The location is cute and the food is good, but Tyler, our waiter, made our dining experience amazing. I've never experienced such excellent customer service before. Tyler managed to anticipate each of our needs before we even had to ask. He was super friendly and genuinely cared about providing us with the best service possible. 10/10 recommend coming here. My husband and I have been frequenting this restaurant since we moved to Redding 11 years ago. Any time we have guests we take them here. There's so much to choose from on the menu, that there's something for everyone! We have never had a bad meal! So yesterday was Christmas Day. I had cooked a huge meal for Thanksgiving and it honestly exhausted me. There's only the 2 of us, so we decided to go out for dinner. We invited a friend who has no one to spend holidays with. It's the least we can do. Any how, I highly recommend Lumberjack's special holiday menu. I had the Turkey dinner, my husband and our friend ordered the smoked ham dinner. All three of us were more than happy with our meals. The portions were very large, I took a third of mine home and had a very filling lunch the next day. The Turkey was so tender and moist, very tasty! The mashed potatoes were real, not box potatoes, the gravy was smooth and savory, the dressing was scrumptious, there were vegetables, and a very soft loaf of bread with honey butter. Pumpkin pie with whipped cream finished the meal off. It was the best meal ever! My husband and I are moving across the country in a week or so, so will not have the opportunity to eat here again. However, I thought I would leave a glowing recommendation for others. read more

The food is ok I suppose, it's Lumberjacks. The problem is the service. Too many times now I've had to walk out due to a complete disregard for my presence by the wait staff. Last time I was there the server had a 5 minute convo with her buddies while dishes stacked up at the server window getting cold. No one bothered to swing by and check if orders were up the entire time I sat there checking my email, sending a few texts out and reading a few articles. No notice of the fact that I was there at all. Never even saw the cook while I sat there apparently cloaked in invisibility. I wouldn't care once or twice, I know it's been hard for local businesses to get properly staffed lately. But this has become an obvious pattern here. Took my family out for dessert, it was horrible. Cobbler was Luke warm they offered us chocolate or strawberry ice cream for almode. When we paid the bill they asked how or food was when we said horrible they said sorry. Save your $$$ cause you will be wasting it here read more

Went in here for breakfast and was promptly greeted and seated by the host. The kitchen counter was across from our table. All staff were wearing masks except for the one young man who was placing the orders on the counter for the wait-staff to bring to tables. The guy had his mask under his chin and for some reason, no one said anything (including myself, which I'm ashamed of). This man seemed like he was probably really nice based on how he spoke to he coworkers. Literally the one person who brings everyone's food to a face-level counter right before it goes out, was enthusiastically talking, with his face inches from it. I don't understand why this is ok and I'm annoyed with myself for not saying anything. I don't care if you're vaccinated, being completely inconsiderate of others and ignoring that we are experiencing a pandemic is arrogant and ridiculous. I've been here once before for dinner and really thought their their venue, service, and pot roast dinner were great! So I figured that their breakfasts would be great, too, and probably even better. I was disappointed in the breakfast. I ordered the "Cinnabon French Toast." I expected thick sliced French toast with some goey cinnamon butter combo and a light drizzle of soft icing topping it off. I mean, what else would Cinnabon put out? But, there's no Cinnabon in Redding, so I don't think customers know better and the restaurant takes advantage of this. Because what I got, was 4 slices of thin bread dipped in an egg batter with some cinnamon and a side of maple syrup...... for $9! Somebody get these people a real Cinnabon so that they know what they're standards are! I'd give their pot roast dinner 5 stars and their breakfast 1 star, so if my elementary school math did me any good at all, I think the average score would be 3 stars. read more

We made a pitstop here before our 600 mi. drive home and it was Well Worth it. I had the cornbeef hash, eggs, and hash browns, and it was a great choice. The cornbeef hash is obviously made in house because if the delicious taste and texture. The hash browns were browned to perfection and the eggs were over-medium, just like it ordered them. (Not runny) I also shared a LARGE pancake with my partner and it was Really Good! By the way Definitely Get the sausage..... YUM! The staff and atmosphere are very friendly and the prices fair By the way You will NOT leave hungry. The portions are LARGE! Lack of equal access. My husband and I got seated and the server asked if he could move my walker. Do people really think I can be without it? What if there's a fire and I need to get out fast? Speaking of fire, this lady supervisor then came to me to tell me that she needed to move my walker because it's a fire exit concern. I told her that I always seat there and I have always seen one, even two walkers, (not TWD walkers) in that area when I come in. It's the closest to the bathroom and people with walkers have issues walking far (duh!) When I again said no, she said they had to move us, so they moved all our stuff to the back area with all the other disabled people, even though there was even less room to walk through. So the place where we first sat had more walking room than the one I got moved to, but that was for fire safety? That idiotic supervisor must think I'm dumb. I guess she will learn now because I'm going to make a point to stop and run in every time I'm in town to see that nobody with a walker or a high chair is sitting there, as they block the path, according to them. We planned to stay over night in Redding during a road trip and decided to eat here for dinner. I got the roasted turkey dinner and it was absolutely perfect ! I love that they make their bread rolls homemade. They have quite the variety of craft beers as well . I will definitely eat here again if ever passing through Redding ! On a road trip, came to Lumberjacks for breakfast. I expected something huge, obscene even, after reading "where the big boys eat" on the enormous sign outside next to the 20-ft statue of a lumberjack. I expected to get a huge breakfast. Strangely enough, I didn't order breakfast and my meal wasn't huge. But back to the 20-ft statue. He's fantastic. Truly. Worth stopping for. I took semi-pornographic pictures with him subjecting myself to onlooking traffic. Then we went inside. This place is really fun. Saws, camp dishes, miner's lamps and stick furniture decorate the place. The booths and carpet and everything seemed pretty new. Clean. I liked it. Our waitress took a while to get to us and had a bit of an attitude at first but she warmed up. We got coffee and it was hot but floor-sweepings quality as can be expected at these joints. But I got real cream and sugar to doctor it up so I was happy. The menu offers a big breakfast and lunch selection and everything sounded amazing. I had a really hard time deciding. Not terribly cheap but I figured I was getting an obscene amount and I was hungry and ready to take half to go. I was surprised to find many healthy options on the menu. You could eat here with any kind of dietary restrictions. They also obviously cater to seniors with many special selections and price breaks. Cool. Settled on a "two-handed" steak sandwich. It was good and very satisfying but I ate the whole thing and wasn't stuffing myself. And I'm a small person. It came with a side and since I ordered cottage cheese, it came in a small dish. Maybe the french fries side is obscene but this was a very controlled portion. Hmmmph. To top it off, I don't think it came as described on the menu. There was no cheese or tomatoes and it was a bit dry but I was hungry and liked it all the same. Our waitress kindly gave us coffees to go (for the road) and we gave her a big tip but we lacked attention earlier when we needed it. We were there at around 11am but were served as if it was 3pm. The reason why this place has such a low review rating is definitely not for lack of ambiance, or lack of variety on this menu. In fact, the place is charming, and the establishment is clean. The problem is either they don't hire enough waitresses, or because they are incompetent. I honestly can't tell because they seem to be pretty good at getting everything else for everyone else,just now us. Could it be because we're the only culturally blended family in the establishment, though my money is on the fact that we're here to get a free breakfast with our stay at Travelodge. I seriously doubt the food is going to be all that good based on what I see, but the portions are really huge, if you're into that. Tip : hide your blue ticket from Travelodge until the waitress is ready to take your order. Maybe they'll be nicer and attentive to you until then. :) read more

We went here for breakfast after a weekend of camping. They have breakfast, lunch & dinner here. Breakfast items seem like the typical food you can get anywhere. I ordered the griddle combo: choice of pancakes (2), French toast or waffle. Served w/ 2 eggs & choice of bacon or link sausage $7.89. I got the waffle which was ok. I ordered scrambled eggs which I didn't like-not fluffy at all. Sausage was ok. Friend who's over 55 yrs old got to order off the Senior Menu. He had 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, & sausage for $5.99. He enjoyed it. Other friend got breakfast classic $7.49- country potatoes, bacon, 2 eggs, & biscuit w/ gravy. He didn't like the biscuit w/ gravy--mostly gravy, but he ate all of the other stuff. Orange juice is Not fresh-squeezed, probably from a jug of Minute Maid. Just ok, nothing special $2.49 a glass. They take credit cards & separate bathrooms though only 1 toilet/sink in each. Much like many others, we stayed at Travelodge and had a free breakfast at Lumberjacks. I guess some people have received poor service as a result of coming from Travelodge but we had no issues whatsoever. We stopped by bright and early, pretty close to opening time as we had to get on the road. We ended up not choosing items from their list reserved exclusively for Travelodge customers and just paid the difference for whatever we did want. I ordered the Meat Lover's Skillet with a side of biscuit and gravy. Among the other dishes ordered at our table were Chicken Fried Steak, Jill's Pesto Omelet, and a couple of your standard 'eggs, meat, and hash brown' plates. I really enjoyed the Meat Lover's Skillet which had a lot of flavor from all the different types of meat. I had plenty of leftovers for the road! The biscuit, however, was very disappointing. I can't put my finger on why exactly but it was extremely dry and just not good at all. The service was average. Nothing bad but nothing to praise. We placed our order and received it in a reasonable amount of time. The prices are fair. I loved the ambiance and the iconic lumberjack out front is a perfect photo op. I ate here at the request of a friend with a large group. I wasn't impressed with the menu selection or price so I opted for coffee which was very good & split my boyfriends meal. We each got a cup of coffee & He got 4 slices of bacon, 2 eggs, hash browns & toast. Our bill was over $16 before tip for that. However when I went to eat the toast there was hair between the toast & plate. GROSS! When I brought it to the waitress attention she offered to bring me more toast. NO THANK YOU. I was done eating when I saw that & I wasn't offered any discount on my bill or any compensation other than more toast. So beware cleanliness is NOT their strong point. Between slow refills on coffee, high prices, low quality & now hair we won't be back. Got into Redding late last Tuesday night, and checked into a motel off of Cypress Drive. The next morning, I sleepily crossed the street and found Lumberjacks restaurant. Being a Jack myself, I thought I'd try Lumber's place. Immediately, Keri greeted me and sat me at a table. I was surprised to see such a wide array of Breakfast choices on the menu. A cup of hot coffee suddenly appeared and Keri's smile and Energy nearly knocked me to the ground. She was so easy-going and fun to talk to. It really made my day. She was even so helpful as to point out her favorite fishing spots; since I was up here for a fishing trip, and later, on my next visit, I asked her where a country bar might be where they would have billiards. She came up with a great place over in Cottonwood. Cody's OK Corral. My word, the food is both tasty and heartily portioned. I didn't spend a fortune; maybe a sawbuck for breakfast. Lunch and dinner I found to be just as pleasant and affordable. My two day stay, turned into a full week, and I ate very well due to the fantastic food and perfect service encountered all week long at Lumberjacks. read more

Their portions are ridiculous! But as the name would suggest they have large portions for a reason. My sister in law ordered a side of biscuits and gravy instead of toast with her meal and it came out on it's own plate and was meal in itself. I did nicked a bite of it since she couldn't possibly finish her entire meal on her own. The grave was good and didn't have that metallic taste so they probably make their own. Biscuits were nice and fluffy and crumbly like they need to be for biscuits and gravy. What I actually ordered was pretty darn good which was the pesto eggs benedict. I have to applaud them on not over cooking my poached eggs. Its a huge pet peeve of mine if I order eggs benedict and my yolks are not runny. My runny eggs with their pesto hollandaise sauce was very nice. Over all it was a great meal and would visit again next time I'm in Redding. read more

Went for breakfast on Saturday morning and was disappointed in almost every aspect. Slow to be seated. We asked to be moved because of a lighting issue and that was fine. The server was very slow to bring drinks and to take the order. Extensive amount of time to get our food and when received, it was cold. I had to ask our server several times for the toast that comes with the meal. When leaving I went to the counter to pay and was not even greeted.
