She cut like 10 inches off and gave me layers, cut my bangs, dyed my hair a lot darker brown, and curled it all. She was very friendly and polite as well and so was their staff. Perfect balayage done by Sarah. Quiet but sweet and she blended my hair better than I've ever had ombrés or highlights done by anyone else in the past. I was just confused when the receptionist told me a balayage/full highlights range from $80-$130 depending on hair length and if more time and bleach is required. I have short hair (to the top of my shoulders) and the processing time took 15 minutes then toning and wash, nothing extensive or extra, so I definitely thought I'd be in the lower end. It ended up being $150 and I wasn't sure why, was she a master stylist or something? Not that her work wasn't flawless but the estimated range from the recep was way off. Just be prepared. I needed a new stylist since I've just moved to the area. Unfortunately, I still am looking... I called Luxxi early in the morning during the week and was able to book an appointment for that same morning. I initially thought Great! I should have realized better. I arrived and was introduced to a very young (and slightly nervous) looking stylist. Now I was also feeling nervous. I wanted basically the same cut I already had but more dramatic. She didn't listen to how much I wanted to take off and barely trimmed my hair. She kept asking me "So you want it more dramatical in the back?" After cringing every time she said that made up word, I'd answer "Yes, more dramatic". Well I left with an OK trim but not a new cut. I also got the feeling from the other stylists and the receptionist that they didn't care if I ever stepped foot back in the place. They didn't ask if I'd like to rebook or make any small talk or comments other than taking my payment. Not only was she personable and clearly talented, she went out of her way to teach me tricks of the trade to style my hair at home. Loren was the first to ever do extensions for me...and she has always done an amazing job. When I moved wayyyyyy out to San Tan Valley, I tried a mobile stylist simply out of convenience. SO BAD.....after several rounds of extensions- and then getting blown off AFTER I had purchased my hair AND driven to HER in CASA GRANDE ( she had suddenly ceased to be mobile) I contacted Loren to come back. She graciously agreed and fit me in. I had no idea what a complete mess this previous stylist had made of my hair!!!! I had mats and tangles in my hair under the previous extensions reminiscent of a homeless person and it took poor Loren about an hour and 20 minutes just to remove the old hair and untangle mine. She worked so hard to cut as very minimal amount as possible of my own hair. I know ANY other stylist would not have been so patient and worked so hard to save my hair!!!! I cannot thank her enough for the amazing job she did and I had nothing but compliments all day!! Loren and Luxxi are absolutely, without a doubt, the only salon to patronize!!!! I've been having extensions done for years now starting with my hair beeing burned in Australia do to using an Curling iron product and not realizing the electrical is musch higher there resulting in badly burned hair. I would go through many salons, Professionals, bad hair etc. since and have spent thousands of dollars in the process. I had just gone through Lung Cancer the year before and was yet again trying to find someone that could find and put DECENT HAIR (a must) and a very TOP PROFESSIONAL Stylist to install the extensions. I just moved here and I had walked into check this place out and see if this could be a potential place to get my hair done. I walked in and while I was talking to the lady at the front desk, all I could hear were the hair stylists talk smack about people. I don't know if it were another employee, customer, or whoever but it was non stop with their rude comments and their laughing about the comments. I let the lady know that the front desk that I am going to look into other salons (I didn't say why only because she didn't really give me the time of day when I was asking some questions) and I decided to leave. Even though this salon looks professional cosmetically, their overall environment was very "clicky" it seemed like and the least bit professional. When someone gets their hair done, it should be relaxing and comfortable but I don't believe this is the right place, at least for me. I would rather go back to my hometown and get my hair done at a higher end salon that has a friendly environment. I hope that this review changes some things for in the future and I hope that their work isn't has unprofessional as their stylists. read more
