I began to eat them and they did not taste very good, so then I began to try and scrape the charred part off the surface of the meat. When I mentioned it to the waiter all he said is 'I am sorry'. This place wasn't the place my friends and I were originally planning on going to dinner. The other place had such a long wait that we changed course because we had tickets for a show later that evening. It was like divine intervention or something though. LOL. This is the best Tex-Mex I've ever had. My partner and I split the 1lb fajitas trio (shrimp, beef and chicken) which could have easily been split between 3 people. It came with SO MUCH FOOD. The homemade corn tortillas were life-changing and the meat was so tender and delicious. We got a lot of meat and not just a ton of onions and peppers like at most places. Both of our margaritas were delicious as were the queso, salsa, and quad we all shared as a table. The parking situation outside was atrocious (which is just that area of town as my friends from the area have told me) but the restaurant itself had a cute vibe, even though it was packed on a Friday night. We WILL be back next time we are in town to visit and I'll be dreaming of those homemade tortillas until then. read more

Went for a birthday celebration for 9 but restaurant was unable to guarantee us a table unless we were 10 or more. We agreed to bring ten, but they didn't believe us. We got a horrible long table that had a wall on 2 sides. Service was slow even though the restaurant wasn't full. I was in town on business and this place was close to my hotel. I was in the mood for fajitas and this place did not disappoint! I went about 7pm on a Tuesday night and it was reasonably busy. I got the Asada & Shrimp plate which was excellent. The food came out quickly and was very hot and fresh. Portion size was perfect and I actually couldn't eat it all. The fajita meat had a great flavor and was super tender. The shrimp was excellent....Houston restaurants always have the best fresh shrimp dishes! In addition to the food, the service was excellent. The waiter, Joshua, was friendly and had a great attitude. He made sure I was happy with my meal and checked on me regularly. A manager even stopped by to ensure everything was perfect. The prices are a tad high, but I don't mind for this type of meal and service. It was well worth it. I'll definitely be back next time I am in H Town. read more

I have often used this phrase to describe the beef fajitas at Lupe: "life altering!" They are literally the most tender and flavorful beef fajitas you will ever taste. The flavor is lime-y, so unless you just don't like lime, you'll love them! This Lupe Tortilla is also a great place for groups. If you call ahead, they will make sure to have a table set up for you. Which is perfect for my large family. Birthdays are also a great thing to celebrate here. They bring out a big sombrero and some birthday flan and sing to you while your friends and family cheer along. And let's not forget the delicious chips, served with beans and salsa. And if you ask nicely, they'll bring out their original, chunkier, spicier salsa as well! Overall, this is one of my favorite places to eat. read more

With my latest order, the portion sizes were noticeably significantly less than my previous order, yet the same price which is already kind of expensive for what you get. We went Saturday night with friends. It was busy but we were seated right away. The table where they wanted to seat us would have had 2 of us facing a wall so we requested a 4 top table and they accommodated. The table turned out to be ridiculously small for us with 4 drinks, chips, waters and the fajita thing they bring that looks like a pizza stand. I dragged my sweater through my guac because it was so tight! The waiter brought 3 mini fajita samples even though there were 4 of us. I think it's nice they bring you a sample but when I asked for one more the waiter said he could only bring 3? WTH? later another waiter brought an extra but we had already divided (not easily) the 3. Why bother if you can't bring one piece of meat on a mini tortilla for each person? As I recalled from visits many years ago the margaritas have very leetle Tequeela in them (using their cutesy lingo). Things have not changed in that department. Even the top shelf has minimal alcohol. You can get a much better margarita in so many other places. The food is decent, fajitas and shrimp pretty good. Chips and hot sauce ok but the red sauce is heavy on pepper and would have been better with more tomato and onion flavor. The restaurant is EXTREMELY noisy and lots of little kids which doesn't thrill me when I'm trying to eat dinner with friends. Makes conversation difficult. Probably won't be back. I do appreciate their no mask requirement so I'll give them props for that. read more

Weekday work lunch and picked a Texmex place nearby and went to Lupes. We got hatch queso (pretty great) and guacamole for apps. Beef fajita for the entree with flour tortillas. Excellent taste, their fajitas are obviously super overpriced but at least they are tasty. The server was very friendly and the dining in was actually quite busy. I came here for dinner the other night, and had amazing Tex-Mex food. This restaurant is very large and there are multiple locations throughout Houston, Texas. This location in particular I really enjoy it because the layout is very large, they are festive string lights that make you feel like you're in Mexico, and the wait staff is very friendly. I got the table side guacamole, which was very delicious, and the Carnitas tacos, which had a bit too much onion in it. The portions are a very large, so come hungry! Overall, the food was really good, especially the sauces they give you. The drinks are also reasonably price at around $11 for a margarita. read more

Admission: I love Tex-Mex. That stated I am probably harder on Tex-Mex establishments; however, Lupe has perfected fajitas. I'm a beef / chicken guy but the shrimp are also good. I recommend going hungry and starting with either nachos or chili con queso (cheese dip), mixing said with the salsa and bean dip served with corn chips, then fajitas. I never can make it to dessert as I fill up on the aforementioned. The margaritas are fantastic so be bold and go for it! read more

This location always has horrible customer service. I came in today took a seat a bar and just sat while bartender talked to all the other waiters. Finally gave me a a head nod. Waited longer went to restroom bartender told me he was going to get my chips I come back from restroom he is carrying drinks to a table it seems like he would ask one of the three waiters he talked to bring my chips and ask what I would like to drink. Lupe is always a good idea, and this particular location has a nice patio seating area. I have a thing for the tortilla chips, beans and salsa for the table of this restaurant. The tortillas are thin and crispy; the beans salsa is always warm, and the salsa is more chunky and less saucy. Also, do yourself a favor and order the corn tortillas! They are not your regular corn tortillas... I usually have the fajitas or the quesadillas. The steak fajitas are my favorite, we usually order 1/2lb for 2 adults and 2 small kids. The margaritas are OK. Some days they make them stronger than other days, I guess it depends on the bartender. Service is very good and fast. One of my favorite Tex Mex places in Houston. The food is usually quick to come out. And the service is pretty good. Friendly staff. Usually get the pepper chicken (substitute cheddar for jack cheese) and it fills me up. Generous chicken breast, perfectly cooked. The fajitas are good too, but a little on the pricey side. Just wish they served queso blanco. And I'd be all in with 5 stars! read more
