the great pizza is the reason why. My friend bought us gift certificates at restaurant.com which Luigis says they decided to stop accepting.The gift certificate states it never expires. Only reason we set foot in this place was the gift certficates. You're only as good as your word or your food in this case and they both are aweful. There was no sign on the front door which the waitstaff suggested he posted stating they no longer accept the Restaurant.com certificates. The wait staff admits certificates are valid and are upset they have to explain why their boss no longer accepts the certificates. The sicilian pizza is like matza bread. All the chicken and veal dinners are $20. completely different from what their website states. If only the owner put as much energy into the food and restaurant as it's website maybe the restaurant wouldn't be empty on a weekend. I don't know who they paid for the other reviews but they haven't eaten real pizza! Maybe they should eat at Brothers in East Brunswick on Route 18. I'd give no stars but it's not an option! I don't know where even begin. I walked into luigis a year ago with my son. Luigis had just opened for the day. The owner or cook (still don't know) hadn't made all of the pizzas in the display cabinet. I asked for 3 slices and the girl said they need a few more minutes. She said the owner was going to be mad. The owner/cook came out of the kitchen swearing. My son was 3 years old. I walked out and vowed I would never return. My wife convinced me to give luigis another shot because they deliver and they are close. Today (11/2/2014) we called in a delivery. We ordered a plain pizza and next a pizza with penne and vodka. The guy/owner/or cook says "vodka pizza? What is that? We donta maka thata shit here!!" I said excuse me sir I order it all the time. He says "what do you think this place is?" He was swearing. I had him on speaker phone. My inlaws were appalled. We will never ever go back. They lost a lot of business today. I hit the 1 star button by accident but they don't even deserve that!! read more

I had my family over for fun in the sun on Sunday. After the beach, we wanted to provide everyone with a quick meal as they wanted to get on their way and try to beat some of the traffic. We ordered a pie, two chicken rolls and a baked ziti at 5:15 for delivery. We live literally 5 minutes away by car. We were promised dinner would arrive at 6:00. 6:30 came and we were still waiting. We called and were told that the order just left. At 7:00 the food still wasn't here. We called again. They said it just left. How did it just leave twice? The food got to at 7:30 a full 2 hours and 15 minutes after we ordered it. The delivery woman was nasty. The food was meh. The pizza was salty. The chicken rolls were pretty good and the ziti was just not good. We should have went to a local restaurant. My family would have been on the way home before this meal even arrived. read more

I am gluten intolerant and I've tried a lot of the area pizza places that have gluten-free pizzas on their menu. Luigi's is by far one of the best in the area. Most importantly the dough is cooked all the way through to the center with some really tasty sauce. They could probably ease up the cheese a little bit but I think that's just a personal preference. We ordered 2 personal sized pizzas. One gluten free which was mediocre. The other a regular with pepperoni. When my husband went to pick them up he observed the cook struggling to get it off the pan. The cook ended up throwing it away. Without saying anything he put a PLAIN pizza in a box and that's what we got. We were still charged for pepperoni. When I called to complain they were totally unprofessional. Even if both our pizzas were good (which they were not!). I would not patronize such an unprofessional business. read more

The pizza here is good. Not anything unique - but good solid pizza in all of the variety that you are used to seeing in Jersey (standard, gourmet etc). I have ordered pizza here a few times and it has been very reliable. However, tonight I tried ordering off of the "entree" menu for a change. The menu is standard Italian Fare that you would expect at any pizzaria/restaurant in NJ. We ordered the Eggplant Rollentini appetizer and the Broccoli Rabe with Sausage over Penne entre. The eggplant was good - like the pizza it was not unique but it was a good solid eggplant rollentini appy. The Broccoli Rabe with Sausage pasta, however, was terrible. I do not use that term often - but this dish was literally un-edible. The broccoli rabe was very under cooked..so we almost couldn't bite through it and it was VERY bitter. And there was literally ZERO seasoning on it - none (not even salt). It seemed like they just forgot to season it. We picked out some of the pasta and sausage because we were hungry and then threw out the rest. I was hungry and never waste food...but after a couple of bites of the broccoli we tossed almost the entire dish. The side salad was some iceburg lettuce, 2 carrots and 3 green olives. I asked for balsamic vinagrette dressing and they gave me a small cup of vinegar. I am not a harsh critic of food but I'm writing this in the hopes that I spare you the same experience. Who knows, maybe they were having an off night...I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt. My advice: Stick to the pizza and mozzerella sticks. Steer clear of the pasta dishes and entres. read more

I think the food here is tasteless . I had the fettuccini Alfredo and it tasted like half and half . I couldn't taste the cheese and if was very watery. The chicken ravella is delicious. It was a very generous amount of chicken with Asparagas, roasted red peppers and mozzarella cheese in Marsala sauce. My daughter's buffalo chicken salad was too hot for her so she ordered a slice of pizza. I was pleasantly surprised not to be charged for it since it was a matter of taste. At least once every year I do a day trip to Ocean Grove and on the way home I stop here for pizza. I find the prices reasonable and I like the food. This pizza was extremely delicious and very stylish because of the rectangular shape.The sauce was very homemade and had a perfect blend of spices that were sort of unfamiliar.The crust was so crunchy but had the perfect softness that could make you think you were floating on a cloud. I stood right in front of the counter and he looked right past me and proceeded to take the order of a customer that was behind me. I was shocked by his treatment and left.
