Really cute, aesthetic brunch spot with a huge menu and excellent service. We had a large party and were seated quickly, and our server was friendly, funny, and attentive throughout the meal. The hollandaise sauce was very mild; didn't have the classic buttery slightly lemon flavor. Side of hashbrown with crispy toasty outside layer. The Breakfast board was enough for 3 people. Came with sausages, good smoke bacon strips and thick juicy slice of ham as proteins. French toast was the best carb on this board. Could taste the cinnamon; nicely soaked without any dry bread layer. Both the waffles and pancakes were pretty dense. Waffles had more vanilla flavor. Also came with fruits which were sweet. Good value. Food took about 15 min. Was about 20 minutes to get a table on a Sunday morning. Parking was a little difficult as the parking lot is shared with a grocery store. Came in for brunch with friends at 1030. Parking here was tough especially in the main lot in front of the restaurant. Cars will idle to wait for a spot to open up. Which makes sense if you are grocery shopping. Otherwise, there is parking alongside the same side as the restaurant that is more accessible I think coming before 11 am is the move on weekends because the wait was up to 1 hr 15 min when we left at 12pm The place itself is just like others have said, very pretty and aesthetic. Lots of plants. Comfy chairs. High ceilings. It's open and airy. It feels fresh, comfortable and picturesque. They have space for groups of 2-6. Probably more but would take longer to get seated. The bar is also a nice option! Now to the food! Drinks are delicious here! Fresh OJ and drool worthy matcha specials. Wouldn't be a bad idea to grab a drink and enjoy them nearby if you are short on time. There's a very cute bridge over a 'botanical' garden directly next to it you could visit too. It's over a bunch of greenery haha. Maybe wildflowers bloom later in the season though. Our server, Juan, was really great! Attentive, helpful and best of all had a great sense of humor. Because the menu is large, we asked him for his recommendations. He gave us the top 5 most popular dishes as well as his favorites. We started with a board and then we weren't sure we should order own plates after. It's a lot of food! It was also super good! I really liked how fluffy and soft the pancakes were. Definitely recommend them and a board if you are coming in a group! The bacon was crispy. Important because I know some people like their bacon on the soggier side. I'm not one of those weirdos! We split it across 3 of us and still had leftovers to take home. We did end up ordering a scramble to share between two and a fun size crab cake Benedict. I forget the name of the scramble but it has a chipotle sauce. We got it with egg whites. I don't recommend it because the sauce overpowers the rest of the dish which is unfortunate because the meat and veggies seemed really good. I also think that having egg yolks may help but I'm not confident because the sauce covered the entire thing. I was a big fan of the crab cakes! I think they're hard to get right. The hollandaise sauce can taste chalky and it's a gamble on whether it's fresh or boxed. Same with the crab cakes themselves. I don't mind if they're frozen to table as long as I can't taste it. It was very crispy! It had pretty perfect crunch without being overcooked. Inside was nice and smooth. Sauce was not chalky! This might be a controversial take with avocado lovers but I really liked that they slice the avocado thinly across the biscuit. Hear me out! It's already a very saucy dish with the hollandaise and avocado is slippery too! So less is more here because your next bite isn't spilling all over the place when you go to cut it. I'm sure avocado lovers don't mind the slippery struggle but I do haha. I also think the thin slices even out the flavors. Nothing overpowers another! I was excited to try Garden's Gate Cafe. It has a good review standing on Yelp. It is easy to find, with a parking lot across the street. I was pleasantly surprised how nice and well staff the restaruant was. We were greeted immediately, and put on a waiting list, it was busy. Usually when an establishment is this busy, it's a precursor to good food. The ambiance here is modern/chill vibe. It was fiiled with conversations, and people moving about. Our waitress was pleasant, and took our order quickly. Our drinks were brought out fast, and we were impressed with the plates of food we saw other patrons eating while we waited. We didn't wait long for our food to arrive. The plated food looked very appetizing when placed in front of us. Once I started eating it, I was disappointed. The country potatoes were boiled potatoes, there was no crispiness to them, and barely seasoned. The Chilaquiles were a dud. It was thick soggy chips, with a lot of dry spots, just plain chip flavor. I finally had a chance to visit this place and it was good but nothing crazy. First time, I went on a weekend and it was about a 45 min wait. We had to walk in to join the waitlist but I think adding a Yelp waitlist with the option to join from the app would be more convenient. We were in a rush so we decided to come back on a weekday. We came back and it was very empty and quite peaceful! The pancakes were pretty dry.. but overall, the food is pretty good. I absolutely love this place. Everything I've had near has been delicious. I have now been here 6 times and I always try something new when I come there explore their menu. On the weekends there is usually a wait to get in (20-40 min) but when I go during the week I am seated immediately. The service is always great and on point. They also have some Really bomb mocktails. There's only one drink I got that I didn't like very much but everything else I've tried I loved. Their mimosas are my favorite. They are usually playing nice music and it's such a great place to hang with your friends or a little morning date with your partner. We got there just before 2 pm on a Saturday and there was a 10-15 minute wait for a two top. They took our info and said we'd get a text when our table was ready. It took 15 mins but we used the time to game plan our menu selections. We were sat inside at the furthest point. But were given a table for two which was nice to have the space. Our server was nice but not super talkative. That's fine. We ordered regular coffee, the Garden Gate board and the carnitas Benedict. The food too a very long time to come out. Garden's Gate Cafe is owned by the same folks that own The Breeze Cafe in Newark. If you've tried there, it definitely tastes almost identical, but is a brighter and more botanical space. My friend and I shared the chorizo omelette and fried chicken + waffles with some mimosas. The highlight out of everything for me was probably the strawberry mimosa; dangerously good. On the other hand, the food I felt was meh. The fried chicken was dry and bland. I couldn't super taste the chorizo in the omelette either. Service though was great. We came on an early Saturday morning and there was no wait. I loved that they offer half-order options. I was able to order half of the California Benedict and still save room for crepes for dessert, which was a big win. My friend ordered the California omelette and, while the plating wasn't fancy, she said it was delicious. We ordered orange juice mimosas--slightly smaller than what we're used to (yes, I know they're in champagne glasses, but some places pour a bit more ), though they were still tasty. New restaurant (about 4 months?) in a newly reburbished building. Staff friendly, accommodations comfortable and attractive, and food that is pretty darn great. Whatever else you get, try the pancakes as a side. They are fantastic -- a perfect balance between cakey-ness and bounce of a pancake. They are moist and have a good flavor. Of course the ball of butter melding and the side of syrup and whipped cream certainly help, too. Seriously, the pancakes here are better than a SJ breakfast classic (Uncle John's). The menu covers a lot of ground, though -- from Mexican and American breakfast classics to robust and exciting-looking burgers. I tried the Huevos Rancheros with tri-tip steak and a couple poached eggs. They even confirm how you want your poached eggs (firm or medium), and that's music to my ears. When the poached eggs are not the way you like it, it's miserable. Happily, these were perfect. The dish itself had lots of flavor, and yes, lots of spice. Loved it. The one part I was underwhelmed with was the tri-tip. Just a bit too tough and rubbery for my liking. But overall, I loved this dish, and the price point was reasonable, too. Drinks: The coffee is outstanding. Dark roast, slightly nutty. Not expecting this. Also, the Ube Latte is really good, too.Pretty sweet with a sense of cocoanut. Really recommend this new place. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, along with a bar area on one side. The menu is quite extensive, with drinks ranging from mimosas, cocktails, and coffees, and food including pancakes, waffles, sandwiches, and a variety of egg dishes. We ordered the Garden's Gate breakfast board, which comes with a mix of breakfast items like pancakes, waffles, and French toast topped with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and syrup on the side. It also originally comes with bacon, sausage, and ham, but we asked to have those removed. We added chocolate chips to the pancakes for an extra charge. The board was around $35, which is a bit on the pricier side, but you are able to sample a variety of items and it's suitable for sharing. Visually, it was very appealing, and the portions were good for three people. However, the pancakes, waffles, and French toast were a bit plain on their own, so it might have been nicer if they had offered flavors rather than just toppings. I also ordered a caramel macchiato, which was well-balanced, neither too sweet nor too bitter. The main downside was the service. By far one of the greatest breakfast/brunch places me and my wife have been to in a while! Definitely consider this to be a hidden gem in Willow Glen. We were greeted right away by our server, Aria, and she was super respectful and carried great vibes and service adding to the overall experience! The inside of the café is very aesthetically pleasing and offered great natural lighting. My wife and I had ordered a benedict, omelette and a side of waffles! The portions were definitely shareable, which was great because there were so many different options on their menu we couldn't decide, and we love sharing our food with each other. The Lattes we got were amazing as well! It was not too sweet and not too bitter, definitely the perfect balance that we look for in a coffee. Another thing to note, usually other places get the cookie butter flavor in the latte completely wrong, but this place absolutely fulfilled the satisfaction in what a cookie butter latte is. Again, the service Aria gave us was awesome! She wasn't bothersome at all compared to other places we've been to, and she even let us look at the device that showed all of the ingredients for building your own omelette! Overall, our experience was great, we were so shocked at how empty the restaurant was because of how great of quality the service and the food was! We will definitely be coming back again to try the other options we weren't able to the day we came in! This is a nice little Breakfast diner that does it right. Their best part-- is the spread of food they serve on a wooden platter. A terrific sight for your morning! We chose the ube waffles and protein scrambles which were satisfactory and with good flavor-- albeit we did need to ask for hot sauce to give the scramble a little extra kick. The food platter is something we didnt get to try but having seen it in person pass by us definitely had us wishing we ordered that instead. Next time... ;) The service was kind, thoughtful and I appreciated the professionalism by the staff. However, two things did come up during our time at this diner. One, if you're coming in the fall/winter season-- bring a warm coat because that restaraunt was cooold. Brrr! Two, the food DID take a little while to come for us -- which wasn't fun. The staffing did seem short with only three servers running the place. What a cute place! The place is right under an apartment/condo. Parking - it shares a small parking lot with the grocery store in that lot. Keep in mind, it says that parking is only 90 minutes. I didn't realize this and we were there for about 2 hours and nothing happened. We went for brunch on a weekday so maybe it's not busy and they're more lenient on parking. Service is awesome! They're so nice and attentive. Since it was real slow they just let us hang out there for 2 hours and just kept coming by every so often to check on us. Bathrooms are small and clean. Food was delicious. Had the ube latte, hot (no espresso because espresso is an extra $3.25!!) and it smells amazing! Before even taking a drink it smells like a sweet shortbread cookie. The smell blended with the taste of the drink was great. I would've preferred some espresso, but I couldn't get myself to pay that much more for espresso. If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely go back to try more dishes. read more

First time here, hope it's not the last. My daughter and I walked in and were promptly and politely greeted. The place seemed somewhat busy but we were seated right away. The one thing I would like to comment on is the lack of attention we received once we were seated. The waitress was nice the one time we saw her but I feel like I waited a little long in between to get my water, my utensils, my food. I never got my toast and any offer for condiments. I looked around at the other diners next to me and thought they waited a little long for things as well. Other than that the food was good. Nicely plated food. read more

This place is such a gem tucked within a little plaza by Fruitdale. Checked this place out for the first time and had a great time experience. Not only was the food delicious, but Juan, our server, made brunch very memorable. He was such a gentleman, was very attentive and a pleasure talking to. We ordered the Salmon Benedict and Chipotle Skillet and both were great choices and portions were huge so you will be getting your moneys worth! Definitely a hidden gem in San Jose. Great food and Service. Came here on a Friday around brunch time. We order two iced coffees, brunch burger, and the Meat Lovers omelet. Everything was delicious, tasty, and came out to perfection. Will be coming back to try other menu items. read more

We got to this place as a recommendation from our cousin who also came here with friends a while back. The place is HUGE so you can choose if you want inside or outside seating. There's a parking lot across the street but also plenty of parking on the street near by. Service was fast and even dog friendly, they brought us a water bowl for our dog. Portions are BIG, be prepared, I couldn't finish mine. My only comment will be if possible to replace the potatoes with a side salad, to be honest I didn't even ask but maybe I should have.
