What happened? Spicy chicken sandwich came out cold. Ordered smoked wings, bartender said 15 minutes and after half an hour they never came. Both specials were no longer on the menu. From the car it appeared Kitchen was unorganized. The vegetable of the day is alway broccoli, because according to the waiter it's the cheapest for the restaurant. It's too bad. We are from Houston and we used to love this place. Nearby Wayne's is the best bbq in Colorado, but only open for lunch. From what I can tell Louisville/Lafayette has too many restaurants. It had been a few years since I had been to Lulu's, and though some things have changed, I can honestly say I'm still a fan. Still solid BBQ. Gone are the kobe beef ribs I believe, which is too bad, but their brisket is still smokey and usually moist (sometimes a slice can be a little dry, but still tender and good flavor) and their sausage is superb - spice but not overly so. They now have burnt ends, which could be a little more burnt, but damn they are tasty and meet that "meat candy" standard that I look for (melt in your mouth smokey fat that's not gristle). Nothing really needs any sauce, which is a good sign, but their Carolina style sauce is hard not to consume it's so good. I wish they bottled this - it would be my go-to sauce. Before I found their sides a little bland, but no longer. Their mac 'n cheese is amazing: gooey with a little seasoning that goes a long way. I think they use the same cheese sauce for their sweet potato tots app, which are also crazy addicting. I also recommend the cinnamon butter cornbread. Still no Lone Star (boo), but definitely still slinging out some tasty BBQ and sides, which is most important. read more

This place is the best BBQ in the Louisville Lafayette area and honestly beats most places in Boulder. Fried pickles rival for the top spot of best I have ever had and I order friend pickles on every menu I see them. The two meats plate with ribs and brisket is basically your only play here if you're serious about meat. I mix all three sauces and go to town on the meats. Top sides are the beans, the brocolli when they have it, and the fried okra. If you're getting fried pickles as an opener don't get the okra as they're pretty similar. Best drink is the Texas slushy - frozen margarita and a lager together on a hot day, nothing better read more

Oh my gooooooosh I love this place! Having moved here from Oklahoma, my fiancé and I were desperately searching for good BBQ. We were walking through Louisville and thought Lulu's looked cute, so we stopped in - thank god we did. The food is YUM. Our personal favorites are the pulled pork, brisket, macaroni and cheese, and mashed potatoes. We also get the nacho appetizer every time and it is so freakin good - jalapeños for DAYS. The service is good and the prices are reasonable. Also, the outdoor patio, multiple TVs, and cornhole games out back make this a generally cool place to go. I'm a KCBS Certified BBQ Judge, so for any bbq place, the meat is make-or-break, and it's great here. (I most often get the beef brisket.) The sides, such as cornbread, are very good as well. What makes it 5-stars is what Lulu's offers beyond that, with a wide beer selection and memorable indoor & outdoor environments. We were feeling BBQ and saw this spot, I was drawn by the BBQ aroma wafting around the area. This is a good family location, atmosphere is loud, and not super formal. The food and sides were all good. My favorite items were the Brisket Nachos, which my cousin got, and the Brisket Sandwich which I got. The portions are plenty big, so you will leave full. Every table has 3 BBQ sauce options, which I liked. I suggest going with one of their beers, we went with the Saturday margaritas special ($6) and found them to be nothing amazing - average. They did have a good variety of beers. They have a few televisions around the restaurant which helped with my weekend sport watching habit. You can eat inside or outside, it was a fun atmosphere, but I was not blow away, hence my 'a-ok' grade. I LOVE spicy barbeque! This place has it in spades! Hubby and I stopped here for dinner... but we weren't too hungry so we got sandwiches. I ordered the "hot mess" and hubby ordered the spicy chicken. nom nom nom.... I loved mine. It was juicy, spicy, and had this great slaw on it. mwaaaah.... I'm still thinking about it days later! Hubby liked his spicy chicken... but he could only eat part of it because it was too spicy for him. I cannot get enough of LuLu's BBQ. If anyone wants to get some dinner here and would like company - give me a call. I'm always down for their smoked meat. I prefer the plates - not the sandwiches. I don't want to waste all that room in my tummy with bread when I could fill it up with their fantastic bbq. I am addicted to the sweet potato tots... but recently had the friend okra and it was outstanding! It may be my new obsession. The ribs and burnt ends have really impressed me at Lulu's. Being from KC and growing up on bbq I have a pretty good understand of what ribs should taste like and the quality of the meat. So I try BBQ wherever I travel and have tried all the BBQ joints in the Denver area. Or I at least I thought I had. A friend invited me to Lulu's and I am very happy I went. The brisket was some of the best brisket I have had and certainly the best in CO. I would compare it to the brisket I found at the best places in Texas and that indeed is a "fatty"compliment. There pork ribs were a bit peppery for my taste and I generally like a well spiced rib. I would like to try them again to see if the ribs were usually that peppery. I look forward to going back again and trying more of their meats but for now the beef brisket earns a whopping 4 stars which is high praise for BBQ. Service was also well done. read more

I pulled up after doing some work in Louisville. Now I'll start by saying that I was born and raised in Kansas City, so I have a pretty high standard for BBQ. I loved the exterior and the outdoor bar on the back, and I was in the mood for a good beer and some good BBQ...and since it was located in downtown Louisville (which is an awesome suburban downtown area by the way) I decided to try it out. All their beer is in cans which is unique, but I appreciated it. I got an Avery IPA to start the meal off. Service was fine, and the food came out pretty quick. (however I was there on a Monday evening around 6:30). Really good feel inside, very much a legitimate BBQ place with wood and aluminum everywhere. I ordered a brisket sandwich with coleslaw and beans on the side. The sandwich itself was pretty darn good. The brisket was slow-cooked and well smoked. It's texture was perfect and the burnt ends we're delicious. Their BBQ sauce was very sweet but very tasty. The sandwich itself would have gotten 4/5 stars but the sides held the meal back. The beans were not BBQ at all, they tasted more like beans you would find in a Chipotle burrito. The coleslaw was very bland with large cabbage leaves and small flavor. Overall this is a solid BBQ joint. The location is awesome in downtown Louisville, the feel inside is good, and the meat is very good. We came for late lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was poppin! Which was surprising seeing how speedy the service was. Tried the two meat plate with Burnt Ends Brisket and the Sausage. BF said the Mac & Cheese was the best he ever tasted and the BBQ beans were delish. All of their BBQ sauces were amaaaazing, especially the mild and mustard. When we were coming back from the royal gorge train ride in canon city Colorado we wanted to stop in Boulder before it got dark. We also wanted to get some good barbecue which I thought we were going to have to go back in to Denver afterwords. We made it to Boulder before dark saw the iron flats and looked for a barbecue restaurant. We found Lulu's barbecue and knew it had to be good because it said "open at 12, closes when sold out" which is an indication of a place that actually cooks the barbecue on premise. We walked into the restaurant and were immediately seated and greeted by an incredibly friendly waiter who told us all about the different beers and food we could order. My wife got the brisket sandwich and I got the barbecue sampler consisting of ribs brisket and pulled pork. The local beer was delicious but the food was absolutely wonderful. The ribs fell off the bone and were moist and flavorful the brisket was cooked long and slow so it was as tender as one could expect. And a pulled pork had an incredibly smoky flavor to it also. The platter actually has enough food for two people so I had leftovers which I was able to turn into a sandwich for the next day. Dressing for the wings were a great addition. Fried pickles, YUM! Great staff Sides honestly could use some zest (which is why I didn't do the full 5 stars). The Mac and cheese was lacking the cheesy gooeyness I look for in a BBQ joints Mac. I am thankful however that it wasn't a creamy velveeta mess. If you're going to do Mac and cheese, use real cheese pretty please, maybe bake it too? The green bean casserole was lacking in seasoning, and my husband swears they were frozen beans. The brisket was dry and under smoked. The flavor was gassy and the beef was tough. So slicing it pretty thick was not a good idea. The ribs may have been good, but it was cold and dry. Flavor was good but the rubbery texture and dry chew can't save it. The cornbread was soft but dry and greasy all at the same time. Not sure how this happens. Maybe the hot links are better. Been here a couple times - our last time had some highs and lows. Long story short, we sat on the patio - and out of nowhere my husband passed out. Thankfully he came to rather quickly - but in the 30 seconds or so when he was unconscious it was the table next to us that was responsive enough to call the paramedics. The staff did come to check on us, and we ended up going to the hospital (mostly as a precaution and to check everything out), however I was a little upset that we got our lunch (we packed it to go and ate it later in the hospital), but we got charged for the couple beers we ordered, and I barely sipped on when "the incident" occurred. Overall the service (last time and previously) was just okay - I can't imagine coming here when it's much busier.
