Really content with this Clinton Hill pizza joint. As the reviews state, it's small & has no seating. But this is pizza, if your'e looking for atmosphere at a pizzeria & deducting stars because they can't sit you, then you're dimwitted. Luigi's makes a damn near perfect pizza. Not artisanal but definitely not generic, Luigi's has quality ingredients which are proportionally spread across the pizza. I watched the dudes behind the counter slowly drizzle sauce over the pizza, which instantly made me appreciate the attention to detail and relief that I wasn't being served an oily glob pie. Definitely favor their margherita pizza & my girlfriend loved their Buffalo chicken pizza. Sure I don't know if traveling across boroughs for Luigi's is necessary, considering gentrification has given us so many great joints in the almost every neighborhood, but this place is fantastic for the area and if it was outside of NY it would be renown. I love Nice on Franklin, but must admit Luigi's crust is superior. Wish they delivered, but I'm up for walking for my food. read more

Good cheap pizza. I went here in the morning, eating pizza as my breakfast. Yes, I know that's not healthy. Anyway, got there at around 11:10 and it was fairly cold outside. They were just opening up then and by 11:15 I was inside (It was a really cold day, and the ovens were awesome at heating up the room). There isn't place to sit down, and they have a small counter that can maybe have 4-5 people max. I thought my pizza was a little bit undercooked which might have been because it was the first pizza cooked. Still not bad pizza though, NY definitely has more expensive that is worse. Both the workers were really cool, I think they moved to the US like 20 years back. When I was looking for change for the tax, the cashier was like don't worry about it, which was awesome. read more

From hobbyists to professionals, I was impressed and in awe of how much handcraft is still relevant in the glass industry. Even though almost everything is automated and mass manufactured, I witnessed a dying craft. It seems that even the glass industry is influenced by the algorithm of the internet. Most of the Masters seem to be confined by their client's needs and designs, which are catered to earn money as much as they can and as fast as they can. I think the glassblowing industry is a beautiful niche for artists like me to do something for themselves, while still being financially sensible. It seems that trends are slowly taking away that freedom. However, it was the community within the glass shop and the energising atmosphere that caught my attention. Overall, an eye-opening experience, and hopefully I can find my way to this niche. read more

My friend and I were roaming Brooklyn. We stumbled upon this gem while walking to the diner. Nice little spot. Grab and Go type of spot. The pizza was fresh with a great crust! I'm kind of obsessive about pizza, and this place is my favorite, not just in NYC, but anywhere. The crust is perfect; slightly chewy, not thick and doughy, not greasy. The cheese and sauce are so good you don't really notice them. Basically, it's the pizza they would give you in pizza utopia. I can't vouch for when the pizzas have been sitting out for a few hours, but when they're fresh, they are perfect. By the way, I'm only referring to the plain regular slice. The other toppings are also amazing, but this is one of those places where the crust and cheese are so good, it's best to get plain. I have to give these guys their credit - I am in love with their pizza. Like, stupendously in love with it. I have done the Grimaldi's experience, been smushed against the wall in Lombardi's and had countless other tastes of pie (Patsy's, Artichoke, et al) but I can't stop thinking about this one. It reminds me of a Honda I had once, truth be told. There may be things that are flashier, or faster, or that handled better, but nothing was so all around good at EVERYTHING as that little car. Luigi's pizza makes me think of that sometimes; sure there are pizzas with a slightly better crust (I''m sure they're out there) and with a bit better sauce (Grimaldi's comes to mind) but NOBODY does everything so right together the way these guys do. I went in here during the Snowstorm of Death 2010 while I was in the neighborhood running an errand, and just wound up hanging out and chatting with them; they knew almost everyone that came in and spent an hour just cutting up with people and having a good time. Oh Luigi's, you fed me and all my friends through our college days! And how! All through college and since I moved back to the 'hood, Luigi's has kept me alive with their cheap delicious slices. How I'm not morbidly obese, I have no idea. They've recently added new toppings like pesto and tomato basil to boot! I've been going to Luigi's for 5 years now, and they've ruined me! Easily one of the best quick cheap slices in the city, thin crisp crust, luscious sauce, gooey cheese, all the building blocks of a slice in perfect proportion. What more can you ask for? There's no seating area so more of a grab and go kinda place, great for a quick one for while running around or between classes. You can also call in an order and pick it up, which is perfect in the summer. I love getting a large pepperoni pie with garlic and a bottle of white from Tipsy and hiding with em on the roof of my apartment building in the sun. I really don't truck with the haters here. Don't rate it like a sitdown restaurant. It's a place where you walk up and get your slice. If the slice is good, they're doing their job. It's a very good slice. They're doing a very good job. Simply, it's a very good New York slice. Thin but strong crust (not the ultra-thin brittle shit you get some places), flavorful and plentiful sauce, flavorful cheese, a little salty, greasy, that good texture, not too stringy, not too firm. What do you want? Some other shit? Go somewhere else. They always got fresh-out-the-oven cheese pies, they got stuff with toppings too. Good white pizza if you're into that, but they got good sauce. They got good sicilian. Got a Hawaiian pie, too, if you want something heavier. Lot of options. Kind of expensive at $2.75, not gonna break the bank though. They got Pepsi instead of Coke, but I'm not gonna downgrade them over something petty like that. And I read some of these reviews - it's not just about Pratt students. I'm not even fully sure what Pratt is - some kind of art school, that's for sure, but do they have a college? Undergrad? What kinds of art do they do? How many Pratt kids are there?
