The ambiance is nice. This place is best compared to a tapas bar. Food plates are small, and not a huge variety of food. Prices are a bit elevated. But the drinks are to die for! Been there 2 times now and both times were awful. Upon arrival we were seated quickly in a nice ambiance. The service was slow and very lackadaisical. We waited for easily 15-minutes for our WATERS. Then we wait an addition 20-25 minutes for our other beverages... the quality of the cocktails were a 3-5 out of 10 at best. We had a variety of different food choices -- Brussels, whipped eggplant, and fried rice tuna; all great. The pasta was 2 out of 10. Under cooked pasta and bland sauce. The steak is where it went sideways QUICK. The first steak (a NY strip) said to be cooked "medium rare" was one of the worst steaks I've had from a flavor standpoint not to mention it was cook "well" --- $50 steak, you'd expect decent. The other steak order was a porterhouse. This steak was labeled as "MP" (market price), I wasn't on a tight budget so figure that would be a standard price. The steak came out SEVERELY over-cooked. We got push back that the "chef" said it was medium rare. It was also well. Needless to say, I tried to be reasonable. Check came.... That steak was $225. It was garbage. The manager, was not willing to do anything and acknowledge the prices were extremely high and said that "chef" determines what market price his based on his discretion. Overrated. From the moment you approach the door the place screams wannabe. The finish out is beautiful, the hostess stand girls have more attitude than is warranted. The bartenders are friendly, professional, and mix a good, if overpriced, cocktail. The older woman seating people was putting on the airs of a velvet rope worse than I've seen in a very long time. Mr. Charles greeting and seating staff blows them away. Our waitress was very attractive and playful but ultimately came off like a used car salesman. The burratta app was excellent as were the Brussel sprouts. The whipped eggplant,they are so proud of, was such a disappointment. Any Arab market babaganoush would be superior. The spicy orecchiette was good, adding salmon was the right move. The DJ was moving equipment in as we were were walking out, which begs the question, " is it a restaurant or is it a nightclub ?" From the looks of the burly doorman at the front door, asking everyone if they had reservations, I think the place is better suited to the second option. Save yourself the disappointment. read more

I walked in, sat the bar. I ordered the Lyla and a burrata appetizer. I was having a pleasant time until my Black husband arrived, in his work attire (slacks, new balances, and a fitted tshirt) and was refused to be seated. Typical Uptown racism. We pointed out a White gentleman sitting right next to me, at the bar. He has on every article of clothing that is being rejected from my husband. It is unfortunate that Dallas food and beverage culture continues to perpetuate this nasty behavior towards Black consumers. Not only am I disappointed with this repetitive rhetoric, but I question the integrity of restauranteers in Dallas. I closed out my tab. $40 + tip on a drink and appetizer that I barely touch. One of my favorite places in Dallas to go to dinner with friends. I love the design aesthetic of the restaurant it takes you to the coast of Italy and is so calming and a great ambiance. The food is incredible some of my favorites are the pasta dishes and the steak menu options. The service has always been wonderful whether it be a large dinner party or an intimate setting. We ordered the truffle pepperoni pizza and both said after leaving that we would have rather had takeout. Pasta we ordered was cold and undercooked. Place was pretty much empty when we left at 8 and that makes sense. There's so many great restaurants in Dallas with pretty interiors if you're looking for that kind of experience. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. They nailed it in every aspect. The restaurant is beautiful. They did an amazing job on the look and feel. Attention to detail was impeccable. Service was amazing and everyone was so welcoming and attentive. You definitely could feel a team effort and they made sure we had what we needed. Food. Omg. There was not one bad dish or bite. Okay first of all, get the whipped eggplant appetizer. We would never have ordered it, but you would NEVER know it was eggplant and it was like a hummus I could eat spoonfuls of. AND it came with this bread/pita thing that was perfectly salted, chewy and I will dream about. Charcuterie board was wonderful. We got the Cesar salad which was light and tasty, it has a lemon zest which is super refreshing. We split 2 pastas. The spicy orecchiette is a MUST. It is creamy with a little kick and definitely blows that other restaurant from NY with the spicy rigatoni out of the water ;) we also got the truffle carbonara which was perfectly rich and definitely not too much. Sometimes truffle can be over powering, but I could eat this all the time. Lastly, the cauliflower was a pleasant surprise. You would never know it was cauliflower, heavily spiced and flavorful, mostly with turmeric. And of course, the espresso martini. Not creamy, definitely more on the coffee side with a sweeter kick but not too sweet. 10/10. Had multiple. This place is exactly what Dallas needed and I wish it would be a hidden gem, because I'd be surprised if lyla wasn't about to be booked out for months. This place can just take my money. read more

Very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. Was asked to leave even though we had a reservation because of what we wearing. My fiancé was wearing a golf hat. Otherwise we were dressed very appropriately and were treated as if we were dressed going to a trashy bar. I will never be coming back to this place. Quick update: they blocked me from their IG. The food is meant to be ordered family style, so we were able to try multiple items.for anyone who doesn't eat pork, the pepperoni pizza is made with beef and it tasted great. Went last night for the first time and was pretty impressed! The atmosphere & menu are great (similar to Élephante in Santa Monica) Some tweaks they need to work out, but that's understandable since they just opened. Service was excellent, but we did feel rushed at the end of our reservation as our server kept trying to clear our plates before we were finished (the restaurant wasn't closing or anything, so this was odd); Since this is an Eastern European concept, they should refrain from doing this unless they explicitly list a set time for dining. People will stay longer and chat (and order more drinks), which is what we intended, but we ended up leaving, Food and drinks were very good! The Lyla was strong and had a unique profile. Loved the truffle fries - good portion size for sharing. The eggplant dip and puccia bread were spot on - although they need to do a more significant portion of the bread. The spicy orecchiette was quite good, a little too salty. The pizzas were a flop - so greasy and served in an unappealing presentation. They really need to figure this out. I look forward to seeing the restaurant improve and returning to try more menu options! read more

I was excited to try this place out. Took a out of state friend who was visiting.. and when we walked out of the parking lot where the Valet was at across the street from the restaurant.. the doorman saw us walking across the street and immediately starting walking towards us and stopped us because apparently he though I was wearing leggings (judged my outfit from far away) told us that we couldn't go in dressed in relaxed sportswear style clothes. I was shocked because neither of us were in sneakers or leggings. I had black tight jeans on. So obviously I spoke out and pointed out I'm in jeans. That ended up just messing up the entire vibe of the place. We ended up walking in. But the entire time I didn't feel comfortable.. I felt like I was being judged because I was just in my head now.. for wearing tight black skinny jeans and some flats. Kinda sad to be honest. read more
