I wanted to get my nails done in SD, as I didn't have time to get them done before I left. I found this one based on its decent reviews on Yelp. Service (4/5): Trina did a great job with this new "hybrid gel" (aka tap gel), that was able to build a length on my otherwise stubby nails. Apparently it will last 4 weeks....we will see. She lost a star from hitting my cuticle a couple times with the rotating nail file (I hate these)! From the other reviews, I thought I would be offered alcohol, but was offered a small bottle of water. Service was fast and efficient..she charged me $75 which included removal of my dip nails. Tip was paid via Venmo, cause who has cash these days? One hour, from start to finish and a short 1 min walk from the Grand Horton Hotel. Vibe: The place was clean and everyone was nice there. Would recommend. read more

Hello SAN DIEGO! Came for a quick weekend trip and couldn't make it to my regular pedicure place near home. So came to this place walking distance from our hotel and this is how it went... *Waited a few minutes ~10min *Complimentary water, wine, mimosa (obviously got a mimosa had some for breakfast so why not continue the mimosa vibes right?!) * gel is almost double than back in OC (bummer) *pay cash and you save $2 I got the European pedicure at LV + gel = $75 still tipped 18% cuz she did her best and was nice, but not fully satisfied. I probably wouldn't come back if I'm in the area and need a pedicure. read more

I've been here twice now, and both times have been great. The ladies here make great recommendations, but I don't feel upsold. They also check throughout to make sure you're liking what you're getting. For me, I appreciate that they're not trying to talk to me the whole time so I can relax. I'm so glad to have found a place that feels good. read more

My friend and I went we walked in no appointment and got sat almost immediately which was good. they asked us both what we wanted and we both asked for square french tip, my friend had no issues but the lady doing my nails said she "couldn't do the square shape" because my nails were previously almond shape but they were grown out quite a bit all you'd have to do is file them down and they'd be square. she said she could do coffin shape and i said no i don't want that and i can't have that shape at work, so she says okay and then does square shape with no issues... she said she had to take the nails/acrylic i currently had on, off because one singular nail was lifting so i went with it. the service was good it was quick and i really like the out come of my nails. my friend and i go to pay and they forced us to tip before we left, we are the people to always leave tip anyways regardless but, forcing people to tip is ridiculous so we tipped a lot less than we would have for that. a few days after we got them done, they started lifting like crazy and chipping and the white part of the french tip was getting bubbles and stuff in it. i paid $70 something for these nails and the way they looked after just 4 days it looked like i had the on for weeks. would not recommend and definitely not going back. read more

I live close by and go to LV when I can't get to my usual place. I usually get a regular manicure or pedicure. The service is good, my nails last a long time and often get confused for gel which is also great. Everyone is always welcoming and friendly. Even when busier, never had a problem with a walk in visit I've also had my eyebrows done here on many occasions and that is where i will give my biggest compliment. I have had a few cases pf botched waxing elsewhere, so I am always nervous about eyebrow waxing but i have always had a great experience here. read more

I came to this salon 5 times. The actual salon atmosphere and lay out is nicer than 90 percent of other salons in the downtown area. The language barrier is worse here than anywhere else I've been. I've had two good sets of nails come out of this place out of 5 sets, I've never been happy with the pedicures. It's not relaxing. Good place to go if you're with a big group and you don't really care how your nails turn out. They serve champagne. read more

Had a gel builder removed and nails cut, they (she) did not do a good job. Charged me an extra $6 for buffing my nails, but they didn't remove all the gel, and left my nails ragety and rough. The pedicure was also unprofessional, painful on my feet. It just seems they were not interested in doing the job. I was looking for a new place so I started with something simple to try out the services, this place is not for me. They take walk-ins, they tell everyone 5 minutes.... I waited almost 20, no acknowledgement. It's just wasn't the service level or experience I expect. read more

Quality of work was terrible! During my pedicure they cut my toe, didn't even cut my nails even and when asked what the extra charge was for, they said oh you wanted buffing? No asking or anything. Very expensive for terrible work! Go somewhere else. read more

I've had good luck coming in here without an appointment during San Diego Comic-Con. I had a simple manicure with regular polish and a pedicure with no polish. Everything went fine and was done in a quick manner. I'm actually surprised more people don't spend some time getting a relaxing pedicure during SDCC. Nothing feels better after a couple of days on your feet non-stop than a soak and a massage. read more

Last time I came here I got a gel pedicure with the cat eye polish and they did a great job and it was just the normal additional $10 for gel. Came here today and I came in and I picked out another cat eye color for my toes and they immediately were like no you can only do that on your fingernails. And I was like well I already have it on my toes and you did it last time so what's the problem? And they're like OK fine but it's gonna be an extra $40. ???????? last time was only an extra $10 this time it's an extra 30$. I ended up getting a regular gel and it just looks like a hot mess and the polish on the big toes are already peeling and it hasn't even been a day. Used to love this place I don't know what happened. read more

Very nice, top notch salon. Centrally located in gas lamp, downtown Sandiego. I go every 2 weeks for nails and toes. They have a fabulous selection of spa pedicures and fills. Mia is an expert nail tech. She can do any design and it lasts! No matter how many rhinestones. Aimee is a very good tech as well. She does unique designs and has terrific ideas. Katie is the best at pedicures from the foot bath to the nail designs on your toes, she is the best! Not to mention the foot massage included in most pedicures. read more

I walked in and the acetone smells were so strong I almost walked out, but they opened the door for fresh air and it got a little better. I went during lunch and got seated right away. Two nail technicians helped (mani/pedi) and both were very friendly. It looks clean and is very well decorated. My nails turned out very nice. My husband went the next day for a mani/pedi and his finger nails didn't look as well filed as they could have been. There's a lot of places in the area so I'll probably try something new next time. read more

I was visiting from out of town and saw that this place had good reviews. Wrong. Horrible. I paid 78$ + tips for a "deluxe pedi" gel. They over exfoliated my skin so it is all cut up and she painted my toes after the wax and oil so it peeled off within 2 days. read more

This place is not that good. I got a pedicure here 2 days ago and I don't feel like they properly sanitize/ disinfect their pedicure stations. I did a callus treatment, my foot is soooo dry even after I put lotion on. Don't be fooled by the aesthetic, this place isn't really good. read more

I've been coming here for a few years now. I'm a local and decided to do a staycation downtown. I ran into this place and decided to get my nails filled and a pedicure. I have been coming here ever since. I live about 30 to 35 minutes away and will not only make the commute, but pass other nail salons that I used to patron. I get the GelX with either Trina or Mia. All the ladies do good nails, but I just like to keep it consistent with the ladies I know. Sidebar: you get either cocoffee, water, a mimosa, or wine with your nail service! This was an unexpected surprise! My friends and I walked into this place as we wanted to do an impromptu nail session during our girls weekend. They were able to take all of us despite being full. None of us minded the wait since they were willing to take us. There was water and mimosas for those that like alcohol. The one iffy thing was that my friend got a glass that needed to be cleaned but they brought her another and that was fine. They do cash and if you don't have cash, you can still pay via apple pay and if you want to tip your person specifically, you can ask for their Venmo. They were super nice to accommodate all of us though if you don't have all the time in the world, maybe an appointment would be better? I got a regular manicure which is hand massage, hot towel, then getting into actual manicure part. The cuticle care was pretty good. Normally, cuticle care is my least favorite because salons have a tendency to be rough but they were pretty gentle with it overall. What really inspired me to write this review is how well my manicure was applied! Normally, regular polish means my nails will chip within two days if not the day of but it has been almost a week and no chips at all! I'm impressed. I have saved this spot because the next time I make a trip to San Diego, this is going to be my spot if I want a little mani Pedi time. Since I came as a tourist, I can't really speak for the parking situation. That being said, it is San Diego downtown and with some streets closed, it can be difficult so I'd research parking ahead of time. We took public transportation so it wasn't bad for us at all. read more

Back in September, I came in to get my wedding nails done. Susan did my toes, but another nail tech worked on my hands. I don't remember her name, but I explained that I have shorter, wider fingers, and I immediately noticed she was applying very small nail tips. I mentioned my concern before she continued, but she dismissed it and assured me she knew what she was doing. Once the acrylic was applied, it became obvious to everyone that the tips were far too small. I was then sent to another tech to try to fix them. They did the best they could, but because the original tips were too small to begin with, the final result still wasn't what I had hoped for, especially for my wedding nails. After that experience, I honestly started questioning whether the 30-minute drive was still worth it. A few months later, my friend and I decided to come back for birthday pedicures because I really did want to see Susan again. However, once my pedicure was finished and Susan stepped away, my friend's nail tech, Rena, told me to put my socks and shoes on and get up to leave, even though my friend's nails were still being done. It made both of us feel rushed, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. I've always loved coming here, which is why these experiences have been so disappointing. Sadly, it's made me reconsider whether I'll be returning in the future.

If this is how repeat customers are treated over the phone it's clear long term business isn't a priority. They've lost a customer and I won't be recommending this place to anyone.

As an example - once I was there when this other lady came in and wanted her black toenail polish removed and a new color done in 45 min because she was on her lunch break. Long story short, she was being EXTRA and really rude about a lot of things that were more related to her choice to have black toenail polish than anything the staff were doing. Anyway, I was so impressed at the way the staff handled it - the "customer is always right" almost to a fault, and they were kind when I would have LOST it at her. They are good people, and work hard. I will definitely keep supporting that kind of team!

One thing that always impresses me is how healthy my natural nails have stayed. These are my real nails, and I only get gel manicures, so I can't personally speak to acrylics or some of the other nail services they offer. What I can say is that my nails consistently look amazing, last well, and receive compliments all the time. I've also had pedicures here and they've always done a great job. I don't have one specific technician I regularly see for those, but I've never had a bad experience

I just called to book a mani and pedi separately and this is something I've done before and was met with attitude. I understand Fridays are busy but the tone was rude and dismissive. When I agreed to just a manicure the response was a sarcastic "thank you." First impressions are the reveal and this one said everything. If this is how repeat customers are treated over the phone it's clear long term business isn't a priority. They've lost a customer and I won't be recommending this place to anyone.
