We were very disappointed with our visit to Lyric. To start with, our waitress was rude. She rolled her eyes at us more than once when we asked for something. The way she spoke to us (and her other tables near us) was very short and she sounded annoyed or angry. Every time she set foot in the hallway to the kitchen she had her phone in her hand. When we got out food, it was cold - a pretty clear indication it had sat in the window for a while before being brought out. The only time she was even remotely friendly to us was when she brought us our bill. I don't want to be completely negative so I will add the aesthetic of the restaurant was awesome, and the food probably would have been good if it had been warm. The food was very good. They have a huge menu with plenty of options. The ambience is upscale, but the open setting can get kind of loud if the bar is packed. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu options. Definitely worth. He king out if you are in downtown Duluth. read more

Literally the worst experience I've ever had in my life! They were very busy which was fine and we are working to be patient however we basically had to seat ourself (staff directed us) and then every single staff person proceeded to ignore us!!!! We had to go get our own beer and finally actually had to call in our order for pick up (yes we seriously had to do this 30 minutes and no one Acknowledged us). The only saving grace was the girl that took my order over the phone! I told her that literally we've been sitting there for 30 minutes with no assistance, she was kind enough to take the order over the phone and then deliver it to us. If it wouldn't of been for her I feel certain we would've been ignored all night!! Excellent food and speedy service even when it seemed to be busy in the afternoon. My only criticism is that I was not asked about validating my parking pass by the server or host. I ended up paying to park and later found out that they should have validated my pass for the parking ramp. Otherwise it was an enjoyable brunch with my kids. read more

An evening at Lyric leaves my friend and I less than impressed. Though the environment is very well maintained and friendly. The food was below average. After trying 5 of their appetizers (cheese curds, chicken strips, pretzel bites, onion rings, and mac & cheese bites.) We were thoroughly disappointed. Everything was heavily battered. It was so greasy and you only get 2-3 of each appetizer on the sampler platter. The waitress had said people struggle to finish the platter because there was so much food, I'm thinking they struggle through it because the food wasn't very good. My wife and I had an unexpected night to ourselves and found this little gem because of a billboard ad. Was almost exactly what we wanted. My wife had the Teriyaki bowl and I ordered the 9oz sirloin. Cocktails were very good. My steak was not as done as I ordered although still delicious, so I mentioned it, and were treated to a free dessert of our choosing which was amazing. Our table was a little small even for just the two of us and we were seated in the middle of the dining room, but all in all, a very good experience and will likely be back. read more

Amazing offerings on menu, wide selection of items. We ordered the deep fried mushrooms, turkey panini, pot roast and Duluthy Lucy. All tasted great and the server was very helpful and friendly. We have been wanting to try The Lyric and finally had the opportunity to do so. What stood out for us was the service! It was truly exceptional with Ashley (our experienced and friendly waitress) The Lyric manager came to our table to greet us which is something you rarely see in service these days. It was a busy Friday night, but service was as speedy as it was friendly! The food was very good and prices reasonable for the portions. My husband had the Protein bowl as recommended by our waitress and loved the combination of flavors in it. Since St. Patrick's Day is coming, I tried the reuben and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. It held together and had the most tender corned beef I have ever tasted. If you order fries try the sweet potato fries! They were crisp and well-seasoned. The "cherry on top" of our meal was the unique "gooey cake".... The combination of fluffy cake served with cinnamon ice cream on a plate drizzled with caramel, with fresh strawberries and creme fraiche on the side will be something we will return to try again. read more

The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing (as always). We were brought to our table by a server who was very friendly. However, when we were greeted by our actual server (Isabella or Izzy I think) the experience was less than expected. She was rude and unfriendly. Every time we asked a question or spoke with her she made us feel stupid or asking or would say 'ok' and walk away. She never smiled or said anything in a polite manner. It was someone's birthday and she originally offered desert and then proceeded to say they couldn't get it anymore because it was a few day too early. Ok place. Very bright. Service was friendly and good. French Onion soup was really good. A lot larger than I imagined. Hawaiian Pizza was good too, but paper thin crust. You literally could not hold it in your hand without it flopping. Asked for a to go box for 4 slices and waitress brought me a tiny box?? Didn't even look to see how much I had leftover. 2nd year in a row I've hosted a family Christmas dinner at Lyric and 2nd year in a row it went off without a hitch which can be difficult with a large group that includes rambunctious children, gluten-free and vegetarians. The private rooms are great, service was great, food was great. It's also nice when you feel your business is appreciated. Management was great about making sure we were comfortable and all of our needs were taken care of. I'll be booking again next year. read more

What happened? When Lyric first opened the grain bowls were AMAZING with farro, wild rice, quinoa, rice - so much flavor and pretty healthy. Today I got a bowl of rice soaked in sweet teriyaki sauce with a few pieces of chicken, two broccoli florets, and 4 wedges of tomato at a cost of $19 including tip. So disappointed. We loved our server Cody. This was our first time and there were four of us. We started with the Poutine and the Canadian in our group said it was first rate. It was elevated with the fresh produce. The salad was fresh and all of our meals were great from the Vegan Bowl to the walleye sandwich to The Rachel and the Cordon Blue. We will all be back! read more

First time to Lyric, the hostess seated us and we waited 13 minutes until our waitress showed up to take our drink order. It wasn't like it was busy as we were in there before 5:00. But with that being said, the drinks were out quickly along with our food. I ordered the Blueberry Buffalo Burger and was not disappointed at all. Food was hot and the drinks kept on coming. I recommend the Roknar Old Fashioned. We will definitely be back for more and maybe even for breakfast. read more

We made reservations expecting a great dinner.my 7 year old loves turkey diner,he hardly touched it. My 12 year old loves burgers and boy they looked great in pictures and sounded great on the menu. He couldn't eat Half but was still hungry. Me and my wife were wiling to give them both some of are new York strips they spit it out. I was a little confused with this restaurant/bar. Our server was good and very service-oriented. Our mixed drinks were actually too strong to drink(no one has probably ever said that before!). Our food was very good, admittedly. The issue was how it was presented to us. We waited 5-10+ minutes in between being replenished on drinks or asking how we were doing. Certain items, such as one of my drinks and my boyfriend's side of cheese were dropped off at the table by a very ornery woman who was not our server who slammed the items down so hard it shook the table and had walked away before either of us could process what had been brought to us (I should mention that his side of "queso" brought me back to my years serving nachos at the movie theater). Even our bill was slid across the table with such force that it slammed into and spilled part of my drink. There was a distinct lack of professionalism amongst the entire staff that we interacted with and saw. Have now tried Lyric 4 times. 3 lunches and a happy hour/early dinner. Each time the service is lagging. Food takes a VERY long time over the lunch hour - to the point where people were late returning to work or other appointments. Some of the dishes are mediocre. Some are tasty. All are overpriced. The management was rude to our lunch party recently. The servers have gotten my bill correct 2 out of 4 times. All in all, there are much better dining options. read more

We had the most amazing experience last week throwing a surprise party at Lyric. The manager, Samantha allowed us to bring our #40 balloons in early and the other manager, Taylor helped me set them up. The sticky dot we got from the balloon company didnt work and Taylor made sure we had the tape we needed to set up the balloons exactly as we pictured. They both checked in on us before the guest of honor arrived and helped to ensure the surprise was pulled off flawlessly. Our server, Calie, was attentive and had the most positive, cheerful disposition. We had such a wonderful time and couldn't be more appreciative of the attention to detail and the service we received. During an extremely busy Friday night we the hospitality we received went beyond our expectations. We can't wait to return! Thank you to Lyric and the great staff!! read more

my friends and I went to this restaurant tonight and order drinks that were NASTY. So we sent them back and got them remade and still were nasty but still drunk them. I ordered a well done butterflied steaknd when it came out it was bleeding in the middle so I sent it back. When it came back out it was BURNT to a crisp on 1 side and my spinach was cold like they took it out the bag and just placed it on the plate. I asked them to bring me more spinach..in which was no better so I say i didnt want it. As we tried to order shots from the bartender she would not serve us and went and got the manager who came out told us we had to leave because we had been rude and yelling at the server. I am server so I would NEVER yell at my fellow peers or be disrespectful!! But to tell us we had to LEAVE and DON't COME BACK, I feel she was being very prejudice because we were they ONLY blacks in the entire restaurant! I would't recommend anyone of my ethnic group to patronize this restaurant EVER !!! read more
