I'll be honest,, it's pretty hard to impress me with Mexican food. I was raised in California, where I had had neighbors, whose parents and grandparents made some of the best food I've ever had in my life. Living in Texas I've seen some good and I've seen some not so great so I never really get enthused because nothing ever really stands out. Lupe tortilla; right here in Allen, was a difference maker. When I walked in, I could smell the difference. We were greeted immediately, and the service was impeccable, our server was attentive and explained any questions we had on the menu and made suggestions, but was not too intrusive. I think right now is a great time to mention how delicious the salsa was, you get chips, salsa, and a little container of pinto beans with something in them that I can't explain other than magic. I was fearful that I might stuff myself to content before my meal was ordered. My friend has been here before and order the fajitas, I typically ordered enchiladas my first time at any Mexican restaurant just to gauge where they stand. We both had big gigantic margaritas as well, and they did not disappoint. The food was delicious, I couldn't stop staring at my friend fajitas either, which looked as though they could feed a family. The feel there is very relaxed and family oriented, so I was able to have a great seat and have a great conversation with a friend in a very relaxing clean location that had great service. Weekend brunch at Lupe's is a must. Brunch runs Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-2pm, and it's the perfect excuse to order some Tex-Mex favorites and pancakes. The ambiance is lively but relaxed, great for a casual weekend brunch, and the service is always friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. My all-time favorite is the Eggs & Enchiladas plate--you can choose beef or cheese, and it never disappoints. If you don't know what to get, try this!! We also tried the Barbacoa Benedict, topped with a lime-chili hollandaise that was pretty good. Lupe Tortilla is a great restaurant with delicious food. Unfortunately, the service is the worst part. Ambiance: It's a very large restaurant, but there's sometimes still a wait to be seated. The service is quite poor, it can be difficult to get the server's attention. On a positive note, the salsa served at the start is amazing, and the warm bean salsa is unique and surprisingly good! Chili Con Queso: The chili con queso is very tasty. It's not spicy at all and has a creamy, almost cream cheese like flavor. It tastes like a classic yellow cheese sauce. Grandioso Fajitas: This dish includes chicken, steak, and shrimp. It is a very generous portion that can easily feed two to three people. We were able to feed three and still had leftovers. It comes with a small bowl of rice and beans. It felt a bit unusual since most Mexican restaurants provide either individual portions or a larger serving to share. It was my first time to any of these and overall was impressed. They were short staffed so we couldn't sit outside but even with the shorter staffing our server was very attentive. They start you off with beans and salsa and their chips are freshly made. For an appetizer we got the Queso Flamedo and it was a beautiful mix of melted cheese with chorizo and fresh tortillas that made you want more. For an entree I ordered the Original Burrito. Unlike other burritos they put all the "fixings" on the side so the burrito itself is just beans and meat. It was a great size for the cost and was cooked perfectly. We met up with some friends at this location. Our server was really engaging and did a great job making our experience a positive one. The atmosphere is festive and what you'd expect from a Tex-Mex restaurant. My husband and I each had a margarita. He did the house version which had a lot for the larger size, but he said he didn't really taste any tequila. They made me a skinny margarita with mezcal. It was delicious. For dinner I went with the Poblano Chicken. I appreciated the focus was stuffing the pepper with chicken and cheese rather than rice (which was served on the side). The flavor was great and the portion size worked for me to have enough for dinner and some to take home. My husband went with The Pablo Patron. We recently visited Lupe (we go there roughly once per month). The food was really good, as usual, as were the top shelf margaritas. The highlight though was our server, Jessica. She was warm and welcoming, made some good suggestions for dinner, was attentive throughout the meal even anticipating our needs. Hubby and I went in for the first time for a late lunch. Everyone was so nice and welcoming! We were treated to a small steak fajita sample since it was our first visit. Simply delicious! Our waitress was fantastic. She tried very hard to cater to our vegan needs. We ordered the spinach burritos. Guacamole, rice, beans and flour tortillas. The spinach in our burritos were packed with white cheese. So we ended up eating rice, avocado and tortillas due to the beans and guacamole being too spice. Oh.My.Gosh! This place was amazing! We loved everything we tried. We got there about 4:30pm on a Friday. Sat at the beautiful bar. Our bar tender Levi was pleasant and served us immediately. He did give a few recommendations and they were spot on. We were celebrating a friend's birthday. Ghost tequila margaritas are fabulous. The manager heard it was our friends first time there and he brought us a small (3 tiny tortilla)sampling of beef fajitas. Very tasty. We ordered queso as an appetizer and Levi suggested adding ground beef. We did and loved it. Chips came with salsa and a small whole bean dip with ham? cooked into them. I would order a whole bowl of those beans. Lol. We ordered beef fajitas for our entree and our friend got the crab stuffed shrimp. We all sampled each other's plates. Everything tasted fresh. No complaints at all. Finished the night with tres leches cake and the manager sent over some flan for the birthday boy. Really fun evening. This place got packed pretty quick. So, if (when) you go arrive early. Food was coming out of the kitchen fast. We will definitely be back to try some different entrees, even though we loved everything we ate. Took a family group of 7 there this past Sunday and will never be back. First the service was slow to take our orders and the food slow to come out but hey they were busy. When the food came out only 4 orders were served. By the time the next 3 orders came out the other 4 were just finishing. The 3 tardy orders were a a Chili Rellano, a bowl or Chicken Tortiila Soup and a Taco Salad. Not major cullinary masterpieces. To top it off the soup was luke warm and the omelette surrounding the chili rellano was cold and only partially cooked. It was sent back and since most of the party was finished eating I told them to just forget it and we left. Never again. There are too many Mexican restaurants in Allen that care about good service and proper food preparation! read more

I should've paid attention to the other reviews that the service was subpar, but I thought 'well I'm going after lunch rush so shouldn't be too bad' ... boy was I wrong! There wasn't very many tables and from what I can tell the server only had 3 tables. We did have a good 3-5 minutes without being approached when we got there. She argued with me about a side of fries and never refilled our water. Was trying to take my daughter's plate away from her after she said no. Overall the food was good, but was disappointed that they told me they didn't have the carnitas tacos ready. The decor is pretty stellar, lots of Mexican inspired decor. Would I go back? Really delicious. When we got there, we were sat immediately. We chose to sit on the patio, but they have big fans and it's nice and shaded so it was very comfortable. The food was delicious drink drinks were very good too and priced reasonably. The decor and ambience was spot on. This one makes it into our top two of Mexican restaurants. I definitely recommend it! Also, the chips and bean appetizer they give you for free is insanely delicious. I could honestly make a meal out of that alone. read more

I love the food when it's done right! Most of the staff are pleasant- front hostesses are not welcoming , management leave little to be desired! I hold interviews there to make a point of what they see and learn what they would do to make a difference even though I'm not in the restaurant business. Terrible service and overpriced menu. Ordered the 1lb Fajita Trio. Waited an hour to get food. I had to wave down our server to check on our food. He barely visited our table after he took our order. Asked for corn and flour tortilla but only got flour. When we politely asked what happened to our food, he got the manager. The manager came by and said the kitchen lost the ticket and that the food should come out shortly. It took another 15 minutes. The manager or waiter didn't apologize or even offer to comp us for the inconvenience. Taste of food was, meh. Not coming back to this place. This was a major FAIL! The tortillas looked and tasted like Chipotle tortillas and not hand made tortillas. If they were hand made the meal would have been fire. Went there this weekend while on travel, and man it was just what we were looking for. If you have not ordered the Chicken Lupe Del Mar, I would highly encourage it. One of my favorite dishes. Went with some friends and they ordered the crab and avocado enchiladas - again, fantastic. Had the option to sit outside, which was quite nice and not too loud. The ribs and fajitas were stellar! The ribs had a TON of meatttt and I only got through like 5 of them and had to take the rest of them to go, making my cost per meal lower the ribs were juicy and super flavorful. The only thing I wish was that they had some bbq sauce on the side, but that's a personal preference. The server at the bar was pretty busy so they never were able to fill up my water for the hour and a half we were there so that was kinda rough. And the ambiance was cool, it was very Tex-mex-y which is what we wanted, so overall 6/10 read more

Can you call a Mexican restaurant bland? Well this was some of the most boring and bland food I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. The only thing I sorta liked was the chips and dip! That almost never happens. I left almost all my food:(. The beans were boring and the tacos fell apart and were boring too. I used my fork to eat the stuffings. It was almost all cheese. I did eat that. Nothing was memorable. That's sad. All I do remember is my server calling me "mama" the entire visit. Which I was ok with. Kinda endearing. Let me start off by saying our waitress was amazing. It was my first time here and she went out of her way to recommend items and be super kind. The queso was delicious. I had a frozen strawberry marg which was decent. We ended up sharing the chicken and beef fajitas. I had really high expectations for the tortillas but they fell short. They were tough and maybe overcooked, I'm not sure but they were hard to bite through for the fajita. I know they make them in house, so I was expecting top tier. The fajitas overall were good, but nothing that would make me come back for more. I would come back but next time try something easy like the quesadillas. read more
