This review is for 5/11/25. As much as I've hung out on that street, I've never been to this place. I ordered an old fashioned and the Di Patate Pizze with pepperoni and removed the potato's. The pizza was actually really good and fulfilling. Apparently they have a speakeasy behind the bar that leads to this huge space down in the anemones with a bar and several tables and couches to sit comfortably. There was only the manager who acted as the bar tender and three other people with us. Definitely gave a great intimate vibe that I'd like to enjoy again in the future. The manger did make me a cosmopolitan that was STRONG and addictive. Overall I enjoyed the staff and the atmosphere.

Overall this is a solid Italian place. Both entrees were about 22 dollars each which isn't an insane price for dinner in DC. Had the diavola which i wish was a bit spicer since it was advertised as a spicy pizza. But the cheese on it was great! The gnocchi was delicious and the crispy bread dipped in the sauce was amazing. I want to return for their happy hour for sure.

OVERALL: good pizza, good service. Worth the visit FOOD: we got the Diavola and Carbonara 2.0 pizzas and Vendura panini. The Carbonara was way too heavy. And a bit salty. I don't think it works well as a pizza. I'm surprised that it was one of the popular options - per the waiter. I was only able to eat one slice and I felt sick and bloated the next morning. Way too much cheese. The Diavola was super good though - a classic pizza. My friend liked her veggie panini. SERVICE: quick and efficient. Friendly servers! VENUE: small but enough seating and super cute. Looks like an upscale pizza parlor

Excellent pizza with unique toppings! The atmosphere wasn't too noisy and staff were friendly & attentive. All ingredients were fresh and high quality!

Solid spot for amazing food - I had a yummy pepperoni pizza and a tasty salad...it's definitely lean more authentic, like you can't order ranch dressing. The chicken parm looked AMAZING too. It felt a bit crowded but other than that good vibe. Annoying there's no happy hour, but solid spot for a delicious dinner.

Came here for a birthday brunch and had a wonderful time! We all ordered different brunch pizzas and they were amazing. I chose the Uova e Pancetti pizza, which was a cheese pizza with eggs and bacon pieces baked on top. The eggs were nice and the yolks were a little runny, the back was crispy and worked well. Definitely a "breakfast style" pizza. Since we were a larger group, our food took a little while to make because we all ordered pizzas, but the service was great. The mimosas were plenty and one person in our party who wasn't drinking got a very pretty mocktail from the bar. The atmosphere wasn't too busy or crowded and works well for our group. I would come back again for sure.

    Margherita Rivisitata

Overall, a good experience. My friend and I came here on a recent busy Saturday night and amazingly were able to get a table for two without a reservation without a wait. A huge shoutout to the host who went above and beyond trying to find us seats, even asking the bartender to tell people to move down a seat so we could sit together. The ambiance goes for an upscale, classy vibe, with dozens of higher-end liquor bottles, soft lighting, white tablecloths, and wood. However, it was extremely loud and I had to significantly raise my voice in order for my friend to hear me. My friend and I ordered and shared the margherita rivisitata pizza, which is only one of two vegetarian pizza on the menu that I saw (there are three vegan options). Note that the menu available online does not reflect the current menu. The pizza itself was good but could have been better. The crust was excellent and there was a good cheese-sauce ratio. However, the sauce could have been more flavorful, the cheese had not completely melted, and the basil was inadequate. Despite the busy restaurant, my friend and I received quality, friendly service, including being able to place and receive our order in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Lupo Pizzeria, albeit for a less-busy weeknight.

It's a cute spot transporting you to Italy, and always ask for Gonzalo when you go in! He's hilarious and makes a mean drink! I've worked in the service industry for 10+ years and it's clear they're understaffed since on multiple occasions I see him as acting host, server, food runner and bartender, but I just wanted to shine a light on an employee who goes above and beyond to keep things afloat and is a true team player! Brought my little sister in recently and he made her feel so special hahaha she was bragging to her friends! So I'd always recommend coming to see him and for the best espresso martinis!

Fungo al tartufo - delicious balsamic glaze, background - penne pesto pasta
    Rick S.

Very good pizza, decent dessert, nice service, so-so ambiance. We had a shrimp pesto and fungi al tartufo between us. The balsamic glaze on the pizza was an excellent sweet touch to counter the salty cheese and rich mushrooms - really appreciated the pizza. The shrimp pesto pasta was good and surprisingly filling. We went for zeppole ripiene and tiramisu for dessert. Could've used more nutella spread on the zeppole (was craving them to be filled with it, but just dough over a nutella layer). The tiramisu was legit - nice expresso taste and decent amount of mascarpone. Wished the restaurant would've been a little warmer (it was below freezing and snowing when we went), and not a fan of the music they had blasting Friday. Otherwise, a shout-out to the good server & yum food.

We came on a weekend after the bar so it was a limited "late night" menu. We got the Margherita rivisitata and funghi. Both were good, and service was fast. The pizzas had a nice crisp at the bottom. Both pizzas were enough for 6 people, and I think one pizza would be good for 2 people.

a much needed calamari and za after Saturday fun-day at @lupopizzeriadc on fourteenth street, NW, DC started with the fried calamari (my current food hyperfixation) and @lupopizzeriadc grilled lemon and aioli COME CORRECT -- but I still left some room for a few bites of the margherita pizza loaded with tomato sauce, buffalo campana and fresh basil went to bed with a full tummy & no regrets

    Carbonara 2.0, tartufata

Seating inside is very packed so you might even touch elbows with the table next to you but I think that's the whole point of Lupo. The cozy, family-like ambience makes for a perfect date night! Service was very familial, it seemed like the older lady was the manager/my aunt lol. She was so personable and was quick to take care of our order/needs. The pizzas were great! two pizzas were more than filling for two people who can really REALLY eat. I preferred the mushroom/truffle one over the Carbonara as the latter got a little too heavy really quick. Next time, I definitely want to try a pasta and a spicier pizza!

Amazing pizza. Probably some of the best in DC. Never been inside but they gave away free pizza during World Pride 2025 right outside.

That month I had started Uber driving, was in this area of DC, had heard good things about Wiseguy, and decided to eat here. Although I don't like paying to park just to simply eat a meal, I sometimes will make an exception for convenience and/or if it's a place I really want to go. But for the most part, I'll go to restaurant where they have free parking or at least I can find free parking near the restaurant. I remembered getting a parking spot very close and feel like I feed the meter like 50 cents in 2014 parking prices for a quick 30 minute meal. They have all kinds of varieties of slices from the standard toppings or just cheese to fancy ones. Although the pizza is fairly thin, but average for New York style pizza. I tried Andy's Pizza 11 years later in 2025, and while it was solid although not as good as Wiseguy, my real complaint with Andy's was that the pizza is very thin, where I was hungry very soon later; so a much worse value as pricing is comparable to Wiseguy. Wiseguy slices are big, and the pizza is top notch New York style. I went to this location a couple of more times after my initial August 2014 visit as I loved the pizza. Then, they opened up other locations. I went to Navy Yard one at least twice, once after a Nationals baseball game after a disappointing loss for my 4th favorite baseball team, Texas Rangers. Sorry Nats fans, but Nats are in my bottom 10 teams. I also went to Rosslyn & Pentagon City location, where parking isn't quite as bad. They even had a Wheaton Mall food court location, which I got to experience once, but they sadly closed. Every experience with Wiseguy has been positive.

I grab and use in their entirety both the orange-y hot sauce and the green sauce every time while adding hatch chiles to the simplistico burrito. I don't know if I'm selecting well or if it's maybe just low key the ultimate style of pizza but this is yet another fantastic example. It's just a small, quick takeout place for the most part, though there is some seating outside when the weather is appropriate. As such, service is generally to the point which is fine by me.

This Is Detroit-Style Pizza, So Don't Expect New York Style. It's Thick, With A Generous Amount Of Mozzarella Cheese & Tomato Sauce. Honestly, It Almost Felt Like A Cheesy Bread Situation But In A Good Way. The Crust Was Buttery With A Slight Crisp On The Outside & Soft Inside, Which Was The Perfect Balance. When we first walked in, the cashier immediately apologized for the long wait times, thanked everyone for their patience, and let us know they were incredibly short staffed with only two people working. Because the tiny interior was already packed, we decided to leave and do some sightseeing first. However, seeing how good the pizza looked we knew we had to come back later that afternoon. There's no negative details in my review. Nothing but positive things and a small recommendation. 1. Staff and Service I really appreciated the cashier's honesty about running behind right off the bat. That allowed us to make an informed choice rather than get frustrated by a long wait. More businesses could learn from this! 2. Restaurant's Layout The inside is a bit tight and busy, but it's located in a smaller older building, so they have no other options. Since they can't expand the inside adding an outdoor pub height counter for eating, a bench or some seating out front would be a great way to give waiting patrons a place to sit. Also a place to eat. 3. The Pizza -The Veggie Pizza: My nephew and I both ordered this, and the slices were massive you'll see in my pics! They were honestly the largest slices I have ever seen! I love pizza and have eaten it in New York and Chicago, and my slice here held its own. It was loaded with a huge variety of vegetables. I requested to put mine through the oven twice to get the veggies warm and cooked because I noticed my nephew's slice looked like a warm salad on crust. So happy I did because it was delicious! The jalapeños were intensely spicy which is on me, since I'm a bit of a lightweight with spice! -The Meat Options: My son got the pepperoni and thought it was really good, and my husband got a supreme slice which he also said was good . 4. Price and pizza size- they're more expensive than a typical slice, but once you see those big ole slices in my pics you'll understand why. They can't even fit on a plate. They had to serve them to you in an actual pizza box! After reading my long review you're trying to find out if I would go back huh? Absolutely! If I ever in the area or stay at the Hilton DC again, I would definitely walk right on over and get a slice. You can feed a family of three on one slice! Adult and two small children!
