Communication is awful with these people. When brought to their attention Eric needs to be scraped off the ceiling.I actually had to tell him I wasn't doubting his commitment to the business and asked if there was anyone who could help answer the phone....he then had to relate to me the story of how he stepped into the business and that people were able to retire and enjoy their lives etc etc. That's way TMI. BOTTOM LINE No one ever answers the phone in person....and they told me they always called back...I beg to differ I did answer one call that had gone to spam ...just super unprofessional in general to include the tech that came out. We had a home repair service scheduled through GE Appliances online. But I learned in an appointment confirmation call from the office manager Emily that the business owner, who would be coming to our home, doesn't wear a face mask due to breathing issues. She also said the other techs wear their face masks below their noses for the same reasons, but that the owner and the techs do social distancing. The concept of social distancing in a small kitchen space while not wearing a mask was not acceptable to my wife and I. She runs a home-based business and everyone who enters our home during business hours is required by state regulations to wear a face mask. In my opinion, choosing not to wear a face mask when COVID-19 infection numbers as well as deaths from the disease are steadily mounting in all parts of our county is both unprofessional and irresponsible. M&D might very well provide top-flight appliance repair and customer service but we felt we couldn't afford to expose ourselves to the risk of viral infection. Even if someone has tested negatively for the virus, it depends on the type of test that was administered and when it was done. Even a PCR test can give false negative results if performed incorrectly or too early in an infection. I canceled the appointment and went with another appliance repair company that requires their techs to wear face masks. I posted a separate review about them. read more

We waited weeks for an appointment, technician came out, was supposed to order part and work with American Home Shield on payment. We had to make several calls to follow up, waited more time for part and 2nd appointment. Tech came, said it was fixed, it was not. Waited another week for a 3rd appointment to fix again and md appliance called the day before to say they weren't working with American Home Shield accounts anymore. We would have thought they would at least finish the job the didn't fix right in the first place before they dumped us. Going on 3 months without a dishwasher. read more

This is the worst company I have ever interacted with, period. I have NEVER had an experience like this. I am severely immune compromised so I asked the technician if he could please wear a mask, he said he would not, it goes against his Christian beliefs, yes, he really said that. I was stunned, I was always taught to care for others in the churches I was a member at, I was always taught to love my neighbor as I would Christ. it's pretty telling when someone's ego and ignorance tops any compassion for their fellow human. When I called the office to share my absolute dismay at something so simple they couldn't have cared less, instead he wanted to lecture me on how I was wrong and couldnt possibly know what was best for own health. I then asked if he knew what the second commandment was, you know the one that says to treat them rest of humanity as you would Christ....here's the tell...the guy on the phone, a self professed Christian couldn't even tell me what the 2nd said. However, being on Bainbridge Island, this was the only service company that GE would send out for warranty coverage. The service tech that showed up was fully knowledgeable about our dishwasher and explained everything in layman's terms. Left without finishing the work nor following through. He was inordinately terse with the phone call he received while here, speaking of customers dissatisfaction. This is the first service person to show up who knew what he was doing. Easy to make appointment, showed up on time. Made an accurate diagnosis in 20 minutes ordered a $40 part, not the $560 one the other service said we needed (we did not.) Showed up on time again and charged the minimum to put in the part. Shoddy work and unprofessional. It took them 4 trips to diagnose and properly repair my ice maker. They do not value their customers. Okay, so... At first, you might think a broken refrigerator isn't such a big deal. You can just eat out. Add to your Yelp reviews! But it gets old really quick. Our ice maker up and decided that making ice was for squares, so we called around to have someone come check it out. We were informed that we may have a Freon leak, and called M & D for an official diagnosis. They were available to come out in the second half of a workday, so I managed to get off early enough to come let him in. John showed up in an unmarked van, grabbed his tools and came inside to check out the fridge. Actually, "check out the fridge" doesn't adequately explain what transpired here. He asked how much ice the machine was generating, and I informed him that the ice in the bin was what was being made over the course of a week. Keep in mind, the ice bin was about 3/4 full, and we avoided using it for a week to get the exact amount. Also, this ice was smaller than normal, and would often stick together as it would not get cold enough to fully form. John proceeded to inspect the seals on the fridge, but to assess the interior temperature, he felt a bottle of wine and deduced that it was cold enough. I did not see any temperature measuring device in use at any point. Long story short, I paid $90 to have someone feel a wine bottle. Really. read more

Insisting on extra trips and charges to "diagnose" an already diagnosed issue by the manufacturer of our appliance. We are outside their normal service area so this would also entail hundreds of dollars in costs just for their travel time when it's necessary. Really disappointed by their response. Repair was needed for our oven and M&D was one of two service providers in the area approved by Thermador. Everything about working with M&D was fantastic. Very easy to schedule an appointment, office staff were efficient and helpful, the service technician arrived as scheduled and, best of all, they *really* know their stuff. We had to have two appointments (one to diagnose, one to install the part) and both times things went exactly as expected. Highly recommended! read more

I've read the terrible reviews for M&D & have to say I couldn't disagree more. They were responsive, friendly, polite & efficient on the phone. John, the repair tech, was timely & is very knowledgeable. They are the only Wolf/subZero service providers on Kitsap and are absolutely swamped with work so it took a few weeks for him to get to here. Once here he had the problem diagnosed within a few minutes. I'll need some parts & it will take some time for them to fit me back into the schedule but that's life...it will be fixed & I'm confident it will be done correctly. I highly recommend M&D read more

If possible, I'd give them a zero. We have a service contract with Whirlpool that they will not honor. They complained the first time that the job was on this service contract. Their repair lasted about two months, and we have the same problem. They lied to us about coming back with the part. They complained to the service contract dept. about us because we are a farm. This is a did not firm. They did not answer the phone 3 times when whirlpool called them for my repair. They did not answer the phone when I called them, nor did they return my call. They did not call me with a time frame for my appointment the day before and they did not return my call the day before at 3 pm, asking for a time frame, causing me to miss the whole day of work. They did not earn my trust when they called today, the day of the appointment and screamed at me when I told them that they should have called the day before as promised. They did not answer the phone when I called to confirm that they were coming as I had hung up on the screaming representative. They did not have my confidence when I then checked customer reviews online and found they had 34 one- star negative reviews. The reviews confirmed what I had experienced, not answering the phone, no return calls, screaming at customers on the phone. Even worse, they apparently cause more damage than they fix and send out incompetent people with no tools. They did not disappointment when they actually returned my call saying they were not coming because I yelled at them - a lie. It was a relief that they were not coming. I can only hope that when I provide all these details to Whirlpool that they will actually cancel their contract with this totally unsatisfactory, less than one-star establishment. Home Depot has already indicated that these people are "a problem." Do not call this firm for repairs. read more

Do not use this business. We just finished an amazing ordeal with our stovetop. After the third visit, the repairman left the stove with the same symptoms it had all along. The problem was easily solved when a minor part was replaced the next week. On the third visit, a $150 module that had nothing to do with the problem was replaced. To their credit, they removed the module with care and at least did not damage it. When I complained to their office, I was told we'll see you in small claims court if you dispute the charge. The manager then wrote me an email alleging that I caused the problem with Windex. This is in spite of the fact that the stove had the same symptoms all along. Addendum: Since they gave me a refund of my $150, I have upgraded the review to 3 stars. read more

My three year old Bosch dishwasher stopped working. I called all over the place but couldn't find anyone to repair it. Many people on this side of the water won't touch a Bosch dishwasher. I talked to various people and finally a sales rep at Albert Lee Appliances directed me to M and D Appliance Co. I called and they scheduled an appointment for me right away. The gentleman that I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. He explained about their company, that they did a lot of work on Bosch appliances and knew a lot of about the products. He was confident they could solve my problem. The technician arrived today, right on time and asked me some additional questions about the machine and what had happened. She set to work immediately and within 30 minute the dishwasher was fixed and washing my dishes. Wow! She provided some additional tips on using my dishwasher and how best to use it. She also let me know that I had a 90 day warranty on her work and if there were any additional concerns to just call. If so, they would come back at no additional charge. What a great experience. I've had M&D out on two separate occasions over the last two years. The first time, they fixed two igniter parts in my dual oven. It's a two step process with these people as they don't carry parts (understandable, given the wide range of repairs they do), and it took a couple of weeks for the repairs to be accomplished. Recently, one of my ovens again needed repair. It took almost two months, primarily because a defective part was shipped and installed. The lag time between part ordering and installation is unacceptable - at one point when I FINALLY had someone call me back, it was suggested I might want to order the part myself because sometimes customers received parts faster than they do??? The receptionist is rude and extremely unprofessional - when you can actually connect with her. When I asked about the delay, she went off, exclaiming she wished she could wave a magic wand and fix everyone's problems. I had to leave several phone calls and send emails asking for updates on my service call since the defective part caused a problem AFTER they had been paid. I called the appliance manufacturer who promised to call me back which of course they never did. When I told M&D they should expect a call from the manufacturer, this receptionist shouted they could call her as many times as they wanted. They clearly don't care about their customers. Next time I need an appliance repair, I'll pay another company more money to come out and fix the problem, because dealing with these people is an experience I don't want to repeat. read more

I recently contacted M and D appliance service and Emily, one of their technicians came to my home on Sept 4, 2020 to look at my Wolf cooktop. One burner didn't work, both grills are cracked, 2 burner controls don't light up when the burner is turned on, and the large burner flames when turned on. She cleaned the burner that wouldn't turn on, and told me that she would send me the receipt for the visit and an estimate for the other repairs the next day. She didn't want to give me a paper receipt because of Covid concerns, so I agreed to the receipt and estimate via email. Needless to say, I have received nothing by email, even after phoning M and D and speaking to Eric the next week, who assured me she would send it right away. She charged my Visa account $140.61 on Sept 4, and hasn't provided the promised service. Do not use this company under any circumstances. read more

Recently had a M&D service tech come out and look at our Fisher & Paykel DW drawer unit due to it not operating. Charged $118.81 for a less than 5 min evaluation to tell me the rotor and motor are seized. Didn't try to pull the rotor. Didn't even attempt to put the parts that she pulled out back in and just tossed them in the unit. Provided an estimate to repair of $615 ($150 rotor, $200 motor and $200 labor plus shipping and taxes) but tried to tell me I was better off replacing the unit. Searched online and called Fisher & Paykel with a simple solution that it was most likely a damaged rotor. Ordered rotor for $94 and sure enough...fixed. Not happy I paid $118 for poor, sloppy service but glad I did not use their bid and advice. Called them to let them know but that went over as well as the service did. Be aware. read more

This company was recommended on the Island Moms forum, and I'm not really sure why. So far, my experience has been pretty bad. We had someone from another appliance repair come to look at our dryer that wasn't working well, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then the dryer broke completely, and we called M&D. They were able to get us into the schedule quickly, but said we'd be the first appointment of the day. When Dave, the owner and repair person, called the day off, we were not listed as first of the day. That wasn't too bad of a problem, but inconvenient for work scheduling. Next, Dave came out to look at the dryer, said we needed a new part, which he did not have on hand. They ordered the part, came out to fix it days later, and said it was fixed. Upon arriving home that night, it turns out the dryer worked for 10 minutes, and then the exact same error came up. I called the next day to complain, and the receptionist was unbelievably rude to me. She basically blew me off, like this just wasn't her problem at all. I spoke to the other person, who said, as it turns out, this could have been either the part they replaced or another part (which they never told us!), and the new part was way more expensive and would take two weeks to order at a minimum. We found that other part online, shipped within two days, and installed it ourselves with some help from my very handy brother. Dryer still didn't work. I called M&D back, and they finally agreed to fix the original part under warranty, and the help desk was slightly more polite. Still, I will never use these people again. And frankly, after having such a horrible experience with appliance repair, I think the next time a major appliance breaks, I'm just going to buy a new one! read more

I would give this company zero stars if I could. When I need appliance repairs, it is generally of an urgent matter. This company doesn't seem to get that. When I call and leave a message requesting assistance, I expect the common courtesy and professionalism of at least a return call. Even if the company cannot work me into the schedule for a week or a month, then fine. But at least give me the courtesy of a call to let me know where I stand in the pecking order. Instead, I'm left waiting on pins and needles if this company is ever going to call back. If you call this company, you can expect two things: no sense of urgency nor professionalism. If you need quick service, don't call them. Did I mention, they don't have any service on weekends? Customer needs often don't occur at the convenient times of Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Like I said, appliance repairs are generally of an urgent matter. I'm sometimes willing to wait until Monday morning for a call back after I leave a message on say Saturday morning. But when I haven't heard a peep out of this company by close of business on the following Wednesday, I'm wholly unimpressed. Do yourself a favor and look for appliance repairs elsewhere. read more

Poor communication on pricing, scheduling, and expectations. I often don't write reviews but I felt this one was important to write. My experience with M & D Appliance Service was not a good one. In hindsight I should have looked at the reviews because most seem to be negative. I have learned my lesson with making sure to trust the reviews. I own a short term rental (VRBO home). My washing machine broke right in the middle of the most important season of renting this home. I Immediately called M & D for help and they were pretty friendly on the phone and did promptly get out to the house to diagnose the washing machine in about a day or two and their was no mention of any charges of any kind. Once they diagnosed the washing machine they told me they had the part (timer) and quoted about $250 for the repair. The rub was that they were very busy and could not get out their for about 7 days which was way to long for my circumstances but understood and respected there schedule. I thought $250 was very expensive since they were charging $200 for the part and $50 for the labor and I found the same part on line for $50. However I know how business works and I was in a jam and I do not live near the property and I am having up to 3 or 4 different parties staying in a week sometimes during that period. This means none of our guest can wash clothes or anything else & our cleaning staff has to go to a laundry Matt (they were not happy and I had to pay them extra each time) to try and do same day turns. Since they had already done the diagnoses and I needed it done asap I agreed to the price and the scheduled time of a week out on 08/2. I let them know my specific circumstances and they told me they would do their best if they could get out their sooner. The day before on 08/01 I called to confirm the appointment as I have paying guests in the property and have to respect them and their needs and communicate with them because they paid good money to stay. When I called M & D they said the good news is the part came in, which was confusing because they already told me they had the part they needed based on their diagnoses. I said that's great, so it should be able to be repaired and finalized tomorrow on 08/02? they told me that they did not have any appointment for us scheduled and that they never schedule an appointment until they receive the parts. I let them know that I was told they already had the part and was promised over the phone an 08/02 appointment only based on their busy schedule. they said that maybe another employee may have promised that but he should not have and they can not go out tomorrow and do the work. They told me they could go out next week about 7 more days to do the work on 08/08. Frustrated I decided I would go with another company, they said that is fine I would just need to pay the $100 diagnosis fee. This was the first time anyone had mentioned this. So to clarify I asked if this was part of the $250 I was quoted. They said no and they always charge this fee regardless if they do work or not so my total would be $350 if i wanted to do the work on 08/08. I called around and other companies charge a similar fee and I did not want to pay the $100 fee twice so I felt stuck. I had no problem with the fee but they never told me about it until this point and they would not admit any fault they had in any part of these terrible dealings thus far. Since I felt stuck I agreed to the 08/8 date to get this fixed and just put this issue to bed. However at this point I am starting to think I could have just bought a new washer and had it delivered for a similar price and in less time. I was out of town and on vacation on 08/08 so I warned them that I needed to let my VRBO guests know that they were actually coming so please confirm with me that they will be out their. They promised me they would be there. They did show up but they did not finalize the repair or let anyone know they were their. After days of trying to get a hold of them they finally let me know that they did put in the new timer which was the issue they diagnosed but they found a door lock issue so the washing machine was still not working. I said ok....how much more and when can this get resolved? after proactively asking to be very they said its about another $30 for the part and that was it. at this point I was happy to hear that it was only $30 more but not happy that it would be another week before they could schedule me in to get the door lock fixed. They finally came out on 08/15 about a month after my initial call and fixed the washing machine for over $400. When i tried to explain my frustration and see if they could take care of me in any way they would not take any ownership or be helpful. I was so sick of dealing with them that I just paid them their money so I did not have to deal with them any more and I could learn to never use or recommend them again and let karma deal with them. read more

If I could give M & D Appliance Repair negative 5 stars, I would. This appliance repair company is a total RIP OFF. We've, so far, paid them $236 for NOTHING. They charge $117 just to come to your house to assess the problem. The tech said it was the drain pump. Then, when he supposedly fixed it, the tech never ran the dishwasher through a cycle to see if the pump they replaced was the problem. It wasn't. We checked all of our drains, and that wasn't the problem either. I've called at least 7 times, then sent 2 faxes, because their voicemail is full. They've never returned my call. I guess once you've paid them, even if they didn't fix the problem, they won't even call back, let alone come fix it. I'm reporting them to the Office of Consumer Affairs for Washington State. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY, unless you like really crappy service, then go ahead. read more

They end their message with "Have a blessed day" implying they are a Christian business. I am here to tell you they DO NOT operate in a Christian manner! I called Haier and scheduled a service with this repair shop. They did not call to confirm our appointment, so I called them to confirm they were coming. The person who responded to my call told me they have two scheduling calendars and Haier put me on the wrong one, so they have to reschedule in another few weeks. He also said they called me to reschedule but "the voice-mail must not have gone through, we have issues with our phone service." He then said the only person who services where I live (Vashon Island) has a respiratory issue and will not be wearing a mask, if I want to wait for a technician who has a mask it will be scheduled way out further. When I took umbrage with this and complained that I will have to take another day off work and would like to have known all this, he said he would have to reject my call because I was upset. He then went on to complain that there are too many service calls for them because a lot of technicians are getting out of the business due to so many angry customers taking things out on them. Wow. This was above and beyond, I was shocked at the great lengths he went to in order to reject my business. Upon reading further reviews, it sounds like I dodged a bullet. read more

Our Kenmore fridge has ice in the freezer and is leaking water inside the fridge. We cleaned the drain and it worked briefly then began to leak again. Because they come to our area once a week, we called M&D Appliance Company in Seabeck WA. On 9/5/17 we paid $151.50 for a trip charge and diagnosis. After examining the back of the fridge the technician said he'd order a heat coil to prevent frost build up and they would contact us to set up another appt. We did not hear anything and called to schedule. On 10/3/17 another technician came out and said the heat coil was not needed. He looked at the front of the fridge, not the back, and took less than 15 minutes to put some silicone in the front corner of the freezer for a better seal. He said if that didn't work to call and he would come back at no charge. Charge: $43.60 The freezer continued to ice up and we called again. The same person came out 10/24/17 and told us there was another problem; the door sags preventing it from sealing properly (this is almost imperceivable). He tightened the hinges (10 minutes) and said it could happen again. However he could manufacture new hinges, as these are not available through Kenmore; cost of approximately $200, although that might just be a temporary fix. Charge: $21.80 We called the store about the $21.80 charge for the third visit which we had been told we would not be charged for. The response was that we were charged because repair work was done (the hinges were tightened). We are not questioning the charges (except for the third visit). However, three visits, three different diagnoses, and our fridge still leaks. After almost 2 months, we are out $216.90 and we still need a bowl in the fridge to catch the water. read more

After 2 weeks without a fridge working, M&D wanted me to wait another week for the actual repair to take place after they had parts in hand (it took 6 days for them to come out to diagnose issue and another week to get the parts) I called GE to let them know how long I had been waiting and they expedited the process with a professional company. read more

M & D Appliance is either dishonest or the worst appliance repair company you can hire. They gave me a quote for $1500 to replace a freezer compressor unit even after I had determined that the issue was not the compressor. When I called M & D and tried to get them to replace the $150 starter unit they told me that the bad compressor would cause a new starter unit to fail! After having the starter unit replaced the freezer has run great. Steer clear of M & D Appliance. read more

Please do not use this company. I have an Asko dishwasher. I called the Asko customer service line and they gave me this number as a recommended service provider. TLDR: They charged me $140 for creating a problem that took a contractor 2 hours to fix at his hourly rate. They refused to withdraw the $140 charge and told me it was my choice to 'waste money' in hiring a contractor to fix the problem that they created - after they had told me that they couldn't fix it when they were here. We inherited two Asko dishwashers with the house. One under warranty and one not under warranty, the one under warranty was only attached to the cabinetry with one screw, this was working itself loose after a few cycles and then preventing the door to be closed. A quick fix. Obviously an installation issue. Add more screws and secure the appliance to the cabinetry. The second dishwasher, not under warranty, was installed at a downward facing angle - this meant that the draws rolled out as soon as you opened the door. This one needed to be leveled. I waited for a few weeks until they could make it over. Tech tells me that dishwasher 1 was held on by one screw (slow clap) KICKER they don't do installations - they only do repairs so they can't do anything about it. Dishwasher two, no warranty, is held on by screws, the tech shows me. The tech tries to lift and therefore level the dishwasher by screwing out the front legs, it doesn't really work but the top drawer does not slide out so fast. I pay the $140 for the call out for the 2nd dishwasher BUT when I go to look at it later, it is not fixed, the draw still comes sliding out - AND because the dishwasher was attached with screws to the cabinetry, the screws are all now at an angle because the front of the dishwasher has been lifted, and the cabinetry has splintered. Now bear in mind I have just been told that they don't do installations, and they have messed up my cabinetry / done nothing - so I call my contractor, he fixes it. I call M&D to tell them what happened, expecting them to say that they realize that they provided a terrible service and will not charge me the $140, especially after I have had to pay to fix what they did. They tell me instead that it is MY FAULT for getting the contractor to fix something (something that the tech says that they don't fix). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more
