I am a member of Lynfred's new release club, so I go every month to pick up my wine and participate in a tasting. I have yet to find a wine from Lynfred that I hated (some I enjoyed more than others, but I haven't hated any). Their clubs are great-you get your bottle of wine every month plus discounts on almost everything else! The tastings are a steal at $6 for members (and if you bring a guest, they'll usually extend the discount to your guest). For $6 you get to taste 7 wines with the option of paying extra to have a glass of their premium wine of month. They have a great selection of whites, reds, and seasonals! The staff is great (friendly and extremely knowledgeable) and the building is just beautiful. It does get crowded on the weekends, but we always have a good time whenever we go! The fireplace is always warm and cozy in the winter, and they have a selection of breads and gifts that will knock your socks off! read more

My second time to this place and definitely not my last! The first time I went, the weather was warm and my mom and I were able to get glasses of wine and a flat bread and sit out on the patio, which is super nice. This time it's winter and snowing, but my husband I were able to enjoy a tasting at the bar. I even joined the fruit wine club because at 11 dollars a month, it's a way better deal than most wineries. Only downside is parking does suck.. like majorly suck. Even in the middle of heavy Chicago winter snow, the main lot was full and we had to park along the fence and walk up to the winery. read more

I hate to do it but while I used to love to go to Lynfred, it has dropped down on my list of favorite spots to be. This past weekend my husband took me for a tasting on my birthday. We arrived and it was crowded (fine, it was a Saturday evening). But, they just don't have the staff or ability to handle the crowds that come into this place. There was only one tasting station open on the balcony and at times the wait for a sample was 20-30 people deep. Bless the staff, they were moving as fast as they could, but there really needed to be another station or 2 open to accommodate everyone in a timely manner. We left without finishing our tasting or bothering to pick up our wine club bottles. We'll continue to visit Lynfred but I'll think we'll be visiting less often and only at non-peak times since they can't seem to handle things when it gets really busy. I'm fine with having to stand and browse (I often prefer it) but the length of the lines was really off-putting. The wine still gets a decent grade and I'll always have a soft-spot for Lynfred (and I'm glad they are flourishing) but the experience just isn't as fun as it used to be with the crowds and long lines. read more

Went to get a glass and pick up my wine of the month club wines. Ahna was full of energy and delightful! She's been there only for a short time but did her best and tried hard to make everything work. Nice to see someone new with so much vigor and ready do whatever she can to make your experience wonderful. Rarely do you see people as energetic as Ahna in retail anymore. read more

Such a cute place! We went here with a group of us for the wine tasting a few weeks ago, and had a great time. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but it was still fun! It was about $10 after tax for the tasting, I've never done one before so I'm not sure how that compares. We started in front and the girl poured a nice sized sample glass and then we moved into the back, and the woman back there poured the tiniest amount in our glasses, so that was disappointing. They had a lot of great looking things in the gift shop, I had (luckily) gotten all my x-mas shopping done already, so I didn't buy anything, but a handful of my friends got gifts there. read more

It is what it is -- a small Illinois winery. If you've never been to California, then come and enjoy a "somewhat" quaint spot for an hour or so. The wines are typical of what you'd find in Michigan or up in Door County cherry country - that is to say, too fruity (even sweet) for my taste too. These are the wines with the unusual labels my friends stashed in their closet after receiving them as Christmas gifts - but Grandma probably enjoyed more than a few glasses at the once-a-year family gathering. The architecture is more interesting than the wine, but some people, mostly women, enjoyed this experience. Maybe the selections try to please too many people of widely divergent tastes. I grew up in the area, so this winery has always been a favorite. Each time I have been to Lynfred my experiences have been unique. Christina, the Public Relations Manager, invited us to experience the Founder's Room. Our most recent experience was beyond fabulous, and I am already looking forward to planning our next trip there. My mom and I visited the Founder's Room on a Saturday, and it was a delightful afternoon. I was able to enjoy a tasting, while she enjoying a glass a wine. We were presented with beautiful charcuterie boards to enjoy with our wine. Patti, Debbie and Lisa L. took such great care of us while we were there. Patti was so knowledgeable, and we learned so much from her, which enhanced our wine tasting experience. One of the best features of the Founder's Room is that it is only available to guests who are 21 or older. It was a relaxing, carefree afternoon, and we were made to feel like valued guests. So this was the first winery I had ever been to and I was nervous because I didn't think I liked wine. But Lynfred showed me that I LOVE wine!! And of all the wine tastings I have been to this is by far the best! The tasting is $7 for seven wines and you always get a taste of the warm Christmas wine! Delicious!! A great winery with awesome staff and a classy vintage feel. You can have two "experiences" meaning either 2 glasses of wine or a tasting and a glass of wine, just know there is a limit to what they can serve you. They also serve tasty artisan breads, wine and cheese to enhance the experience. The gift shop has all kinds of wine related thingies you never knew you needed till now. I haven't tried the tours or the B&B yet. read more

If you are driving through or near Roselle, this is a MUST. Just go in and enjoy the experience, maybe get a membership or two. We went for our anniversary to celebrate at Lynfred winery for a wine tasting. We were there on September 6, 2018. As we entered the building we noticed that they have changed up the inside with adding a second bar were there used to be a gift shop area. Very beautiful interior. As we were not wine members we did pay for the wine tasting and we were enjoying the tastings but did notice that the prices seem to be extremely high and when I asked for the Windy City red they told me they did not have any bottle open for me to try. We waited quite a while while we watched the older woman arguing with the other two girls behind the bar. I it made us feel very unwelcome. It seem like some of the wines that we use to like and enjoy were not even on the list to try for a wine tasting. I feel they really went up quite a bit in price. read more

The winery is just gorgeous, and everyone here is so friendly. I went with friends who are members, and ended up getting one of my own. They'll get a $15 credit if I stay on for a few months. The wines are just excellent, and the bar offers samples of the yummy fresh breads, dips and oils also available for purchase. Pretzel was salt less and tasteless like the wine . As I finished my last glass .. the sides were ull of grape sludge . Very impressive! We were expecting some grape growing gardens like the Oliver Winery in Indiana, and nice views, but they did not have that, so we were initially skeptical. They have grapes shipped to them, and only have on-site production facilities. However, wait until you try their Epicurean Experience! It was truly a bargain, especially if you sign up for their wine club. If you are a member of the club, it's only 20 bucks plus tax for three wines and 6 appetizers! Half of the 6 dishes are amazing, and all the wine pairings are very good. Plus, there is no service charge. I tried to tip our server and she declined politely, and told me that they do not accept tips. The service was nevertheless very attentive and personal. The chef even came up to talk to the three of us about all the dishes and wines. The Carb-Syrah was my favorite. We paid 30 bucks for each person, cause we did not join the wine club. Big mistake. Will do the next time. They also change menu every month. Definitely go there again next month! read more

Oh, not my cup of tea. It was very crowded. And I have attended some fests this year, so I'm used to crowd. This just did not seem great. I could see it being better the previous years, when the weather cooperated. This year, we were all crowded by the heaters, elbowing each other randomly left and right. The grape stomping contestants complained, that their feet were cold. The music was just good for the occasion. Yes, you seem to spend a lot of money there. But mind you: The admission $3. a plastic cup-"glass" of wine- $6, a bottle:$12. Not bad at all. Unless you want some of their finer wines. Then, go to the winery. They are open, you can shop around for wine as well as gifts. I guess the reason I don't like it, is, that it seemed disorganized. Hard to talk to your friends (not a date-friendly one), but too crowded for one to meet someone. A couple of rude people fired up on wine completed the so-so picture. It is a good event to experience. I will probably not repeat it, but I will recommend it to my friends I appreciate the heaters outside, 2014 has not been the warmest year there, so everyone enjoyed these. read more

I visited this location a couple of weeks ago when my sisters and mom came to visit me. We were interested in trying out the local wineries and decided to check this location out since it was closer to my house. Overall it wasn't bad. We ended up parking down this hill around the apparent bed and breakfast that is here. It was a little confusing at first as to where to go, but after reading a sign on the front door that the wine area was down the driveway, we saw there was a parking lot there too. Price was $9 for a wine sampling of (i think) 5 or 6 wines. We were informed we could spend $2 more and get a premium sampling, but we all didn't feel it was necessary. We were then informed to go through the gift shop area and there was an area set up for the wine tastings. Unfortunately it was just a small podium sized table with one lady who was pouring for the over 20 guests all standing and wondering the area. I was very confused as to why we weren't allowed to do the wine sampling at the actual bar. I've been to many wineries across the nation and never have been shoved to a small podium before. They had 1 or 2 wines that caught my attention, but otherwise nothing too special that got my palette excited. They did have some sauce/dips to sample which I will never back down! In the end I didn't buy anything, but think I'd come back to another location and give them another shot. read more

Love this location! It's quiet and secluded even though its in the middle of the town. Be sure to check out the gazebo and the little-known porch swing. The price of the tasting is a steal. I held my daughters wedding shower there 3 weeks ago. If you are looking for a unique and beautiful setting, this is the place. However be ready to shell out a lot of money and don't expect the best service, or any flexibility. As an example, the cost to rent the room is $800.00. However there is a big up charge for white linens, or you can bring your own in (for much less). I get that they don't want to deal with the wine stains on the white table cloths, but I don't expect to have to pay for it when I spent over 4K for 3 hrs. I also had custom wine labels that I made to put on the half bottles of wine (which I purchased from them ) to be used for giveaways. They would not allow me to use them...so my option was to have them design the label at a cost of $5.00 a piece! My work around was to put the wine in a bag and I put my own label on the bag. The day of the shower my daughter had an emergency that was out of her control. It caused her to be 30 min late. I spoke to the staff and shared the situation and asked that we not be rushed out at 3pm. They were not sympathetic and did rush us and would not extend the time. My guests were promised a tour of the winery which they would not do since we were running late. I ordered filet for the luncheon, and while they were good. At least 5 guests had to send them back as many were bloody rare. Also, I had wanted the shower on a Sunday, but they only serve appetizers on Sunday vs. a meal. (go figure) I also paid $7.00 per person for a wine tasting. I expected that before each pour someone would say a few words about the wine (romance it so to speak) All we got was during the pour the waitress would tell us the name of the wine. They also didn't keep good track of who got what wine, so many of my guests only got 4 or 5 of the 7 wines. At the end of the day, my guests were impressed with the shower, however I was disappointed at the treatment I got for the amount of money I spent. read more

Wife and I found this place last year on a fluke. I somehow was signed up for their emails even though we had never been there. They had an email for their 35th Anniversary Wine Makers Dinner. The menu sounded A-mazing, so we bought our tickets and took the 45 minute drive up to Rosell. We were super impressed not just with the food, but the wine! We have tried many of the other Illinois wineries and I can say with out a doubt, this one is the best I have tried! It reminds me more of the wineries I have been to in California and New York. We have since become members and very much enjoy out monthly treks up to Rosell to pick up our wine of the month. Of course we stay for a tasting! The tasting line up changes every month, as if I needed any more motivation to taste and appreciate fine wine! Keep it up Lynfred! read more

I grew up down the street from this place and I went there for a wine tasting this summer. The wine is very good and I will definitely be stocking up again the next time I visit my parents. I was recently here for a wine tasting and tour of the place that a friend of mine grabbed on Groupon. When we first arrived there I was amazed at how pretty the place looked and this was just from the outside. Once we all walked inside I was still thrilled to see all the fun little gadgets they had to offer for all us wine drinkers. The staff is super courteous and very attentive. The tour was ok I excepted to get a lot more out of the tour and wine tasting but for the price you can't beat it. I would probably go back again in the future. Booked the Epicurean Experience recently. You sample 3 wines with 6 paired appetizers for $30 a person. First time going to Lynfred and not being a wine person I wasn't sure what expect. Lynfred contacted me and resolved the issue. Quality people who I am sure made staff aware of level of customer service is expected. Disappointed Lynfred ( ROSELLE)! Wanting to support local business and support our community we were asking for a $5 gift in any way shape or form to raffle off at our 2nd annual neighborhood block party (HeatherGreen subdivision in ROSELLE). Lynfred turned us down. Now of course we do not have a tax number ( we are a neighborhood block party). But if a large local business can't support a small local donation why should we support them? read more

I really wanted to love this place. It is a beautiful space and the staff is nice, but the wine. Oh, the wine is bad. For $7 you get a glass and 7 tastings. I spilled out 5 of them, they were that bad. Full of off notes and weird flavors. The Semillon was good though. read more
