I absolutely love Lupe Tortilla...in Addison that is..while I know a lot of my complaint is because they are new and still getting their feet on the ground, some things need to be brought up. First, the wait is unreal....1.5 hours at 4;30pm on a Saturday. No. Most of the tables dont have guests seated at them, so I assume tHat don't have enough wAit staff. Okay, fine, that is because they are new. As I was going to the restroom, there was a broken glass and water everywhere. Glass chards everywhere! Not one waiter or waitress cared or attempted to clean it. But the worst part was while in the restroom, I was washing my hands and I watched a worker in an apron leave the bathroom stall and proceed out the door without washing their hands. I stopped her and asked if she was going to wash her hands and she said she had to go make tortillas. Honestly, if this is the work ethic and environment this location is okay with...we will keep driving too Addison. read more

Decided to go after they were fully open. They do not take reservations. We waited about 1.5 hours and had some drinks while we waited for our table. Food was really good as we had the fajitas. Drinks were good as well. Chips, salsa and beans/dip were good. My only complaint was the service provided by our waiter. Maybe he was having a bad day, but I wouldn't sit in his section again. He didn't refill the chips and seemed bothered when we asked. They probably need a chips/salsa runner like Gloria's. We needed additional napkins and our replacements were the paper towels from the restroom. I'd expect much different, better service when paying for. $100+ tab. We will give it another go, but unfortunately IF I am placed with the same waiter, I'd ask to move as it was that bad. read more

it was packed. and i have no idea why. the wait was super long. our server didnt know what a latte was and it was on the menu. and also he said he didnt eat the food there. so that was a sign to leave. the food was literally awful. taco bell would have been better. it took forever and the meat was dry and chewy and just plain gross. the eggs were rubbery and the food was cold to top it all off. the drinks were fine. but that was our first and last time there. so good luck bcuz you'll need all u can get. read more

Our group really liked the food and excellent service; the restaurant is clean and spacious! We had the lunch plates and combination fajitas, which is overcooked a bit. Waited over an hour for lunch (on our third attempt to eat there!) until my dad went into a diabetic episode due to low sugar. We came here for dinner and happy hour. The margarita was fresh squeezed, no mix, it was so good! We then ordered queso for an appetizer which was so cheesy and good - heads up this is not your normal queso, it is more like melted cheese in a skillet. The food passed my expectations it was really hot and super tasty when it arrived to the table, the queso for an appetizer is the way to go! My waiter also contributed to an amazing experience, making me feel welcome, answering all my questions about the menu, giving out good recommendations to my family and I. Every employee was wearing masks and gloves. Also disposable menus were given. Our server was very attentive, couldn't recall her name. The chips and salsa and queso were the only good thing about our visit.The menu has some variety or common Tex-mex dishes but is so overpriced. The portions are adequate and come with big, heavy plates. Paid $18 before tip for one beef taco salad, that was 75% cheese. The plates themselves were beautifully hand-painted, did I mention heavy? One cocky employee, who I believe was named "Alex" was rude and disrespectful to my mom over a miss understanding about mask etiquette. We went there today to find out they had a soft opening so we had a little bit of wait due to the way they handled the soft opening but it was not an issue whatsoever. The food is incredible it is some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. I had the Carne Asada and shrimp.The Carne Asada was definitely the best Carne asada I have had and the shrimp was excellent as well. Rick at the bar gives you great service and great drinks. I'm a Tex-Mex girl through and through. It's my go-to fare when I want to step out of the house and take a break from cooking. We came early on a Sunday, thinking we beat the church crowd. Wrong. They are open for brunch so there was already a huge crowd. The entire place was packed. We were quoted 45 minutes but was finally seated closer to one hour. From the outside this place looks huge. I was quite disappointed to see that it felt quite small and compact. From the entry, there's a long aisle of waiting area. There were 3 separate dining areas from what I could see and the bar area is huge. In the dining area we were seated, they had carpeting. Carpeting? Isn't that kind of weird? We have kids and all I could think about was all the food that lands on the floor. You can easily sweep up around a table but with carpet? I don't see you vacuuming after every table? I haven't quite worked out the logistics of a carpeted dining area in my mind. Our server was nice but definitely seemed busy. We had to ask for things a couple of times. My order came out wrong and she grabbed the floor manager and he was quick to act on it. I was feeding my 12 month old out of my plate and I asked if I could just take the beans for the little guy while we wait even longer for my food to be corrected, he happily obliged and I appreciated that. As far as food goes, it was good. This place is definitely on the pricey and fancy side so it could be a good place to go to when you're celebrating something special but I'd be leery about the really long wait with a big group. Just had one of the most stressful meals I have had in a long time. We arrived at 8:20 pm and we had to wait for someone to come to the front desk to seat us. Then when we asked for a table on the patio Ray told us there were no tables cleaned outside. We asked if we could get one cleaned and he said okay. After we waited 5 minutes outside a young man did come out and clean them. There were only two tables outside where people were eating the rest were just dirty and empty. After he cleaned the table we sat down and when the waiter came out he said the kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes and he would appreciate it if we could order quickly. Let me remind you they do not close until 9. We hurried to order while he got us our drinks. He brought us chips and salsa but no napkins or silverware. We ordered quickly and while we waited for our food the manager Austin came out and said that someone told her a manager needed to come to our table. We did not ask for one. I guess Ray knew we were not happy with the way he treated us and our wait. I explained to her that our waiter wanted us to hurry and that he informed us the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes and we did not understand because we made sure we were there in plenty of time. She said that we were seated in plenty of time and if she could give us some queso. I told her we were not looking for anything free but were thought to be a pain in the ass to everyone for even being there from the moment we entered the door. She apologized, but things just proceeded to get worse. The waiter bought our food out and then laid the check down letting us know he wanted us out of there as soon as possible. We asked for silverware and napkins so we could eat and get out of his way. He brought them out to us but in a complete feeling that our presences was an inconvenience. Austin came back to our table and asked how everything was and I told her we are still an inconvenience to the waiter. She did not even notice that he delivered our check with the food and I pointed that out to her. She said she did not have time to talk to him. I told her he wants to go home and he needs to go home. I have never been so uncomfortable. She said she was going to take our teas off the bill. Do you think I care about the price of the tea when our entire meal and experience is spoiled. Again I said I did not want anything free just a nice evening. Needless to say, because we were hurried to order and eat, the food did not taste very good and we took most of it home. I will probably throw it out because nachos don't keep well and it will just be leftover beans and rice from my friends order. It's such a beautiful patio and the evening was so nice and clear. We wanted to have a calm evening of dinning with drinks, but I just ordered nachos to make it fast. The nachos were not very good. Seriously they tasted funny and another reason I took most home. In our experience before, during the day, I had the hatch chicken enchiladas with tacos on the side and they were great, but tonight the nachos tasted funny. I actually wondered about the safety of the food since we were an inconvenience for the kitchen and the staff. I was a nervous wreak and so was my friend. I do not think we will go back again. Before we had such a great experience where people seemed to care. When we dined there before in the late afternoon, the woman at the desk greeted us as we entered the door. She bragged about the quality of the food and how she cared about the cleanliness and quality of service. I wish she would have been there tonight. Tonight we had to wait until Ray decided he would finally come to the front to seat us or we were not going away. Our bill was 33 bucks (remember we had to make a quick choice due to the pressure of the kitchen closing) and I still tipped him 6 bucks. I don't believe in treating others poorly because they do not know how to behave. We were out of there before the other customers on the patio who were there when we arrived. I am still very upset. We are still nervous wrecks for something that should have been so pleasant and relaxing. We drive from Plano to go there. I use to recommend this place to others but will no longer. Don't go in there 40 minutes before their posted closing time. In fact, spend your money somewhere else where they actually want you to dine. Austin was very nice and appeared concerned, but it did not change our experience, the waiters rushed behavior or the poor quality of the food. While I don't mind paying a-little more at a nice restaurant, I thought prices here are outrageous ! $49 fajitas takes me out of even considering going back. Today was ourThirrd trip to a Lupe's. First at their Irving location which had just opened. They heavily promoted their Fajitas. We ordered them in spite of their high price. Meat was good but chewy! Sides we just ok, service was fair, Thought Oh well they just opened! Then a new one opened in Allen!. We waited three weeks and being a glutton for punishment we decided to try again. Surprise! The service was good, the Fajitas were tender, the sides were a little better, the overpriced Margaritas were good, all in all it was a good dining experience Today we we're hungry for Mexican food..Glorias, Uncle Julios.....Decided in Lupe's again and we had a repeat of our first Irving visit..mediocre service (45 minutes to get our meal)chewy beef, bland sides, and watery Margaritas. Don't bring a party larger than six or you can't sit together. And then if you let them know you can split and sit at tables next to each other their hosts are not smart enough to make it happen. Four tables opened all next to each other and folks just walking in were seated filling those tables so we were stuck back waiting for a six-topper to seat nine people. Maybe they should have continued their "soft-opening" until hosts learned how to seat people. Very frustrating. Still waiting after an hour and fifteen minutes and folks walking in are still getting seated and filling potential tables we could be using! Our server completely ruined any hope of us coming back to this chain. From the minute she realized she was going to serve us she was visibly upset (we were some of the only guests in the building at 3 PM on a weekday) and she rolled her eyes at my kids when they asked her for tortillas and again when we mentioned the free ice cream that comes with the kid's meals. Even though she took forever to bring our drinks and come back to check and see if we were ready to order, once we were ready rushed us to get our order in and we could tell she would've rather been anywhere except at our table. Very good experience over all. We enjoyed steak, shrimp and sausage fajitas and they were delicious. Our favorite was the steak. Their fresh made tortillas are amazing and the beans are some of the best around. Our server was kind and managed a big crowd well. I seldom give a 1 star review, but it's warranted with lupe tortilla. Went about first week into opening. Tried weeks before but Staff was being trained, thiswent on for several weeks. Like everyone else we went around 3pm to avoid what we thought may be a rush. Place was packed and we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. We decided to sit at the bar. Again we understand the newness of staff and all, they were definately in the weeds. While there were many empty seats at bar it was a mess with dirty dishes. Three bartenders. Three bartenders...Wait time to get a menu, 15 minutes. Wait time for a drink , 1 drink, a bottle beer nothing fancy 15 more minutes, but hey at the 30 minute mark we had chips and salsa, ok were rolling now. After 30 min our order is in. I will not go into the whole bar scenario other than to say for a place to have spent a long amount of time in "Training " they need a MAJOR refresher, several unsanitary things going on. Ok, first of all, the wait is unacceptably way way too long.... and only for 2 people before the peak dinner period even started. Next, way way way way, did I mention way - over priced for the pathetic value of their food. Ordered Carne Asada-Chicken Grill didn't come with anything special and quite stingy with condiments and the meat was way over cooked, gristly full of cartilage and gross. Next, they brought me another piece of meat that when you touched it, it would wobble like jello and when I cut into to it, it was like all fat and again disgusting. My meal was the worst I've ever had. So we ended up paying for just one meal for my wife after, an arm wrestling - are you kidding - you want to charge me for my meal that 90% of it is chewed on and now setting on the side piled up! Gross! At the end the one meal for my wife cost $37.61 which would have been double for 2 people to eat gross and disgusting Mexican food, that you can enjoy elsewhere for much much much - did I say much less. Avoid this pitiful spot for anything, it is a waste of money and I'll never go back and will tell everyone I know about this place! Avoid it... read more
