Came here because it was one of the most popular restaurants in town on Yelp. It was by no means a bad experience, but we left feeling that the city surely has more special things to offer. They have some great happy hour deals including half-off oysters and drinks. The menu itself is somewhat limited, it seems their specialty is the raw bar. The LA Gulf Oysters are very large and meaty. Some of the largest I've ever seen, so be aware. The Rabbit and Chicken Pate was too salty, you can only use a very small amount on a piece of toast. Quaint place. Cozy and perfect for escaping the rain we had. We ate a late lunch after checking in. We started with the bbq oysters and they were devine! I had the jumbo gulf shrimp & grits and it was delicious (see photo) my husband had the red beans and rice and it can really satisfy you. It's like three meals in one! Had a late lunch at Luke's. Nice place, older building and smells a bit musty but there was a quite a rainfall past few days. They offer Happy Hour 3p-6p with 1/2dozen fried oysters for 12$, 1/2 off specialty cocktails, wines and beer. Of course we had fried oysters which were nice crunchy and plump, decent size too, they come with tangy remoulade. Tried their crispy veal sweetbreads - not a fan, they were crispy but dense and a bit chewy. Their Rabbit and Chicken livers pate board was nicely paired with pickled cucumbers, giardiniera veggies and pepper relish with grilled bread. We enjoyed this very much. Do not order their focaccia bread - it's quite small and securely not focaccia - underbaked and chewy no herbs, they need to change their recipe lol Cocktails were pretty good especially door #3 if you like sweet and tangy. Attitude adjustment was meh more like aperol spritz with orange taste I didn't really taste passion fruit. I was elated to give this a try and walked a good distance in the crowds after getting off the airplane for this suggested establishment. So to start, no small feat. The host was quiet and helpful, but not overly excited and happy to be there. The service was not as great as I had hoped. We were greeted by a gentleman who introduced himself an another that they both would be taking care of us and served some water. I told him it was my mother's bday and we are happy to be joining them. I never saw him again. Another server came over about 10 min later to take our drink order. I ordered a French 75 and my mother iced tea. Few moments later we flagged our server over to order some food- we ordered the bread, scallop, tuna tartare, beet salad, and steak frites. Our drinks have still not come to the table-then in a few minutes and the appetizers were already placed. Shortly after that- My mother got her tea, still no French 75. We finished the apps and still no drink for me. And our server was avoiding us. The ambiance was loud, as it should be for Mardi Gras, and it wasn't nearly as busy as I had thought it should be. Half of the dining room was filled up- and about the same for the bar. The parade outside looked like more fun than what was happening inside here for me. Food was pretty spot on for what I expected so that was a great place to start. But I pretty much had to hold the servers hand to get anything from him. I tried to hand him my AmEx like 3x. Couldn't connect at all. With a smile on my face I thanked him anyway and we headed out fast. Such a gem of a restaurant! We had dinner at Luke's from a recommendation of a local and we couldn't have been happier! The restaurant was beautiful, casual, and had various rooms. The entire staff from hostess, managers, waiters and bussers were extremely friendly and upbeat. I had the pork snitzel, which was gigantic'. I could only eat half of it, but it was absolutely delicious, it did have a bit of a heat kick to it; which I enjoyed. The smoked trout fish dip was delightful as it came with homemade saltines. I want a box of just the crackers alone!' My friend had the escargot and bone marrow and she raved about it - not my cup of tea. The best for last... the bread pudding -- hands down the best one I've ever had. It comes a la mode and with a syrup that is warm. Excellent! I came here for lunch before I left for the airport and had the lunch special, which was a cup of gumbo or salad with the entree of the day which was a crispy shrimp po boy. I had the gumbo and it was the best I had on this trip. The po boy was huge and very tasty, with tomatoes and thinly sliced cucumbers, and a delicious aoli sauce. I couldn't eat 1/2 of it, but I boxed it up. Can't let good shrimp go to waste! Service by Corey was excellent too. He was very attentive and made great recommendations. Making a reservation for Luke is super easy! I was able to make a reservation for our group of 6 with ease on the Opentable app. They have a nice happy hour special from 3-6 with deals on oysters and wine/beer. The space is nice but it did feel crowded. I ended up going with the raw oyster happy hour special and a salad. The salad was SO GOOD! I could eat that everyday. I also really liked the oysters. I went to this restaurant several times on different occasions, always loved it . saturday , august 8 th was a sad experience , especially with it being a high end restaurant. we were there to celebrate my husband bday, . the restaurant was not that busy , several tables were empty the time we were there. the female server was just ok . ordered a bottle of champagne , she only filled the glass once , the rest of the meal i help myself. when you need to reset your table for the next course, you just do not have the silverware in your end , have a plate .her enthusiasm was lacking , feeling we were bothering !!!! my husband is allergic to shrimp, crab, crawfish, lobster, scallops. we mentioned this allergy to our server. my husband ordered the mussels and fries. apparently that was safe . when the dish arrived my husband smell the dish and had a doubt about the broth . we asked again if that was safe for him to eat. server went to the kitchen and asked and came back with a negative answer, NO!!!! yes we gave a bit over 20% gratuity in cash. in my opinion I would only gave 15 % before taxes... so your staff is lacking education or does not care, which one is it? dessert were served , no spoon , no fork , we have to flag someone !!! while i still find the restaurant interesting , it will no longer be at the top of my list to visit read more

So first I need to apologize to this very good restaurant: I prejudged you as poor because you're a hotel restaurant and boy, was I proven wrong! I had the shrimp, sausage and grits. The grits were perfect. Creamy and cheesy and delicious. My Aunt Jan made bbq shrimp this way! The shrimp were large, plentiful and cooked perfectly tender. The standout of the meal was the 1/2 chicken dinner my friend had. I've never eaten chicken that tender and well seasoned. The bread pudding was okay- I like mine with more sauce and less chewy bread, but this is a preference thing, not a problem with the product-- their homemade ice cream was fabulous. Like worth stopping for the ice cream alone kind of good. It was busy, but not packed, on a Friday evening 5-6:30. This isn't some historic place, but it is nice for a business dinner or after work for sure- I really got the impression we were amongst locals. I was visiting NOLA for the first time and came across this place on yelp. As a vegetarian, there wasn't much that I could eat but I viewed the menu ahead of time and thought that the cheesy jalapeño grits looked yummy. When I stepped inside, the place looked pretty upscale, and it seemed like they only served a specific population, but my server changed those vibes and was very accommodating towards me. As someone who has a smaller stomach and was sampling different foods on my trip, I thought I would be judged for only ordering a side dish, but it was just right for me. Luke was about 10 minutes from the Canal Street Marriott walking, which we achieved and entered the restaurant before the rains came quickly. When we entered we walked into a classy high-ceilinged room with gold ceilings, rich mahogany panels and trim, and hazy circular light covers. The ambiance had a very 30s-style that works very well for when you're going to enjoy seafood, which we did. The one downside to the evening was the slowness in service, mostly from the kitchen, in getting our food over, which I couldn't tell at first if it was just our server or the kitchen. We did receive a drinks in reasonable time, but overall, I felt we waited a bit to give additional orders and receive them. Outside of that, the cocktails were strong but not overly boozy in taste. Cocktails like the CBD and Trigger Warning packed quite a punch to where you knew you could sip them and still have a good buzz as you received your food. The LA Gulf Oysters were fresh and savory, served with a strong horseradish that was certainly stronger than I anticipated. Any congestion that I may have had in my nasal cavity was cleared out immediately... and then some. The crispy brussels sprouts was solid with the Espelette honey and fresh cheese, while I absolutely savored the escargot and bone marrow with the roasted garlic. For the finisher, the jumbo Louisiana Shrimp and Grits were zesty and tantalizing and especially rich, served with roasted jalapeno cheese grits and andouille, green onion sausage that didn't have too much of a bite but plenty of flavor. Luke is attached to the Hilton. A very trendy, vibrant, busy gourmet room. Not your typical hotel restaurant, but then not much in NOLA is typical! Luke is a great place to come if you're an oyster lover. If you're not, there are certainly other options. One of my personal favorites is the smoked trout dip which comes with bacon fat saltines which is amazing. They have a daily happy hour from 3:00-6:00 which is a big draw which includes drinks and raw gulf oysters for $1.50 each. The restaurant has a clean and contemporary look, but can get busy rather quickly as it's in the central business district. This sometimes can affect the timeliness of service which has been my only issue, but hasn't stopped me from going back. read more

It seems like alot of people come here for HH, because almost every table we walked past had huge trays of raw oysters. We ordered 2 dozen raw oysters to start, 1 bbq oysters, shrimp & grits, seafood bouillabaisse, and gumbo. The raw oysters are served first, and they give you a large mix of very large and small oysters. The oysters are delicious!!! They are super fresh and yummy. The seafood bouillabaisse was great! I loved the flavor and could easily have ordered more bread to eat with it. I loved how cheesey the shrimp & grits were, each bite was smothered in cheese. The gumbo was also great as well. The bbq oysters here are their take on chargrilled oysters, they are on the sweeter side and have panko crumbs.
