But while they catered to other guests, my mom and I chose our nail colors. This was my first and only time going. I had a gift card. I showed them the GC when I arrived and when it was time to pay they said the computer would not allow them to use it. They said I could used it next time. I said I would like to use it that day b/c that was why I made the appt. She argued with me that I could use it next time. She held my credit card hostage for over 10 minutes while I asked for it back and offered to pay cash for the difference (figuring it was a computer problem that wouldn't allow her to charge the difference w/o a gift card). I explained that I was very late for another appointment and she didn't care to help me out. She continued to withhold my credit card. I finally walked out to my car to get cash. When I came back in my card was sitting next to the register and she had walked away. I put the cash down and took the credit card back. I will also say that both my fingernails and my toe nails chipped within 48 hours and I was away on vacation. Worst mani/pedi I've ever had. I think she did too many layers. read more

These nails were HORRIBLE, and charged me 60 dollars+ tip for uneven, chunky, mishshapen BLOCKS on my nails, absolutely foul set and didnt do any prep or cuticle care. They also charged 40 for clear gel nail polish on my boyfriend where they left his nails sharp, uneven, and made it so that they grew out weird and also cut him. 100+ dollars for awful work. Would avoid at all costs I have been going to this salon since it opened and have never had a problem until now. Two days after having a dip manicure and spending $52, the polish fell off of 5 of my nails. I approached the owner with this concern and she was rude and unprofessional stating I ruined my own nails- blaming me for my dip manicure falling off. I went in and requested a refund. She refused saying they never refund. They offered to redo it but I was not comfortable with them attempting again and ruining my nails. I've given up going here. It used to be great, but it's gone downhill the past year or more. The woman that was at the front desk seemed instantly annoyed with us. My daughter and I had booked appointments for spa pedicures and we were a few minutes early. I asked if I should check in on the iPad or with her and I got a snarky-toned "whatever....what's your name?" We picked out polish and were lead to our seats. My daughter's water was previously filled and tepid. She asked for warmer and was ignored. I told the woman (same woman from the front desk) that I liked very warm and was told she can't adjust it, it's set already. I've never had that response. My water was warm but barely. Our feet did not get a chance to soak at all. My daughter hadn't even dipped her second foot all the way in when she was told to put it up. Her nails were not clipped (her woman didn't ask) and her cuticles were pushed without soaking. My feet were in the water for less than 30 seconds before the same. My nails were clipped but badly filed after. The scrub/lotion for me was sub par, my daughter had oil put on her legs that was not taken off. She walked out literally greasy. My polish looks sub-par, same with my daughter. Inconsistent coverage, streaky. We paid for spa pedicures and the entire process took less than 20 mins, from walking in the door to walking out. I don't need an hour but that is ridiculously short for the amount we paid. My woman was unpleasant the entire time. Very short and snarky. She left me in the chair to dry and didn't come back. She eventually put another customer in the chair next to me and only after I tried to get my shoes did she grab them and shove them on my feet. Overall an extremely unpleasant experience. I felt talked about, annoyed at, and overall uncomfortable and left with a patchy, quick pedicure. I've given them plenty of chances to get back to what they used to be, but I'm done. read more

I have been to Luxotic numerous times and typically the service is fine but this time it was horrendous. The person who did my nails did not trim my cuticles or push them back. When I told her she needed to, she said they didn't need to be trimmed or pushed back. As you can see from the photos they needed to be pushed back and trimmed. Also the manicure is poorly painted. My daughter got the white polish in gel and it chipped the next day on many fingers. This has never happened. They tried to charge me for dazzle dry and I told them twice I did not get dazzle dry. Also, one of the workers fell very hard on the floor, and everyone ignored her. Just a really bizarre experience. I will not be returning. read more

First, the staff was extremely rude to me when there was a miscommunication between me asking for dip not tips. They kept harping on the fact I didn't want tips and talking about how I should have been more specific. Second, the manicure was rushed and my cuticles were not cut. I have had wonderful dip powder manicures from Luxotic in the past. For me, dip powder manicures usually hold up for 3-4 weeks. Unfortunately, my last Luxotic dip powder is already badly cracked and chipping after 10 days. The manicurist was rushed and distracted at the time; I didn't realize that could lead to cracks and chipping. (It seems like the service is unpredictable. Some manicurists are more careful, others less so.) When I called to see if they would be willing to redo it, they said their warranty is 7 days, no exceptions. I can understand if a manicurist has a bad day and something goes wrong with the manicure as a result. But I am so disappointed in their response to a problem. They are willing to lose a repeat customer rather than standing by their work and fixing a mistake. Honestly, I save up to get this done once a month---and I am aware that it's a privilege, not essential. But if I am going to splurge, I am careful to choose something that's worth it. The salon itself is very nice but the experience was terrible. My daughter got a manicure. They charged her $17 to remove her dip and $ 20 for reg manicure. Outrageous. The regular manicure was poorly done and she ended up removing it at home within 48 hours. I had a pedicure. During the pedi i was asked multiple times if i wanted to add more time for extra fee, to which I politely declined. After my nails were painted, i noticed my legs were still super shiny oily as she didn't wipe off any oil after oil treatment. I asked for a towel and wiped my legs myself. I didn't want oil all over my car seats. When i gave the towel back to her, she threw the oily towel in the drawer with clean towels The entire pedi was rushed. The staff has an abrupt manner with clients, almost like you are bothering them. I had a gift certificate for a pedicure which was gifted to me by a friend. My friend told me the pedicure included a generous tip and that i need not pay any extra. When i presented the pedicure gift certificate, they insisted i pay more money because their prices went up. I questioned it since the gift certificate clearly stated i was entitled to a pedicure and they became super defensive. I paid the extra but was super annoyed by their aggressive attitude over a gift certificate. Unfortunately, my visit turned out badly. Not only did they overcharge me, but the owners' subsequent behavior was unacceptable. Firstly, we were told a pedicure was $38 and when we got the bill we were each charged $50. When I raised the issue by phone shortly after we left, I was told I could return for a credit to rectify the situation. Upon my return, I was confronted by four men who barreled out from the back of the salon. Instead of acknowledging their mistake and providing the promised credit, they argued why they shouldn't have to refund me. Their attitude was confrontational and intimidating. I felt sorry for the women working under them who actually had done a good job on our manicures. The management overcharges customers and then is aggressive when confronted. These nail techs are in a constant state of overbooking and under-giving. A constant rush of customers is what helps cover the bottom line for their ok prices. They however will be careless and nick your cuticles, if tips are given will have them be crooked or different lengths and if the nails are french will be done improperly. If you try to speak up and say something about their sloppy work they will look at the door and get upset and say "more customers" as if you don't matter and get mad. Honestly an amazing experience, everyone who works here is super sweet and accommodating- it's not surprising that their schedule is always booked with regulars who keep coming back. Came for the first time without appointment (on a Wednesday afternoon!) and they squeezed me in. That said, make sure you book beforehand or risk having to wait!! Probably the best nail job I've gotten so far in the Boston area. I got the French tip and it came out very nicely. Super happy wth everything!! Best prices I've seen as well. This was the worst nail salon experience I have ever had. I brought my mother for a Mother's Day mani/pedi and it was such a disappointment. The staff are rude, the pedicures from start to finish were about 20 minutes (no soaking feet, super rough service, staff not paying attention), and my mother was cut a few times - despite saying "ouch" there was no apologies from the woman doing her nails, it was wild. I will note that there looked to be two nail techs in there who knew what they were doing and were attentive to their customers, but neither of them were in the cards for us. At the manicure station, the table tops were dirty and covered in nail dust. They do not soak your nails, they just dive right in and give you what feels like an unsanitary 10 minute manicure. No hand massage and barely any cuticle cleanup. We had to ask if we could wash our hands, that apparently isn't part of the protocol either. They also do not have nail dryers for hands or toes, which I have never experienced. When I accidentally hit my air drying nail on the table the tech snapped at me and rolled her eyes. Literally just buy some mini fans, no one is asking for the stars here. This place has zero regard for customer service and I am shocked it has survived in an area with so many other salon options. It is hard to believe that this place is still in business. I am baffled by my experience here. The staff is abrasive and rude. I watched them turn people away at the door just by saying "too busy!" I came here with my elderly mother and am so disappointed in the way they treated her. Her manicurist kept taking long breaks to text on his phone while my mom just sat there with her arms stretched out on the table. He even went to the bathroom with his gloves on and came back wearing the same gloves. My manicurist was getting up often to attend to the salon needs, like laundry or scheduling appointments. They don't soak your nails! I have never been to a salon where they started cutting my cuticles without soaking my hands first. The pedicure was the worst pedicure I have ever received, and I've even been to nail salons in third world countries. The water was luke warm, there was absolutely no soaking, no massage and no callus removal- even upon request. The staff were snappy and had an attitude when they weren't choosing to just ignore my requests. This nail salon started out really strong. I would regularly make the 20 minute trek to come here because it was far superior to any nail salons near me. The quality and service changed and so I stopped going. To their credit they kept in touch and were offering discounts to return so I gave it one more try; that was a mistake. I brought my daughter who is 9 for her first pedicure and myself for a manicure pedicure; nothing crazy regular nail polish. We did get the "nicer pedicure" that's supposed to take longer have more massage etc. The entire appointment deluxe pedicure + regular manicure with nails dry was done in 50 minutes. My daughter didn't get her nails done and we were charged $120. The service was sloppy the pedicure was only 30 minutes it was supposed to be an hour. It was rough and rushed and the staff were speaking to each other and not paying attention. It felt like we infringing on them. Totally negative and felt taken advantage of financially. Wow! I'm pretty picky with nail places but they do a great job here. Everyone who works here really puts in the time to make sure your nails turn out perfect. My gel manicures here last FOREVER. They literally do not chip and just grow out. All the nail technicians have great technique and do all the small things to make sure your manicure/pedicure lasts. Owners/managers & nail technicians are all very nice as well. They offer a killer student discount. Pretty sure they offer some free snacks and water too. Overall, price & quality cannot be beat. Definitely recommend! I would recommend making an appointment in advance because they can get busy, but personally have never made an appointment more than a few hours in advance and have always been able to get in. They took me on time, but the service was very quick (I was there for 30 minutes total). I got a french manicure, and the white tips are thicker than I prefer and also slightly uneven. There were no issues with the express pedicure. When I went to pay and showed my student ID, the manicurist said there was no student discount. I paid full price + tip, but I don't think I'd come back. If no student discounts are offered, the salon should remove the options for students off their website. read more

Pedi was good but having booked a gel pedi, what I got was a polish with a gel that did not include the "curing" that tends to make gel polish indestructible. The manicure was just so-so. I wish I could take pix of how uneven the surface is. I think I got a good five coats of base/polish, and the led/uv treatment between each one, but my nails are anything but smooth/even. What I see is much thicker color at the tips of my nails than the rest of them. n The phone rang at least three times when my nail technician was supposed to be attending to me. I don't know if that affected the manicure, but it was pretty annoying to listen to other patrons making appointments via telephone. As an aside, at no point did my "nail technician" even spare a glance at a computer calendar, or take down the name of the caller, so I was annoyed on behalf of the callers as well. A previous gel manicure at a somewhat cheap-o different place lasted a week - for this one, I'm hoping it will last at least through the next day, when I have a special event coming up. read more

I told the lady that I'd only be having my gel polish removed since she'd already started removing it. She said okay and it'll be $10. I gave her my card at the register.
