I am so appreciative that Sam came out the same day my heater broke even though it was the evening. Although he fixed the original problem, he also found a crack that meant he had to shut it off. With Lunt, we've found the HVAC company we'll stay with as long as they're in business. A new 2-stage Bryant furnace was installed in our home a year ago by a clueless company and it has been a total disaster from day one. Rooms too hot and too cold at the same time. A month ago it was time to install a new filter and we weren't sure how to do that with this Bryant, so we called Lunt and were immediately impressed: they answered promptly, came as scheduled, then demonstrated how to install the filter. They clearly know what they're doing. So this week we had them come back to deal with our hot-cold rooms issue. They knew why this was happening and changed the 2-stage furnace to run only in high-flow mode. We have rooms with ceilings of different heights and the low-flow mode didn't circulate the air. It came on constantly for short periods of time, trying to heat the rooms with high ceilings. That waste of gas was VERY expensive. High-flow did it! Now the warm air circulates well, the temperature in the various rooms has evened out, the furnace comes on much less often, and will surely be gas-efficient. Sam and Mark were great to work with. Mark was efficient in the diagnosis of our Your furnace problem and returned on a separate appointment with the right parts and quickly repaired our furnace. It now runs well and is much quieter. Thanks Lunt! If there is any negative, they were a little slow to return calls after the initial contact but I made it clear that were weren't in an emergency situation (we have a wood stove) and after living in Minnesota it never really gets cold in Petaluma! I called Lunt Heat and AC because my propane wall furnace wasn't working. Lunt called me back the same day and explained the soonest he could come by was Monday--which I understood because it was the beginning of very cold weather. I ended up taking the unit apart and fixing the problem myself so I cancelled their appointment. Being a retired contractor in the service business for over 30 years, I appreciate good customer service and I dislike folks that don't have the courtesy to return calls. 2 other companies never called me back. Mark came out right away to check on our AC that was not cooling. He quickly diagnosed the problem and replaced a motor. He discovered that the new motor was functional, but too noisy, so he came back and replaced it. His company was recommended to us by two people. Both said he was an honest businessman. Called Lunt Fri mid day...nice polite csp i talked with took my info and passed it to Mark whom called me within an hour or so and said he'd "swing by in a bit". I had already explained the problem so he said he'd be over ...cool! wrong! 25 min later he calls to say he doesn't feel like crawling around and I should call a plumber ( mind you it's a copper condenser line) not a leaking faucet. Been using Lunt for the last 20 yrs for most of our Heating / AC needs (my Father in Law, who was a contractor used him whenever he needed Heat/AC work). Very knowledgeable. My wife once called another company to try and fix our AC unit, they were clueless and couldn't find the problem. Mark came out and instantly figured out what was wrong. Mark has put in our AC unit, and completed necessary repairs over the 15 yrs since it's installation...okay, he's only come out a couple of times. Mark Lunt is a highly professional individual. In my case the blower engine in the heater/AC unit had come off its mounts. If he could have welded it back on that would have been the most economical. But the proposal involved replacing the entire motor (which was quite expensive), so I figured I'd try bringing the squirrel cage to an auto shop (where they have welding tools) to reattach the broken mount and reinforce the others. The problem was in hooking everything back up. I thought I took good notes on all the hookups, but it still didn't work. So Mark came out again and helped us untrip a switch to get the furnace working again. read more

Great job. My gas furnace broke. Called the office, workman in the field called back in 20 minutes, got here an hour later. He fixed it for a reasonable fee, and explained what the problem was. Met Mark and Sam at the spring home and garden show in Santa Rosa. Had them come out and give me a quote. They didn't present as sales people but as folks that really wanted to make it right for us. They were informative, discussed options, what would work best and what would suffice. We didn't make a decision right away and I'm glad we didn't. We actually had them replace not only our heater but also our A/C. Mark was great about providing options. I didn't want to pay much for an A/C given that we don't use it very often but wanted something that would work well. Both he and Sam did an awesome job in installation, all in one day. They were very thorough and took the time to explain the different options for a new heater and air conditioning during the initial quote. They weren't the cheapest and not the most expensive, but were the most professional--in reference to the quality of the quote, very quick response time, and quality of work. During the job they were kind, careful to keep clean, and were a good team with each other. They even left the plastic that they put down under the house. With an older building here in Mendocino Avenue, it seems like every summer there is a cooling problem and every winter a heating issue. Some other companies weren't even looking at the intake return ( which was way too small) or the air vents to see what size ducts we had ( again too small) Lunt changed all the ducts and the intake return and got the permits, did the testing. These guys are beyond useless. I wish I could give them zero stars. They've been out to my business 5 times to try and fix the air conditioner each time claiming that it's in perfect working order and 24 hours later it stops functioning. If you want your AC vented correctly by someone who knows what they're doing and actually gives a shit about their customers call anybody but these guys. Upgrade on furnace in old house: I purchased a 1500 sq. ft home with a high efficiency furnace a few years old. The furnace warmed the house but when the furnace blew air the sound was so load we could hardly talk. Over the years this noise became more frustrating. Further, on cold mornings in the West County, the furnace would run for 5 minutes, shut off and then recycle, 5 on 2 off for several cycles. Reading on the Internet it was apparent the furnace was oversized and going through overheating followed by the blower cooling the furnace. The furnace was installed by the local "sheet metal company" so I called them for a quote for a furnace with variable fan and modulating fuel valve. The nice young man looked at the furnace they installed in 2004 and said I could buy another like it, 80,000BTUs. He made no measurement, didn't inspect the ducts, just shot from the hip and said, this is what you need. My wife suggested getting a second quote so I read about other furnaces, besides Carrier and selected York. Their website sent me to Lunt. I called and two gentlemen came out. We discussed the noise and they evaluated our heating system. They brought equipment to evaluate the air flow and determined the furnace was trying to force too much air through the ducting, forcing it to overheat, hence the frequent cycling. Lunt Technicians measured the air flow through the ducting and did testing, up front at no expense to me. Using these analyses, they said I should increase the duct and air venting in two rooms to gain better balance. I followed their suggestions, had them install what they recommended and am very satisfied. The furnace, a York YP9C, is virtually without sound and the smaller 60,000 BTU furnace seems correct for our home size. I highly recommend talking to Lunt and not the "sheet metal company". read more
