The service i would describe as too disorganized rather than rude or unfriendly. On Saturday it took a while, over 20 minutes to get our food. Literally EVERY SINGLE time i place a phone order here, the order is wrong! And it's not that I always lose out. Sometimes they give me 1 or 2 extra plates that I didn't even order. Other times the order is someone else's entirely. This has to happen to a lot of people because it happens to me EVERY SINGLE time. So, while I love the food, and really don't have any other options since there is no Persian food within 50 miles of me, I'll still eat here. But at some point incompetence earns you 2 stars, and this is that time. 2 stars cuz i like the food and I'm too dumb to learn my lesson! Should be 1 for the amount of mess ups tho. Get your stuff together Luna Grill Ventura!! Hire somebody that can handle it and fire whoever can't. These are $15 plates, not cheap. Wow falafel wrap was the best I've ever had. The falafel wasn't too dry or too moist , it was perfect! It came w hummus and I asked for two sides of thaziki sauce ... for only $9.75 plus a side. What an excellent experience! I visited with 2 others, my mom and my aunt, and we enjoyed the ambience, the service, and the food. It was a tad pricey for the type of restaurant, but we enjoyed our time overall. This is the type of restaurant in the vein of Blaze Pizza, Pier 76 fish grill, and the Habit Grill: you walk in, order, then pick a spot to eat while you wait for your food to be freshly made to order. This particular spot is clean with lots of seating options, and comfy. We didn't sit outside due to the cold, but we did love the fact that we *could* lol Everyone who worked there was friendly, offered us great advice, and answered all of our questions. One man even recommended a great coffee shop in the area when we asked. The food came rather quickly, especially when you remember that they don't start cooking 'til you order. We ordered, between the three of us: a house salad with salmon, a chicken kebob plate with a side of salmon, and a combo kebob plate of the chicken and ground sirloin. We were all impressed with the quality: Two out of three of us completely finished our plates, and the third was just not hungry enough - but she tried! The prices were a little high in my opinion, and came out to about $20 per person, tax included. While that is not unseemly expensive, and you get a large portion of good quality food, I feel that for a "Stand in line to order" restaurant, it just feels a bit too high (i.e., I would expect closer to $10-$15 per person for a whole meal per person.) Went to Luna Grill with a friend on Saturday planning to eat at their outside area. A party was just leaving one of the tables. My friend and I went to the sitting area while we waited for our order to be ready; tables had not been cleaned. Nobody came to clean the tables or preventing us to use the tables before being sanitized. Two more parties came and one requested for the tables to be clean. By the time our order was ready nobody had come out to sanitize the tables in spite of one party already seating at one of the tables. We decided to take the food home. Disappointing! read more

I have gotten a plate several times from the restaurant. Today I opted for a salad as I'm trying to watch my carbohydrates and the lettuce was slimy. They remade the salad for me but it was still slimy the second time around. $15 and I was still hungry afterward. Very disappointed. I will go elsewhere for salads. read more

Flat cut chicken kabob was great, salad, rice etc. too.. But the falafel starter? Best choice. "Thank you for that suggestion" I would say to him. Now I can suggest the same to you. I dislike cooking so I eat out a lot. I read the reviews on this place and thought my chances of havingood mediterranean food, would be high. Boy was wrong. The meats were basically charcoal, the salad tasted as if I were eating plain parsley; and if you thought you can get any kind of standard sides that should come with the high priced meal, WRONG. They charge extra for everything and anything.. So, even after being charged on a separate transaction to replace the hard dry pita bread, the bread was still hard. So hard and dry, it literally made a clinking sound against the plate. I and a few other customers in the restaurant that evening were surprised and laughed in disbelief. Overall, I just feel cheated and ripped off by Luna grill. I can easily name 3 other Mediterranean restaurants that deserve your busine$$ and charge a very good amount le$$ than this place. Located up the Norwegian grade but well worth the drive/gas if Mediterranean food is what you're craving after a long hard day. read more

Very disappointed. The chicken kabob plates were poor. The rice was bland. The hummus, although I specified spicy, was bland, the chicken was ok but nothing special. The falafel was burnt dry and tasteless. The tahini sauce was terrible. The salad that came with the falafel was bland and tasteless. I recently tried the spicy feta dip - OMG... delicious! I am currently stuck on the Mediterranean salad. This is not your regular salad from any other place, this is a very savory salad. It has the israeli couscous which I had never had before and fell in love with. It also comes with a pita bread - yumm! I usually get this with the chicken which is always very juicy. Before the salad, I would get the Chicken Kabob Plate with the carrots. The cucumber-yogurt dip is awesome when you add it over the rice or dip your pita bread into it! I recently heard that Luna Grill has an app that allows you to scan in your receipt to accumulate rewards (1 point per dollar spent), you receive $5 for every $100 spent. The app also has offers every now & then & it allows you to place your order through the app (super easy!). The restaurant itself is very nice and doesn't feel like a "fast food" place but it's also not somewhere where you can have a nice romantic dinner or get dressed up. read more

Found this place by accident while in Ventura. This place is legit Mediterranean food! From the falafel, kabobs to salads you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. If you had asked me yesterday, about LUNA GRILL, chances are I would have told you about the sautéed carrots seasoned with dill that are worth the price of admission! I would have told you about the delicious lamb shish kebob that is tender and cooked over an open fire that absolutely seasons the lamb cubes to a perfect medium rare. And again I say, IF YOU HAD ASKED ME YESTERDAY. Tonight, we took a friend to the Luna Grill in Ventura, expecting the same delicious experience that we have had on EVERY OTHER TIME we have dined there. But what I was served were meat squares that were slathered with some type of seasoning glue that prevented the meat from cooking to the browned perfection. This can only be attained when the meat is protected from excess moisture, or some over salty, slimy spice mix. I assumed that it was a mistake that would be corrected, and replaced with their regular delicious shish kebob. To my horror, I was met with a lame excuse that all of the meat was in the same mess of seasoning-- and to add insult to injury, he continued to explain that ALL of the meat would taste the same since they have started using a new seasoning mix. So I can only assume that all future visits will be met with the same sad, salty, abused pieces of meat. My personal recommendation, if you're craving a plate of succulent, flame-kissed shish kebab---head to Newbury Park for Ali Babas. Love this place! Their reward system is awesome. I refer a lot of friends, get free menu items, earn points to get $5 credit, and it all just keeps me coming back. Meals are a great proportion and delicious. Reasonably priced. I've encountered all the employees at this point and only 1 was on the rude side. Tonight, Maone took our order and she was friendly and sweet! I haven't ordered from this location ToGo because when I ordered ToGo from the Oxnard location, the fries were soggy.
