This is by far the best halal smoked meat I've ever had. The menu is amazing and every dish they have looks amazing. We had a brisket sandwich was really good and the fries were crispy and seasoned, a mixed grill plater was really tender, and I had the beef ribs over rice, and wish I could save that flavor forever it was heavenly. The inside was really cozy and the decor had authentic Palestinian vibes. The service was a little slow but it's understandable seeing the place was packed. And one more thing they don't do reservations, that was one thing I didn't like, because it's really hard to get a table. The vibe was completely off, I witnessed 4 people walk up to who looked like the manager ready to fist fight for the horrible treatment they were receiving. I should've known better when I called to make reservations and was told "we only do walk ins" but we stayed hopeful thinking that the food must be worth it if we're all waiting this long right? Boy was I wrong, the food was below average, tabouleh was seasoned with citric acid, hummus and baba ghannuj tasted identical, lamb chops and mix grill were mediocre. This is by far the worst middle eastern restaurant I've ever been to and I will advise everyone to go anyway within a mile from there and would have a much better experience. There's about 10 restaurants I could name in the area that serves 110% better without having your night ruined. I was getting bored from all the restaurants opening up in the area. It's all the same thing. Then finally M'Dakhan came and finally changed things up. They still have your typical mashawee (grilled food), but then they have smoked meats as well and even other great dishes. Not even that, they have a phenomenal breakfast as well. Everything is so good. I would recommend the beef brisket sandwich and the beef ribs. A few of us agree that the lamb shank is not the greatest, so that would be on my least favorite list. My top recommendation would be the creamy freekah, one of the best dishes I've ever had. Hoping to try to make it at home lol. It's a bit expensive, so keep that in mind. Service, as always, is great. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The seating area is beautiful. We all decided to order a different dish and share it . The food was hot and delicious . We all shared each others . I enjoyed the food here. I went twice during my stay in Chicago. The first time I went I tried the spicy steak, grilled wings, and kuba. Everything was delicious. The next time I went we tried the beef ribs and the mansaf. As someone who doesn't like my meat with a lot of fat this wasn't a good pick for me but I understand that others may enjoy it. The rice came in two styles: spicy and non-spicy. Both were delicious. Our table had water. There weren't choices for typical American drinks. Decided to try this place after seeing the good reviews. The restaurant is very nice in side and the staff was very friendly. The Hummus and Greek salad were great. Ordered the Kefta and Grilled Shrimp. Both were delicious and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the roasted eggplant which was also very good.
