My boyfriend and I loved the Lupe's in Dana Point and we wanted to go to a closer location. We ordered 4 birria tacos with consome ($14 for 2 tacos, $28 total). However, the tacos lacked flavor and the consome was lukewarm. We were really disappointed because we came in with such high expectations from the other location. Service was pretty mid--we weren't welcomed upon entrance and the staff member was preoccupied with another task while taking our order. We sat at the tables outside and the area was pretty clean. First off the food is really good. Especially on Tuesday and Wednesday when they have the taco cart. The rest of the menu is on par with the taco cart too. Next up is the staff. All of the staff is pleasant, happy, and so helpful. It's honestly a breathe of fresh air eating here and interacting with their staff. We used to go Nextdoor a lot to Eureka for burgers but the staff is absolute trash entitled useless servers and bar tenders. A few years ago it was good but management changed and wherever they sourced their hamburger meat changed. Their hamburgers are equivalent to McDonald's in the 1990's. This is not the first Lupes I've eaten at, but I think it is my favorite! Located in an increasingly popular mini-mall style area that has a Trader Joe's, a Eureka! Grill, as well as a new 99 Ranch Market, it is in prime real estate in Aliso Viejo, and has ample parking in a large parking lot nearby. This Lupe's has a full bar set up towards the back of the restaurant, an OK amount of indoor seating with booths as well as tables that can accommodate various group sizes, and a beautiful little patio. Food is mostly fast food style where you have a walk up counter to order and for to-go orders, but if you are eating in, the food will be delivered to your table. As per all Lupe's, there are lots of options including: tacos, ceviche, bowls, burritos, Kids meals, and various other Mexican California style items. The flavors are excellent, there are vegetarian as well as seafood and meat options, and everything is tasty. This Lupe's also has a coffee bar, which makes a pretty fantastic iced Horchata coffee. I love the vibe, the customer service has always been pleasant, and this location makes the best chicken bowl that I've had at almost any Mexican eatery in a while. I recently moved away from this area, but it is good enough that I think I will be coming every once in a while just for a coffee and a bowl. read more

Lupe's Mexican Eatery started in San Diego and now has multiple locations across the Southern California area. This location is in Aliso Viejo next to Trader Joe's in a plaza with ample parking. We ordered the California burrito ($16) and the campechana fries ($18). The burrito was really good and creamy and my only complaint is I wish it was bigger. The fries came with half al pastor and half steak which were both good and portioned well. The fries were also crispy and well-seasoned, and the food was packed pretty full to the box. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and the inside has tables, booths, and TVs. There was also a salsa station on the side with three good salsas. I've given this place plenty of chances -- I've been there at least ten times -- and every single time they've gotten my burrito order wrong. Even after double-checking with the cashier A female manager abd a male manager, clearly explaining how I wanted it, they still don't get it right. All I ever order is the steak congo burrito. Added sour cream. Add guacamole. Every time, I get home and find no sour cream, no guac, and barely any steak. It's incredibly frustrating that they can't follow such SIMPLE instructions.
