I've been to this restaurant a few times and I love it. It's very small and it gives you that cozy, romantic feeling. The food is delicious, no matter what you order. You can't go wrong. Service is a little slow, but because the place and the views are so nice, you don't really mind taking the extra time to enjoy your dining experience. The servers are very friendly too and very accommodating. I have a couple of food allergies and they were very helpful when I was placing my order. I am a foodie and very picky about where I eat, but this place is definitely a keeper. Make sure you make reservations for dinner with a couple of days in advance because they fill up fast. read more

Tried luna blu for the first time this evening. Brought two guests with me and we started with the crab bisque and it was absolutely incredible. We also started with the siciliana salad which was perfectly fresh and juicy with its blood orange. We shared the bolognese and the gnocchi al speck , both VERY flavorful (gnocchi was my favorite!) . Filetto with gorgonzola sauce was my main course and i was blown away at how perfectly cooked it was. I normally dont go out of my way to leave reviews but this was some of the best food weve had. I came here last night for my birthday with my mom, bubbe (grandma) and my childhood friend. What a spectacular little gem! The food was delectable, the service was amazing, and the views were breathtaking. You entered the restaurant off a quaint street that reminded me of eastern Europe. I got to meet the owners and Executive Chef, Renzo and his wife, Crystal who was acting as the fill-in Maitre'd. They personally came to our table, chatted with us, and both personally wished me the very best of birthdays. The ambiance, the quality of the food, the price, and the whole experience made my day!! I recently had the divine pleasure of stumbling across Luna Blu....who knew an evening could be so delightful after a long day in SF watching the Blue Angels. The best fried calamari and crab salad that made our palates do the happy dance. The owners were great and so personable, I felt as if they had know us forever! Food is great. However be careful for the locals. You may not want to have an appetizer, meal, and dessert or you may be asked to leave by one as you over stayed your welcome. We were told on Saturday night, just after finishing dessert, that we over stayed our welcome as others were waiting for our table. An older lady customer who just sat down by us made sure to inform us. This part of my review is after I saw the owner's reply. Yes, we were past 2 hrs, but as I said we had just finished our dessert and spent okay money. So yes good thing we were ready to leave. However, service was slow at first from taking our appetizers to our order so this was part of why it was over 2 hrs. We didn't mind the slow service at first as a wonderful view. We've eaten here several times. Sitting out on the deck with the great view is fantastic! Food is good, but service can be weird and erratic. Here's why I say "weird" . . . we took a friend from out of town there recently and he ordered a hamburger. When it arrived, he asked if he could have it cut in half ( was a BIG burger.) Waiter said there would be a $1.50 charge for that! Seriously!? Waiter said he thought we were going to share the burger. We all looked at him in disbelief. Was really embarrassing! A dining experience doesn't get any better than this. Luna Blu is a quaint little oasis in the picturesque village of Tiburon. Be sure and make reservations, so you won't be turned away as it is small and family operated. We were quickly greeted by the host/co owner, Crystal. She is such a delight. We felt immediately like we had been welcomed into a dear friend's home. We sat outside on the patio overlooking Angel Island and the San Francisco Bay and marina. Renzo, the chef, spouse and co owner came to greet us at the table, and actually took our order. Exquisitely prepared food that shows all the passion and love that these two wonderful people share with the lucky dining patrons. A very nice wine list with some reasonably priced offerings from California and Italy. If you like mussels, do not miss the Spicy Mussel soup, that is loaded with the shell fish and has a sauce that requires soaking up every morsel with the fresh ciiabatta rolls. Another great starter was the pear gorgonzola frizee salad. Every dish we had was unique, fresh, and beautifully plated. Split a chocolate mousse for dessert. So rich, so decadent, and so the perfect end to a fine meal. The owners are completely devoted to their passion, and it shows. There is parking adjacent in a private lot. The restaurant will validate your ticket if you ask. We'll be back again and again. They are now part of our extended family. read more

Our first visit to Luna Blu gave me yet another reason to love the quaint little harbor town of Tiburon. We return to Marin County (from central Texas) several times a year to visit our son and daughter-in-law and I assure you we WILL return to Luna Blu! The food was fabulous, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant, as was the decor. I loved that the restaurant was modern yet classy but not pretentious at all! From the appetizers (note, the calamari was F A B), wine, entrees, and desserts there is just nothing to complain about. I highly suggest asking to be seated outside; they keep you warm and cozy and the view.....ohmygoodness! Can't wait to return to Tiburon and Luna Blu! read more

We arrived at 545 PM and were informed that the restaurant could not accomodate us until 7pm, so I reserved a table for 7pm and informed the hostess we would return. In the mean time, we went for cocktails at Servinos. When we returned at 7 pm, we were informed that our table was no longer available. The hostess told us that she called us and texted us. I reviewed my cell and confirmed I was called and texted about a table being available at 603 pm. I informed the hostess our reserved table was for 7pm, so we were sat on the patio. The waitstaff is inexperienced, rushes the dining experience and leaves you stranded pending simple requests; for instance parmesan cheese, which is not even freshly grated. We had the Cioppino and Dungeness Crab Tagliolini pasta, they both lacked flavor. While consuming our entrees the waitstaff, delivered our bill. We were nevered afforded the opportunity for dessert or apertifs. Not even 5 minutes later, the hostess approached us and informed me that the reservation for our table had arrived and we needed to pay and leave. Just for xclarification, there were two additional tables next to us that were seated before us and they were not being asked to pay their bill or leave. We dine out regularly and our suggestion is to pass on this restaurant, since the front of restaurant is brash an unpolished. So, my family and I ate there a few weeks ago, and we found out why this place is ranked #1 ITALIAN IN MARIN COUNTY and #1 RESTAURANT IN TIBURON AND #4 OUT OF OVER 600 RESTAURANTS IN MARIN COUNTY! The owner/chef Renzo told our group that his menu includes only his most-loved items from his years growing up in Sicily, many including fresh seafood. I was happy to see Lobster Bisque on the menu, and it exceeded my expectations 10-fold. Just the right of amount of cream, BIG lobster taste, and not too heavy or light on the Sherry. Our group enjoyed fresh fish (the sole is amazing), pastas and salads, and we were overjoyed with our selections. Desserts were scrumptious, especially the chocolate mousse with berries and fresh cream. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, and the entire staff made us feel at home. We came here mostly because of the great reviews but we were extremely disappointed. A few reasons: 10 minutes after being seated we had to ask for the waiter to get water and our drink orders in. No one had stopped by to check on us that whole time. 10 minutes later we had to ask for bread. The items on the menu were all based in the same underwhelming sauce (white wine cream sauce) -clearly made ahead of time and lathered on everything I ordered the tortellini (with aforementioned cream sauce and porcini) - The tortellini were clearly not homemade, as the menu stated, and the sauce was extremely under seasoned. I ate less than half of it and they did not charge me. To their credit, they did offer to make something else, but everyone else in our group had different orders and were also displeased, so I didn't think the outcome would be any different. Food came out extremely fast -normally a good thing, but when you claim your food is all homemade, I don't mind if you take extra time to prepare it. Nothing was fresh or locally sourced. The "wild caught pacific salmon" was not fresh -Tasted like it was bought at Trader Joe's, defrosted and just soaked in lemon. Our experience was so different than others' reviews that we actually asked the hostess if they had recently changed owners or chefs. She was the owner, along with her husband, and seemed shocked that we were less than impressed with her restaurant. The restaurant's description ("Sicilian seafood") is misleading. My Sicilian grandmother would cry if she came here, and the seafood was nothing to brag about. Only highlight of this place was the location: Right on the water. One star for that. read more

Luna Blu is what a restaurant should be. Crystal will make you feel like you own the place (which is more than I can say for Don Antonio around the corner). I ordered the Spaghetti Pescadore which was terrific. The rolls weren't a revelation and the new bartender looked terrified when my husband ordered a dirty martini up. He didn't know what dirty nor "up" meant. But we forgive them, odd interior and all, because the Italian food is good. one of the worse dining experiences . it started with stale bread , continued with most awful so called Cioppino that tasted like a cheap tomato soup from Safeway , hardly had any fish in it but was full of hard as rubber calamari . even the wonderful Burrata cheese they managed to spoil . the presentation was VERY unaesthetic . to call this place Italian or Sicilian is misleading .location is amazing ! service was fine . we paid $almost $60 for a miserable lunch. read more

I recently returned from a wedding in Tiburon, my friends and I chose to eat here after having read the strong reviews, the night before the party. What an utter disappointment. It pains me to write a bad review. Now, its possible, the owner was punishing us for being 5 minutes late to our reservation, but punishing your customers does not a great restaurant owner make. Call me old fashioned, but I don't really want to implore the wait staff to come to our table just so we can order drinks, but we had to. I felt like an ugly stepchild as waiters passed us over and over again, attending to other patrons as if we didn't exist. I'll find my damaged pride somewhere in my apartment when I return to Philadelphia. Now I won't go into the food much. Maybe it was a bad night, maybe it's always THAT bad, I don't know. What I do know, you can't just throw cream sauce on pasta and add a seafood 4 different ways on the menu and call it an "italian, Seafood" restaurant. Hopefully the Corleone family will send Fredo out to the west again to buy this restaurant and turn it into the Italian gem that they seem to think they are. The foundation for my disappointment in this restaurant is built on the bricks of good yelp reviews that this restaurant has received. I don't like to complain during a meal, especially not to waiters because those guys work hard. I registered disappointment to the hostess....who just so happened to be the owner, she seemed bewildered. How could you possibly be disappointed? Well, for starters, I just paid 20 bucks for a plate of tortellini I could have bought for 5 dollars at trader joes and made in the comfort of my home. This is the message I leave for readers. This restaurant has many excellent reviews. Maybe it was once a delicious Italian restaurant, but unfortunately that is no longer the case and the owners don't seem to care. read more

Amazing. Everything was amazing. From the lemon drop (and manhattan my husband had), to the wonderful complementary bread, to the very difficult to decide menu, we so enjoyed our dinner out! We settled on the risotto and gnocchi. Both were delicious, but the risotto won the day. Wrapped in prosciutto, the mound of risotto was perfectly cooked and so wonderful. We had our 16 month old with us. Although the restaurant is upscale, they were very welcoming to our daughter, who is pretty well behaved in restaurants. They do have high chairs. The patio is beautiful, with heaters and blankets available for patrons who wish to watch the boats and hear the waves crash. Next time we are in the area, we will be back to explore more on this menu! read more

This one of the top 5 for me in Marin. It has the great everything's- food, service, ambiance and bar. I'm the only vegan in the family and they always have something for me plus if course seafood dishes as well as pastas and other meats for the rest of my family and friends. Came here on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. The menu says brunch ends at 4pm. After we were seated we waited 5 minutes and no one had yet to attend to us. I flagged down a staff and asked for the brunch menu to which he replied they were not serving brunch. I replied that the menu says brunch ends at 4pm. He shrugged. I asked for a beer list and he left. 10 minutes later we still had no beer list, no waiter came by, no water, nothing. Terrible service and given the place is not that large it is unusual. read more

Great place, great location and great food. All my favorite wines were in the wine list, I enjoyed the Peju Merlot this time. I'm not a Merlot drinker but this one rocks. The cheeses WOW and cold meat selections even more WOW. Swordfish and cerviche were amazing. If you end up in Tiburon it's the place to eat. They validate parking in the adjacent lot. read more

This is a really nice Italian restaurant.. my wife and i came here on a Saturday night for my birthday. The wait was a little bit round 20 mins..but that's because we didn't call ahead of time to make reservations. But the manager or the owner (lady with British accent) was really polite and seated us ASAP... The food was GREAT..and the view from the patio is amazing..I would recommend sitting out in the patio even if it is cold they have heaters outside that will keep you warm and toasty...and nd the view will make you forget about the chill read more
