Rude and unprofessional. The night before my 9 am appointment, at 5:30 pm I received a text stating that they canceled my appointment. No call, no explanation, nothing. I was left stranded with no way to get my hair done the day before a big event. When I called just to ask what happened the receptionist said "we canceled your appointment because you did not show up." I said ummm no I can show you the text message. She's like "you were the keratin tips right?" NO. I give her my info, she puts me on hold and then comes back, "they said you called yesterday to cancel" at this point I just said "it's okay I'm no longer interested." Because I am not. If this is how they treat me before I've walked through the door and they've gotten my money I can't imagine becoming any sort of regular here. With the best prices ever!! Shauntice was my stylist (She is Wow) and Asheema (Most Amazing spirit and professionalism) were both the sweetest and we had a blast!! Went here last December because of the excellent reviews. Unfortunately I didn't have the same experience. Now I have to let my hair grow out at least for a whole year to get it fixed. Stylist (Leanna) does not know what she's doing. My hair is extremely choppy with short and long pieces of hair everywhere. No style a complete mess Do yourself the favor and look elsewhere. In December 2022, I came to the salon based off a recommendation. This review took so long because this was a painful process and I'm in a better place to discuss it. The environment was professional, clean and provided that luxurious feel usually Manhattan salons provide. I was greeted by the only person in the salon, Shamilka. She was very attentive and we quickly got into conversation about our shared identities of the Black Diaspora. She asked me why I came here and I told her I was told they worked well with natural hair and this was my first silk press in over 4 years. I'd been natural for 5 years. She agreed that it was important for proper upkeep as she was Dominican and knew how these salons poured chemicals or used excessive heat. She did a steam treatment putting various liquids in my hair. I didn't smell anything suspicious and of course because of everything she just said I began to trust her. We did a protein treatment before she blew my hair out. After she took the flatiron and I noticed her doing multiple passes especially at the top, before at the end going in with a hot comb. I've never flat-ironed my hair myself, but I do at least blow dry my hair really well monthly for protective styling. I felt as though the constant passes were too much because of the common phrase "one pass is enough", but she was the professional and seemed to know what she was doing. I loved my hair. The trim was well done and the silk press kept up. After 2 weeks I noticed my hair hadn't frizzed up, and I was like wow Shamilka did a bomb job. Obviously, too good of a job. 3 weeks later Jan 7, I washed my hair but my hair wasn't reverting and was shedding horribly. I didn't panic I knew it took a couple of washes. Tried various treatments before calling the salon for help. Ashema answered asking for photos (screenshots attached). She audibly gasped and told me that whoever did my hair did it incorrectly and my hair look damaged. She told me if I had already tried Aphogee then it was irreversible. She gave the manager Marlin and assistant manager Angela my number. Angela called me hours later and I could tell this was a white woman as she explained her hair texture wasn't the same and she wasn't experienced on it. She said she trusted Ashema's judgement and asked multiple times if I had done a touch up at home with a flatiron, which I denied. I knew better than that. She said she would push this up to Marlin. Marlin called me on Sunday evening frustrated as though I was bothering him. He sounded Caribbean and his customer service was extremely poor. I told him I need full compensation and would like the salon to give me a 2/3 protein treatments to try to repair as much as possible while my hair grew out. He said he can't lose money over this and the salon can't afford that. He would give me partial refund. I told him that's unacceptable as a black women who has spent thousands of dollars in treatments & hair products for this to happen. I was only requesting for the issue to be rectified & wasn't threatening a suit. He kept saying there had been a case the month prior and so maybe there was a malfunction with the hot tools and that the Spanish lady who this occurred to was happy to settle with 2 protein treatments. Aside from the disgusting attitude of the boss, it's telling of how they deal with issues. As a business owner myself, I understand that you can have small and major issues. It's how you respond and rectify it. I never received any apology which would have gone a long way. In the end, I got my full refund. I went three months later after covering my hair in wigs. My hair was still shedding with consistent protein treatments and flaking. The stylist I went to told my scalp look as tho a treatment as been left on. She neutralized my scalp and cut my hair. I've had healthy hair since. I hope Shamilka never does this to anyone again and that she was retrained on proper silk press procedure. read more

I've been going since the summer of 2023. And what was spectacular eventually ended up like most black owned businesses. Now, the stylists are awesome, but I noticed how the owners do not care about the employees. Those ladies work hard to get repeat customers, but to force them to do this with a skeleton crew just horrible. Not one time have these so-called owners showed up to see the vibe in the salon and to mingle with customers. Not one time have these owners created flyers for trying to find additional stylists so as to not overwork the ones that are there. So not only are the ladies doing their customers, but they need to stop handling the register as well because management is too lazy to hire someone to do that, which would free up the stylists. They say they take walk in, but you'll never be seen because there is no staff. It took me and my child 6 hrs to get our hair done, but only my child walked out with her hair done because the stylists were running frantic with appts. And STILL Shauntice & Vanessa managed to have every client leave there looking red carpet ready. If they happened to go out of business, I wouldn't be surprised because mgmt does not know how to operate one, and it shows. To Lusso's mgmt, if you ever start another business, learn from your big failures here, starting with the mismanagement of capital. And part of that capital is your stylists. I use to have my hair done many years ago at this location. It was adequate for an inexpensive basic wash and blow. But WOW this sure ain't that place. I booked on line after reading the reviews and seeing they offer Botox hair treatment. The experience was amazing. LeeAnna was my stylist. She was friendly,professional and confident in her skills. The inside is very clean and sanitized. They took that space where that old beauty salon was and gave it a top of the line makeover. The staff is very personable , patient, friendly and provided great services. hello ladies yes I am back writing about my experience at Lusso salon first time went amazing and the staff was so friendly the second time around fantastic the stylist helped me with my hair color of choice I wanted something different I got what I wanted and the right color tones I had trauma before from salons and I was a skeptic but took a leap of faith and this place rocks I love the atmosphere comfortable inviting all the staff wonderful willing to help give you advice on your hair texture took there time explaining the process so worth it ladies and they do more you have to check out the website they have specials all the time but for me, the important part was that they listen to your concerns making you feel comfortable I just want to say thank you for the two ladies who worked on my hair and making me feel just fabulous this will be my salon always read more
