This was my first time visiting so they brought my friend and me two of the tiny (small street taco size) samples of beef fajita tacos al carbon. OMG. So good. It totally influenced what I ordered. I got the tacos all carbon with one beef and one chicken. Their flour tortillas are amazing. So light and thin. One of the best I've ever had. Without that sample I might never have known! I don't love their salsa. It isn't bad, just not great. It isn't salsa that inspires me to eat chips/salsa non-stop until my dinner arrives. So I guess that is actually a good thing. Lol. Their salsa is very similar in flavor to Chuy's salsa, right across the street. I don't like theirs either. This is just a less chunky version. I knocked off a star due to the acoustics. The floors are cement and the interior ceiling is tin. Every time someone dragged a chair around to sit down or push back from a table or to clean the tables it was excruciating to my ears. It also hurt when the busser was putting dishes in the tub and they clinked together. These are not sounds that ordinarily hurt my ears. They are just overly amplified here. I will be back for those amazing flour tortillas and tacos or the fajitas. I will just choose to sit outside next time. read more

This Lupe location is underwhelming compared to its counterparts in Central Texas. The taste of the beef fajita meat is inconsistent as sometimes it has the level of lime infused flavor one expects from Lupe and sometimes it is mediocre. When it is mediocre, the meat is indistinguishable from average Tex Mex. Let's improve the quality to justify charging $100 for fajitas. Also, consider giving an appropriate amount of salsa as we ordered 1.5lbs of beef fajitas and chips and they continue to send the smallest salsa container. Also grill the meat at a slightly higher temp to produce a better sear. read more

Legit! You must go here. We had excellent service immediately. The hostess asked if we'd been in before. We told her it was our first time. She thanked us and told us that we made a great choice. We went around 3pm on Saturday, so it wasn't very busy. We were greeted right away by our server. He made a really good margarita suggestion...the blood orange marg ($10.75). We ordered the queso to start. The food runner made us feel like we ordered gold when he brought our queso, he was very cheery. The chef came to our table personally and thanked us as first time customers. We were offered samples of the beef fajita. We weren't originally going to order them bc of the price, but after that sample...um, yes please. My hub and I shared a beef fajita for 1 ($27). Plenty of food for us both. I had ordered 3 crab stuffed shrimp too just in case ($10). The shrimp tasted very fishy. That made me sad. The flour tortillas are the best I've ever had. They come 3 to an order and are super large, thin and soft. It allowed us to wrap the tortilla and tuck the end up so toppings wouldn't fall out. Brilliant! We realized pretty quickly that the sample was filet mignon and not the standard beef. Next time! The beef was still very flavorful and tender, although cooked a bit long for my liking. The salsa was great. It's not a typical red tomato salsa. It was a deep red smoky salsa. They also serve borracha beans with the chips and salsa to start. My hub ate every last bean. Stopped in around 8:15 pm on a Friday night. We had a party of 6 adults and a 3 year old. The location is not setup for groups larger than 4 mostly they have some 6 tops but you will have to wait longer than the average person. The hostess first told us 30-40 min and were were going to leave and she came back and said 20-30 min so we stayed. It ended up taking 50 min for us to get seated and a large portion of the place was empty, they just did not have seating for 7. The server we finally got was friendly enough but very forgetful as we asked for things three different times he never brought and we had to go chase him down or remind him a second time to get it which is blamed thinking someone had already brought it to us. The food everyone got was good and the portion sizes were good. The group ordered the table side guac which they enjoyed I did not have any myself but was good. One thing I did witness at closing as we left was the manager checking the booths with one of the employees for cleanliness using a flashlight to check under the tables, under booths, and inside cushions. Fantastic mexican food! Restaurant manager noted that it was our first time and gave us a taste of their steak fajitas on the house - they were awesome. We ended up getting the trio fajitas with shrimp, chicken and steak. It came with seafood butter which was delicious! Definitely recommend this spot especially for bigger groups! read more

When we moved to Dallas from Houston we had to say goodbye to Lupe Tortilla. It was one of our favorite places. When we heard they were building Dallas locations we were thrilled albeit a little nervous about the quality. Because a franchise is never as good as the original, right? We spent a year checking Google to see if they were open again and again and again. Finally, we were able to check it out. Let me tell you, it was 100% worth the wait. You know that feeling you get when you get something that you didn't realize you missed? This was it for us. The food tasted EXACTLY like home. Our server Erick was fantastic. When asked if we had ever eaten there before, we told him that we used to frequent the original locations when we lived in Houston. He didn't skip a beat in offering the original salsa, as he said most Houstonians ask for. We ended up talking with him and the manager for a while and we were excited to find out that the original owners didn't franchise, the family just expanded their locations. The manager told us that she trained at a Houston location for several weeks to fully get a grasp on the food and the service and things like that. The attention to detail and the level of service this company provides is bar none. I know this review is long and if you've gotten this far, I don't know what else you are waiting for. I have been wanting to try this Lupe ever since it opened and it did not disappoint. I know there are some negative reviews but each person's experience is different and we could not have asked for better service, food, and ambiance. We have eaten at several Lupe Tortilla's in the Houston area and this location lived up to those visits. Decided to try the puffy tacos-very tasty. Not the same as I have had at Taco Garage in San Antonio but good just the same. Husband had the beef fajitas and have to say probably the best I have had since moving here from San Antonio. And love that we were served two types of salsa and we given a sample dish when we were seated. Overall a very good and positive experience and plan on visiting this restaurant again. read more

This place has great customer service. I mentioned it was my first time and the manager came out and brought me a sample of signature fajita meat. I was provided a free drink due to the soft drink I wanted was unavailable. Their lemonade is great here taste home made. They provide you chips and salsa and churro bean soup to start with while you are waiting to order. I ordered the fajita meat meal dinner meal and it was exceptional. A worker came up to a group next to us saying that the kitchen was trying to catch up on orders because there were two big parties and she said would sit them at the bar to give them chips and salsa and drinks while they waited. At this point it's been 35 minutes and we asked the hostess when we would be sat because we were told 20 min. She said sorry there are two parties ahead of you and we would have to keep waiting... yet the two parties in front of us were sat and I saw people walk in after us and are now ahead of us? Worst and slowest service. Not sure if they need more cooks or what but they definitely had enough servers who just stood there doing absolutely nothing. We recently ate here and will not be returning for assorted reasons. First off I have to comment on the loise level at the resturant. We were eating dinner there on a Friday night. It was busy and it was loud. We yelled to each other that the place really needed something to kill the noise level. Conversation was next to impossible. I happened to have a noise level meter on my phone and it read an average of 80db with a peak of 88db. Sustained levels above 85db will damage your hearing. That's how loud it was. Several days later, our ears still feel fatigued. It wasn't pleasant. We can also say that on the whole, the food was pretty bland. The guacomole had almost no taste at all. The beans were dull and the rice was bland. The flour tortillas for the fajitas were about a foot wide and very thin. As a tortilla, they weren't bad. Again, a little bland and needed a bit more salt in the dough. But building a fajita with a foot wide thin tortilla results in something that should have been a burrito. A foot long fajita is a bit hard to manage. As far as the price, beef fajitas for two, extra flour and corn tortillas, large guacomole, two ice tea and a 15% tip came to $93.37. Brand new location just opened up on Belt Line near Addison. Friendly and attentive service. The bean salsa here is phenomenal, has a little bit of a kick. Since it was my first time, they brought out a sample of their signature beef fajita. It did not disappoint! The marinade was delicious and the meat was very tender. One of the managers brought it out to our table and provided a little history on the restaurant and their signature dish. I ordered the lunch chicken tacos. They came with refried beans and Mexican rice. I highly recommend getting the flour tortillas with it. The other people in my party ordered the beef or chicken fajitas. The flour tortillas were huge. The enchiladas were not that great but the rice and beans were pretty good. I didn't think this plate was worth about $16 more like $9.99.
